Blind Tiger Aventura - Review - Aventura - Miami - The Infatuation

"Blind Tiger is a small sushi bar concealed inside Aventura’s Reunion Ktchn Bar. They offer a $150 omakase along with an a la carte menu. It’s not traditional Japanese food. What you eat here has more of a Miami style. Your meal may start with oysters topped with a passion fruit foam, progress to an ora king salmon nigiri with miso and bottarga, and finish with matcha flan in a puddle of shoyu-infused caramel. They also have a handful of Japanese gins, including Awayuki, which tastes like strawberry Pocky (get it with a splash of seltzer). Reservations are required." - Carlos C Olaechea

Me and my daughter were out of town visiting Aventura, Miami, for the woman’s conference and decided to check out Blind Tiger restaurant which we found on OpenTable. We are so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious every bite was full of flavor and exploding with all different flavors in your mouth, and it was all made fresh to order. This hidden speakeasy is located inside Reunion Kitchen Bar which made it feel like a special little find. Our service was top-notch thanks to Nathalie and Joe (our waiters). They were both so kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home, and they both spoke very good English. Everything was perfect, and we enjoyed it so much. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

Google
AMAZING FOOD!!! And Joe and Nicole were absolutely amazing! The Chef Carlos is friendly and knows how to make amazing food! We had the large omakaze and the Miami Spice experience ( also the large one). Everything was absolutely delicious and such good quality!

Google
BEST for your dollar! Honestly the food was unbelievable! The service was great and the atmosphere was like a Japanese speak easy. We did the Miami Spice menu and it was unreal! Natalie and Joe were soooo great! Can’t wait to come back!

Google
Such a great Miami Spice tasting menu experience! Every piece of fish was fresh, sake recommendation was delicious (ask your server what kind of sake you prefer and they'll steer you right) and the ambiance was on point! Make a reservation, seats are limited. Definitely going again!

Google
In a nutshell; one of the better casual omakase restaurants I’ve been to. Extremely cool speakeasy that welcomes a casual dress code while serving great quality traditional bites at a price that will not make you question why you came. We had George as a server and he was extremely friendly and gave us great service. HIGHLY recommend.

Google
I tried Blind Tiger’s Miami Spice menu and it was so good! Everything tasted so fresh. Nathalie and Joe were excellent and provided great service. The Miami Spice menu was well worth it and provided a variety of options. My top favorites were the tuna tartare (the best I’ve ever tried!) and the hamachi maki/roll. I need to come back to try the rest of the menu. The restaurant itself is ‘speakeasy’ style and is inside Reunion Bar & Restaurant. It’s a small space but does not feel stuffy or crowded. We sat at the bar and it was spacious. However, the bar seats are plastic which became uncomfortable after a bit.

Google
Hi Nicole, Thank you so much for your great service at Reunion Kitchen Bar. I just wanted to highlight how amazing everything was — starting with the welcome cucumber cocktail, the cucumber salad, and the salmon sushi appetizer. Everything tasted exquisite! I highly recommend it 100%.

Google
From the moment we arrived, everything was excellent. Our server, Nathaly, was incredibly attentive, friendly, and provided outstanding service that truly made a difference. She made us feel very welcome and helped us choose the best dishes. The food was absolutely spectacular. Every sushi roll was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. I highly recommend starting with the Omakase Large Tasting, a delicious selection of various dishes that lets you sample the best the menu has to offer. The atmosphere is cozy, with pleasant music that allows for easy conversation—perfect for a relaxed dinner, a date, or a night out with friends. And a great bonus: parking is easy and accessible! Definitely a place I’ll be coming back to.

Yelp
Great experience here, I will definitely be going back! The service was great and you could tell they were making an effort to make everything a good experience. The Omakase medium tasting was delicious. Note: you enter through 'Reunion Ktchn Bar' and they will lead you through the back into the private Blind Tiger dining GF: they had gluten free soy sauce and I was able to eat entire meal without any GF adjustments as far as I know ( I am not celiac)

Yelp
What an intimate concept. I absolutely loved it. When i first arrived here, i thought it must've closed down and was re-opened as Reunion Kitchen which is what you see. I walked around the area to see if maybe maps was a little confused, but soon i learned that Blind Tiger was in fact hidden in the back of Reunion Kitchen. I walked into Reunion Kitchen and asked if this place used to be Bling Tiger, so she smiled and led us to the back, through a door and a black curtain. Ambiance The entire place fits around 5-6 couples at tables and then 5-7 people at the sushi bar. I loved it. It had a very gothic and intimate feel to it. The entire place is split between a few tables and the sushi counter. I knew the food was going to be amazing. We were seated and approached very kindly and George B welcomed us and explained the concept to us. Service First of all, let's talk about George. He was very attentive and so engaging. He helped us with our order and made sure any adjustments were made to ensure a 10/10 experience. He was very knowledgable not just about the dishes but also the story of Blind Tiger and the staff behind it. He did an amazing job, absolutely loved talking with him. Food. I can't begin to explain how good the sushi is. I absolutely loved it. Every bite melted in my mouth and i savored every bite. It was very hard to stop ordering food. It was definitely one of those times where you're satisfied but you don't want to stop eating because it's that good. The torched scallops and sushi rolls were amazing. The nigiri? Some of the best nigiri i have ever had. Absolutely immaculate. The Wagyu, the salmon belly, the O-Toro...my goodness. I honestly cannot wait to go back. Absolutely loved the concept, the food, the service. An easy 5 star review.

Yelp
Wow wow wow all I can say is this is truly a hidden gem in Aventura first you check in and reunion and they take you to a back room with about five tables and a couple seats at the sushi bar. They have a regular menu where you can order rolls and hand rolls and Nigeria and sashimi, but I did the Omakase experience the large one the fish was so fresh. The food was amazing. I like the little quaint back restaurant that you can sit. It's very cute. I cannot believe how great the quality of the fish was. They fly in everything from Japan. They said this is a fine. I will be going back again very soon.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, but the omakase just didn't live up to the price. The fish quality wasn't quite there--some of the neta was broken, and for nigiri, that's a big no. My friend and I did the omakase experience, and honestly, we were so stuffed halfway through that we almost gave up. The nigiri pieces had way too much rice. Even the table next to us was complaining about it. That said, our server was fantastic--super helpful, polite, and funny. Honestly, he was the highlight of the meal and kept us going through the rice overload.

Yelp
I found the Blind Tiger on Yelp, and it looked pretty nice. When I came to the restaurant, I saw that the menu was different and they didn't have sushi. It turned out to be a speakeasy sushi bar, which is really cool. The bar itself is a small, cold room with no windows and an outdated interior.   Even though I didn't expect much from the food at that point, it was still disappointing. I like miso soup in general and am very persuasive about new flavors, but this soup was terrible for me--the broth itself and the seaweed. The only highlight of the dinner were the chicken skewers. The meat was tender, glazed with sweet teriyaki sauce (but again, just basic taste).   We also ordered a bunch of nigiris. All of them were bigger than they should be, and that size came from rice, so the ratio of fish to rice was unbalanced. Ebi, Akami, and Ikura all left no distinct impression. The Wagyu nigiri seemed to have more potential because of the flamed finish, but the meat was too chewy, not worth the $26 per 2 pieces.   I don't want to seem like a hater, but I really think this place is not worth coming to.

Yelp
We decided to have our last dinner of 2024 at this place... Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We both like Reunion Kitchen and thought that Blind Tiger, located in the same place, would offer a better experience. One appetizer was just okay, but the second scallop-based dish lacked any of the anticipated flavors. The three sushi dishes resembled supermarket quality, reflecting poorly on the assembly, taste, and clashing flavors. We decided not to explore other menu options further. The service was just okay--more of a "place your order, eat, and pay your bill" kind of experience. I hope that this was due to the core staff taking the day off on 12/31, and the replacement staff not being able to cover the essentials. I would not recommend this restaurant to my family and friends.

Francesca R.

Yelp
I usually sit outside and decided last minute to sit inside here and what a great choice First off, the experience was amazing. Dahiana was amazing. She took such attentive care for me and my mother. She was patient, caring, helpful. Honestly, everything you would want in a service. Then, the FOOD. Guilherme made astronomical meals. I have never tried such delicious dishes and dishes with so much passion made within it. I have gone to many experiences involving handrolls and omakase, but Guilherme had a special touch. I cannot wait to go back. These two people made the experience worth coming to. I had so much fun I didn't even pick up my phone... I only took the initial picture and after that, enjoyed my experience to the fullest.

Yelp
Went for miami spice and I was really excited due to the secret aspect of the restaurant, which supposedly was a room inside another restaurant. Said and done because when we checked in the hostess walked us through the restaurant to a small room which had traditional decor, and a beautiful sushi bar. This particular room was very simple but what stood out to me in this experience was the quality of the ingredients in all of the plates. Very much so on the pricier end but you get the quality expected for the price tag. Ambiance and service wasn't anything special but the food was drop dead fantastic!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious, one better than the other. My favorite was the salmon handroll and japanese sweet potato

Yelp
Intimidate speakeasy vibes inside Reunion. Upon entering, I had high expectations but it fell short. Our server Karen was great and attentive. We sat at the counter and ordered the chef experience. It's not worth it, overpriced and underwhelming for what you get. Everything tasted the same...very light and bland. I could be spoiled because I'm comparing it to so many other places, it simply lacked flavor and the temperature of the food felt off. The decor and atmosphere is nice but food felt more of a nod vs authentic. I may return to try Reunion but I doubt I'll be returning to blind tiger.

Yelp
Wonderful experience celebrating Queen Mother's birthday! Enjoyed Omakase as well as Miami Spice Menu. Very attentive and thoughtful staff especially George B and the sushi chefs, who made our time so very special. We had the restaurant to ourselves I. Early evening...it was fantastic. Thank you Sebastian for leading the way!!!

Yelp
excellent food and service! 100% recommended! Jorge helped us and he was superb! It a hidden Jewel, must try

Elizabeth 'Betsy' G.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots for sushi. Not only is the food outstanding, but the service is great, which leads to an awesome experience. Blind Tiger has a speakeasy vibe and the food and cocktails are amazing. It is a very small space which gives it an exclusive feel. There are no windows and the decor is minimal, which allows you to focus on the food and conversation, due to limited distractions. The fish selections are super fresh and the plating is phenomenal. The Black Cod is a definite must try. It is super buttery and the the charred edges give the dish a nice additional bit of flavor. The single server is great. She is helpful, attentive and will gladly address any questions or concerns you may have. I have really enjoyed every visit. Their consistency is well noted and I am always willing to try something new, I know every bite will be incredible. Reservations highly recommend.

Yelp
Wow what a cool place! Food is delicious & amazing quality! The server was very sweet & the service was fast. Had the omakase. Excellent

Yelp
Best lunch!!! Excellent experience and excellent service. I loved the Japanese scallops (sea Bream) and hamachi hand roll

Giomar V.

Yelp
Amazing. Unfortunately they change hours of operation and menus. I went for hand rolls special and was not available

Marleny R.

Yelp
Best experience ever. The flavors here are exceptional. The timing is perfect for a quick lunch, available any day of the week from 12:00 to 4:30 PM. Don't miss this amazing opportunity to enjoy the freshest sushi experience with the best flavors in the best environment.

Yelp
Best Omakase experience I've had thus far. A hidden speakeasy-ish little gem tucked away inside Reunion Kitchen with a 24 person only seating capacity. I lucked out with a table and the joint all to myself without reservations on a Friday evening, when does that ever happen. Karen, the waitress, was the warmest, most welcoming and attentive server. She suggested the BTS Experience which I also recommend doing at least the first time. She explained all the dishes in detail and since I had her and both chefs to myself, sort of speak, food came out fast. She did give me time in between to enjoy the dishes individually and I thought that was not only thoughtful but shows professionalism. She also showed me around Reunion Kitchen's different dining rooms, wine and cocktail bars, talk about going above and beyond. Now as far as the food, this is what I opted for.... Besides the $90 BT experience, which is 4 courses and 6 nigiri, all chef selections and all exceptionally delicious. I also ordered the Akami crispy rice which was my least favorite; I'd skip that one altogether. Also ordered the crunchy lettuce wrap, is a must try as well as the Salmon torch which is also mouth watering. The BT Experience includes the rainbow tartare, a dish that's phenomenal. To be honest I ordered too much food but I'm glad I got to try a lot of different dishes that way I know what not to order next time. The BT Experience will fill you up and it does include a dessert at the end, chefs choice as well. This joint surprised the heck out of me in a good way. I'd like to come back a try a few other menu items that caught my eye. I'd suggest making reservations in advance because as time goes by and joint becomes popular with limited seating capacity, one won't be as lucky as I was. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center.

Meirav A.

Yelp
Food was incredible!! Our server Karen was sweet and attentive Can't wait to come back

Yelp
This new lunch option is not only delicious, but the price is unbelievable! I cant qait to come back woth friends and family for a casual lunch in aventura

Yelp
This hidden omakase is inside Reunion Ktchn Bar! How could I be so blind? Well now you have the intel and this place is a gem and priced right :) For around 150 per person, you'll be treated to a 17-course experience by real Japanese chefs. (At least when we went so check their website for updates). As soon we checked in at Reunion, the hostess whisked us away towards the back storage area which revealed an intimate dining space. We were the only ones there but we opted to sit in front of the chefs where we could witness the action. I honestly don't remember the names of the first 4 starter items but they were beautifully presented and super fresh. Then came 10 varieties of high-quality nigiri curated by the check. Each one tasted differently from one another so every bite was just a flavor explosion. We could tell they were also very fresh cause they slipped into our throats like butter. The next course was this tartare with caviar and uni plated gorgeously on a web-designed dish (see my pics). Wow. This was heaven. Even the soup course was impressive. For the finale, of course, we had to try a couple of desserts which were both extraordinary. We were very impressed by this experience and actually glad that it was a slow night because we basically had the restaurant to ourselves. Service was outstanding as well. Very attentive and professional. The chefs were very informative too. Hopefully, when you read this review, you'll check out this omakase. It's run by the same people from Reunion Kitchen which is one of my favorite places to eat in Aventura. Plus there's plenty of free parking in the plaza.

Galit W.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Perfect for a quick, delicious and reasonably priced lunch. Great option for sushi.

Perla S.

Yelp
google avatar

Jeanette R.

Yelp
Melt in your mouth sushi here. Rolls. Omakase. Anything. So delectable you don't even have to chew it. The place itself is located within reunion kitchen and the host takes you passed a door with a code to open the room for this sushi experience. Quiet. Private. Intimate. The place itself feels exclusive and the sushi is guaranteed to please any level of connoisseur. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Interesting speak easy type Restaraunt Food is pretty good, did omikasa tasting and selection was very good. Flavors are good and sauces are good as well Service is good, waiter was pleasant Drink prices are through the roof! More than half of the bill was a bottle of house white wine and three contrails was $300!!!! Decor was very plain and simple, too bright for speak easy type place. Would want something a bit more cozy and elaborate

Alejandro M.

Yelp
Food and experience were hands down one of the best in south Florida. Would 100% recommend. Went with my best friend and we weren't expecting it to be so intimate, so definitely suggest this for a fancy date with a loved one to celebrate a special occasion. Karen was a great waitress and her recommendations were incredible.

Danille W.

Yelp
Amazing experience! From start to finish the customer service was on point. The ambiance was cute, modern, great wallpaper and intimate; perfect for a date night! The food deserves its own section. We had the Miami spice menu and every selection was delicious. From appetizers to dessert you can taste the elements of elegance and the fish on these dishes was not cheap, you taste the premium flavors. Loved it here! Our server was great and even the team members who assisted, a great team!
google avatar

Vanessa V.

Yelp
Love the entrance. Super private spot for a nice date. Nice bar for a casual encounter and 5 tables for parties of 2 or 4. Karen our waiter was outstanding. She was attentive and always available: the only thing I would say is that drinks took a long time to arrive.. needless to say, I did get some Albariño wine which was delish! not exactly sure why. We order a few things off the menu, crispy rice is a must, we got the salmon and Jalapeño rolls, both were delicious! I would pass on the chicken skewers, they didn't do much for me or anyone at the table. We got the octopus which was nice but should have been more chille and lastly did their chocolate almond dessert. So delicious! Not too sweet, a little mouse and a little crunch! Would go back just for the dessert. Curious about their chocolate mousse too! Maybe I'll Kia have to go back!

Unby M.

Yelp
Loved this place. Couldn't initially find it cause it's hidden inside another restaurant. Food was amazing. Our server Herb made the experience even better. It's a quiet speakeasy in the back of another restaurant with a great vibe.
google avatar

Rajiv K.

Yelp
Cool concept. Seating was quick with a reservation. We were taken to a private area in the back where we had the place mostly to ourselves the duration of the meal. It started to fill in as we exited. The food itself was good, but there was a number of out of stock sushi's. Service was friendly and still has an opportunity to evolve. The fish is very fresh. Plating is nice. Inside is clean and it's nicely decorated. There's a private bathroom for the back, albeit this visit there was an off odor. Mostly, had a good time. I think for what you get there's value with the menu. If I'm in the area again, I would revisit. They had some nice sake options.
google avatar

Oksana Z.

Yelp
This restaurant is hidden in Reunion Kitchen restaurant. It's a good quality sushi restaurant but I think it is overpriced. The service was on a slower side, but the ambiance is pretty great. I didn't expect this restaurant to be this small but it gives a homey feeling.

Dija Z.

Yelp
This is a fabulous little hidden gem located within the RKB restaurant. The food, service, and drinks were delicious. However, we ordered Ebi nigiri and were assured the shrimp was raw but when it came to the table, it was cooked. We inquired and were told it was indeed cooked and did we want something else to replace it. We asked for a hamachi nigiri and ended up being charged for both the ebi and the hamachi nigiri!
google avatar

Madeline F.

Yelp
Karen was a wonderful server! Beautiful atmosphere and incredible food and cocktails. One of my favorite spots that I visit frequently after discovering it. There is not one thing on their menu that isn't delicious. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a little hidden gem. It is become I go to spot over Makoto and Pubbelly. It's so quaint and quiet, focus on quality of food and service.. highly recommend - Herb is awesome

Yelp
Karen was spectacular. The ambience is calm and instructing she made great suggestions and the cocktails were great! Definitely recommend for a nice date night, will be back soon!

Yelp
Great fresh seafoods, sushi bar, new york style. Super cool spot inside another restaurant, aside from the food being great it is a bit expensive.
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
Food was exquisite Service was excellent. Finding the place was challenging but well worth the effort and

Antonio B.

Yelp
This place was amazing, the food was great and the service by Herb was spectacular ! He made the experience so fun and gave great recommendations! Definitely coming back here !
google avatar

Melissa P.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that the food was outstanding. We tried the crispy rice, some nigiri, the salmon tataki, and a roll and they were all flawless and so delicious. Also our server Karen was so kind and so professional and she made the experience that much better. The ambiance is also very intimate, the lighting is dimmed and it's quiet. Definitely recommend for a date night.

Christian D.

Yelp
I wish I could separate food and service with my stars but since I can't we'll stick with a one star review for food, five star for service. Food: this was our second time there, and the first time we loved it. 5/5. This most recent time, honestly such low quality. We did the Blind Tiger Experience for $189 a person. 1/5. Sushi rice was tough, fish was fine, flavors were meh. Nigiri was average at best. And that's generous. No chef interactions. No "experience" in the experience. Service: 5/5 and solid. Not too overwhelming, great drink recommendations. Our waitress was amazing. I had to one star it considering this night out was around $500. It was too expensive for the quality and we don't want anyone to make the same expensive mistake with so many quality omakase spots around.
google avatar

Julio R.

Yelp
Best sushi in aventura, we have a amazing experience with all the dishes. You have to try this speakeasy

Marla K.

Yelp
I've been for many Omakasa's, and I did not care for this one. The server was really sweet, but the food was underwhelming, and it wasn't quite an experience as they claim.
google avatar

Yash D.

Yelp
Phenomenal place!! Food is great and the atmosphere is very chill. Only a few tables and the place is hidden. Our service was great--request Daria as a server!

Amy G.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! The truffle scallops were very tasty! Karen took good care of us!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. The speakeasy-like ambiance only increases the overall quality of the experience. The black cod miso and A5 wagyu are a must.
google avatar

Jean S.

Yelp
Great place! I go there for my alone time when I want to get quiet time and enjoy time at the sushi bar talking to the chefs and asking for best creations. Highly recommend! Good quality and delicious!

Yelp
This place is Delicious! It's a bit pricey, but great quality. Nice selection of saki also.
