Las Vegas May Be Getting Its First Aldi | Eater Vegas

"A taqueria that began in 1964 in San Diego and expanded into Las Vegas in 1990 now operates 55 24-hour locations locally and is well known for late-night carne asada fries, early-morning breakfast burritos, and weekly lunch specials. In celebration of its 60th anniversary, the chain is hosting events and running giveaways through February, offering prizes such as Apple iPads, Apple Watches, and branded merchandise." - Janna Karel

After 22 years, I came back to enjoy the same simple dish I used to order with my wife when we were just dating. The food was still tasty and brought back great memories. Prices are a bit higher than I expected, but the nostalgia and experience made it worthwhile.

Google
I literally just came from there ordering the grilled chicken and fries and when I say THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO MEAT ON THERE, VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! I order only this whenever I go to ANY robertos. I will NOT be going back here, no flavor, little to NO MEAT, over powered by the beans🤮

Google
If I could give a no star I would. Lousy service. Wife and I went in tonight to order food and we both felt that they thought we were white and we don’t know what Mexican food is supposed to be to look like. Never had a bad service from this chain except from this location. I will not be going back there and I hope I saved you all from the same fate.

Google
Outstanding ! I like to think I know good Mexican when I’ve had it. And this one was goooood. Great job for the friendly cook and cashier who dished out passionate service and food. Bravo

Google
Hopefully I just ordered the wrong item. I got the beef quesadilla, it tasted very bland and was dropping a lot of water. I assume the meat was sitting in water. Small hole in the wall restaurant, I was hoping to give it praise. Maybe next time, I will try one more time but order something different.

Google
Got the chicken nachos They tasted good but overkill on the onions. The chips are soggy by the time the food is delivered. I would say overall still good nachos. Fast service

Yelp
My friend recommended this place to me and specifically said that these fries were to die for- hence, I had to try it myself! She wasn't lying!!! I ordered through DoorDash but the food came in a good amount of time and was still hot upon arriving, not soggy or anything. The flavor of the meat and the overall dish was so good. We added guacamole and it came with sides of salsa verde, hot sauce and limes. My only "complaint" was that I wish I knew how large the portions were. A friend and I had bought 1 for each of us, but realistically we could've shared 1 plate and that would've been more than enough! Sadly because we were in a hotel and leaving the next morning, we had to toss the leftover. All in all though, I'd definitely recommend stopping here and trying it out if you're in the area!

Yelp
I've given Roberto's Taco Shop multiple chances, but the quality and consistency just aren't there anymore. Most recently, I ordered two cheese enchiladas with rice and beans for $14.82 -- and both enchiladas had almost no enchilada sauce. They were dry, flavorless, and honestly disappointing for the price. Even worse, this isn't the first time I've had an issue. A few weeks ago, I ordered a chili relleno burrito that came with nothing but rice -- no beans, no cheese. I contacted the shop then too, but apparently nothing has changed. It's frustrating to pay for meals that come out incomplete or carelessly prepared. I used to really enjoy Roberto's, but I won't be returning until the quality improves.

Yelp
Great grab for some late night snack! This location is 24/7! After a few drinks at night and getting hungry. This is the spot if you're craving for some Mexican food! Fast service and affordable!

Yelp
Good portion size taco for its price. Came late at nite and got my tacos and everything prettt fast. Very clean and safe inside

Miya J.

Yelp
I ordered an assortment of tacos. I was surprised that the chicken taco was dry and lacked flavor. I likes the salsa bar as it provided a good variety of options. The prices were OK. The staff were fine. Seems like they get a lot of takeout orders
google avatar

Yelp
Good food and quick service. This is the first Roberto's location I have visited where the employees are behind plexiglass. The restaurant was clean and the food was fresh. I had a wet bean and cheese burrito. The burrito was filling and so good. This is my favorite item to order. The employee automatically gave me a combo order with a soda and didn't ask if I wanted the combo order.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast and ordered breakfast Burritos. The food wea fresh, but lacked spice. A highlight was the salsa bar... very good!
google avatar

Yelp
All Roberto's are not alike! This location is mucho bueno! The Mexicana Aunties do it up right. The sauce is always seasoned right and you can tell by my pictures, crafted with love!

Isabel V.

Yelp
The cashier was nice! My food was hot and the service was good as usual. The place was clean

Yelp
Pretty friendly staff, nice lively place, and decent food as well. Pretty standard, nothing insanely tasty or nothing bad as such. What I did like was the portions though, they really give you pretty decent portions for what you are paying. Tried a couple dishes and was not disappointed with either one. Would probably do 3.5 stars if I could, but rounding up to 4.

Yelp
Visiting from Los Angeles and stumbled upon this shopping center and found this taco shop... pleasantly surprised... I got the 2 crunchy taco combo and it was superb... thank you so much...!!! Great Mexican dinner... delicious and fresh...!!!

Patty R.

Yelp
Went to get breakfast burrito. Had no visit this place in a long time. Was very disappointed when I bit into burrito. The ham was very burnt to a crisp! Had to pick out all the burned ham out and just ended throwing most of the burrito out as it was very salty!

Yelp
This location has always been a hit or miss. When I visited yesterday, it was definitely a miss! I ordered a California burrito. I usually enjoy these here, and never had an issue. However, when I got home, I've noticed my burrito paper and wrapped aluminum foil was very greasy. I had figured it was just some additional grease from cooking, and didn't think it was a big deal. So I cut my burrito in half, and enjoyed it. When I went to grab the second half, I had noticed it was dripping in oil. So much so, the tortilla was soaking wet with it. I was immediately disgusted. I've just about had it with Roberto's and their inconsistent locations. Roberto's, please do better!

Yelp
Ordered "Carne Asade Fries NO GUACAMOLE". Got back up work to discover that they put guacamole all over it. I called to let them know, lady didn't speak English, so she hung up. I called back, tried to explain and the other lady said "you said no Pico". Nothing angers me more than someone telling me what I did or didn't say. I tried to correct her, which led to a shouting match. She finally said to bring the fries back for a refund and take my business elsewhere. Don't go to this location - they are horrible and rude.

Yelp
Once upon a time, shall we begin the fairy tale properly.... They say all you need is love and perhaps some laughter. How about a taco? A whole day each and every week is dedicated to taco love and madness! Tacos are life and happiness to most! What's your stance on tacos? If your on the fence about some taco glory then listen up! Taco Bell is not tacos, either are tacos from Jack in the Box. If your going to taco the right way, visit a taco taco joint. Look on any corner, seek out Google or the nifty Yelp app, Robertos are all over in most states; or they have an equivalent. Now that we know how to taco, aside from cooking; of course. Tacos at home are the best always. In our busy day to day, sometimes we cannot cook each and every moment, now we go back to the beginning. Your standing in front of the counter awaiting to order. What to taco on today? One knows that the taco eats joint here is "real authentic," since the staff speak the language of tacos and culture that surrounds it . If you have issues with the language barrier point to the number that you want and inform the cashier. It's that thick beautiful Spanish accent that will deliver tacos and all their glory to you. Celebrate a little now! After the order is in the waiting begins. These days the wait is a little long. Make time to get your food, these days the restaurants are short staffed and have epic failures that many will never see. As you wait you get frustrated, wait a little longer. Take that phone out and catch up on that Yelp app stuff! Perhaps answer that friend, or just kick it and await your number. They will make your food right the first time even though it seems it takes forever. Now that white tray box is in your hand. The bag is all tied closed, all those smells as one stands holding that bag. Few words come to mind; such as "mine all mine!" So since all the orders are made to go, dine in or out. The choice is yours. Now that we are still in COVID times, it's year two or something. Make sure and wear the mask they require it, even though the plastic partition separates the staff from the customer. It's like ordering tacos from a taco bank. At least we are open for tacos and not under lock down. At one time tacos were "non essential." Yikes! As we move through year two of this COVID life style many choices have had to be made to continue to bring tacos to people. Clap now. Sacrificing has had to be made; such as raising prices to make sure the taco shop stays in business. Taco Tuesday specials seem to be disappointing and disappearing; but tacos still exist in much of the same form they were pre COVID life. The price of that taco is a little higher too. Make sure and always thank the staff for all the hard work they put out to make your taco experience happy. Now it's time to taco time. Enjoy the happy experiences that tacos will make for you!

Esmeralda A.

Yelp
Friendly staff but the owner literally called the cops on us because he saw us "intoxicated" wow. When we were both perfectly fine.

Yelp
Good local taqueria you're not going to write home about. But it's better than Taco Bell. It's small. Convenient. The menu selection is what you'd expect from any taqueria. It's apparently popular with locals. I waited in line to order my wet chicken burrito. I hoarded up on carrots and jalapeños. Small containers of good hot salsa that's better than those plastic tear-off packets. The good news, you can find other Roberto's all around Vegas.

Angelo S.

Yelp
Ordered a taco salad with chicken. it was mediocre. Also the chicken which i paid extra for, was almost non existent. Probably, they won't see me again at that place.
google avatar

Nicholas H.

Yelp
My sister and I really was craving tacos and we found this little spot, it's in a shopping center so you can't really see if, but it was a great experience. The lady working was very nice and friendly, she answered all our questions, and explained everything. I got 3 al pastor and 3 asada with everything on it. My al pastor was delicious, and very fresh, I really liked how fresh it was. The asada was good as well, but i prefer the al pastor. The red sauce was good but could be better, and the green sauce was delicious, i love red sauce so i was disappointed, hope next time it's better. Overall we had a great experience, thank you guys. We will definitely come back

Yelp
Roberto's is a quick service Mexican restaurant. There food is fast and good. I've never had anything I did not like there. It's a place I can go to get easy burritos for my kids or an quick easy meal for myself. I do really like the Chili Relleno Burrito.
google avatar

Larry B.

Yelp
The food is always good here, very tasty and large portions. Friendly service. Mini mall location with a few indoor dining tables.

Yelp
Great food. Very fast and friendly service. Located in a strip mall near Smith's grocery store and UPS store. Highly recommend if you have a craving for Mexican food. I ordered the wet burrito daily combo special that comes with a drink and that was only $6.35. What a deal! It was very yummy and hit the spot.
google avatar

Yelp
It's my first time to this location but Robertos's is as good and solid chain/over-the-counter Mexican food restaurant as you're likely to find in thistown. It's fresh, they prepare the food with real ingredients after you order it, it's open 24 hours, what's not to like? And it's a perfect way to end the day with a nice beerat home. And the portions are epic. Lol This particular location seemed cleaner and nicer than a few others I've been in around town. If you're a carnivore, I highly recommend the Carne Asada burrito.. great flavor, and not at all lacking anything in terms of how much steak you get!

Yelp
I just want a decent meal and get what I paid for But no there's always gotta be a problem I even called and left special instructions Is it to hard to ask for no ice Is it to hard to request hot sauce on the side Or napkins to top it of I'm missing items this is the second time in a row i wouldn't bother even ordering here again i hate this location

Yelp
I was staying on the Las Vegas strip and I was in the mood for some fast mexican food. As I read the reviews on Trip Advisor and yelp it was promising but lead to a big disappointment. The location it's in a Smiths supermarket parking lot along with other eateries next door to each other. There was a lot of sketchy and homeless people around so be aware of your surroundings if you drop by. This is what I ordered for my disappointing lunch that cost $25.00 and some change. Chicken taco 3/5 it's ok not bad or good. I like my taco with shredded chicken with some kind of tomatoes sauce it would taste a lot better. Rolled beef tacos 2/5 for $5.00 and some change it could be a lot better because I tasted an odd flavor of the shredded beef. Chicken burrito 2/5 it has no cheese or no tomatoes sauce in it. It was fairly plain with grilled veggies. Carne asada burrito 4/5 the only thing that is decent is their carne asada burrito. The steak has a nice grilled flavor and taste to it and it's a lot cheaper here in NV than CA. Red salsa 2/5 for me it's too hot and not too enjoyable to slurp or put on the foods. Fountain drinks 3/5 some of their drinks was watered down like their lemonade but it's free refill. 3/5 service was friendly you can here the nice happy lady's working and singing in Spanish. The only thing was one lady was cleaning the salsa bar but didn't refill things until customers ask for it. Also they had a couple of homeless people with very bad foul B/O walked in and grabbing something from the salsa area. Also some customers that ordering food they're very annoying. You know you're going to spend some money when you're ordering take out if you can't afford it don't bother coming or just eat at home. I'm pretty sure there's better mexican fast food around the Las Vegas area. That's why for me i'd rather go to a buffet that has a lot of varieties than going to places like here. It doesn't matter if the buffet is a high end or a low end as long as some of their foods is better than others. I like eating all kinds of foods as long it taste good and for that reason Roberto's Adios amigos no mas for me.
google avatar

Melisa C.

Yelp
Came here for some carne asada fries on a Thursday night and it hit the spot. It is a little different from the ones I'm used to in San Diego but is a nice change. We got everything on it and it comes with asada, chopped tomatoes, onions, beans, guacamole and friends with shredded cheddar cheese on top. I would've liked the cheese to be melted a bit but the beans and chopped onions added a lot of good flavor. If you've got late night munchies or just want some asada fries, check this place out! They also offer lots of other dishes like tacos and tortas if you don't want fries.

Yelp
me gusto mucho el servicio de allí mi comida estuvo muy rápido y la señora que atiende Guadalupe es muy amable y muy servicial

Yelp
The food was all right but the customer service was horrible it was a cashier her name was Esmeralda she have a really really bad attitude she don't even say hi when you come to the restaurant and she has really really bad attitude I don't recommend this restaurant we Came from vacation from California and it was horrible

Kiana

Yelp
The carne asada fries were delicious! Very generous toppings and overall large portion. Shared this plate with 6 other people. The horchata was also really good. I've had it three other times from different restaurants, and I think Roberto's had the best one so far imo.
google avatar

B H.

Yelp
Came here on 10/9/22. Around 630 to 0700am. Was told worker was cleaning the grill so no food would be made for at least 45 mins. So it's not open 24 hours. False advertisement. I'd never go back.
google avatar

Trevor H.

Yelp
I expect Roberto's good to be okay/good enough. I know better than to think it is going to be fantastic. Today I was running errands and there was a Roberto's in the same shopping center. So I figured I'd get some. I ordered a carne asada burrito. It had such a bad aftertaste that I can still taste it. It was awful and I ate about 1/3 of it before trashing it. Now I am just hoping it wasn't bad meat that is going to make me sick.
google avatar

Harry G.

Yelp
Had to go here to get a taste of the San Diego chain, as we don't have one in our area. It was decent food for sure but nowhere near the same as the San Diego ones.

Gerlonda B.

Yelp
AWFUL FOOD! What happened to the rest of my burrito -- beans? A waste of time and money.

Rhiana O.

Yelp
was in Vegas for the weekend and right across the street was this place. a few not so god reviews had me wondering but I took my chances and man they were so good I had it two nights in a row. I had the enchilada plate and a harchata for my drink. the sauce was so bomb the beans and rice were fire. and to be open 24/7!!!! my go too spot from here on oh!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the tacos salad and they gave me taco soup. I should of returned it. I want happy at all. Never again

Yelp
One of my top 5 places when in vegas and wanting Mexican food robertos is the place to be. You can never go wrong with anything on there menu. Feel free to drop on by I'm most definitely sure you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I cannot believe the experience I just had with this place. I'm honestly just giving it a three because I didn't experience the customer service since I ordered out. The food got here earlier than projected and the Jamaica juice was done right. Literally everything else, was terrible. I absolutely LOVE tacos and just cannot believe what I recieved. 1. Where were the radishes?!?! A taco never resonates with me as as authentic if there aren't any radishes. Come on. 2. The meat was incredibly tough, and either under seasoned or over seasoned. The carnitas literally looked like cat food and had no flavor meanwhile the adobo taco was barely edible from the outpour of seasoning and spice. Where was the balance? It was also as if we got the bottom of the pot. There were even little burned pieces in our carne asada. 3. The tortilla shells were stiff and did not taste fresh. 4. Even the vegetables were stale!!! I literally ate chopped onions and tasted NOTHING. Now that was a first for me. STALE ONIONS?!? I appreciate that this place is open late and would be curious to see what it dishes out during the day because if this is what the late night shift has to offer, they might as well close early.
google avatar

Deisy R.

Yelp
The grilled chicken burrito was amazing!! It comes with simple ingredients, chicken, guacamole and pico de gallo, portion size is quite large and most importantly the flour tortilla is homemade! Delicious!

Yelp
I suppose if I looked up other locations you'd see I have given them good reviews too. I love this chain of semi independent authentic restaurants. Family owned and operated yet part of a larger chain. Each location has its own vibe and decor, some better than others but the food is always hardy, filling and of great quality. I ordered two burritos, Not that I could have eating two because they are huge. I saved the second one for breakfast as I knew I was not going to have a lot of time the next morning. One was steak and the other was Machaca which is egg, shredded beef, and typical Mexican marinated option and peppers. Most of the people coming in were the kind of mix that give it more character. A black family with three cute little kids, two guys in dress clothes and ties, a Hispanic family who seemed to be regulars, a couple of scary looking gangbangers who were actually polite and friendly, an older Spanish woman who seemed to not speak any english, and the Mexican staff working the counters and in back. I'm guessing mostly family and owners. They were friendly and polite too. Its not fancy, or chic, its not trendy, dressed up or touristy, its just great food with a hardy authentic feel.
google avatar

Manuel S.

Yelp
Great food for sure. I only tried their nachos but it was great. The service was nice and the chef was back there as a one man show. Props to him. They had plenty of online orders and pick ups so I was happy to wait and seat myself in an empty booth. It felt nice eating solo today. It was beautiful outside and all I could think about at work was nachos. I'm glad I came here. I'll have to tell my coworkers to stop by during lunch. Gracias por todo!

Yelp
A staple for this Las Vegas kid. There's never a time when Roberto's doesn't sound like a good idea.

Yelp
I have been going to this Roberto's taco shop for years over the last year it has gotten horrible I have been sick twice from eating there once I'm sure was bad sour cream and the other time was bad meat I will not be back
google avatar

Jin N.

Yelp
Roberto's is far from my favorite Mexican restaurant, but it does the job. Their rolled tacos are not bad, and their carne asada burrito is okay. I'm not too fond of the quality of the carne nor the seasoning. However, I realized they have decent lunch special combos. I got the carne asada taco plate for lunch, which came with a drink, and was sufficiently stuffed for $5. I call that a decent fast food deal.
google avatar

Fernando D.

Yelp
Never fails, such great atmosphere and food. The vibe is Always on point. The staff takes pride in the quality of the food and service. We've been coming to this toco shop for over 8 years now and never disappointed.

Yelp
The food was good i ordered machaca combo my and wife got some sime hard shell tacos. They all came out delicious. Thank for nice people working behind the counter too.

Yelp
I decided to check out Roberto's Taco Shop for a quick lunch one day, and have heard good things about this chain. Service was relatively fast, and you actually receive your food at the counter after you order before you pay for it. Prices were relatively inexpensive, especially considering the portion sizes. I ended up trying something that I'd never had before: machaca. It was basically stir-fried shredded beef with egg and some onions/bell peppers. I thought it was pretty tasty, and was filling given the amount of egg, plus it was served with rice, beans, shredded lettuce, and your choice of flour or corn tortillas. There is a small complimentary self-serve salsa and condiments bar on the side next to the soda fountain as well. I also ordered an horchata to drink, and while it does not come with refills (in comparison to the fountain drinks that are located out in the dining area), it was served in a very large glass. In addition, when I asked for it without ice, they still filled up the cup all the way to the top! =) I enjoyed my meal and while it was not a mind-blowing dining experience, Roberto's serves up solid food at affordable prices. P.S. There are a few tables for dining in but the place is not that big if you have a large group or come during peak meal hours. P.P.S. $0.50 surcharge for any credit/debit card payments.

Yelp
We used to love this place and order takeout at least 1-2 times a week. However, a few month ago something happened to this place, they either changed the cook, or the whole crew, but the quality is just not the same. Every other time the nachos are burned, and the burritos have more fat knots than meat. But the last drop was when I found a piece of plastic film INSIDE my food. I'm sorry, but that's too much. I'm all for loyalty and giving second chances, but come on. The only reason I put 2 stars (I know I ought to put 1) is I hope that some changes can be made and this place can be restored to its former quality level. It's a shame to see your favorite spots turn like that.

Yelp
Definately some of the best Mexican food around. Their Tacos and Enchiladas are amazing. Love their red sauce.
