We've loved RMA’s bike service and outdoor consignment selection for years, and recently stopped in while shopping for our first e-bike. My wife and I knew almost nothing, but Jeff (the owner) took the time to walk us through everything. His knowledge really helped us find the right fit for our needs and budget, and we ended up choosing a Lectric model. After purchasing, we noticed the manufacturer was running a Black Friday promo with bonus cargo bags. When I mentioned it, a staff member took it upon herself to call the company to see if they’d honor it - and they did! They shipped the bags to us for free! Truly exceptional customer service. We’re loving the bike and it’s opened up new options for commuting and family fun. Highly recommend RMA!!!!

Excellent experience. The crew at RMA set us up with mountain bikes that were well tuned. We had some great recommendations for routes that really worked well for our small group. We rode to the top of Mill Mountain and then worked our way across multiple trails that were just right for adventure seeking teens. Highly recommend the experience and the crew at this bike shop.

Always a great selection of quality used gear at reasonable prices. We have outfitted our growing family there for years from hiking to winter-sports to winter camping and more. Friendly staff are always willing to jump in and find something for you.

Had an awesome guided MTB tour with Sean from Roanoke Mountain Adventures. Highly recommended. Ride was tailor fit to my skill level. Would highly recommend booking a guided ride with this outfitter to anyone.

On Friday September 26th 2025 my family went in the store looking for snowboard boots. They were told that merchandise wasn't going to be put out til sometime and November. So we will need to purchase elsewhere. One of the female employees responded with "Well that won't hurt our feelings". In a world where brick and mortar stores closing right and left I definitely wouldn't speak to customers that way. I understand items not being put out as early as September, but waiting til November will make this establishment lose potential business. We have never shopped this store and we definitely will take our business elsewhere now. We try our best to support small businesses in our area. This is disheartening how disrespectful people can be. Edited: to be clear the 2 star review is for the rudeness of the female employee not bc the merchandise was unavailable. First impressions are everything.

We did the E-bike brewery tour today with Sean and it exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect way to see the city. Highly recommend this place and Sean, he was awesome. When we come back to town we will definitely be back to check out some of their different tours too.

The staff here is super personable and helpful/transparent with questions you might have. If you need a quick repair riding the greenway just need a more practical way to find outdoor gear, this is the place. Being able to drop off gear I don’t use/need and pick up what is relevant to me now with store credit is the best. It’s been especially helpful for things I couldn’t rent or borrow, but only need on a one-off situation (and just resell when I’m done so others can do the same). They carry new items now too, it’s nice to be able to restock on white gas and bike maintenance supplies all in one place.

Sean and the crew did an amazing job of keeping our large work group entertained and safe. We had a mix of ages from 25-68 and everyone kept up great. They gave us a beautiful tour of Roanoke with some excellent stops at breweries in between. Thank you to an amazing team!

I ran in for some hiking sneakers and they happened to have all the new, best brands. I was pleasantly surprised. Took me a total of 10 minutes and I was on my way to some beautiful waterfalls nearby.

Everything about this place is great! Very affordable as well as for me getting into a hobby stopping by RMA made it to where I could get quality gear without the brand new price tag.

RMA has great variety, and it is ever changing. The gear is quality, and there is a good variety. They have good prices and knowlegeable staff. Their staff are knowledgeable about various outdoor activities, and will help you get whatever gear you need for your activity. They also lead trips and do rentals, so hit them up for quality gear and fun trips.

Fantastic experience using the shuttle that has a few stops, but we took the one to Rotary Park for a 3 hour kayak adventure. We had not been out to kayak before, so they gave us a quick lesson, that was very helpful. They took that time, which gave the whole group confidence to get out to try something new. The prices are reasonable for everything we needed to paddle down the river. (2018)With so many national chain shops, this is a prime example why local is the best option. The staff is helpful and encouraging toward having a positive experience all around. The consignment shop section seems to be a nice way to clear out some old gear and buy new gear from the sales. We personally scheduled a kayak trip, that was rescheduled due to unusual flooding and then refunded after a hurricane. The refund was no problem and did not lose a deposit or anything. Clearly honest and want everyone to have a good time.

Signed up for a guided mtb tour with Sean. He called me and got an idea of what I wanted, then custom tailored our ride based on the beta he collected. Ride was great. RMA went above and beyond to cater to my needs. Sean is a great advocate for the area. Recommend highly.

Came in on a quiet Tuesday morning and had a great conversation with the owner, Jeff. For two visitors to Roanoke, it was a pleasant way to get to know the town. Also a great spot for all kinds of discounted outdoor gear. Can't wait for summer to return and go on an excursion!

My boyfriend and I are new to Roanoke and we wanted to enjoy the outdoors so we rented stand up paddle boards. The whole staff made everything super easy, and they were super friendly. They were helpful with tips and places to go considering we are new here! Highly recommend!!

First time using this place, and it won't be the last. From the minute I called, i got an amazing guy on the phone. They were so nice and helpful. Going in, they were also very nice, and super helpful. Loved the crew. We will be back for sure.

Best place to go, period. These guys are locals that truly love what they do and it shows. They care about making sure you have a safe, fun experience. We rented mountain bikes on our first day with them. They took the time to fit them properly & make sure the suspension adjustments were correct for the terrain and our skill level. Dan made us a custom route to follow at Carven's Cove. The difficulty level was prefect for us. Not too easy but definitely pushed us. He even supplied us with water and a backpack for our gear to use. He took the time to show us the trails to take and what to avoid. After such stellar service, we decided to rent kayaks from them on the second day. James sent us on a great paddle, with class 1&2 rapids. For those of you that know kayaking, you know that's nothing, but to us, it sounded a bit intimidating. But we put our trust in these guys and it paid off. We had a blast on an easy/fun 2 hour paddle. SHORT VERSION: If you want the best local experience, rent from these guys. Super reasonable prices with unparalleled local knowledge. Cool dog that works there too.

My husband, myself and my brother and sister in law traveled to Roanoke for a couples anniversary weekend. We decided to go tubing and found Roanoke Mountain Adventures. The staff was super friendly and helpful and we had a great time. We would definitely do it again!

Me and my boyfriend went tubing here while in Virginia. For the price, the 1.5 hour float was not super worth it. I have been other places that give you a much longer float for less of a price. We also had to pay $15 for a "shuttle" that was just one of the workers cars. Still had friendly staff that was very helpful and the tubes were much nicer than other local places!

We really enjoyed meeting the helpful staff at RMA. They were all very kind and helped us with all the details on our float trip. Their equipment is all newer and high quality. We will be going back soon for sure!

Loved the whole experience with this company. The guys who run the store are very approachable and personal. We rented two bikes while in town, they gave us extensive directions where to go and what to do. Actually, they even called us couple hours before our reservation to let us know that bikes were available and ready. I could not think of anything else they could have done to make experience better! Don't hesitate to call this company for your rentals bike needs!!

Great place, spoke to James who knows the local area very well. Not quite a shop but a great outfitter. Rentals were top notch, real mountain bikes, rigid & full sus.

Great float down Roanoke River...this is a 5 star family adventure with excellent equipment and attentive service.

My wife and I took the kids on a mountain biking adventure. Our guide, Dan, made the experience great. He figured out the right level of difficulty and it one point took our boys on a more adventurous and difficult trail, which they really enjoyed. It was a really fun few hours, was very scenic, and I definitely would recommend the experience!
