THE ROBINSON’S FILM CENTER DOES NOT SUPPORT (REAL) WOMEN’S RIGHTS!!! THEY ALLOW MEN IN THE WOMEN’S BATHROOMS!!! There is a man, who works behind the concession counter at Robinson’s Film Center in Shreveport LA, who is dressing up like a woman and he is calling himself a woman but he is a man. Period! He calls himself Alex. I was there this week to see a film and when I went to use the bathroom I could tell, by the way he came around the wall, that he was using the women’s bathroom. I haven’t been able to let this go. The manager, Wendell, and I had a heated discussion about the Center letting this MAN use the women’s bathroom. Wendell kept calling Alex a SHE and would come back at him with a HE. There is now a Federal law against men being in women’s facilities. Wendell is going to check with their attorneys to check on the legality of it all. Im not done with this. I guess I won’t be going back to the Robinson’s Film Center again. I’ve been traumatized by this experience, very angry and confused. I refuse to be in a woman’s bathroom with a man. I know satan is putting all of this out into the world. We have to put on the armor of God and stand firm in our convictions I called my older Christian friend for counseling. She said God died for everyone and to just pray for them and don’t get angry. She advised me to not go into a bathroom if I see a trans man go in there just wait outside the bathroom until HE leaves. If I’m already in there just hurry out. I’m not worried about being accosted, I just refuse to be around a man who is PRETENDING to be a woman and going into a woman’s private space. My friend also advised me to call Speaker Mike Johnson’s office and ask his advise. She said someone will get back with me and he might even call me. He can tell me exactly what the new laws state. I’m going to do this.

Saturday was a great experience. We were able to make a late reservation. Once we arrived we did not have to wait long. We were seated and our orders were taken. Serve was a little slow, but the great food and free drinks compensated for it. Moo

Google
Traveling through Shreveport and had to wait 3 hours for hotel check in time and stumbled across this movie theater to kill time and was delighted with the opportunity to see an independent film, The Life of Chuck.

This place gave me a feel of being at a movie premiere in hollywood! It's large enough to service the purpose but small enough to make you feel at home. It's beautifully decorated and the stars outside of the door's entrance is an Added Touch. I really enjoyed the documentary that I viewed. I can't wait to visit again.

Google
Good place to see movies that sometimes don't make it to the normal theater runs. Popcorn is more healthy than standard theaters, so you might not like that part. ;). Just have them saturate it with butter and Tony's and it's delicious.

Awesome theater, amazing food, lovely people and a wholesome atmosphere

Google
Cool old vibe feeling to it. Nice people and very good popcorn. Drink sizes are amazing btw, small is like a medium, medium is like a large, and the large is like an xxl at other places.

Google
Attended a sparkling wine tasting and movie. It was so nice. Love the smell theater. If attending an event after 5:00pm, street parking is available and easy to find.

Yelp
Local cinemas like these are true gems in towns like these. They being a sense of art and culture to growing, suburban areas. Plus, they act as unique offerings for future events and family gatherings. This marks the first time we visited a theatre during this current pandemic, and I'm glad to say it was the right choice for the holiday season. We choose "News to the World" over "Wonder Woman 1984" Always go with Tom Hanks, always.

Yelp
Small quaint theater with narrow seating in a tight space. It's been a while since I've been in such a spot as that one. Yes luxury seating has spoiled me. On the plus side, it wasn't crowded and the show was cute. Beer if I had wanted it. Comfortable, but not reclining. Doesn't smell like potty. Mold. Or old stuff. It was a pleasant experience. I enjoyed it.

Yelp
Robinson Film Center is a jewel in Shreveport's crown! We are so fortunate to have an amazing theatre, restaurant and staff to provide quality movies in a great environment. I worked with RFC to plan a surprise birthday party for my husband. Meghan and Jennifer exceeded my expectations in planning the event. From theatre rental to the pre-screening party in Abby Singer's Bistro....everything was exceptional. Meghan and Jennifer kept me informed of any changes and made sure I was happy with the venue. What I wanted was a birthday experience for my husband that included the things he loves --- friends, fellowship and a good movie. We began the evening walking up to RFC with the marquee sign, "Happy Birthday, Claude!", followed by a hot dog bar and nacho bar (the amazing duck nachos are mouth-watering) in Abby Singer's Bistro, then headed downstairs to popcorn, candy, Buttercups cupcakes and a feature film. The compliments from our friends were outstanding! Thank you, RFC, for an incredible evening! You are the best!!

Yelp
A lovely studio theater about as downtown as you can get. And they have great popcorn also. If you can weather the AC, it's a very pleasant viewing experience where the halls are neither too big nor too small.

Yelp
The Robinson and attached Abbey Singers is always a great option for a good night with friends. The movie theater seating is a little smaller than I like but the selection of movies here definitely makes up for the seating.

Yelp
So glad Tootie is back. I absolutely love the staff. They learn your likes and dislikes quickly if you eat there often. It's very much like Cheers when you walk in and they know you're a regular. The food is back to being amazing and the chocolate martinis are the best in town

Yelp
Man, really? Only one other review? How is that possible? Do people in Shreveport just not see good movies? Certainly they know the Robinson is here, right? My only lament is that it's just two-screens. I'm sure the neighboring buildings aren't ready to vacate and have the RFC expand into their spaces and erect new screens just to satiate my desire to have like, 3 or 4 movies screening at once, so I guess I'll have to make do. I've lived in a town where the only indie theater had just one screen and you'd have to wait an excrutiatingly long time for the flicks you'd been waiting to see to come to town, or even miss their theater run altogether. And then I moved from there to a city with dozens of independent theaters screening more films than I'd ever have time to see. And then I came here. And at first I thought I'd be languishing, that certainly there was no way a so-called film center in Shreveport would have that great of a rotation-- but I was really wrong. The films playing here may take a little longer to get here, but they're the same ones playing on screens in NY & LA. They're just as obscure in some cases, and in others, critically lauded films that would never show up at Tinseltown. The staff on hand does a marvelous job in handpicking the films to play, and the rotation is so that you do need to be quick to catch them-- just because they have something else on its heels. On top of that but with the film industry here in the area, they have a great opportunity to bring in directors, producers, cinematographers, actors, etc, to do Q&As and screenings of their earlier films, or films shot here in town. Director James Gunn, producer Ted Hope, actor Matthew Broderick-- all have made appearances in the last few months. It's a great place that not just deserves the public's support but a few more reviews on yelp. Come on, people. k thx.

Yelp
Came here from out of state and was meeting a friend here to see a film. Came early to check the place out being that I'm not from Louisiana and was personally invited here from a friend. Owner (at least that's what I'm guessing) came to me and stated how it was private property which I respectfully responded that I was meet a friend here and he looked very much surprised as if I'm not allowed to meet anyone here. He responded "oh really" and sat next to me making me feel very uncomfortable. I called my friend and told him that him I don't feel comfortable coming here anymore and that I will be going back home and not returning here any time soon. Nice way to treat out of towners.

Yelp
This place is great. Independent showings, local showings, even a few big screen showings every now and then. I have only eaten at the restaurant once (5 years ago, and for a local school event), but from what I can remember, I thoroughly enjoyed my burger. My most recent experience was not worth 5 stars, but I won't let that one experience tarnish my rating. While on a restroom break, someone slammed the restroom door open, rushed in, slammed a stall shut, and screamed bloody freakin murder. I immediately texted my husband, asking him to run back to the restrooms because I was super nervous. I sat in the stall, holding my breath lol, because I just didn't know what was going on. I told my husband to wait outside, and I would call him if I needed him to rush in. Then the lady proceeded to scream profanity, and finally she left. I scurried to wash my hands and leave the restroom. When I met my husband outside, he said it was the girl who sold us our movie tickets at the cash register! Lol. Maybe she had a rough day, or maybe she has Tourette's, or maybe it was a new theatrical bathroom experience. Who knows. But for a few seconds, I thought I was going to be attacked!

Yelp
Wow we got free tickets to see Tully. Very small theater but not crowded. If we would have realized they had a restaurant we would have had dinner there.

Yelp
While I'm not the biggest fan of Abby Singer's Bistro, I do say thumbs up for the RFC as a whole. This not-for-profit group has brought cultural enrichment to Shreveport in a fun way. The RFC brings films to Shreveport that would not otherwise be shown on the big screen. It is something that Shreveport has been missing since Joy's Quail Creek shut down long ago. The RFC, however, brings this concept to an entirely new level. There are two screens, both intimate and tastefully done with stadium seating and comfortable theater chairs. The RFC also has a nice event venue, great for lectures and casual company gatherings. This is truly a wonderful contribution to the arts and is something every Shreveporter should be proud of.

Yelp
I love the idea of this place however many people employed there are just plain rude and do not care about their customers. I left my iphone in a theater. I immediately called when I got home and realized it was left. Find my iphone confirmed it was still at the Robinson. The man that answered the phone told me he didnt see it. When I asked if I could come in and look, he told me he was walking out the door. After pleading with him that I was within 5 minutes he agreed to wait. However, I got there and it was completely locked up and dark with noone answering their phone. I called as soon as they opened the next day and a different boy answered was very short with me. He told me that he did not have any time to look for my phone. At this time the phone had been turned off or the battery had died as Find my iPhone had stopped working. The manager at least seemed concerned when I showed up and helped me look in the theater I was in. The only people there between the time that Find my iPhone stopped working and showing back up were employees. It is sad that RFC does not have more caring people on their staff.

Yelp
I totally love going to The Robinson Film Center. The films are mostly older films but it makes going fun. The food at Abby Singer's Bistro is always very good. The atmosphere there is wonderful. You can even take your cheese, crackers, and wine in to the movie. RFC also does camps for the children/teens in the summer. This is such a fun wonderful experience for a child to get acquainted with how films are made and to actually be a part of acting and producing a film! I hope the RFC is funded by the community and is around for many many years!

Yelp
It's a nice facility to have a business meeting upstairs, but there's absolutely NO parking. I got to the location very early today for a continuing education meeting. I parked in the lot that said Robinson Film Center parking. I thought I did well. However, we were yelled out by a neighboring tenant saying I parked in his lot. He said he had tow trucks on the way. I asked for him not to yell at me as I never go down town. I showed him the sign that said Robinson Film Center parking. He said that didn't include the row I was parked on. He says this happens everyday! Well, that's sounds like an issue he needs to work out between all the businesses. Everything is poorly marked. After this experience, I'll never go back to the Robinson Film Center.

Yelp
When I was a young lass, I always dreamed of a magical land filled to the brim with marvelously colorful and artistic films that make me feel more intelligent and creative than I am. I've never had a bad spin here, especially since I reached legal drinking age; they sell beers here that can be guzzled down in pillowy seats funded by wealthy patrons of the arts. The spendthrifts of the world will be pleased by the fact that outside contraband of the snack variety are welcomed in this fantastical world of great cinema.

Yelp
Finding an arts movie theater in Louisiana is only a bit easier than trying to find a unicorn. Then there is the Robinson Film Center, located in Shreveport Louisiana, of all places. This is a movie theater that is reasonably in the tradition of an arts film theater in New York or any other major city. This place should be supported by all film enthusiasts. However, simply going to see the movies is the best way of all!

Yelp
I will only say this, about this place and at the same time, be whole-heartedly serious while trying not to sound too over-dramatic. The Robinson Film Center keeps me in Shreveport! It keeps me from moving away! I'm serious! The RFC fills such a deep and dark and lonely void whose crater-size could only be found in the Area 51 of any film lover's soul. After the sad closing of the Quail Creek Cinema, I was left to wander the Earth, searching for great movies, nowhere to be found. I would go on trips to New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Toronto and Austin and see...movies, movies that I couldn't see here, movies that weren't playing at (gulp and shiver) Tinseltown! I was so jealous of all my friends in all these places getting to see alll these cool films that I had only read about and I would have to wait, wait I tell you, for months, in the mere hope that I might one day be able to see it on dvd. But now those days have come to pass. And those same friends come to see me now, and marvel at the awesomeness that is the Robinson Film Center and I say to them, "Yes, this is what we have! This is who we are!" And I badger them with all the great films that I am able to see on a weekly basis, and they haven't even seen them yet! Oh, the glory of it all! I'm serious, if the RFC ever closes, we're moving! It provides that vital of a cultural outlet for my family and I. Sit in the beautiful, wonderful, leather seats, eat their delicious popcorn-and it really is delicious, and support independent cinema in North Louisiana! I LOVE THE ROBINSON FILM CENTER! Sorry, I had to yell it out! It just means that much to us!

Yelp
This place is a secret gem this city is hiding and it definitely does not get enough exposure. After 4 years, I finally made the trip here thanks to a work email advertising an event that was going on. Unfortunately, my excitement dissipated when their was traffic, forcing me to miss my show with prepaid tickets. The reason they lose a star, and left a sour note in my memory, was the way they handled such an inconvenience. Yes it was absolutely my fault I was late (well, the car accident and traffic i suppose) but I was hoping to be offered options and suggestions of what to do now. The special event was put in the smallest theater and the event director seemed very unorganized. When I asked questions about whether I could still see the Q&A but view the next movie showing he was left speechless and then was overheard talking about us to another staff!! Within earshot! I was nothing but polite and I understood the theater was sold-out so I was willing to wait. It ended up working out well in the end and the staff were nothing but accommodating and friendly-- minus this director/event organizer. He said he gave away our prepaid seats since we were late (which didn't make sense) but we still got to see a later show and I snuck in to the Q&A after some uninterested viewers left. The place as a whole is beautiful and the prices are very affordable for tickets, with student discounts which is a plus. The concession items are also cheap. I wish I could go here more often.

Yelp
I have been going to the Robinson since they first opened! I love that Shreveport has one place for independent films that we would never see unless via Netflix or something. They do not play one type of independent film which is nice, but they show various ones from different film festivals. The chairs are pretty comfy in the theater, and you can bring your wine into the movie with you! Classy! The parking is okay, but I would recommend being cautious if you leave a late night movie on the weekend. Nice staff and great atmosphere are pluses too!

Yelp
This place is awesome! The seats are super comfortable, the digital film quality is fantastic and the concessions are a fair price and are very good. I will definately come back to this amazing theater.

Yelp
Love this place. They have new seats now and its very comfortable! I love going when they are showing an old classic, something about seeing them on the big screen as they were meant to be seen! I have also gotten involved with their book club! Also, be sure to check out Abby Bistro, their restaurant. I love sipping wine out on the balcony.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Quaint, quiet and truly a hidden gem. If you care about the arts please support this establishment! It is our duty to keep places like this alive.

Yelp
RFC is definitely one of the best places in Shreveport-Bossier! Great films, comfortable seating, and an overall vibe that you're in a really cool place. One of our favorite date nights was eating on the patio at Abby Singer's, lingering with a glass of wine, and then of course, getting another glass to bring into the movie. I've also worked with them on event hosting at RFC for a company party, and the staff, food, and venue were perfect for a small to medium-sized party.

Yelp
This is a fantastic movie theater/restaurant! The employees are great and very kind, the food is delicious, and the films they show range from american classics to rare foreign gems to recently released indies (which are hard to find in this area). Overall a great place to hang out, watch movies and eat a good meal

Yelp
Yet another thumbs up for this great little organization. After the quirky Joy's Cinema closed we were in the wasteland for years, until this. Run on a shoestring, and now coping with the economic downturn, it labors on--and, given how many of us depend on it for sanity, it's vital that it be supported by all. Unfortunately some of the local politicians seem to want to censor films that don't meet their own particular political or religious views (but then some local politicians still haven't heard about the separation of church and state in this great country of ours.) For example, the place stubbornly continues to allow the gay film festival to run, although some of the sponsors from the community dropped their support because of it, and some councilmen tried to block the Robinson from receiving grants. Proof positive that we need this educational institution here! Long may it survive, and resist the would-be censors. A minor cavil, and I'm ashamed to be negative at all, but after a showing of "Food, Inc.," which should have scared the pants off everyone in town, these good folks still serve non-organic popcorn. Yes, it's more expensive, but with the markup, why not? And it would be the right thing to do. At any rate, this place is one of the best things in the entire area. Go upstairs to the Bistro, get a drink and a plate of goodies, bring them down into the cinema, and enjoy. And donate. And no, I don't have any association with them, other than donor.

Yelp
Something has to be done about this. This is a two-star review that could easily be a four-star if it wasn't for two glaring offenses. First of all, they raised the house lights 2/3 into the credits. I'm trying to read those damned things! Rookie mistake, Robinson. The lights pale in comparison to this next strike. I have never, before tonight, understood, appreciated, and I'll go so far as to say respected the value of adequate theater seating. The seats in the Robinson Film Center are absolutely horrendous. No, there's not rusty springs sticking out or anything like that. They actually LOOK comfortable. Looks are deceiving. They are practically static. You cannot move or adjust like you can in ANY other public seating situation you would or could find yourself in. I spent the entire 2 hour movie fidgeting until I finally settled on some obscure angle while my lower back dreamed of Bayer. Then the movie ended and the god damned house lights went up during the credits. Awesome location and decor. I love the bar with the balcony. The food looked quite appetizing. They just really need to perfect their namesake.

Yelp
I came here awhile ago and saw Che here. The People and atmosphere is stellar. I am going this weekend and next for 3 other movies. I love this place.
