Rocacho Plaza

"Located in the heart of the city’s Salamanca district, Rocacho Plaza boasts a pleasant terrace and a menu that focuses on grilled dishes. Among its choice of meats, the selection from El Capricho, the famous farm in Jiménez de Jamuz in the province of León, are a real draw, including its premium “Selección José Gordón” ox chop and its beef chop aged for 90 days. It also offers market-inspired dishes, recipes featuring seasonal vegetables, superb grilled fish, and rice and fideuá options. It also occasionally hosts full-day food events such as those dedicated to the delicious oxtail." - Michelin Inspector

A really lovely Sunday evening...the main two people attending us were Luis and Orion who were funny and delightful and also spoke English. We chose a bottle of Albarino and still water. The food was excellent, we were given a small Gazpacho and bread to start, we started the courses with the Crab bombs and crab Tacos...then we had Turbot and Cod and ended with an amazing Rice Pudding. Great coffee and Pedro Ximenez..Superb choice. Not cheap but delicious.

Everything is so good, especially meat and tiramisu 🥰 check the info about El Capricho , their meat supplier, the guy really takes care of his animals, they live long and happy life outside.

It's always a shame when you come away from a restaurant thinking more about the staff (one in particular) than the food. The food is very good, and the wine. Although I'd recommend ordering your steak a level higher than usual because the medium-rare was very rare. But the maitre'd... either he doesn't enjoy his job, or his tight suit is uncomfortable, or something else is putting him in a permanently gruff mood with his clients. And don't try to ask him for something once he's seated you. Ooooh no. And it rubs off because there seemed to be few smiles from the rest of the team. The ambience echoed this seriousness with €1,700 whisky on display in a single glass cabinet. So maybe we hit a bad day at the office. Like I said, the food is good and the setting is great, so it's worth a visit for those alone.

Muy bueno! I had a ceviche and bread with picanha. Both of them were very good.

We were passing by an we stopped to check the menu, we liked it so we asked for a table for two. We ordered the DELICIOUS beef jerky and the prawn carpaccio, both delicious together with a bottle of wine. To finish a paella for two people, very nice too. Although the coffee should be improved since it tastes more like water than coffee and the service too. At first they seemed to be attentive but when they took the order they just abandoned us. We had to serve ourselves the wine and water, during the lunch since no one came to check, we had to go inside to ask for the coffee and the bill, since nobody checked us if we needed to order something even after leaving the dessert menu for us. The tip we left was definitely for the food not for the service. Kind regards Sara

I had high hopes for this place as we walked by it several times. I was underwhelmed in every way. To start we arrived to a dusty table that we had to wipe, and I am pretty sure the staff saw us clean the table and didn’t bother to think that they should come give a quick wipe. The service wasn’t horrible but it was lackluster. The food was unimaginative. The calamari was gummy, the croquetas had too much oil. Everything seemed like it came out of a bag and fried and not even a fresh sauce was made to go with it. I swear we asked for more sauce for the calamari and the gave us a cup of mayo. Overall I regret coming here and advise against it.

Took 2 friends from out of town to this restaurant last month. Was really disappointed. The service was very poor (aloof and unattentive), food was just average and the ambiance/music felt very cold (interior lights need dimmers desperately). With all the wonderful restaurants in Madrid unfortunately this one was a low point during their weeklong stay here.

Went shopping around the area and seen the terrace. We went in and had one of the best lunches I’ve had in years. We had everything from paella to chuelta de vaca which is like a tomahawk steak at home. We also had a mixture of starters. I loved the red prawn croquettes and the toritilla of Cecinna of ox. Both dishes I’d not normally try but fantastic recommendations from our waiter. We went all out and had a bottle of Tattinger as well. When on holidays we thought we might as well. We’ve been at the other restaurant near the berneabeu. I think we’ll try that again at the weekend which was a great option when the football is on. Overall fantastic meal and it’s the food you come to Madrid and hope to stumble upon. The little hidden gems only the locals know about.
