I've been to Rocco's before and had good food, which is why I chose to return tonight instead of going to another restaurant. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. We arrived 40 minutes before closing for a table for two, only to be turned away in an incredibly unprofessional manner.
As someone with extensive restaurant experience--from casual dining to fine dining--I understand the realities of a busy night. I also know that a full restaurant near closing means you'll still be serving well past your posted hours (I'm not saying anyone SHOULD STAY- we just wanted a simple and fast pasta)- That's part of the business. But instead of handling the situation professionally, we were simply dismissed, as if our business didn't matter.
To make things worse, by the time we left, the other restaurant we had considered was already closed. So not only were we turned away at Rocco's, but we were left without anywhere to eat.
What makes this even more disappointing is knowing that Rocco's has strong Italian ties. Being Italian myself, I know that true Italian hospitality means making people feel welcome, not turning them away. Good food is only part of what makes an Italian restaurant great--the warmth, generosity, and service are just as important. Tonight, Rocco's failed to live up to the very values that should set it apart.
This was a huge letdown. A restaurant's reputation isn't just built on good food but also on how they treat their customers. Tonight, Rocco's made it clear that they don't value their guests. I won't be back.
Excited here to say: we arrived around 820, with a posted closing time of 9pm.
When we got there, there were plenty of customers still eating and orders being taken. Not sure what our pre-planned order would have changed.
