SeaSalt Sushi and a first Roberto’s Tacos for Chinatown are on the way - Eater Vegas

"Roberto's Taco Shop will make its first move into the Chinatown neighborhood, creating a counter-service restaurant on the eastern corner. A ubiquitous name in Las Vegas for its casual Mexican menu, the San Diego-born chain has expanded to more than 60 locations in California and Nevada since 1964. Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has shared that he considers its carne asada burrito a personal “guilty pleasure” and among the best things “he ever ate.”" - Bradley Martin

This restaurant is great! The owners are very nice the establishment is well cleaned the bathrooms are nice and the food is fantastic! It’s slightly tucked in that I mean it’s on the corner of the shopping center but I passed it a bunch oof times one day omw home from The Joint Chiropractic I stopped in for a taco and they were so good the shell was crispy and the lettuce was very fresh I’’ll be going back!

Google
Very good. Always get the carne asada burrito and chips with verde salsa. Good beer and fresh drinks. Still have the spiced carrots and onions on the side and family plates en todo. Go here for trips, outings, events, and some/all occasions since 1981. Adios, RJ

Google
California burrito was good my girlfriend got some basic custom fish burrito. I’ve been to multiple locations and they’re all good. I’m also a San Diego local, so I know good Mexican food.

Google
Got the Carne Asada Chips from here and They (Ate Down) meaning they were so good 9.5 rating from me.. ✨✨✨Very flavorful enough for me and my fiancé to share I also got a Carne Asada taco and it was loaded with guacamole… This will be my go to Taco shop now!!! The restaurant was clean and not to mention the salsa was great as well.. ☝🏾☝🏾💙💙 Thank you guys for the great food ohh I spent $24 for those two items

Google
Order 2 enchilada plates and well they had more peppers and onions than actual beef/chicken disappointing since we’ve been coming here for about 4 years. I usually finish my plate but this time I couldn’t because of the over whelming amount of onions and peppers and the lack of beef.

Google
One of the best breakfast burritos in San Diego for the price. Decent portion and the hot sauce selections are amazing. Clean, fashion and friendly service.

Google
We ate here for the first time. Had no issue finding parking. Ordered the Carne asada nachos and some tacos. The food was alright, the meat was a little dry. Will try other items next time.

Google
This place is great! I ordered the first night we got in town and tried their California Burrito. It had Carne guisada with fries, Sour cream, cheese and I added guacamole. It was delicious. We also order a taco plate which came with two crunchy tacos, rice and beans. I went back for breakfast on my birthday. The first time I had it delivered and this time I went in to order. The staff was very friendly. I had a potato, bacon, egg and cheese burrito. It would have been a breakfast taco but they only have burritos for breakfast. It was so big that I could barely eat half! I would recommend this as a definite must stop. Maybe just split the burrito lol

Yelp
One of the best Taco shops around. Great Hot Sauce. Carne Asada chips are a must have.

Yelp
Was in the area and was hungry, between Roberto's and Jack? Robby's WINS!! But run it back, it was 9:26 when I walked in, the place was being clean and it was CLEAN! Dude cleaning was very polite telling me they were already closed! ‍ If I was working I would wanna get out of there in time and I've been coming to Robs forever so I wasn't gonna make an issue out of it! I wish I was offered something like that"hey, we can only make roll tacos or chips or something instead of just CLOSED! lol... But Roberto's is an institution in SD, will be back!!

Yelp
Review for the breakfast burritos only. I've been here many times over the years and Roberto's always delivers on their breakfast burritos. I love getting the hashbrown deluxe which has all the different meats, eggs, cheese and hashbrowns. It comes out hot and loaded with all the goods. It is quite large so you have to be pretty hungry but it's delicious. There is a self serve salsa station. I like the 2 mild green and red salsas. There is a hot red which is good but really spicy.

Yelp
One of my favorite to go places when I am at work around this area. My favorite entree are the California burrito with guacamole added, beef, menudo (very authentic), chicken tostada bowl and their rolled tacos with everything on top. Their rice and beans are good too! Everything is always cook fresh after you place your order and it's usually less than 15 minutes wait. My other favorite part of the restaurant is their salsa bar, it is soooo good! They have green, red and mild salsa. You can tell they make their hot sauces in house and I always pack extra to use with my other meals plus I love hot sauces. The restaurant is always clean and tidy when I visit. Plenty of parking spots and tables/seats. The staff are always friendly. You can pay with card, cash or apps on the phone such as Apple Pay etc.

Yelp
We once lived in San Diego and now when we visit we always make a stop at this place. The California Burritos are decent, the red salsa is yummy spicy, and the Horchata is bottomless if you ask politely. Service always comes with a smile and its classic taco shop ambiance with a crowd of working people stopping in for some solid food.

Yelp
I go to Roberto's with friends because it is right across the street from where I work. It's a decent mexican fast food place. Generally busy at lunchtime. The servers are friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is kept clean. Outdoor seating can be dusty because of the wind. Unfortunately, for them once in a while homeless people in the area can be distracting. The food is generally good but feels a bit overpriced. I like most of the things I've gotten there before. I got a bean and cheese burrito and it was decent. It's a good size. Roll tacos are good but I think probably a dollar or so higher than other places I go. I had a torta there before and it took forever to get cooked and then the bun was burnt. I didn't return it because I didn't have time. But based on that experience, I don't know that I would eat a torta there again. the shredded chicken burrito is very good and is a good deal. Overall not a bad place to eat.

Yelp
This Roberto's location is in the same center with Fig Tree Cafe, Food 4 Less, and a Jack in the Box. Plenty of parking in this lot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. 1 restroom, but you need to request the key. They have a chunky mild salsa, green mild salsa, and an extra spicy red salsa that makes me regret using too much the next day. Their food has been consistently good and service is pretty fast. If you are on the go, call in the order and it will be ready by the time you arrive. At night, it's still pretty well lit, so go whenever there is a craving. I always come here for breakfast burritos whenever possible. My goto is the Hashbrown Deluxe and topping it off with a mix of extra spicy red and mild green salsas. One time I went and there was even a duck outside.

Yelp
Since I eat at the OG location frequently, I decided to try the Mission Valley location as I was in the area. I think the only similarities between the two is the name on the building and product they are providing. The prices are way more expensive here. That being said, the food was still solid. I only ordered 5 rolled tacos and a small fountain drink but it still came out to 13 bucks. Normally I spend 7ish at the Chula Vista location for this. The rolled tacos were good and have a decent ratio of beef to tortilla. My favorite thing is that they were freshly fried and came out piping hot! The salsa bar offered 3 serve yourself salsas, 2 red and a green. The inside was very clean however the cashier was not the friendliest. Not much more to add, wish prices were more in line with other locations. THREE STARS.

Yelp
This place is definitely average. Nothing special about the place. Food 3/5: The carne asada fries were decent but when asked half order or full order, we ordered a full but definitely was a small portion. Especially for the price point. Seating 5/5: Plenty of seating but not needed since it's normally empty. Salsa bar 3/5: Salsa bar is a plus but salsa is average. Service ?/5: Don't know what to rate it. Cashier wasn't rude or nice. Just there.

Yelp
Got food poisoning from this place. Food tasted like fake Mexican food. Do not recommend

Yelp
Probably one of the best values in mission valley. Usually consistent good food and service. Make sure you call ahead for lunch orders or other business times. My favorites so far are the CA chips, even though the fries are good too. The tacos are decent as well as most of the burritos. With the exception of the surf and turf, I'd recommend walking across the street to the food truck for anything seafood related. Top 3 go to items: 1. Hashbrown deluxe 2. Chimichanga burrito 3. Bean and cheese. Recommend!

Yelp
I purchased the machaca burrito. Added potatoes and cheese. OMG it's delicious so good I bought another the very next day

Yelp

Yelp
We were craving Mexican food. Decided to give Robert's a try. So glad we did. There is lots to choose from on the menu. My chile relleno was huge, had a delicious sauce, lots of cheese, shredded lettuce and a large dlop of sour cream. Delicious and satisfying. It's hard to find a decent chile relleno- this exceeded my expectations. We also had a shredded beef tostada. The meat was flavorful and juicy, not fatty. Nice layer of refried beans. My husband had the chicken burrito. He asked to add a bit of rice to the burrito- no problem, no extra charge. Our food was served promptly. The staff is friendly and efficient. Clean bathroom. There are a few outdoor tables and there was a nice breeze the day we went. We left very satisfied and this will be our go to place for fast Mexican. Bravo, Robert

Yelp
Visiting town. First meal while visiting and the fish taco was recommended. The fish is a fried but all the toppings were delicious. Then I also tried the creamy shrimp taco. It had a kick and was also really good. My husband had the rolled tacos. It is a meal with rice and refried beans. I say it's worth the stop. It looks like this place has been here a long time. We were able to walk in early afternoon avx put in an order. We took it back home and enjoyed it all.

Yelp
We had been in the area an wanted a quick bite. It was basically a quick grab and go. I was craving Tacos or Flautas and wound up getting Beef rolled tacos with Rice and beans. Also ordered a Chile Rellano with Rice and beans. It was slow for a Friday night and the wait wasn't long at all. Very nice gentleman behind the counter. Their Horchata was very refreshing quite tasty. We will definitely swing by if we are in the area again.

Yelp
Someone bought me lunch from Roberto's last week and it was oh so delicious. I had two shredded chicken enchiladas which the chicken was slow cooked with the peppers and onions and smothered with cheese and lettuce. YUM! I will definitely get this again. Highly recommend at least the one in Mission Valley.
google avatar

Victor F.

Yelp
First time customer at this location. Large menu and plenty of options. I asked the person taking orders if he had any recommendations. He immediately said that the green enchiladas were pretty good. I went with it. I received a plate that was well served! Three chicken enchiladas with green sauce, lettuce, cotija cheese and sour cream. The chicken was well seasoned and so was the green sauce. The enchiladas were stuffed and the towering plate overall was worth it every penny! I included a picture with this review but does not justify the overall quality and taste. I have also provided the current menu with this post. Enjoy!

Yelp
It was a good experience, food as usual was good. The inside of the restaurant was relatively clean.

Yelp
This place is a classic. If you need something quick and delicious, Roberto's is where it's at. There's always a line when we go but it goes by quickly. I always get a veggie burrito and it's HUMONGOUS. They're very generous with their servings-- I love it.
google avatar

Yelp
I don't really like giving this bad of a review, BUT this place is horrible. Let me start with the customer service, the guy didn't even say hello or ask what we would like to order. He was just standing there so I stood there without saying hi either and ordered my food. To make my story short. Customer Service: ZERO STAR Food: ONE STAR California Burrito is nasty. The fries seems 2 days old, cold cold shedder cheese, not even close to being melted at least half of it. Asada Chips salty and yes cold cold shedder cheese again. It's a waste of money. I would have been happier with the Jack in the Box tacos across from this place. That's why this place was empty. Should have known.
google avatar

Lyna S.

Yelp
RUDE!!!!! I don't think I have ever walked into a place so happy to get a burrito and with in second be thinking in my head WOW should I go? The girl cashier here was so rude she rushed my order and was inpatient. I also asked if they give Pico on the side she said yes. Then charged $2.75 for a tiny container or it. Aye Never again at least me nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. Try the surf and turf burrito with adobada, BUSSIN! Will definitely make it our food run spot before heading down to Sea world.

Yelp
Roberto's Taco Shop is my go to for delicious quick Mexican Food in Mission Valley. I love their rolled tacos special. Rolled corn tortilla filled with shredded beef topped with guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and cheese.Their carne asadq burrito is tasty with generous amounts of meat. I will return and try other items on their large affordable menu. I was pleased with the friendly cashier and efficient cooking staff that prepared my food in a timely manner which I enjoyed in a clean and pleasant dining area.
google avatar

Lena C.

Yelp
Ordered the California burrito and was very disappointed. It was mainly cheese and sour cream. Hardly any meat. Every bite was a mouthful of cold shredded cheese, fries, salty sour cream and 2 small pieces of Carne asada. Clean place, though.

Yelp
Geez what a disgrace to the Roberto's name! My wife works in the area and decided to stop here after her shift. She brought me nicely decorated rolled tacos. The meat inside were still cold. Not because of the added toppings but just because they did not cook them long enough. I'm guessing they were premade and frozen. My son got an order of carne asada nachos that looked like they were a regular size order from taco bell. I've mentioned before I'll take quality or quantity any day, but whatever this slop was, it definitely missed both quality and quantity. Basically it was mostly tortilla chips covered in toppings to hide the 2 ounces of meat. WOW! The frozen Tina's microwave sized burrito my wife ordered (cali) was a joke. Super salty, small, and they didn't add the extra sour cream she paid $1.50 for. Of course now home and realizing this 10 miles away, we took our losses and moved on. Sad part is we can't even say the salsa was good. $48.00 for these 3 items....sad sad sad. Every other Roberto's in the hood has been enjoyable. Not this location. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND!!!
google avatar

Brian H.

Yelp
Had the Bean and cheese Burrito and carne asada burrito. Was very good for a taco shop. Salsa chips and salsa. Solid, Lots of people here enjoying their food.
google avatar

Roger I.

Yelp
Good solid taqueria food. My wife and I both had combo plates; She had the three taquitos and I had the chicken taco/chicken enchilada. The combo comes with rice, beans, and a lot of chips. Both combos were very good. The portions are large. The salsas they provide are really good. The place is a bit pricey for a take-out type place, 13-16 bucks on average for a combo, but the quality and huge portions more than made up for the price.
google avatar

Cody M.

Yelp
Fun spot to grab some quick tacos. I've never had rolled tacos so I ordered them. They came as flat corn tortillas rolled up with some shredded beef and possibly fried. Shredded cheese melted over the top and rice and beans on the side. Small seating inside and few places to sit outdoors.
google avatar

Nancy B.

Yelp
First time visiting this establishment, oddly enough this place was recommended by a nearby hotel I was staying at. From the minute we walked in, the female cashier came off as bothered. she tried hurrying our order, not answering any questions we had about menu & failing to share needed information, for example: we ordered two hard shell tacos with carna asada, however when we received food, they were Soft tacos, when we told her, she replies: we don't have carna asada in hard shells.... And she didn't tell us When We Ordered this? Enchiladas were not traditional, no melted cheese anywhere on entrée , just cold cheese sprinkled in & on top, plate drenched in sauce. They weren't terrible but not great. However, my Shrimp burrito had a generous amount of shrimp. Overall food was meh but service was horrible.
google avatar

Steph L.

Yelp
Wow their hash brown breakfast burrito was awesome. Skip the ham in this though, it was really salty and had a deli ham taste. Sausage and bacon were good. Pricey at $10.75 Located near Jack in the box. No drive through unfortunately. Wait was a little long for the food. Salsa good, very spicy.
google avatar

Evelyn H.

Yelp
Disappointed at the lack of attention that was carried out today. I witnessed the restaurant mess up two orders before mine. I thought to myself, it must have been a clerical error let me make sure I am loud and clear when I order. I'm allergic to guacamole and I specifically asked for NO GUAC as seen on my receipt. Unbelievable, slow down, pay attention. Now, my hour lunch is over and I'm at home, very convenient to mess up an order and pocket customer money.
google avatar

Cali S.

Yelp
Delicious as always! Whenever I am in SD I am sure to go. The hot sauce should be called fire so be careful. Friendly ppl great food and luckily I come to this area regularly for work!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
Prices are a bit much for what you get, the cheese on the taquitos is so salty, and theres an underlying smell of a past its service life mop being forced to work past retirement

Jill S.

Yelp
I love their breakfast burritos and Cali burritos! I usually just call in my order for pick up and they're always quick.
google avatar

Yelp
There is no way this spot doesn't get 5-stars from me. While in San Diego a co-worker and I were working in the Hilton Mission Valley lobby knocking out some projects. Lunch rolled around and we were looking for some fresh tacos close by that we could walk to. It was a beautiful day outside, so after consulting Yelp, I got us on the road to walk to Roberto's. This place looks unsuspecting, but is INCREDIBLE. DO eat outside. DO order the horchata. And DO order the nachos. Everything about it just felt authentic to me. I love a good old fashioned street style taco. Service was extremely fast and friendly and you can get a ton of food for very little cost (kind of how I like my tacos to be on the regular, am I right!?). I'd recommend this to anyone in the Mission Valley area looking to get away from the chains and branch out to something authentic.
google avatar

Adriana R.

Yelp
This is a regular place for us but lately thing have been changing. The people that work on Sunday seem to be angry, as if they hate their job. They really show it. I'm almost afraid to order. Quality of the food has been decreasing on a regular basis and it may be time to abandon ship. Something drastic needs to happen. I hope the owner sees this and does something about it.
google avatar

Alonzo C.

Yelp
Bro! This place was dope! I wish I would have known of this spot sooner. I'm always working down the street from there and never knew. We had just left sea world (which has nasty food) and we were in the drive through for jack..... personally I'm over street food. But when I found this spot I Yelp them and saw how great the food looked. I took and gamble and glad I did. My girl is super picky and she was glad we ate there. We shared food w my sister in law that had gone to Jack. She had ate half her chicken sandwich when she tried our rolled tacos. She ate the rolled tacos and tossed her Jack in the box processed food in the trash. We were all in a food coma and glad we went there. We shall return

Allen G.

Yelp
Third time ordering California burritos and getting shredded beef in them. Menu says carne asada... Last time coming here. I do NOT recommend.
google avatar

Liz S.

Yelp
Great food. Awful customer service. I asked for a bean, egg, and cheese burrito and got a bacon, egg, and cheese. She said, "you said bacon". Bacon and bean don't sound alike to me. The customer service wasn't good because she didn't acknowledge her mistake. I called her out for not apologizing and for her arrogance. I'm grateful for my meal but not for her attitude.

Tiger J.

Yelp
love the food it's my favorite place in Mission valley ch
google avatar

Beverly J.

Yelp
Seen a sign that said tacos and since that is my favorite all food, I decided to check them out. The gentleman at the register had the best smile, and when I asked him about the asada chips his smile got bigger so I asked for them with chicken. They are so good, and the potion is enough for 2 people. The shredded chicken was so tender a and the chips so crispy they stood up to all the toppings. I will visit this place again.
google avatar

Ashkan S.

Yelp
0 star is what they are. No customer service. They seem bothered when you walk in. They don't follow health protocols. Also they like to charge extra for salsa and stuff. If you want to get a food poisoning then this is the place for you. And when you call to complain, they don't have a manager or a supervisor. Just avoid this place at all cost. Definitely reporting this to the health department.
google avatar

Peter M.

Yelp
Visited during the summer and got take out. Had a delicious carne asada breakfast burrito with eggs. Also got a chorizo and egg burrito, the usual great taste. Quick service and I was back on the road quickly.

Josue S.

Yelp
Stopped in to get a quick bite to eat on my way back to the hotel. They where close to closing, so I got it to go. The guy at the register was friendly and acknowledged me when I approached. (He was filling a few to go orders at the time I arrived) I ordered a Carne Asada burrito and within 5 min I got my order and was out the door. I get back to the hotel to destroy this massive meal. This place has flavor for days. I was blown away at how delicious this thing was. Every bite was packed with meat, pico and quac, all the way till the end. I wish I would have found this place sooner. If you want to get a great meal, don't think twice, stop by. -The bonus is the price point! A must try spot.

Yelp
Old time favorite. Used to go In college in early 90's and had to try on a recent trip. As good as remembered--carne asada burritos and rolled tacos
google avatar

Yelp
0 star bad customer service super dirty and employees there are not happy to service customers and small so bad I just can't belive that dirty in California...
google avatar

Rick F.

Yelp
Great burrotos. Anytime we are in the San Diego area we get a burrito to eat NOW and one to bring home and eat later. I really like the red salsa; it has great flavor and a nice and spicy with a burn at the end.
