I had a delicious personal pepperoni pizza. The staff is extremely friendly. If I’m splitting hairs I don’t love the smaller pepperonis but this is a personal preference. Atmosphere was great and vibe was on point with some old school early 2000s jams playing. Highly recommended.

One of the worst experiences at a pizzeria ive ever had. Food here was not reflective of these reviews at all. We spent over $30 on two sandwiches and the first order came out cold .. the. Once the second order came it was old food! Burger wasnt cooked and it takes horrible. Tried to mask the past due quality with an excessive amount of salt. Bread wasnt the best and was dry. Best thing was the fact that the side of fries were somewhat hot. When we tried canceling our order they refused saying that the food was already done.. come on now.. smh thats the only reason we tried to still eat and overall the food quality and service was unacceptable. Not to mention everyone behind the counter looked filthy. Who’s writing these reviews? Kids? Bots? So disappointed

Missed Robert’s Pizza while they were closed!!! This is my favorite place to eat and people watch when I’m working in the office.

Welcome back, Robert's Pizzeria! Thought they had to shut down permanently, but they came back recently, and still the great traditional pizzas you can expect from a quality pizzeria. Long missing from the neighborhood, and so, so happy they're here again. Amazing pizza, amazing beef patties, and the friendliest folks.

Great staff great customer service definitely would recommend food was very tasty and they were clean which is a big Plus in my book I was able to sit down and eat without being turned off by a mess around me

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Rob's.. I've been eating here since 2008 (at least.. I might be calculating wrong) and I love the family (the staff and actually family that owns/runs the restaurant). I go here for the any and all of the pizzas on occasion I'll get a burger, chicken finger or mozzarella sticks. But listen -- the chicken penne vodka is to die for! Anyway I never remember to take photos because I get so excited when the food comes out but I'll add more later.

Terrible service. I ordered a sandwich through Grubhub and they waited literally 1 hour and 20 min, last min to let me know they didn't have bread and canceled on me. Do not order from this place.

Food was amazing and the customer service as well. I got the lasagna and the the two cheese and a can of Coke all the food was good especially the pizza

It's a shame this place burned down. They had pretty decent pizza. I hope they return.

Great pizza!! I prefer their pizza over the other places! The pizza crust is more elastic, fluffier, and moist with a great chew - I even don't mind eating the pizza cornicione on its own! The cheese and toppings are also better too - seems to be thicker and complements the crust well!

this is THE spot for pizza if you're in the area. I came here during my undergraduate years and am glad it's still running after all this time! although the service is a bit slow and the pizza looks a bit stale AT TIMES (and a bit expensive for a specialized slice $4.50), i'd take this place over any other pizza place in the area. the price for a chicken parm sandwich is cheap (less than $10) and the vibe is great. if you're in the mood for pizza, def check it out

Robert's has been around forever and has been a landmark on Washington Street for decades. The first time I grabbed pizza here was during college nearly twenty years ago. Back then, there weren't many pizza spots in the area, let alone places to eat. Although now there are more options in the area, I'd say that Robert's still holds its own. Good pizza!

So I used to come here all the time about 20 years ago . It was one of the best places to grab food between classes at Rutgers. The pizza and the baked items were great and affordable Parking sucks in the area... unless you find street parking that is metered for like an hour - then you have to park in a lot or deck and spend 7-15 bucks for the 1st hour I came here today because I had business in the area and wanted to reminisce .... place looks exactly the same . There are two entrances. Comfortable and clean tables in the back. Service was eh/ok. Pizza was re-heated and it was standard . It was a good size tho. I should have gotten a baked dish because I used to love them here. Maybe next time

Got the family special. Ordered through Uber Eats. Called just for some questions Robert answered so nice!!!!! Food was more than we expected!!!!! They even sent us a brownie and cups. Our new regular weekly spot!!!! Thank you !!! Everything is on point and delicious!!!!! Excellent customer service!!!!

Robert's continues to have very good food. You order and pay first at the counter, whether you're dining in or out. The order takers are very friendly. Should you dine in, someone will bring your order to your table. I can't say enough how wonderful the Baked Ziti continues to be. This past summer, Robert's introduced their Strawberry Bacon Salad to which I'm addicted :) This salad includes mixed greens topped with smoked bacon, strawberries, crumbled feta cheese and toasted sunflower seeds. A great piece of Italian bread accompanies it. You can also get grilled chicken with the salad, which of course is an additional cost. I've noticed the last couple months. there's some really cute humorous signs in the restaurant. For example: "All you need is Pizza (with "Love" crossed out)". Check out my photo. Robert's Pizza now has an order app. on iTunes. The price range per person is under $10.00. The place does have delivery. The restaurant is located at 63 New St. on the corner of Washington Street. right across from Rutgers University.

Before I start, be advised, parking is extremely difficult because it's right near Rutger's University. But the parking doesn't stop me. I love this gem. Although I moved to MD, not a day goes by that I don't think about them when I'm craving great pizza or ziti. They're always so friendly and caring. They don't forget a face and once you become a regular, they treat you like family. They help you out when you're struggling and genuinely care. They take care of their workers and customers, I can't stress that enough. I think love that they will customize you dish every which way to your liking and their variety of pizza?! So clever! I've never had a bad experience here.

This was a nice small pizzeria. The staff was friendly and delivered my food to the table when it was ready. My order was ready quickly. I just ordered 2 slices of pepperoni pizza ($5?). The crust was very thin and they were light on the tomato sauce. The size of the slices were acceptable. I enjoyed the sauce and the pizza was cooked to my liking. The cheese was just right and there was plenty of pepperoni slices. Will I go back? Yeah, sure.

First time ordering Robert's in a few years. Ordered a Sicilian pie. Carrying it, I noticed I could feel the pizza moving around in the box. Opened it up, the pie took up only half the box. Never saw anything like that. Showed other people in the office, laughter and shock. One and done, I guess.

The chicken bacon ranch pizza was okay, but the crust was fantastic and it was inexpensive.

Solid pizza delivered to my apartment on time, nothing super fancy just good delivery pizza when you're hungry. We had one with everything on it, basically the whole kitchen sink of toppings.

Great food. Great prices. Great location. As an undergrad at RU-N, Robs was always a food choice my friends and I never regretted. From their popular pizza special (2 plain slices and a can of soda) to their baked ziti, penne vodka and so on, you will not be disappointed! It's right next to Rutgers-Newark, NJIT and Essex county college. Very quick and affordable food. Staff is friendly. Definitely check it out if you're on the fence.

Very very good pizza (iv only tried the plain) Very good salads and wraps. From time to time there is a line but it's usually not that long it's just consist of five or six people. Places overall clean and inexpensive.

So I graduated from Rutgers Law School, which is directly across from Robert's. This place is awesome. The owners and staff are super friendly. The location is great if you're by the law school or on that general area. The bathroom is always clean, which is a must for me. The food is great for the price. Salads are hearty. Pastas are yummy. Sauce is nice. Calzones have been on point. The pizza is good. Solid. Cheese and sauce are nice. The fries are also one of my go-to items. It can get busy at times, but service is pretty quick. I have no complaints about this place, and def plan on returning.

I've had the grilled chicken salad here twice, and it's a great value for the price. There is a lot of chicken that most places would usually charge a lot more for and it's great quality. If you get the dressing on the side, it's really a healthy choice. The chicken is not greasy at all. This particular salad comes with giardiniera and olives and if you're concerned about sodium maybe just opt out of getting those. The salad also comes with bread so if you're going low-carb you can chose to not get that as well. My food was ready for me on time each time I ordered online. It seems like it gets pretty busy here but the line moves relatively quickly. The pizza looks and smells amazing but unfortunately I have not had the chance to try it yet! I'm so intrigued but the french fry pizza.

I have found my new go to pizza place! After being ripped off by "ah pizz", I was searching and came across Roberts pizzeria. The customer service is amazing, and the food is great. The grilled chicken sub has freshly grilled chicken, and a lot of it! I love the fries, the mozz sticks, and the jalapeño poppers. Great portion sizes as well. Highly recommend.

Super good pizza for a killer deal. For $5 you could fill your stomach with two large cheese slices and a soda. You really can't find that anywhere else, and the slices ARE NOT small. They serve a super generous portion for the small fee, making it twice the bargain if you're a struggling student like me who has only a few dollars to spend for food every school day. Aside from their deal, the other items on the menu are great. The chicken penne vodka is amazing with a good balance of chicken and pasta, and the toppings on their pizza are well worth it. Robs Pizza is really a staple in the University Heights sector of Newark!!!

Full disclosure-this review is based solely on ONE slice of pizza so I am sure I am going to re-review at some point in the near future. Stopped in at about noon recently to get a quick bite and just ordered a slice to go. I was in and out in less than three minutes. "HI! Can I help you?" "Yeah, can I get one slice to go?" "Sure. That's $2" Turns and tosses an already warm slice in the oven...waits about 60 seconds, takes it out, bags it and says "Have a great day!" "You too" and I walk out the door. Got in my car and dove into my slice...it tasted good, I liked the cheese and the sauce was ok, but I didn't like the crust...but I can't find the words to explain 'why' other than it was missing something-didn't add any flavor to the slice. Counter staff was friendly, place looked pretty clean, there were a bunch of people sitting at tables eating, but the slice didn't bowl me over. I will definitely give them another shot...too many good reviews to not try again_going back soon!

I never would have thought that I would get the absolute BEST penne vodka I have ever had. I am so picky when it comes to this as it is my favorite meal to have. I've also had their calzones and tuna subs and they are superior. Everything from here is amazing- you would never guess. And the prices seriously cannot be beat!!

Food is okay but overpriced! This is fast food so they need to start charging fast food prices. It gets packed early when kids are in school.

GET THE PENNE VODKA. right next to rutgers-newark and seems like a spot for college students to hang out. This spot comes highly recommended from RU students so you know its going to be cheap, fast, and delicious.

Pizza is ok, a little over priced and greasy. Now this is why I give it 3 stars, got the chicken deluxe sandwich one time and it wasn't a fresh chicken cutlet. The one I got was a frozen pre made one, like they just threw it in the microwave. Another time I got the Italian chicken cutlet sandwich and it was the same thing. When on the pictures in the restaurant show fresh food. In a place that claims to have the best Italian food in downtown Newark I believe to be false food is not bad at all but doesn't live up to expectation

Nothing bad to say about this place. I eat here all the time for lunch. I used to come here back in the day during my high school days and even though the original owner has sold the place, nothing has changed. They still make great pizza and sandwiches. I swear their prices haven't changed since high school!! Only place I know where you can get 2 cheese slices of pizza(large slices) and a can of soda for $4.85. The staff is always friendly and polite. Rob's is Newark classic.

Pizza is so good! One of my favorite spots to come to when I'm in the downtown area. Nice, hot & delicious! Haven't tried anything else from here but I know it'll be delicious just like their pizza. Maybe next time when I come here, I'll try their pasta I guarantee you, you will not be disappointed!

Great pizza and lunch special - 2 slices and a can of soda for $5.... we regularly get pies and salad for work meetings as well and never disappoints the crowd

Great place for a slice, salad or sandwich. Very close to Rutgers, NJIT, and the Prudential business building so they always have business but they work quick and the food is always good. Also, you can always order ahead instead of waiting. The staff is nice and courteous. Definitely a favorite place to get pizza. They also own a Cuban restaurant next door that is delicious.

When I am working in Newark, my go to place is Roberts. Not only is the staff friendly, but the food is always great.

I surprisingly haven't had their pizza but the penne vodka with chicken is an amazing dish. This place is busy and if you order pickup make sure to check your order before you leave, they almost forgot half my order. Otherwise the pasta is great.

Looking for a BIG slice of pizza (or two!) for lunch? This is a great spot, especially for Rutgers students! I've been living in the area for more than 2 years so I don't know what took me so long to come here. They have seating but both times I got pizza here I simply came in for some slices to-go. The buffalo chicken pizza is bomb! Price is reasonable as well, I don't think I spent more than $6 for two HUGE slices of pizza, which ended up being more than I could eat in one sitting. Maybe sometime I'll try some of the other menu offerings, but for now, this is a great pizza fix.

Could it be that I am getting jaded from this pizza place already? I have been on the fence with giving this place three or four stars. The pizza is good. I like the tomato sauce on it and the crust is good. The price is awesome, two slices will set me back about five dollars and is just the right amount of food for lunch. Some of the toppings are pretty creative, they have sweet peppers and onion pizza, that's like cheesesteak pizza minus the steak. The sandwiches are pretty good, the fries were memorable, service can be a bit brusque at times.

When I came to Roberts before, I just didn't know What to order. They make the best subs I've ever had. They deliver on time, the trick is to order early. I ordered lunch at 10:30 and I got it in time for lunch. I say five stars all the way.

Really friendly staff! Good pizza and happy that they carry some halal options (add chicken to a slice basically). It's also a reliable pizza caterer for our events at the law school. Just make sure you have it within 15 minutes of delivery- pizza cold will not give you the full enjoyment factor.

If you catch them at the right time (any time between 11 am and 3 pm and 4-7 pm) the pizza has such a high turnover rate that EVERYTHING is fresh! Pizza is good (about $1.50-$3 a slice depending on the toppings) and the cheese is always melted as it come out hot. Unfortunately, the pizza does not sit well, and after 5 minutes (or however long it takes to cool to room temperature) the pizza is no longer worth eating. They also make pretty good sandwiches (chicken and meatball parm is good). The italian sandwich is nothing special, but they also have pretty good fries. Only problem is the lines during the lunch hour. The place is a bit small, so sometimes, there will be a line out the door. They process orders quickly, but with so many people, it can still be a pretty decent wait. Super convenient for those on the Rutgers Newark campus!

Can't give this place even half a star! I waited half an hour for a cheese burger with fries and it wasn't even crowded. The very young crew stood around chatting amongst themselves without ever acknowledging my having to wait while customer after customer came and went. They made some excuse about the burger being so good it takes longer-honestly, honestly, it's a burger not filet mignon! To add insult to injury they neglected to pack my drink and I ended up going back for it-never an apology, the customer is no longer right weather he/she pays or not. I've lived in this neighborhood for over thirty years and never thought I'd have to experience such a blatant disregard for patronage. I don't recommend this establishment unless you've a high tolerance for young mindless people with a severe lack of people/business skills.

Pizza here is pretty good. It's super hot and will scold your mouth. Word of Caution. I also had the antipasta which was not as delicious as it sounded at the time. Just about everything on it except the meat came from a can. Pretty disappointing cause everything else was so fresh and delicious. Worth a visit.

I used to work around the corner so we were constantly buying food here for the office. They have always been friendly. They used to make these buffalo chicken empanadas that were amaze balls! Their garlic bread is delicious as well! Their pizza is really good. In my opinion it's the best downtown newark. I haven't experimented with the menu too much but from what I've seen it looks pretty goods

Love this place !!! Quality of the food is great. I love their wraps.. It's always the same 2 girls at the register taking your order and they are so nice. The place is kinda tight and does get busy. But it's worth it. They take cards but there's a 50 cent charge I believe. Which I love because I never carry cash with me.

This place makes a mean pepperoni pie! I love it! Not the best pasta in the world but some great choices to eat of pizza! They always have the classics and some speciality pizzas on hand available at all times. I like their garlic knots too, they're very savory! The Buffalo wings were okay, I didn't LOVE it. Great place if you're a college student because Its walking distance from rutgers and NJIT. I highly suggest to order here late night and havr a nice hearty meal before a night of drinking! Cheers!

Outstanding Pizza and Calzones! Come here. We had a small group of people come in and order Calzones, Anti-Pasta salad, pizza slices etc.. It was hot, fresh, and tasted amazing. Small dining area. Staff was nice and full of recommendations. If your looking for a good place for lunch I would highly recommend coming here. Def be back!
