Roc & Sol has my heart.. and stomach! I've recently had an obsession with this place and been here more times than my body would like. The ambiance, artwork, and food are all transcending!
Parppardelle Pasta Bolognese 5/5*
This pasta doesn't look like much, but let me tell ya. As if the spacey murals weren't enough, this pasta is out of this world! The thin ribbons of noodles have the perfect al dente consistency of freshly made pasta and the sauce is divine. The tomato cream sauce isn't heavy, but the chunks of sausage and sweet peppers are so rich in flavor. This is how Italian sausage is done.. robust, herby, and I had a bite where I tasted fennel? This pasta is on par with those at Italian restaurants. Dreams and drools!
The Puget Sound 5/5*
This is like crab artichoke dip in a sandwich form. SO creamy!! Perfectly buttered and toasted sourdough bread. Although the crispy skinny fries are very hard to resist, pair it with a salad instead to help balance out the creaminess.
Baked Goat Cheese 4/5*
The goat cheese and pesto are very subtle, no twang. The sun dried tomato pesto looks like chorizo and very dark, but not too flavorful. The cheese is so fluffy and creamy. The sprinkling of tasted cheddar adds an extra crisp to the toasted baguette slices.
Creme Brulee French Toast 5/5*
First time I had this, my eyes were bulging in Mmmness. So toasty and crispy, packed with buttery salty sweetness! The second time, the French Toast wasn't as crispy and not as satisfying, so make sure to ask for extra toasty. It had enough flavor you don't even need the maple syrup.
Roasted Meatloaf w/Cayenne Aioli 4/5*
The meatloaf was firmer and a smaller portion than I thought it would be, but was flavorful and a nice spin on classic meatloaf with the added cayenne aioli. It came with some creamy mashed potatoes and crisp green beans.
Slow Roasted Prime Rib Dip 3/5*
There was a good meat to bread ratio, but it's your basic french dip and nothing memorable. The au jus was a potent beefy broth, but without it, the prime rib sandwich was plain and lacked flavor.
Key Lime Pie 1/5*
This just wasn't it for me. Too thick and sweet, not enough zesty sourness to it.
They should drop the "Diner" from their name because this is no diner food. Their menu is extensive and delicious. You can really feel the love put into each dish and sometimes you'll even get to talk to owner, Matt, as he walks around. The Bolognese Pasta, though is where it's at! It's so delicious, it keeps me coming back week after week. And best of all, there's daily specials and DJ nights!
