The place is nice and in a great location. The pizza I tried was okay, not bad, but nothing special. The atmosphere was decent, nothing too exciting. I’ll definitely go back though and try another type of pizza, maybe I just didn’t pick the best one the first time.

Google
Never had a New York slice. $6. It’s ok?? Not sure why so many people hype up New York pizza. It’s about the same as pizza you get at shopping malls in most big cities. I regret walking 8 blocks to get here.

Google
Was only in NYC for 2.5 days and tried 4 pizza places. IMO this was the best. I had the Buffalo Chicken, my son had cheese, and a pepperoni. The ranch on the Buffalo chicken was AMAZING. All three had great crust, crispy, but not too crispy.

Google
#4 on PC2.0. I've come to realize that most of the pizza joints in this stretch of the west side are roughly the same. Unless they're pitching a specialty pizza, a slice of cheese or pep is pretty much the same at each location. The tru diff is the toppings. Got sausage here and it's not the worst - far from the best

Google
Excellent! We ordered 3 trays of food for the 30 adults at my sons 6th birthday party at Chelsea Piers (a square Grandmas pizza, eggplant parm platter and a penne vodka platter). Delivery was fast, food arrived hot, lots of plates, utensils and condiments. Easy ordering by phone. Food was delicious -- everyone commented/loved it. Big hit. Will order again. Finding reasonable priced party platters in NYC isn't easy, Rocco's is a no brainer. 5 stars *****

Google
I was always told to get New York style pizza when I came to New York. There were a ton of pizza places around every corner. We chose Roccos Pizza and we are so glad we did because they are amazing! The food the service the everything!! Will be coming to this pizza place again when I come back up!!

Yelp
Stopped in here while walking down the street to Empire Cake. Any time there is a slice house I am more than game with swinging in and grabbing a few. Not a large area - but for grab n go and a few tables inside and outside. They weren't busy as it was right after the lunch crowd. The guy working took our order and got us in and out quickly. We shared a grandma (square with pepperoni) as well as a margherita slice. Both were VERY GOOD. Arguably the two best slices of the weekend. Dough was fresh, proper bake on each, and fresh tasting ingredients. I noticed they also had pasta options as well, so this could be a fallback if in the area and reservations elsewhere falls through.

Yelp
Good place to go for the lunch special. Don't expect anything fancy or mind blowing. Two mediocre slices and a can of soda for $6.50 - which is a pretty great deal in the city. The restaurant is clean and cuter than you expect it to be. Small, with a few tables and chairs should you choose to eat there. The cashier will act less than thrilled that you have decided to visit the establishment, but consider it part of the New York ambiance. Very important note: the lunch special begins at 11:30am. Avoid like the plague from 11:30am-12:30pm on weekdays. There are schools nearby and the entire place gets overrun with loud tweens and teens. Nightmare fuel, for real. Otherwise, drop in and enjoy a cheap bite to eat.

Yelp
Hmmm, Rocco's may be slipping. Lately, I had noticed a decline in quality. This time was the worst. Grandma slice literally dripping grease everywhere. Sauce was harsh and unpleasant. Garlic knots cloaked in too much garlic powder and also little grease sponges. Boo!
google avatar

Adam G.

Yelp
The food here was pretty good for a first visit but the slices were deff a must with the variety as well ( kiss the fingers). The service was quick an easy didn't have to struggle on ordering anything. It was also decorated like something out of a small Italian spot not like a pizzeria but more of a small villa on the coast but then you look out the window and it's the big apple. For a person who's always on the go for a few slices was deff a must go deff gonna order else be prepaid es for a star update after the second visit

Yelp
Small place with limited inside seating, making takeout the option that day. Luckily, I've done delivery twice and their pizza travels well. Unlike a lot of other places, they don't skimp on the toppings because you order more than one. I worked in a pizzeria during college, making thousands of pies...so I have some experience to make that statement. Some restaurants spread the ingredients further out to increase the profit margin, which negates your enjoyment. They'll say it creates a better visual, which it BS...it's $ they're looking at. Some alleged foodies have bought that BS and spread "the visual" perspective on their reviews and social media. You can prefer plain cheese pizza because it's a taste preference, and we all have them...but show me someone who orders toppings on a pie and doesn't want said toppings in each bite, and I'll call fraud. Pizza is a guilty pleasure food. Look at the pie and you can see Rocco's philosophy on pizza; pepperoni cups filled with unctuous spice and chunks or unsymmetrical balls of ground Italian sausage. I haven't had the opportunity to eat table-side there yet, but if it gets to your home in a box this good, fresh out of the oven on your table has to be better. Cheers

Yelp
This grandma slice is the best slice in New York City . If you are looking for great slice . This is place to be good drinks and great food
google avatar

Yelp
Standard cheap NYC pizza. Tastes like all the other pizza shops. Their Grandma slice looked fantastic and I wish I had gotten that instead.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
I can't believe I didn't get a picture of this pizza but I vote the cheese slice here too be the best in New York or had the crispness, the sauce the cheese!! Enriching delicious you can think of was there. Keep it up Roccos!!

Yelp
Bought 3 pizzas and drinks. Asked to use the public restroom but rude man behind counter refused, saying there were too many people. Place was empty. Joke.

Tucker L.

Yelp
How do you have a sit down and stay option with no available bathroom. It's really inconsiderate especially for people with kids. Good thing there are a million pizza places in NYC to choose from in NYC so I don't need to come back here.

Castle M.

Yelp
This evening, an employee at Rocco's announced, "We close in three minutes!" At least one customer still hadn't started on his second slice. I was basically done with my pizza and not nearly done with my soda, but I chose not to rush. When I was done, I announced to him that it was incorrect etiquette to give three minutes' notice. Even in cafés, they announce 10 minutes' notice. Rather just let that remark be, he felt compelled to offer a rebuttal. "We close very night at 10." I indicated that there's no clock on display there, and left. The pizza there is average. Other pizzerias in the area offer below-average pizza. The design of the frontage and the interior is above average. The service from previous visits was acceptable. Rocco's, please announce a closure notice at least 10 minutes. When someone pays you for their purchase within the final 25 minutes of the day, gently inform them of the amount of time until closing. Meanwhile, it's not necessary to eat at Rocco's.

Yelp
Rocco's is my go-to when I want simple, tasty pizza. I'm a fan of adding mushrooms. They never skimp on the veggies. Delivery arrives hot and not smushed,

Jay R.

Yelp
Went to Rocco's (8th Ave) today. A gentleman who said he was the owner (Carlos) for 25 years refused me service. I had my Service Animal with me. I showed him the ADA website, but he said he was the owner, and I should leave my service animal at home. Just a very poor experience......certainly not the worst thing to happen to me, just a sad moment. After I got over it ..... the bright side: went to Zia Maria on W23rd and had a delicious meatball and eggplant pie!!! Perhaps the owner can read the ADA website as it is a federal law.
google avatar

Nikole G.

Yelp
Super hungry- saw the pizza deal and came in. All is the pizza slices were sizable and tasty to boot. Definitely glad we stopped in!!!
google avatar

Britt C.

Yelp
Everyone will tell you why their pizza spot is the best and why you HAVE to go there but we stumbled upon Rocco's after escaping a WAY too crowded Chelsea Market and now I'll tell anyone who will listen about it. Super cute little spot, indoor and outdoor seating available and comfortable. The pizza is my favorite in NY and I think I've tried most of them at this point, ha! Great NY style pizza without the tourist fuss and fan fare. The perfect neighborhood spot.
google avatar

Deidre M.

Yelp
We waited for slices of fresh pepperoni pizza since most of the offerings looked like they had been there a while. It was mediocre nonetheless and served by a grumpy cashier. I won't be back.

Mandip S.

Yelp
i went this place first of all the guy don't know how to talk then I paid for my food ask him to use restroom then he said you can't use restroom even tho I use all the time then I ask who is the owner he telling me I'm the owner then I cancel my order take money back after all the service sucks
google avatar

Frank T.

Yelp
My favorite "pizza joint" in the city, well at least in Chelsea. Your typical slice, or pie, done right. Really nothing to complain about as a slice goes. I'm in this neighborhood quite a bit and stop in whenever I need something quick and don't want to think too hard about where to go. Delivery is also very good if you're in their zone.
google avatar

Jenny B.

Yelp
They have gluten free and vegan pizza! It's a solid place in our book for that :-) A nice little outpost for a pizza drop-in. Nothing fancy.
google avatar

Jazmine R.

Yelp
Amazing cortados, if you're into that late night cafe with pizza and coffee- you won't be disappointed!

Isabel O.

Yelp
Horrible customer service cashier has major attitude problems and pizza was bad and stale. There are better pizza shops around. Never going back to this pizza place.
google avatar

Kyle M.

Yelp
Great local spot for no frills. Grandma slice and chicken tomato are great.... they switched pepperoni so I'd pass on that.. Baked ziti and the sandwiches are awesome. Friendly and fast..
google avatar

Julianna M.

Yelp
Alright Frankie, we're here at Rocco's Pizza Joint in Chelsea. There was no NYC flop to this pizza. One bite everyone knows the rules. I was looking for a quick slice of pizza before heading to a local speak easy. Rocco's was open and pretty empty. It makes me believe they do a decent amount of take out from here. I got a margarita slice - I would rate this a 6.2. Not the worst, but also not the best. There was A LOT of oregano on this slice. The crust was very crunchy. A specialty slice was $4.00. They have a few seating options, can fit about 15 people? If you're looking for something quick it's a good option.

Yelp
I ordered a large 18 inch pizza for takeout over the phone-- half pepperoni and half mushroom. When I went to pick up my pizza, I was charged for 2 toppings ($3.50 each). I was confused since I just got half and half and assumed that counted as one topping. The cashier told me that even though I got half, it counted as two toppings and that I would have been better off getting both toppings on whole pizza and it would have been the same price. What?! Is this normal pizza topping protocol? I have NEVER heard that logic before and was sorely disappointed in this practice and let them know they should notify the customers when they are ordering that this is how they will be charged. I was not quoted a price when I placed the order and if I had been, would have changed the order. An additional few bucks isn't going to kill me, but this practice is not cool. The pizza was decent, but I will not be a repeat customer.

Vincent F.

Yelp
It should be dollar pizza because they use cheap ingredients. 4 people standing behind the counter while the dining area was dirty.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Ordered via Uber eats and the driver canceled (expected nothing less from Uber eats). I called the shop and the gentleman understood my situation and I think he got one of his own guys to deliver the pizza. 5star service and the pizza was tasty! Will order again.

Scott R.

Yelp
Rocco's has been my go-to pizza place since forever. I don't know why, but once they moved to their 8th avenue location the pizza seemed to me to dip in quality. Now they've raised their prices and shrunk the pies from 18" to 16". I'm sad to say that I'm giving up on Rocco's. The slices are just too small now.

Gabriel K.

Yelp
Rude and not even Italian. There is better pizza in this city for sure! Save your time and money
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
Definitely a must try! It's a great local spot and nothing beats the classic slice. I'm absolutely coming back to try out all the other slices they have to offer.
google avatar

Yelp
If this wasn't in ny it would still be bad. Absolute disgrace for ny pizza. No flavor even with all the fixings. Do yourself a favor and walk to Joes pizza

Yelp
This review for lunch is long overdue. My food travels take me to Rocco's as the logo appears very 1950's Retro, yet the inside is far from being Retro. One sausage Calzone $6.50 (includes sales tax) + waiting for fifteen eternal minutes = indigestion for three hours!! I waited for a very long time for my order to be heated which the server never called out my order's name nor alerted me that it is ready for pickup. OKAY, so I stood in front of his face to attain my order!! Overall, the sausage Calzone was extremely greasy and dripping with oil. There was so much Ricotta cheese everywhere and only two measly pieces of sausage which was skimmed and dupe for quality. A takeout menu is available which my copy has immediately been discarded. Why does anyone want greasy food to clog the arteries, increase blood pressure and spike one's cholesterol level?? Minimal seating is available. No facilities are available for customers. No written sales receipt is produced. Staff are impersonal and callous.

Yelp
Great pizza - love this spot. Definitely recommend cheese and also grandmas pepperoni

Yelp
Came here last night on a whim with Ingrid S. after attending the Lollpalooza of career fairs last night. We were on a professional mini-bender and in desperate need of noms. Cheesy noms. As per usual, neither of us were craving anything in particular and nothing in the immediate neighborhood was looking particularly appetizing...we finally decided that we wanted cheesy...I was craving pasta...but Italian places in this hood are to be savored for more formal dinner plans - not for mini-bender munchies time. Pizza. YEAH, PIZZA WORKS AND THEY MIGHT EVEN SELL PASTA! I was sold. To be honest I would have gotten pasta here had they had something creamy inspired or preferably, freakin' Alfredo sauce. Between you, me and the billions of people that visit Yelp on a daily basis - I love Alfredo sauce. I can't get enough of the stuff. It's my spirit ani-sauce. It's my spirit sauce. But they do have regular tomato sauce pasta, lasagna, some salads, garlic knots and other rando Italian-inspired options on their menu - all reasonably priced. Between it looking clean, having a Department of Health "A" grade and smelling yummy inside we were sold on making this our home for the next 35 minutes. We ended up getting a cheestastic cheesy calzone (which came served with a small side and a slice of sweet, Italian sausage pizza. We went halfsies on both things and to be honest, both were actually quite decent. I would totally go back for that cheese calzone, it was cheesegasmic.

Yelp
This small place was honestly a wonderful pizza joint. I got grandmas pizza which was incredible. I wouldn't say this is the best place for scenery as it is a bare-bones pizza shop but it's quick and cheap! Will be going back if I'm in the area. P.s. I'm not a big pizza person in general so that should speak volumes to how good their food is!

John B.

Yelp
Bad pizza and even worse staff. The guy behind the counter was awful. Needed yo telling him to F his pizza and left.
google avatar

Yelp
Ten years ago I had my first internship in NYC a couple blocks from Rocco's. I used to go for lunch a few times a week to get an inexpensive but delicious slice. Was in the neighborhood again today and had to stop by. A lot had changed in the neighborhood, but not Rocco's. Still inexpensive, still delicious. Best NYC pizza joint atmosphere.
google avatar

Stuart M.

Yelp
I've been ordering from here for 3 years but today my delivery took over 2 hours and after lying several times to me about my deliver status they canceled. Unbelievable. I will never order from them again and will report it to their managers tomorrow.
google avatar

Olivia W.

Yelp
I ordered and realized I ordered from the wrong restaurant and it wasn't for delivery I called to switch to delivery and it was too far to deliver so I asked for a refund seeing that I couldn't pick up because of no transportation and the restaurant was closing in less then 30 minutes and I was 35 minutes away I was told I would not get a refund by the restaurant also wouldn't be able to get the food the next day unless they froze the pizza they already had made and given to me from the night before HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND they stole $50 from me and REFUSED to do anything about it I would give no stars if I could
google avatar

Luke O.

Yelp
Gramma's style pizza is some of the best square pizza I've had in NYC. The wheat dough with veggies is full of flavor. The other pizzas are average.
google avatar

Robert A.

Yelp
Rocco's Pizza Joint has the most delicious pizza, great staff and amazing atmosphere! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Very good by the slice and great place to sit and eat, cute nostalgic style, and loved the wheat crust! Also, if you need a bit more they have a full fast Italian food menu.
google avatar

Carly M.

Yelp
Pizza is good. Nothing fabulous but definitely hits the spot. They always have a good selection. And grandma slices which are great!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Ravioli, Chicken Parm or pizza, you can't go wrong! It's all delicious and easy and fun. The name says it all!!
google avatar

Yair L.

Yelp
I'm a pizza junkie, so it's hard to disappoint me with a bad slice. It was a rainy day and I was craving a quick snack. I Yelped to check where's the closest pizza place, and this one brought up. I went in, the place is pretty casual, nice, nothing special. The slices come in squares. I took the regular "Grandma" pizza, whole wheat and one with olives. Each slice was approximately 3.50$, which is pretty pricy, but casual for a place located in Chelsea. I grabbed Cola Zero and waited around 2-3 minutes for my pizza to warm up. The slices were good. Some places make the whole wheat pizza pretty tasteless, but here it was pretty good. I liked the regular better than the one with the olives. Overall, good experience. Not sure I'll come back, but if I ever be in the area, and it'll be raining, I might stop by again.
google avatar

Ingrid S.

Yelp
Came here about a month ago after an open bar social media event. Go figure. I'm also behind, I know. BUT Stephy and I were drunk, per usual, and on the hunt for oddly sushi I think at the time in Chelsea. But the place she was thinking of had shuttered. We were having no luck and ran into this. They have an A rating (mega bonus). They even sell pasta. Okay! But between the two of us we split just a regular slice of sausage/cheese and a cheese calzone. Shockingly actually pretty good. The calzone was really excellent and served with tomato sauce on the side. Both warm and filled to the brim with ricotta and a nice crust that wasn't too thick and or doughy. Also, pretty cheap. If I were drunk and again in the neighborhood I would definitely remember this spot!
google avatar

Robert M.

Yelp
Howdy Yelpers. Please join me in my campaign to rename Rocco's Pizza Joint "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Slice." My point? You won't remember the experience. There's nothing terribly wrong with the pizza, but nothing quite right about it either. Feel free to choose your favorite slice from their unremarkable selection of forgettable combos. Try to crack the steely indifference of the three dudes who make the pies. (My money's on the dudes!) Trust me: upon stepping back out onto 7th Avenue, the meal will be erased from your memory. Permanently. I gotta admit, though --- I find myself intrigued by Rocco. Who is he? What makes him tick? Why is he never around? Why is his pizza bitch-slapped by DiGiorno's frozen? So many questions, so few answers.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! Ordered a margarita pie and a mushroom pie and it came hot and on time. Each bite was better than the next.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
I walk past this place all the time and finally came here Saturday afternoon for a hangover slice of pizza. Worked wonders, felt significantly better after, maybe not a direct correlation but hey. They have a few good whole wheat options like grilled vegetable or broccoli rabe sausage pizza. I opted for the former. Delicious but quite greasy. They advertise gluten free options outside but it's only available if you buy the entire pizza. Besides pizza they've got Salads, garlic bread, lasagna, calzones and some chicken dishes. Nice quaint place, just wish pizza was less greasy. I'll probably come back when the craving strikes again.
google avatar

Jonette R.

Yelp
These guys are cheap and push old pizza on non suspecting delivery orders. I ordered a large grandma pie about 20 minutes before closing. I received the pizza and to my surprise while the outer corners of the pie looked great but the inner pieces looked very oily and much darker than the rest. As I pulled the pieces apart it turns out they pieced together a pizza for me based on what they had left at the end of the night (the center was whole wheat dough and the outer was regular pizza dough). Not to mention I ordered the pie with no cheese due to a dairy allergy. I can see reminents of the cheese that they peeled off the pizza. Totally f*cked up....lose a customer so that you can save $1??
