Okay Gorgeous Prince George's, you've been holding out on me...a cute family owned vineyard and farm right here in my very own backyard? And in BrandyWINE, no less. I mean, wine is in the city's name. It's a no brainer to give it a try! I've heard about this spot, but never visited. I finally tried out Robin Hill Farm and Vineyard for a little wine tasting and chill time with the ladies and we had a wonderful time!
If you're planning to visit, a few things I learned on my visit to bring and or think about prior to coming: 1.Bring a seat cushion because if you're staying for a lengthy timeframe and you don't plan on bringing your own chair or not being seated at one of the covered decks - the picnic tables will have your rumps feeling some type of way! It's the next day, and mine is still suffering. 2. Wear and bring some bug repellent and if citronella candles are allowed, bring those too! (Check their list of things you can and cannot bring) The flies are relentless! 3. You have to walk through gravel to get from the car to the winery and you'll be on the grass for the most part, so plan your footwear accordingly.
When we arrived, we went to the main building and informed the staff we were doing a tasting. The tasting consisted of 12 different wines, a glass, and a small bag of oyster crackers. They offered us an additional 3 summer wines, so in total each person had a total of 15 wines for the tasting. Cleverly, they were placed in small plastic cups with lids and labeled with a description sheet. Those wines were all placed in a small egg carton. Check out my pics for all that cuteness! Not sure about the prices for the tasting because I didn't pay for mine, but I do know the actual bottles of wine are a bit pricey....but delish, nonetheless. All of the staff we encountered were very cheerful and eager to assist!
I must say, I was rather impressed! The wines were really delicious! My personal favorites were Blueberry Thrill, Hogs Head, and Home Sweet Home. You can purchase bottles to drink onsite or to take home, wine slushies are available, and other nibbles can be purchased. They also have a food truck, Aunt Titty's on-site that day. Yeah, you read that name right. I can't vouch for any of the food onsite because we brought our own spread, but a steady flow of people were purchasing food from the food truck. They even had live music being played this day, Kevin Lee. He was great!!!
All this fun and great wine right in our own backyard. We made an entire day of this relaxing fun filled winery and enjoyed every moment of it! Looking for a great winery that you don't have to travel 3 hours to get to, give Robin Hill a try. It will NOT disappoint!
