My wife and I enjoy discovering small, family-owned wineries, and Roche Winery in Sonoma definitely has that charm. We both enjoy Pinot and Chardonnay, and their wines suited our taste perfectly. On our first visit, we sampled a few wines and ended up joining their wine club. The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed, and most of the staff we met were friendly and knowledgeable -- they took the time to explain the wines and share background on the vineyard. As club members, we also appreciate that the pricing is reasonable compared to other wineries, and they offer plenty of fun member events.
We recently attended their barrel tasting event, which was well organized and enjoyable overall. However, the service experience unfortunately fell short. The associate assigned to us was absent for most of the event, and when we were ready to place an order for a case of wine, we had to look around to find her. When we did, she seemed disinterested in taking our order -- not exactly the level of service we expected, especially as members. We even spoke with another couple who felt similarly.
After reading other reviews, it seems our experience with inconsistent service isn't unique. We truly hope Roche addresses this, because the potential is there -- great setting, solid wines, and many genuinely warm and knowledgeable hosts. We wish them well and look forward to seeing improvements in the future
