Rocco Steakhouse

Rocco Steakhouse was one of the best places I dined while in New York. The entire experience was amazing. We were served by an amazing waiter. The time it took for the food to get to the table was negligible compared to other places. We got steak with mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms as sides. Desert, carrot cake was on the house. It was well worth the money spent! Great dining experience!

My friend and I went here because he went there before and really enjoyed it... I had the surf and turf which was an 8 oz Lobster tail and a 8 oz filet mignon... It was definitely five stars... each one was cooked perfectly unto itself I really don't have anything negative to say about it... Yeah, that good. The host was incredibly friendly I thought he knew my friend... We went on a Thursday night... it was very busy and very crowded and even though there was traffic and my friend was late they had no problem accommodating us...

Came here for my partners birthday on a Saturday, reservation was on the early side so got to enjoy the quietness. The porter house was cooked in perfection and the cream spinach and mac and cheese complimented the steakhouse. Perfect portion for two. The gentlemen sang the birthday song and got us a dessert platter on the house!

This is comfortably the best restaurant I have ever been to and experienced in my 29 years of living. And easily the best place we have eaten during our trip to NYC. Service and Atmosphere was incredible, there are multiple waiters serving your table and its a unique experience when there are 3-4 staff members who bring your food and dish out your steaks and sides (lobster mac and cheese was delicious). I cant recommend the whole experience enough and Rocco Steakhouse will be the first place on our list to visit when we come back to NY!

Really great experience from start to finish! I’ve been to a lot of steakhouses in the city and was a bit weary because I had never heard of this one before, but I was pleasantly surprised. Steak was excellent, sides and apps were great, and fantastic service. Loved that fact that so many people knew the wait staff — definitely a place where you could become a regular. Shout out to Rosini who deftly took care of us the whole night.

Carnivorous craving last night… Peter Luger in Brooklyn was not a last minute option on a Saturday night! My son suggested trying Rocco’s Steakhouse on Madison Ave and 28th Street and wow, we were blown away by the delectable and perfectly seasoned porterhouse steaks which can rival PL’s!! Service experience was absolutely impeccable with its stately ambience. Rocco’s just very well be the best kept steakhouse secret in Manhattan… we all agree, a return is a must!

Photos do not do this place any justice. We came while in town on a business trip and were not disappointed. Not only was the food phenomenal, but the staff was fantastic. The servers where extremely attentive and respectful. The table was consistently cleaned between courses and drinks never empty. The manager specifically was very kind and friendly (everyone was, but its not often the manager has as much interaction as he did). The atmosphere was mature and not gimmicky (how a high end steakhouse should be). 10/10 would dine here again. Ordered: bone in ribeye, filet mingnon, lobster mac and cheese.

Dinner night.in Rocco Steakhouse for NYE was excellent choice. The hospitality was perfect, especially Toshe provided exceptional service that made the evening special. The food was delicious, especially the perfectly cooked steak. Highly recommend for a fantastic meal and hospitality.

Very enjoyable experience last night. Took a few co-workers here for a real estate closing dinner, and it lived up to my hopes. Overall a great steakhouse that will be added to my rotation. I've been to many different places in the city and some places several times, such as Wolfgang's, Luger, and Striphouse. I wanted to try something new so did some perusing on yelp as well as google and this one came highly rated. I can certainly see why. Vodka martini was very solid, nothing wrong and also nothing amazing. For food we started off with a crabcake, baked clams, bacon, and tomato/onion app. The best was the crab cake by far, but the others were still solid. I personally can go the rest of my life without the tomato/onion app at any steakhouse but I was over-ruled. The porterhouse and the sides were exceptional. I'd say if these were only solid/average, it would be probably be a 3.5/4 star review. But the main course stood out as delicious. The German potatoes were the best I've had anywhere, and the vegetables incredibly well-seasoned without being too salty. Most side dishes had fresh slices of sautéed garlic which I loved. The porterhouse was on par with Wolfgang's and Luger. Dry-aged, sizzling in a piping hot plate of butter/meat juice. Couldn't be happier when it was all finished. And then we got a tray of free dessert which was a great touch. Service was also 5/5. Will be coming back.

Went to Rocco's Steakhouse for lunch....beautiful decor, the staff was great! When I was seated I started looking at the menu and thought....let me splurge a little, I saw they had King Crab as an Appetizer and then get the Bone in Filet Minion when the waiter came by he looked me up and down(I was in a polo work shirt, and khakis) and said sir I would like to inform you the king crab is 165 dollars a lbs. I was floored....the poor people look was all over my face lol. I was like sir, I've had a change of heart, can you get me the 19.99 crab cake special as an appetizer . Anyhow long story short....steak was eh, crab cakes were full of filling and no crab so I was underwhelmed about the whole meal. If you do go there please pick up pieces of my rich man ego because it shattered and was left on the floor there lol. All and all it wasn't the worst, but definitely wasn't the best.

Rocco in NoMad. GM is ex-Wolfgang's. 10/10 service. Wait staff wipes the first steak bites on the edge of sizzling plate then dips it in the beef rendered butter.

EXCELLENT food, service and ALL IN ALL PHENOMENAL. Bartender Toshe served us ate at the bar and shared the 14 Oz filet mignon, Cesar salad and carrot cake! HIGHLY RECOMMEND, extensive wine list also!! Must go to steak house!

Both locations of Rocco's Steakhouse should be on your must try list. They have it all together. Service is so smooth, every single waiter tries to make you feel special. Steaks are juicy, beautifully prepared, and elegantly served. I am in the review business and I know a good place when I see it.

After looking at steakhouses on my phone,we were able to get a res at Rocco for me,my best friend & his daughter.Very friendly staff keeping it all moving.our party was complete so they sat us at great tables in the middle of the busy dining room.Our host Vinny was there all the way exchanging pleasantries & jokes.Excellent waiter & support staff/food runner were very pleasant.Delicious Apple arugula salad Then mains:Fries,Onion Rings cavatappi Mac & cheese Al dente.Thenthe bone in steak arrivedon a searing hot plate fresh from broiler tilted on a plate creating a perfect pool of butter.Very well handled steak,dry aged in house.We met everybody touching our table and all were so nice.After dinner they sent a chocolate mousse torte with ganache delicious The photo included is the steak I bought home to my wife

Well if you need a nice night out. Try here it does get busy but they do accommodate seating at the bar where can eat or sit enjoy a cocktail no rush. Get a table and relax Menu is extensive but it's a steakhouse so find your carnivorous size. Our group had all size steaks. Porter for 3 enough for more. Ribeye like butter filet cooked to perfection Appetizer was the seafood tower. Fresh lobster shrimp lump crab nice cocktail sauce Could have lived on the vegetables alone. Broccoli rabe spicy mmmm good. Hash browns flavorful steamed spinach great. Then the dessert tray. Roll me home. Staff all like family Glad to see us (only been here 2X's). Made you feel welcomed Waiters helped to make sure we had what we needed with no waiting Not a cheap night out but We only live once So enjoy

I'm not one to leave a review but, this restaurant is an exception to my rules. Our server Daniel was outstanding from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. Not only was the food & service top notch but, the people watching was just as fun. If we lived in the city this would be our go to!!

the staff was very attentive. suggested the right steak for a group of three. we really appreciate it! we had the french onion soup, caesar salad, lobster mac and cheese and cream spinach. all were great

I enjoyed this place for lunch on Sa, that I went back again on Mon for lunch as well. Had the tomato and mozzarella salad, and for me, it was perfect. I had the filet mignon au pouve from the lunch menu both times and it was perfectly prepared. Atmosphere nice. Staff exceptional. Food fantastic.

We dined here because of the stellar reviews I've read. Service was 3/5- don't expect any warmth service that you'd usually get from a steakhouse place. Servers were very straightforward and felt a European dine-in service. We shared our entrees so they served each of them on our plates. It was a kind gesture but awkward and unnecessary. Food was 3.5/5- the Rib eye steak we ordered was medium well but the edges of the steak were burnt then the middle was medium rare. It was definitely a disappointment. We liked the Lobster mac n' cheese, sea bass and the apple and pear salad.

Amazing! The food was delicious from the crab cake appetizer to the Porterhouse cooked to perfection to the delicious desserts! You couldn't ask for better service, felt like we were dining with family. I would definitely recommend if you are in the city. We will be back.

Amazing experience, my first time there, I was blown away! Great steak, Great service, Great atmosphere.

So when in NYC, you can not leave without trying a steakhouse. Thank you Yelp for giving us a few options. We thought Rocco's had some great reviews and headed out in the rain to experience it for ourselves. We sat down at the bar and were immediately greeted by Giacuomo (apologies on the spelling). Such a warm greeting with that amazing Italian accent. We ordered sparkling water and a gin and tonic along with shrimp cocktail. These shrimp were huge!!!! The cocktail sauce had just enough spice. A couple more cocktails and a glass of wine and it was time to order dinner. Ribeye, baked potato, blue cheese wedge salad. All of this is shareable! Of course if you are a carnivore like my husband, you would want to have the steak all to your self! We could not leave without sharing their cheesecake for dessert! The best cheesecake I have ever had. Great service and friendly atmosphere! True Italian hospitality. I have known a few Rocco's in Albuquerque, NM who attended Catholic school with me. Not a very common name in my part of the country. We will be back! Worth every penny!

When going into Rocco you feel like you are being transported back in time into a classic steakhouse! The food and service were world class and our steak was the best I have had in a while!

Their steaks are cooked to perfection, with a mouthwatering char on the outside and a juicy, tender center. Each bite was a burst of flavor that left me wanting more. The sides were equally impressive, with options like truffle mashed potatoes and creamed spinach that complemented the steaks perfectly.

Flew in from Cali for my 35 birthday and my fiancé planned my birthday dinner here. This was hands down my favorite restaurant while in NYC. The ambiance of the restaurant was classy and upscale but still made us feel welcome. We had the seafood sampler, porter house steak and mashed potatoes and it was amazing. The customer service was incredible, we were sat down quickly from our reservations, the waiter was responsive and very helpful and a group of the waisted sang me happy birthday and bright me a complimentary chocolate mousse cake. I would definitely recommend and will be back next time we come to NYC.

Truly wow!! This steakhouse was impeccable from quality of the food to the service itself. Surely the menu is quite extensive with various cuts of steak and seafood options and love the different options for sides. I was very impressed with the service, it was almost like a dance when a few servers come all at once to present the food and serve the food onto our dishes. If they catch your plate empty, they may come back to serve you another piece of meat from the shared table platter. The steak was cooked wonderfully *chefs kiss*, I don't quite think you can go wrong on that. Mac n cheese was great as a side. Our plate of onion rings was massive, biggest onions I've probably seen but I wasn't a big fan of the batter on it. Otherwise this is an excellent steakhouse!

As a steak aficionado for 30 yrs, I had plenty of dining choices for a steakhouse in NYC and decided to eat at Rocco's. It was the best decision I made, the service from mgmt to server was excellent & the dry aged porterhouse for two was as good as Peter Lugers without the attitude-5 stars!!! My only go to place for steak when I'm in NY.

Walking in it's like walking in a beautiful dark time capsule. Big dark oversized wood bar on your right and hostess to the left a little further up. The dining room is big and open, but no windows in here. The windows at the bar were decorated with walls of wine bottles, some I didn't even know they made so big. Yellenia was great. The first drink, an old fashioned, wasn't so great. No garnish and made with a Maraschino cherry! Til this day I cannot find a better place that makes one like Yardhouse ! Shocking, anyway I drank it-fast. We were seated table of 11 I believe and Al was great. The whole staff was pretty great from what I remember after, 2nd dirty Martini ( which I switched to after that old fashion), the only issue was I had to send maybe each dirty martini back because I mean it wasn't dirty. The food was good. I had the bone-in filet mignon very good sear tasted great. My favorite was the lobster mac and cheese, I also had the sautéed broccoli which was yummy as well. I did enjoy that they pack your leftovers for you. I don't usually do groups and that could have effected my overall outlook on this place. I only dine for 2 normally, so 11 was a big difference. Nothing was a wow factor here and there are too many NYC steakhouses for me to probably ever visit this one again.

Great steakhouse. Great service. Great food. Similar to Lugers, Wolfgang's and Benjamin's. It's that dry aged, beefy, buttery taste. If you've been to one, you've been to them all but Rocco makes a great choice to add to the steakhouse rotation. One thing you have to get is the broccoli rabe with cherry peppers. It's a side I haven't seen anywhere else and it's damn good.

We had a great dining experience here. Everyone was incredibly accommodating including change to res last second to putting is by TV to watch big game. This place had the feel of classic steakhouse with Italian flair in a more intimate setting being a fairly small place. Now to food, I got the filet and sautéed broccoli. The filet was not nicely with Pittsburg sear crust and tender medium rare cook. Very tasty meat well seasoned steak as you can get. Even the simple broccoli in garlic oil was solid. My family got the porterhouse for two and veal chop parm. Both were excellent with the veal thicker than typical for parm which I really liked a larger meat to sauce cheese ratio. We started with cucumber salad and Cesar salad and both were pretty good. I saw the crab cakes on yelp as wanted to try them and did not disappoint with crab heavy filling. Service was very attentive constantly keeping our place setting in order for next course. As a courtesy they brought over two plates full of desserts which was such a nice touch to show their appreciation for our business. That's hard to find these days and really made a nice impact to close out the meal. I cannot really anything I did not enjoy about this whole experience and really made an evening with family very special.

We had Christmas Eve dinner at the Rocco. Ambience very nice service is great however after we finished dinner we had diarrhea and my guest had the worst one. Maybe because we ordered the clam as appetizers. Not sure what caused the problem but they need to know and we tried to contact them but unfortunately due to holiday we can't get hold of anybody there.

I just sat at the bar but will definitely return to eat. Seemed like everything a good steakhouse should be. Great service, but limited on wines by glass but well chosen. Delicious house made chips at bar which were still warm when I got them. Bartender despite being busy was very attentive with water and checking on me. Little bit loud and busy, lots of regulars and a couple of really drunk people!

Had an amazing experience at Rocco's! The service was excellent, our waiter recommended a better steak for us at the same price point and picked out an excellent wine for us. The food came out quickly and was delicious and our waiter gave us a free dessert! The ambiance was great for a date night and we had a great time!

First off the staff was fantastic. Friendly, quick, and attentive. The steakhouse is a nice setting, relatively spacious for NYC, and clean. I ordered the bone in filet and it was one of the better steaks I've had. It was cooked to perfection and I'm pretty picky on my steaks. Anyway, my brother and I split the fries which were also very good. Last but not least, the cheesecake....wow was it delicious. Definitely recommend it if available. Great restaurant to stop by if you're in the area. You'll pay a premium but you're getting what you pay for. Highly recommend.

This steakhouse doesn't know how to cook a steak. I ordered a ribeye "rare". It came to the table very charred on the outside and absolutely raw inside. I sent back the steak and they cooked it more and came back to the table way overcooked. They prepared me another steak and it came out with the outside extremely charred and the inside again more on the "black and blue" side. Not only was it not cooked properly, I would say that at least 1/3 of the steak was fat. This would be considered "choice" and not "prime" USDA Beef. The steak was not even dry aged. It was also not even seasoned. Although they did try to rectify it, the quality and taste was unacceptable. A total waste of $140. If you want a proper steakhouse, go to Smith and Wollensky.

Food I got the filet mignon medium rare and it came out so well. The side portions are huge so you can order one side for the party and split amongst everyone. We got the mac and cheese and the fries which went really well with our steaks! The steak sauce they had was really good and was special sauce to Rocco. There was nothing to complain about the steak and it came out in a reasonable time. Service My family decided to go to a steak house in NYC. We didn't have reservation because it was a spontaneous decision and going to the city a reservation is always needed. However we decided to go at the times in between lunch and dinner. I called before coming in to make sure they had tables and they did. After dinner the servers gave us dessert for free because it was my brothers birthday! This was so sweet and we didn't even tell them before coming in. The server was speaking to us and heard that it was my brother's birthday and brought us cake and fruits. This was such a pleasant surprise and very thoughtful!

Excellent food and service!!! I had the privilege to visit on my birthday. We had reservations, but we arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, but we were luckily a PTO be seated without issue. Even if we had to wait there was no long line and I believe we would've been seated at our reserved time. The food is amazing, steak, potatoes, salad, onion rings all came out perfect and tasted great! The steak cooked medium, onion rings crispy(not like those gross frozen ones), the German potatoes were nice and crispy and good! I love potatoes and these made my heart happy! There was no way I was going to finish the food , so I took it back to my room, but before we left I had a great surprise!!! The restaurant sang Happy Birthday and everyone (guests and employees) joined in. This was the best birthday and one that I will remember (I even cried ) I will definitely return and suggest this restaurant to others that may be visiting NY. Amazing is all I can say!

Love Rocco's! My husband and I stumbled on this place last fall and we fell in love. The staff was friendly. We had the same waiter from our last visit and he was so sweet. Happy to see him again. I really wish I remembered his name. We ordered the porterhouse and a bunch of sides. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. Oh and we were surprised with a complimentary dessert to celebrate our return! Definitely recommend! We will be back in the fall!

Came here during lunch time in a cloudy day. It's a very welcoming steakhouse! I like the atmosphere here, very cozy. Steak was perfecto!!! Love the dessert and the espresso. Mac and cheese was a bit cold tho.

Great for birthday celebrations -- staff was friendly and generous with a birthday slice/fruit dish for my brother's birthday. We 3 shared the porterhouse steak and it was super filling, they even serve you the pieces onto your plate which I didn't expect! I liked the mac n cheese side dish. Overall, good ambiance and good steak!

Quick weekend stay in the city, Rocco's, a block away from our hotel, seemed like the right choice. Solid wine list with many options and yes, NYC steakhouse prices. There are certainly several solid choices without reaching triple digits and we jumped on the Luigi Bosco. Chilled, which I'm a fan, but not so much for my wife. Still, very smooth and light. Iceberg Wedge and tomato salad with bacon and Bleu cheese is our go to at prime steakhouses and Rocco's didn't disappoint. The tomato was a bit simple, but the Bleu cheese was extremely flavorful. Both ordered filets, one medium rare (Megan's) one medium (mine). Cute little markers, but my steak was over cooked. My wife's was perfectly cooked. Slightly disappointed, but it wasn't dried out plus the peppercorn gravy saved it. Which the gravy was a surprise, it was definitely tasty and meshed well wonderfully with the potatoes. Finished the meal with NY Cheesecake and a latte. Well, I don't eat cheesecake, but my wife said it was very tasty. I ate the fruit on the platter and can't go wrong with strawberries and melons. The mocha latte, was strong, just what I needed! Despite, a slightly overcooked steak, I have to give Rocco's a five. The service was impeccable and all the food was very tasty. Certainly recommend if you're ever looking for a good steakhouse in the NoMad section of Manhattan.

I've been to Rocco's many times over the years and I've always had the best steaks here. I always find myself coming here a few times a year. With that said, there were a few of things that I hope Rocco does better on. My group will usually order a bacon slice per person to start. For some coincidence, this is the second time I've gotten the smallest slice. Like if you put all of the bacon slices together, you can tell one is significantly smaller than the others. With regard to service, we came at 6 pm and our dining experience as very rushed. There was nobody in the restaurant but they were moving us like they had people waiting. Finally, when cleaning the table, we weren't ask if we wanted to pack the food home. They swooped in a group and took everyone quick.

If you're looking for a good old fashioned steakhouse with incredible food and AMAZING service, look no further! Rocco's is now one of our faves! My cousin Vinnie made the evening perfect with his check ins to make sure we had everything we needed and that it made us happy. The steaks are perfection, the signature chopped salad was so fresh and the desserts are off the charts! Can't say enough about this hot spot on Madison Ave!

I cannot say enough positives about the food or the staff. Our most favorite is server is Al; who always recognizes us when we come in every six weeks. My niece just loves this -- and this time we got to meet Giaccamo--who could not have been kinder and your engaging with us. They both ensured that once again we have a glorious meal and time. We alway start with the tomato and mozzarella for two salad; my niece has the lamb chops. And while we are there for lunch -- we order the dinner portion so she can have leftovers for dinner. Each time she reports they are cooked to perfection! I have the smoked salmon appetizer; and love it. For an appetizer; the portion is large -- and the salmon is fresh and I also have leftovers. We finished with Affogato -- just perfect. Our white wine choice was a wonderful accompaniment. Between the kindness, graciousness and your old world comfort along with the wonderful food that is served -- this continues to be our restaurant of choice! We love Rocco's and we adore the people who are dedicated to making it the experience!

As a non-New Yorker, don't let the name "Rocco" fool you into thinking this is an American Italian scam restaurant. This is the MOST UNDERRATED steakhouse in New York. It's exquisite. Steaks are fantastic, cooked to perfection. The staff is phenomenal and friendly. Cocktails are good. The wine selection could be a little more expansive but there are some good picks nevertheless. I had a perfect dry aged ribeye cooked rare to perfection to the likes I have never experienced in New York. I am coming back here on every business trip to NYC moving forward.

We ordered their porterhouse steak and it was amazing! It was perfectly cooked and the apple pear salad compliments the juicy steak. The service is top notched and very attentive. I really liked the ambiance in this place as it not too dark. To top it off, they also serve us a juicy melon and grapes.

First Class all the way!! Beautiful decor, very comfortable seating, acoustics are great! The service from start to finish is professional but friendly- not stuffy. Rocco's has an excellent wine list and the liquor selection is extensive. The steak & shrimp were terrific as was the macaroni & cheese and onion rings. Dessert was wonderful! Yes, Rocco's is expensive but when you have excellent food, drinks & service, it's well worth it!

Came here with a group of 11 for dinner after a meeting and had a great time. First, we were able to make a reservation for a big group in short notice, which was nice but usually a bad sign. In this case, it didn't matter because we had a great experience. To start I had a Caesar salad which was amazing. For my entree I had a tuna steak, medium rare, which was both healthy and good. They then brought our desert, on the house, which was delicious but also ruined my resolve to be healthy.
