The food is exceptional! The steak frites were sooo tender and delicious, also I liked the calamari appetizer a lot:) Spinach salad was great!! So my experience was great at this place I highly recommend that restaurant

We were there during the holiday season The lights downtown were beautiful our waiter Patrick was fantastic. The entire staff was great. The food was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the angel raviolis! It was a perfect way to celebrate our 3-year anniversary.

Came here for Sweetest Day and my girlfriend and I had a fantastic experience. Jonathan (Jon) was our server and he did an amazing job and was very hard working and made perfect recommendations off of the menu. We even saw him inspecting dishes and wiping the rim of a dish off at another table so that it had perfect presentation before it was served to the customer. A truly fine dining experience and a place that goes the extra mile for the customers. We loved the butter and the black sea salt for the bread, the filet was perfectly prepared “Pittsburgh Style” which is a lost art at many steakhouses, the frog legs were to die for, and the fries that were served with them were like the best McDonald’s fries you’ve ever had and then elevated to the next level. My girlfriend had the seafood Ravioli which she said was stuffed with lobster and loved it. We finished the night off with an awesome monster sized hot fudge cream puff and I had the best Brown Sugar Old Fashioned ever served and my girlfriend had a very tasty cucumber martini. Ryan also popped in at our table a few times and was truly a pleasure to speak with. You can tell that he truly cares about the restaurant, his customers, and his coworkers. This was our first time at the Rochester Chop House and we will 100% be back very soon for another memorable evening. 5 stars and 2 big thumbs up!

Google
We’ve given Rochester Chop House & Bar two chances, and unfortunately, both visits were underwhelming. The best word to describe this restaurant is mediocre. I’ve tried two different steaks here, and both were surprisingly bland. A properly cooked, well-seasoned steak should not need to be smothered in sauce or covered with salt and pepper at the table. Yet everyone in our group reached for both. The portion sizes for appetizers and the so-called “shareable” sides were disappointing and small enough that we left still feeling hungry. The bacon "wrapped" shrimp starter isn't even wrapped in bacon, the 3 shrimp just had shredded bits of bacon. Service was similarly lackluster. On our last visit, the waitress asked if I would like a salad with my steak. The way she phrased it made it sound like it was included, only for it to appear as an extra charge on the bill. I do not appreciate being upsold by surprise. If you are looking for a properly cooked, flavorful steak, skip Rochester Chop House and go to Steakhouse 22 instead. They know how to do it right.

Google
I really wanted to like this place, but mediocre best describes it. Cardboard placemats on top of white tablecloth ruins the ambience and elegance that the restaurant is trying to seek. Zero specials on the menu, we did go on a Tuesday night, but it is also Thanksgiving week so there is an increased volume for all restaurants. They do offer a wide selection of cuts so there’s that but this restaurant feels like it is constantly playing catch-up, but it won’t get there. Sidenote the men’s bathrooms don’t even have a barrier wall between urinals. Major renovations needed.

We had a great anniversary dinner. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Jonathan, the dining room manager, topped the night off with pure kindness. I told him they needed to bring back Sanders fudge for their cream puffs and we discussed how Sanders no longer sells to restaurants. As we wrapped up our meal Jonathan presented us with a SANDERS cream puff. He ran to Sanders and bought a jar… what a guy. We will be back and look forward to conversing with Jonathan. Thanks for the top notch customer service.

No other way to say it, the food was bad. Really bad. Bread basket was good, along with the wedge salad. Everything else was brutal. My wife’s steak was bland, chewy, and overall just cooked really poorly. I got the helicopter chicken which was served with fried gnocchi and an assortment of mushrooms. The chicken was cooked well, but the entire dish was so salty, I was almost inedible. The gnocchi was overcooked. We ordered a blue cheese hash brown appetizer which was also a salt bomb. Our Brussels sprout appetizer was so bad we maybe took 1 bite each. Our server was nice, and she noticed we didn’t eat so she took it off the bill without us saying anything. The table next to use had to send a couple of dishes back for them being cold. My wife’s steak and I both didn’t feel well later in the evening after our meals. Just a really poorly experience. Won’t be going back.

Google
Overpriced, waitress was really good and considerate. Food was extremely bland, doesnt add up considering the hype and area that the restaurant is in. Sent all the food back, and left. Manager didnt even bother stopping by to hear our concerns, we were dismissed like school children. Wont be going back, the food really is bad, except the rolls! Bread was decent. Pretty crab cakes were microwaved as they were extremely mushy with no crust, and overly piping hot (unnaturally so). Felt very lazy, didnt want to stay.

Yelp
Made a reservation a week ago and upon arrival we were quickly seated to a nice size both for four. Our server, Melissa was at our table almost immediately with a warm greeting and of course to take our drink orders and if we wanted any appetizers. We opted for the Calamari and Escargot both delicious and long to get it either. Dinner from a readers point was will be boring as we all ordered the same 7oz Filet with everything from zip sauce to mushrooms as add ons. Everyone loved their dinners and service was delightful, thank you Mel.

Yelp
Just spent $500 with tip for Easter Sunday dinner for four. Outstanding food and great service from Leona. Restaurant closed at nine. We were the last ones in the restaurant at 8:15 when bus staff started moving tables, stripping, linens, moving chairs all around us. All of a sudden I'm getting the bums rush. Where am I Pizza Hut? Mentioned this to the 20 something "Manager" on my way out and she stared at me like a a deer in headlights. Hopefully this little note earns me a reply from her boss. This would never happen at the Capitol grill. What had the potential to be a five star outing ends up being a three. It ain't over till it's over.

Yelp
We sat in the back - fine dining section. The service was great, personable, attentive just the right amount and helpful. Very classic Chop House setting, reminded me of my childhood- in all the good ways. It's a beautiful place. Food was excellent. This was one of the few times all 10 of us ordered, basically the same thing but it was worth it! Steak Friets with the steak from Snake River Farms, and Steak Delmonico. They cooked the steak in all different ways and we all received our order perfectly. Soup- delicious Salad (house and Caesar) - delicious All the sides - delicious Dessert - delicious Great wine list. Great for group, dates, special occasions or treating yourself.

Yelp
I've always been a big fan of the Rochester chophouse, but I have to say that recently it's gone downhill, at least the food. Yesterday I had lunch there, and we ordered for the table escargot and shrimp cocktail. Then we had the California Fish tacos and salmon. There were a couple glasses of wine and a shared dessert as well. Go with the puff pastry. The puff pastry had kind of a raw underside to it. The shrimp cocktail didn't look super fresh. The California fish tacos were excellent but the salmon was average at best. Problem first of all for our lunch and everything I describe it was over $200. The place is pricey but that actually threw me a little bit 130 140 would've been much more appropriate for what we had. Here's the bigger problem . Both of us got sick. I am convinced I got food poisoning and spent the entire night and all of this morning in the bathroom. So did my guest. I'm not sure what caused it. My guess is the escargot, but it could've just as easily have been a stomach bug that's flying around. I'm not for sure but the fact that both of us were sick with food poisoning symptoms tells me something wasn't right. I'm not going to stop going to Rochester chophouse on occasion but I will be a lot more aware of what we are ordering and focus on more basic things. I certainly won't get the escarole again. I do love the ambience of the place. It's classic old-school chophouse vibe. The servers are always friendly. But I have to say that this time I was extremely disappointed. I just don't feel like a person who get sick at a place like the Rochester chophouse. Again could've been a bug , but I really don't think so

Yelp
Totally recommend this restaurant for date night or even with kids too. I went with husband and son. My son was entertained with drawing on the brown paper cover that they put on the table. Classy enough, the restaurant only supplies black crayons. I thought it was so classy to keep the aesthetic of high end dining. We ordered beers and wine. The waiter was very knowledgeable of all menu items. We ordered the escargot. I found it refreshing that the bread basket had a variety of different style breads and they also serve you a medley of veggies in a vin-egret style dipping for the bread. We also tried the lobster bisque soup and the chowder. Both great choices. The main courses were delicious. We went for the steak and the shrimp risotto. We shared the main dishes and still had to take some home. So it's a good amount. There's a near by parking garage. Which is very convenient.

Yelp
You're transported to a Christmas village but with exquisite food. The line for this restaurant doesn't tell how fast the service actually is. We're automatically greeted and the waiter greets you with hot bread and a bean salad (very delicious). If the food isn't good enough the lights outside will make you feel warm and cozy. A must stop for great food!

Yelp
Overall it's a fantastic place to go to for date night. However I'm in town for work and wanted to have a steak and a drink. The 9oz center cut filet, medium, which came out more well-well done was very disappointing for $48. My old fashioned was rather good but still $20 for it felt like a lot. The service at the bar was just okay. I would like to go back to get some seafood as the oysters looks excellent.

Yelp
Enjoyed our dinner. Excellent food. Highly recommend. Definitely a good spot for dinner.

Yelp
Oh the jumbo lump crab cakes at the Rochester Chop House! Lightly breaded with huge pieces of crab & a wonderful rouille. We loved every bite. The NY strip was also amazing. Gorgeous steakhouse atmosphere & perfect locations for a romantic date night. Downtown Rochester is gorgeous this time of year with all the lights.

Yelp
They def need a nice deep clean of the place. However, food, service and theor lavender drinks are amazing

Yelp
This is a very nice atmosphere - dimly lit with wood finishes and wine decor. With this place being more upscale we didn't like that there was still brown paper over the tabletops, like they have at their other more casual restaurants. We felt that it downgraded the overall experience. The wine was good and we also got the mussels. The sauce was very tasty, we wished there was more of it!

Biggmikolow M.

Yelp
Great ambience, fresh food , reasonable drinks overall amazing experience for a date night

Yelp
The last time we were here was probably ten years ago. And unfortunately it might be another decade before we return. I'll go with the good first; I was the only one who didn't get a steak. I got the chop house salmon and I wasn't disappointed. It had shrimp, some lobster all on top of a kale and bacon creamy tomato sauce. The salmon was slightly burnt underneath but it wasn't a big deal. The salmon was cooked to a nice medium and along with the other seafood on my plate, tasted great. I also got a Caesar salad with anchovies and it was good. The things I don't understand are why you charge $5 for a "zip sauce" that was basically just oil (see picture of steak). My wife got the steak medium and it was more medium rare which I would love but she did not. Our friends both got steak and no one was blown away by the quality or preparation of it. So overall it was just ok.

Yelp
DON'T TRUST THIS PLACE! THEY ARE THIEVES! My husband hosted my 30th birthday here on 11/14. We had a total of 17 people attend the birthday dinner. We all ate, drank and laughed. Our waitress was Bridget Morris. From the start of the night, something felt a little off with her. When guests asked her questions regarding the menu she told each person something different. My husband and I had to ask her to come back to us after she was done taking orders because we were still confused about what was included with our entrees. We didn't think anything of it we just thought she was newer. When the bill came we signed it and went about our night. Something still wasn't feeling right after signing. She never gave us the itemized bill, we had to call and ask for it to be emailed to us. After cross checking the bill with our guests, which was so embarrassing asking each person what they ordered that night, we learned Bridget overcharged us in the amount of $508.45. My husband called and talk to the manager, Travis, to explain that we were overcharged. Travis didn't even bother listening to what my husband had to say and immediately took Bridget's side and he said Bridget has been working for me for 8 years and she would never do that. Travis was so rude. He laughed at my husband on the phone, he hung up in my face, he didn't even apologize. Travis was disrespectful, so we escalated it to corporate. Kelly Lupu took over from there she apologized and started an investigation. She admitted to us that we were overcharged. She offered us an amount that didn't cover the overcharges plus the tip. We declined the offer. Since then Kelly or anyone from Rochester Chop House has not tried to make it right with us. We have been so disrespected from everyone we talked to there. This situation has caused us so much embarrassment, stress and time. Travis told my husband that this year has been one of the most successful years for the resultant but clearly it shows that Rochester chop house does not care about their customers all they care about is their pockets. Since they don't even want to offer an amount that covers what was taken from us plus the tip. Kelly told the owner their offer is more than fair and he decided to side with her - just like how Travis was siding with Bridget. We had to get the police involved in this matter. I have documentation and other recordings of them admitting that they robbed us. Check your bills before you sign it. If Bridget Morris was your waitress make sure you look at again and again and make sure she didn't try to do the restaurant any favors by overcharging you.
google avatar

Mandy A.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday party . Our waitress Bridgett was rude and seemed bothered to be at work . She ended up overcharging us by $508 . Management reviewed footage and confirmed she stole $508 from us . They claimed they fired her however managers Kelly and Travis are refusing to fully compensate what chop house stole from us . This establishment is criminal .

Yelp
As Mel Tucker would say, Keep Choppin! As in with some Chops. Fun fact...a "chop" is a piece of meat. A "chaser" is a drink. An "oyster" is an oyster. Nice thing is they have many different kinds. It's the old east vs west coast rivalry, do you go Seattle or Boston? They will tell you there is a different taste, but a slimy oyster is a slimy oyster. Especially if you put some horseradishes on it, Flavor bomb!!! My crazy suggestion is to get a Delmonico steak. I know this is out of left field, but give it a try. They fly them in day of from the constitutional monarchy of Del Monaco. Is that true, idk. Ask for Sarah - she has an encyclopedia like knowledge of world wine regions. If you win the blind taste challenge, free bottle of wine! Just kidding, but she is game for the Pepsi challenge, just try and pick Coke!

Dan P.

Yelp
We went to the Chophouse on March 17th for dinner at 5:30. I ordered the walleye and decided to try it potato crusted. I was surprised by the fish, it was hidden under a pile of hashbrowns so it wasn't potato crusted and it was such a small amount of fish, it was paper thin. The size of half a playing card and so thin I couldn't even scoop it up it just fell apart. Maybe I should have ordered some meat but they didn't have the pork chop that was on their "on line" menu. I'm sure the meat is fine but the walleye was $33 wasted

Yelp
The food was great and the service was even better! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and they did not disappoint.
google avatar

Lincoln P.

Yelp
Excellent staff whose attention to detail is always on high alert. If the kitchen didn't make a meal to your liking then it is corrected. Great venue for the business lunch of a bygone era. The ambiance here is definitely old school dining club, it is one of the best reasons to visit.
google avatar

Kris M.

Yelp
Outstanding food and atmosphere for a special night out or holiday! Never a disappointment.
google avatar

Yelp
We were celebrating a birthday and the Chop House was an easy choice. It's one of those places we always enjoy but for some reason is seldom one of our options. The positive notes, our server Leanna was personable and attentive. The food cooked well and served appropriately. The negative we ordered cappuccino and espresso with dessert only to be informed that the machine was not functioning ( has not been functioning for a couple months). I may have high expectations but feel if the machine cannot be fixed in a week or less they should find an alternative method until it can be. I have been to other restaurants that if they needed to send a runner out to get an item they didn't have it wasn't a second thought. Will I be back sure, did it ruin the evening no, but I was disappointed enough that 2 nights later I was prompted to write this review

Yelp
A special occasion calls for a special place, really special, and really special is harder to find each day as casual dining has lead to casual well everything. Rochester Chop House is the only place in Rochester where patrons seem to rise to the occasion and dress up for a night out. Not everyone, but it's close. And Rochester Chop House rises to the occasion themselves with a beautiful steak house dining room, waiter's in black and white and an atmosphere that is warm and inviting. Service is on the spot with our party of three, me and two of the tax deductions, out for father's day. We were seated immediately for our 7:00 reservation and quickly brought RCH's breads and butter and signature bean salad in Italian dressing, fantastic. I opted for a Grey Goose martini with BC O's OTR's which was perfect , the non adults had something less medicinal. Oysters to start were ocean fresh with always a great selection. Co-diner and before mentioned tax deduction LH was absent from this trip so I got to eat them all! (Go for cold water oysters anyplace as they have the best flavor.) Entres ranged from NY strip for me, which was done perfectly, to the pork chop for Al H 4 and shrimp for EH, all receiving high marks. RCH no longer has a piano player, and he is sorely missed but no demerits, he was just icing on the cake. A fantastic night out all around. So splash out for a special night and try the Rochester Chop House in downtown Rochester you won't be disappointed. And remember it's not good cause it's expensive it's expensive because it's good! Rochester Chop House...go!

Michelle S.

Yelp
By far my favorite restaurant in Rochester. Been going here for 30 years on several different holidays and special occasions. You just can't go wrong.
google avatar

Danny M.

Yelp
My wife and I ate here for the first time. The oysters were amazing and their mussel appetizer was beyond reproach. I give this place a big thumbs up! They also serve nice steaks.
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
This is a really cozy and warm spot for a light or multi-course meal. I have been here for both such occasions. It's also nice enough for a romantic meal or a casual friendly and conducive spot to catch up with a friend. It's a versatile enough spot to cater to many types of social gatherings. My go to is their oysters and crab cakes. One day when things open back up, maybe I will make room for their stuffed mushrooms. But I have my favored items here. Their service is always friendly and the staff have always been attentive. Looking forward to dine-in opening up again, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Mr. S.

Yelp
Eager to attend a family dinner celebrating an 81st birthday at a nice restaurant. Our server was wonderful, appetizer's delicious . I ordered a simple meal Clam chowder, twin Maine lobster with mashed potatoes and green beans. Others had steaks and fish... mine was cold soup, cold lobster, cold potatoes... I did not wish to distract from the gala focusing on the guest of honor ..... key lime pie was warmer than the entrees.
google avatar

Heidi W.

Yelp
Fantastic food/ staff/ and ambiance . My family has been dining here for over 30 years! Still my favorite restaurant by far !
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Came here with a larger party for a special occasion and had reservations. Were sat 45 minutes late because they let the other party stay in the table area. They asked us to wait in the overly crowded bar at Kabin Krusers. We finally get seated and the party who sat there previousy is lingering around the table. Server and hostess does nothing to ask the party of ten to move out of the way. We edge into our seats and these same folks are standing right behind us drunk and loud. This lasted for another 30 minutes until I had to ask the manager to move them. Our table was 8 feet from the hostess stand, so staff knew what was going on and did nothing. Really, really uncalled for RCH. I have eaten at your establishment many times in 25 years and you would never let this happen in the past. Another reason we won't be back is the lack of vegan entrees. There literally is nothing on the menu to eat. You can get salad and a side of green beans after begging them to cook it in oil not butter. They will make you a small pasta dish with some lack luster veggies on it/no sauce and happily charge $30. It's not good either. If you like overpriced meat and fish, you're good. Service from our waitress wasn't great. She was overworked and unfriendly. On a positive note, the wine list is good. Not good enough to come back though. Other establishments have better service and have at least one menu item to appeal to plant based eaters.

Yelp
Went here for our anniversary. Reservations make dining here easy and they gave us a card. The inside is nice, I like the decorations and table settings. The distinguished gentleman cocktail was nice. The Maryland crab cakes were a nice appetizer and the bread and beans were good as well. The whitefish was really good, the broccolini was ok. The lobster mac was good. The blacked shrimp and grits were not, I do not recommend them. The shrimp was very dry and the cheddar grits were not flavorful. Overall this place isn't worth the hype. The food is lacking flavor. I'm glad I tried it but we won't be back.

Mason J.

Yelp
To anyone reading this, make sure to read the other 16 reviews that will match my story. Took my wife here for her 30th with a private table of 17 guests. I was overcharged to the point where ownership admitted to me that our server was let go due to being a criminal with a long history of unethical behavior within Rochester chop house's walls. Managers didn't believe me and a less than sufficient refund was offered. No thanks. Still have yet to hear an apology. We had to file our own police report. I have never seen a situation this poorly handled in my life. End of the day, I was robbed, Nobody apologized or offered to make it right. What used to be our favorite restaurant has now left me wondering how many more people were blatantly overcharged and stolen from by that waitress.

Eric D.

Yelp
Love this place for a long time. Vibes are grade food is delicious. Definitely like the hashbrowns not a lot of steakhouses offer hashbrowns.

Yelp
Went with a group of 6 for a business dinner. We were seated promptly at reservation time. The place has a dark wood panel steakhouse atmosphere. The service was great for the entire dinner, Amir was our server. We had cocktails beforehand across the street at a sister restaurant, Kraus and Muir. Their warm delicious appetizer bread was so good that we brought some more over to dinner with us and they had no issues with it. The mussel appetizers were tasty. Filets were good and I recommend the Flash Fried Perch if you like fish. Overall would recommend and visit again.

J M.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years. Consistently great food and service. Location is primo as well!

Paul B.

Yelp
Food taste and quality are the best. Staff is attentive, warm and professional. Drinks are also a 10. The atmosphere is perfect for a couple or large group....our group is normally a party of 12. RCH is the premium of the Kruse-family restaurants. We enjoy Paint Creek Tavern when we're in the mood for outdoor, casual dining.

Cathy S.

Yelp
We always have a great dining experience when we are here. The food is excellent and the service is too. Love the men waiters - reminds me of the old Lelli's in Detroit. This is our go-to for all special occasions.

Cathy E.

Yelp
My husband and I sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. We had a woman bartender with a terrible personality for working with the public. She should be in the kitchen doing dishes. I had to hunt her down ask for a second glass of wine and order our dinners. She almost forgot my second glass of wine until I waved her down again. She did not even bring us our dinners someone in the kitchen did, no bread basket another bartender brought it, or ever came back and asked if everything was ok. I am very understanding when any wait staff is friendly a smile on their face and tells me that they are a bit busy. Oh and the woman sitting next to me is a regular she said the bartender NEVER smiles and is like that all the time. CRAZY! No more tips in the future for horrible personalities!

Sandra W.

Yelp
It was the most perfect evening. Family gathering that hadn't been altogether in a while. Except service - great food!

Jason P.

Yelp
Meh. For the price? Eh. The filet? Good. Should just include the zip sauce and not charge 5 bucks. Frog legs? good from what I hear. Soup cold, served after entree. Booo! Creamed spinach, flavorless, unseasoned baby food - tasted Like onions with 1/2 and 1/2, also COLD. Bread? Meh. Drinks? Average. Overall, cold food, average food flavor, with a tasty filet = I'll go to Andiamo's. The only reason it's not a 2 star is because th oysters were amazing, and filet medium rare was still charred perfectly. AND not ONE. SINGLE. TIME. Ed our waitress or manager ask how everything was after our food came. Not once.

Jill P.

Yelp
Food is good service is less than stellar. They were rude and ruined our anniversary. I can pay a lot of money and not feel welcome at a dozen other places.

sally C.

Yelp
No where near prior standards. Dinner for 2. $ 96: ordered steak with a side salad. Steak came slapped on a plate, no garnish, no veg, no rice or pot. Very mediocre Delmonico for $46, salad was add'l$. Jimmy's perch/mashed pots: very disappointing: froz not fresh fish, potatoes were acceptable. That was it for $96-poor value. No drinks, no dessert. One steak, one side salad, fried perch served with pots and a garnish sauce. Below average food quality for excessive price. Could have any meal at home and it would have been a better quality.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Nice upscale restaurant, but very disappointed with the Perch. It was fishy with several bones. And the marinated tomato relish was awful, I thought it was spoiled! For me this was a miss. Ambiance and service was great.

Yelp
Excellent place for special occasions. Had the roasted duck which was delicious! Otherwise a little pricy....

Yelp
What a great meal! Our service was terrific and the food matched as well. We started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp on top of cornbread. It was good. A little dry, but nice flavors. For the salad, we got the house salad (essentially a chopped wedge with their own, unique dressing) and a Caesar salad. Both were highly recommended. Dressed perfectly, just the right size. We talked about the entrees the entire way home. Enjoying the Crab Cakes and Blackened Salmon, you just can't go wrong. Both were so flavorful, crab cakes had lumps of crab. The salmon was fresh, perfectly cooked and both were accompanied with green beans almandine. For sides, we shared the signature hash browns, grits and lobster and shrimp mac and cheese. They were all good. I wish the hash browns had warm blue cheese mixed in, but instead, they had a few crumbles on top. For dessert, we shared a piece of cheesecake. This was both of our least favorite part. It was alright. Tasted like frozen Sam's Club or Costco cheesecake. If you're going for good food, you'll enjoy yourself. However, if you're seeking a higher end atmosphere, this isn't the place you'll find that. Taxidermy lines the walls on one side, and caricatures on the other. Seemingly, they don't know what they're going for when it comes to the interior of the restaurant. Overall, give it a try. Food is good!

Yelp
We've dined here plenty of times and this time was just as good as our first. Calamari is top notch. I had a filet with zip sauce and my wife had the seafood risotto (seasonal special). Both were AMAZING. Although the blue cheese hash browns are totally not necessary, they are so worth it! Cream puff for desert is always icing on the cake. This is the most consistent steakhouse I've ever been too. Every time I'm there the steak is cooked perfectly and tastes EXACTLY the same. Get the distinguished diner card. For 30$ you get two free b day meals (they just take off the lower price entree) 25% off anniversary and 10% off every other time. We've been members going on 8 years and it's worth it every year.

Yelp
I love the ambiance, super cute place. I always enjoy my food and drinks when I'm there. The girls are amazing, if I recall correctly Chandler and Olivia were their names, they're super friendly and sweet.

Yelp
I've been a RCH patron since I was a wee one. My dad liked the place and so do I 30 years later. Given the fact that I only make my way in once a year these days I appreciate that I've never left disappointed. It's an old standard. I have standards. If I can do it better at home that doesn't work for me. At all. The lobster stew with rice was good. I was full and happy when I left.

Yelp
So we finally get a night out by ourselves in an effort to celebrate our anniversary. We missed the chance on the actual date not so long ago, but celebrated the day we met instead. 25 years and ain't they been grand! We bantered back and forth on where to go and then settled on a local seafood place. After getting bounced around to three different seats one of which was still dirty, well we didn't feel the vibe there and things were going sour before even ordering. So my bride smartly called Rochester Chop House (RCH) while we were seated there. Yes, they could get us a seat and if we wanted something romantic they would be sure to make it so. We got there and greeted the hostess who my wife had spoken with and she was already working to accommodate our request. Then the manager arrived and said we could have most any seat we wanted but also offered us the balcony, by ourselves. The balcony would usually be open on a Friday night but given the holiday weekend business was slower than usual. We jumped at the chance and our waiter JT did a fabulous job treating us like private diners. We started with the bread dish and Oysters Rockefeller. They were fine. Our wine choices were good too. We decided to split our plates with me ordering scallops with a mix of vegetables and rice pilaf. She had the delmonico steak and asparagus with bernaise and mashed potatoes. Surprisingly they made separate plates for the scallops in the kitchen. Eveything was delicious but the scallop dish was a little less warm than I would have liked. But the scallops themselves were sublime. Cooked to perfection and so buttery. The steak was equally good. A great char on a very yummy hunk of meat. As I said, JT and the manager Brett did a great job and of course they surprised us with a little dessert dish. It's been a long time since we went to RCH, in part because the kids have made it difficult, in part because it's a little pricier than it usually merits. But this was a super experience and my wife said we should do every anniversary there. I agreed and said we should do it again next week! I give it a 4.5 rounding to 5. Sitting alone with a personal server definitely earns some points. Thanks again for the great evening.

Yelp
We love chop house! It's our go to for date nights and special occasions. Definitely expect to spend at least $150-200 on a meal for two. We are obsessed with the "bean salad" they bring with the bread at the beginning of the meal. We also think the salads are great and onion soup is to die for! As for mains, you really can't go wrong with any cut of meat here. We keep saying we will try different things each time but we keep going back to the New York strip and filet. We always get a great bottle of wine or a fun drink like an old fashion or dirty martini.

Yelp
Everything so tasty where do I start?! The Mac n cheese side is one of the best around town. Mash potatoes and sautéed mushrooms were great too! The steak is phenomenal.
