Google
The first time here and their sushi tolls were amazing! I honestly wasn't a bug fan of the ramen. It had a very strong flavor, I hadn't had something similar. The "spicy" of it is chili oil, just oil no chili 😭 lol you're better off not getting it spicy and instead ask for sriracha on the side. The Sriracha definitely helped. I would stick to sushi next time. It was very fresh and delicious 😋

Google
Rock and roll sushi is our go to sushi place. The fish is always fresh and delicious, the rolls are creative and innovative. The service is so good and the vibe is very welcome and friendly. I love the decor and that the rolls are named after famous bands. Normally we don’t have to wait. Ana and Daisy was our server and they were both so hospitable and amazing. 5 stars for this great sushi place.

Google
Being from Texas, you don’t get Japanese food this good every day. This was some of if not the best sushi I’ve ever had. The teriyaki sauce on the chicken thigh was by definition Umami, not too salty or sweet as most teriyaki’s I’m used to. The Alaska Roll had salmon and avocado, I cannot say enough how fresh it tasted. And all of this, for $15 on the lunch menu!!!

Google
Huge Portions on the 3 choice bento box, came out to about $21. Quality is good, not great. But a killer deal for the price

Google
I always have the best experience here. They have the best sushi which rolls come super huge. In the city, San Francisco, you won't be able to find this. They all come very small with not alot of variety. I ordered the Cuban and the super lion king

Kim Sengco

Google
Fast service. Great food. Calamari tastes a bit burn though.

Google
Been going here on and off since before the pandemic. Back then the line for dinner would have been a long wait and the restaurant would be packed. Not so much as of recent. The service was good. The food portions for the bento box was quite good. The batter on the tempura was a bit think. And for some reason the tuna was a bit dry, but it wasn't fishy. Overall a solid 3 stars.

Google
So I ordered pick up while on my way back from a hike along the bay trail. Was only 10 minutes away and they estimated my pick up would be ready in 30 minutes. However when I arrived early it was already ready! Super quick pickup service. Odly Utah restaurant where I live doesn't have the baked Lion King and yet it's the roll that got me into sushi. So when visiting this past week, I did a quick search of restaurants that make the roll. I'm glad I was recommended to this place by Google cause some of the best sushi I have ever had. The rolls were huge. The Red Dragon Roll I had might have been the best, largest and fairly priced sushi roll I have EVER had!

Terrysue T.

Yelp
I have come here many times to order take out for my family. Over the phone, they usually say it's about a 20-25 min wait. That's usually accurate on the wait time. The rolls are always packed with stuff and are usually a normal sized roll. I was never disappointed at the taste of the rolls. My favs are Kevin Rock n Roll (love the macadamia nuts) and the White Tuna Lover (love the garlic paste on top!).

Maripaz L.

Yelp
Rock and Roll sushi is the closest Japanese restaurant within walking distance for me. Their 6-piece oyster set is quite good for the price and always fresh. However the head of their Ama-Ebi Nigiri could be crisper. My all-tike favorite is the Hamachi Carpaccio, but for those who aren't into spice I recommend removing the jalapeños. Their green tea tempura ice cream is refreshing and just as I requested, with a light batter. I do wish they had more flavors to choose from, though. On the downside, I asked for a Chardonnay but suspect I was served plum wine instead, or perhaps they needed to open a new bottle. The owners son was very attentive and got all the orders right. Overall, I appreciate the friendly service

Monica M.

Yelp
Rock and roll sushi is pretty good. They have a very large menu with lots of options. It's pretty small inside but the service is good and they even have gluten free soy sauce which is a win for me!

Dee W.

Yelp
Their place is clean and customer service is very welcoming... the food doesn't disappoint me at all very fresh and flavorful I would definitely recommend

Billy L.

Yelp
Stopped here during lunch for the first time. What attracted me to this place is their prices. Bento boxes start at $13 for two items and ramen starts at $12. That is cheap compared to other Sushi/ramen places in San Leandro/San Lorenzo. I got the two item bento which included miso soup, salad, veggie egg roll and choice of entrees. Keep in mind some entrees charge an additional $1. I picked the teriyaki salmon and shrimp tempura roll. My salmon was delicious. The teriyaki sauce is on the sweeter side. The shrimp tempura roll had cucumber inside and unagi sauce on top. I was not a fan of the unagi sauce. It tasted different from other unagi sauce I've had. The egg roll was not good. It taste like those cheap cabbage filled egg rolls you get at the fast food Chinese places. I would definitely come here again try other items or their ramen.

Marcio C.

Yelp
Sushi here is terrific, prices are reasonable. Atmosphere is nice, feels like a sushi bar. I definitely recommend!

Fiona T.

Yelp
This place has very generous portions and affordable prices. The main downsides are that the flavor isn't there and the fish isn't the best. We got the 3 combo with Teriyaki chicken, salmon, and gyoza, ramen, the 14 piece sashimi, lion king, tammys treat, and 1 more roll. The bento was MASSIVE! The size of 2-3 regular bentos! It's a steal! The ramen bowl was also very large and filling. Service was very quick and food came out quick.

Yelp
Rock & Roll Sushi is located in the Floresta Plaza and I heard that they changed ownership, so I decided to come by and give them another shot. They are right by the gym, along with many shops; restaurants; and other businesses as well, so this plaza gets pretty busy, especially during peak gym hours. Parking is hit or miss, but there is usually parking, if you do not mind parking further away. Not much service, as I ordered to go on this particular visit. I ordered the California Hand Roll & Salmon Hand Roll, Sake Maki, and Sake Nigiri (about $28). It took about 15 - 20 minutes for my order, which was not too bad, since I ordered my to go order over the phone. The salmon portion was good, but it did not taste the freshest though, the imitation crab for the hand roll tasted a bit fishy as well, and the seaweed for the hand rolls was tough and tasted stale.

Doreen L.

Yelp
This is the second time I've eaten at Rock & Roll Sushi since it changed ownership. I ordered my usual bento box with beef teriyaki, gyoza, and Inari. The beef teriyaki was tough as the quality of the beef was poor. The salad was watery as they didn't drain the water before placing the lettuce in the bento box. The Inari tasted old as the tofu skin and rice had little flavor and were dry, not moist. The gyoza and egg roll were so-so. Both times I ordered the same dish thinking it was just an off day the first time I ordered the bento box. Nope...the beef teriyaki bento box was just as awful as the first time. My family ordered sushi rolls which I don't eat so I am not rating the sushi rolls but will post the pictures of what they look like. They all ordered bento boxes, too. The chicken teriyaki was better tasting and was soft. However, I felt the chicken had been pounded to make it more tender. The consensus of my family was that their bento boxes were so-so. Overall, our bill came to over $200.00. It was a disappointing dinner, especially for the price. On top of that, they added a service fee (without our knowledge) to our bill. Therefore, we decided not to tip since we figured the service fee was the tip.

Yelp
Love this spot! It is close to my home so I typically do takeout and they are always provide fast and quality service! My favorites are their speciality rolls and soft shell appetizer though I do have to say that my only gripe (and with sushi it can be a rather big one) is that their rolls differ in freshness and quality. I'm not sure why but just be aware. If you need to sit down, expect a more sports bar vibe not necessarily a spot for romantic dates for example.

Alicia L.

Yelp
My experience this time exceeded my expectations in comparison to my last visit for takeout here. My family and I visited for dinner and did sit-down. All of us ordered our own bento meal and a few rolls to share. To our surprise, our bentos came LOADED with the main meat entrees including the chicken teriyaki and I'm not kidding you when I say this - THREE slabs of tonkatsu! They also give you one veggie egg roll, which is awesome. The tonkatsu I'll admit was a little dry, but it was breaded excellently and the teriyaki chicken was absolutely tender! My mom wasn't the hugest fan of her beef teriyaki, but I still thought it was pretty good. They probably could've cooked it a little less though to make it more tender I think. I wouldn't recommend the short ribs though - you may as well just get the beef teriyaki because it's basically the same thing without the bones. The tempura was a little over-fried, but still tasted fine to me. My high satisfaction for this experience mostly comes from the surprising portions and the attentive service with making sure our tea / water was always full, and just that we were good at our table. The only thing I feel they should note somewhere (maybe they do and we missed it? didn't see it on the menu or shown in the restaurant...) is that they automatically add a service charge. Not sure if that's only for a larger group, but it's honestly a bit annoying when restaurants don't disclose that ahead of time. Ambiance wasn't anything special, but it doesn't feel dirty there, so that's a plus! Anywho, planning to be back for a sit-down meal again soon!

Mike O.

Yelp
Food was great and the service was excellent... The sashimi was fresh and the Dragon roll was very very good

Lory Y.

Yelp
Ordered lunch bento box of 2 items. And agedashi tofu. All good & delicious. Ordered online & pickup. Easy! Easy!

Patricia M.

Yelp
The best sushi in the east bay, has all of the classic rolls hand rolls which are slightly harder to find, and really attentive kind staff. Highly recommend the veggie tempura it's the best. Tried sashimi here for the first time and it's the highest bestest sushi grade fish. Plenty of parking and spacious seating for big and small parities. Good ambiance.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've eaten here. Ordered over the phone and picked it up for lunch. I felt like the qualify of the fish has gone down a bit. Ordered Alameda and Hamachi lover roll. The Tuna on the alameda roll was not fresh and tasted like old fish. Very disappointing. However, I did like the salmon and hamachi roll.

Lake R.

Yelp
Think rolls stuffed to the max! They don't skimp out here. Although there is a language barrier when calling in an order they were quick to correct the order and rush the prep for me. Thank you for prioritizing the customer experience

Vickie T.

Yelp
They have a good deal for the lunchtime bento boxes. I got a 2 item lunch bento box for $13, and ordered salmon and agedashi tofu which comes with rice, salad, a small egg roll, and miso soup. Salmon was well seasoned and good. Agedashi Tofu was not crispy. It was soggy had a weird old tofu taste. Would not recommend. The other grip I have with this place is that it has poor to zero ventilation. Be prepared to smell like cooking oil or be looking for fresh air as soon as you sit down.

Daniel S.

Yelp
Very underrated hidden gem. I'll keep it 100 the restaurant was empty on a Sunday evening . The food here was hella good. Service was solid and attentive. I got the floresta roll : 5 out of 5 I really love the solidness of it and the presentation of it made me guilty eating it . Fried Calamari was really fried octopus lol. It was still good to be completely honest but should be corrected on the menu . Rainbow roll : 4.1 out of 5 I love the roll and I know fish and other things can't ever be 100 percent consistent. Felt like we could of got just a tad more of the white fish on that roll but to be honest I was impressed with how quick they got this out . Giving them a 5 because everything i got came up under 50 dollars . Anywhere else for the same level of quantity and quality you'd pay lower 60s with inflation being crazy

Linda G.

Yelp
This used to be a top SL contender when it comes to the food scene. However, that's not the case anymore. The quality of rolls has gone down. Some of the rolls had what seemed to be stale rice. The 49ers roll tasted like old salmon that's been left out. The color was questionable. The service is also on par with the quality of the food...lacking. I would say I visited on an off day but it's been a downward trend through the years after multiple visits.

OaklandSista N.

Yelp
Food was not good I threw a lot of it away. Sushi was sub par. Bento box was the worst one I can remember having.

Sarah V.

Yelp
My friends and I ordered the omg roll, hamachi lover, white tuna garlic, and chirashi for takeout. The omg was hands down our favorite of the rolls. The hamachi lover was good, but the avocado was way too big for the roll and under ripe. The white tuna was good, but the garlic flavor was a little strong for my liking (and I'm a big garlic fan). My friend, however, really liked the intensity of the garlic flavor. The chirashi had fresh salmon and tuna that was super soft. I didn't really like the octopus in it though as it was overly chewy. Overall, it was a decently solid sushi experience for the area

TU B.

Yelp
Has there been a change of ownership because this place has gone down. The quality of the food, portion of the food, and service is not the same Rock&Roll that I knew of. Went for dinner recently and the restaurant was empty, sushi was subpar and service was so so. Def Not coming back.

Bebe J.

Yelp
What happened to this place? It sucks soooo bad now. The service is whacky af. Earth to staff. The restaurant wasn't even busy and the food came out wrong and slow and all over the place. My friend got his udon 20 minutes after mine. Then the server gives him a plastic fork for his piping hot udon. We asked for a regular fork and he grabbed the plastic fork out his hand and put it back with the rest of em. Gross. Throw that shi7 away. The chicken teriyaki is covered in fatty skin the salad is drenched in so much dressing I couldn't eat it. I can keep going but I won't. I'm almost positive this place is under new ownership. It has to be

Kylie C.

Yelp
Fast, quick and friendly service! Plenty of seating in the restaurant, great for small groups. The portions are large and dishes are tasty! Seafood udon: filled with different types of fish and seafood Bento box: large portions and delicious Ramen: soup flavor was great, a lot of meat Crazy Kevin roll: favorite soft shell crab roll Definitely my go-to spot!

Ebony W.

Yelp
10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! The spicy crab California was my favorite. The crunch was to perfection. Sauce was everythingggggg! I ordered online and my food was ready in 20 minutes. Made fresh too. I loved it and I will be back.

Ralph R.

Yelp
We been going to Rock & Roll for a while now. We come here for the Bento Boxes. The quality of food is always consistent and one of the best bang for the dollar especially at lunch. The service always good and the servers are attentive to your needs. Plenty parking outside.

Big Gerry F.

Yelp
First time at rock 'n' roll sushi. The food was excellent and the service was very quick and very surprised even though the lunch crab was fairly busy. They got our order in and served to us within about 10 or 12 minutes. Highly recommended except for it was a little bit loud, but then again, this is rock 'n' roll sushi. They had videos of rock 'n' roll bands, not so loud that you could not carry on a conversation but slightly annoying if you're with a loved one, trying to talk intimately, with all the rock 'n' roll in the background. Again, food is terrific. Highly recommended.

Lisa P.

Yelp
We went there around 3pm and was still able to catch their lunch bento box deal! About $15 for each bento was worth the great amount of food. I had (the first box in the video) agedashi tofu, chicken katsu and their salmon teriyaki. Their chicken katsu was very tender, salmon was cooked to perfection, and tofu was soft and delicious! Serving was so big I had to take half of it home. Waiter was very attentive and helpful. Restaurant was kept well cleaned with menus ready for you at your table upon arrival.

Tuyen V.

Yelp
Food was okay, but the worse customer service I ever had at Japanese Restaurant. I know its owner might not be Japanese, if you opened a Japanese Restaurant then please train your waitress with good manner.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Rock & Roll Sushi is my family's favorite. When we lived in San Leandro, it was our go-to sushi spot. I'm a fan of their bento boxes. Most recently, my family and I ordered for pick up. It was super easy to call ahead and put our order in. We did have to wait a bit when we got there for the order to be ready, but it wasn't a big deal since we did order a lot (3 bento boxes, 3 rolls). After we picked up our meal, they realized that they forgot to give us one of our tempura orders. They called us right away and since we weren't too far, we were able to turn around and pick it up. I got the 2 item bento with chicken teriyaki and tempura ($18). Solid chicken teriyaki with a huge portion size. I had enough to eat it for dinner and lunch the next day. The salad was great too - great balance of dressing (aka, it wasn't drowning in dressing like I've had at other places). I really enjoyed the tempura - for some reason, it's been a real craving of mine lately and this one hit the spot. Huge pieces, perfectly crispy, with a variety of veggies. Good ol' Rock & Roll Sushi. You rock, don't ever change.

Tanisha B.

Yelp
Absolutely Love Rock & Roll Sushi the food is delicious but the staff is absolutely amazing. I have been coming here for a few years now, but today was special. My husband and I were involved in a bad car accident last night and didn't feel up to cooking so we came in for take-out. I asked one of the ladies if they had steamed broccoli. She said no, but when I got home on top of my salad was some steamed broccoli I ordered the entree Chicken Teriyaki and Red Dragon Roll. Thank you guys so much for always going above and beyond for your customers... Tonight was super busy by the way... Great food and Excellent customer service goes a long way with me. I truly appreciated it tonight.

Faustino G.

Yelp
Food was really good big fan of the unagi here and got a sashimi plate "chefs choice" i

Daniela O.

Yelp
This has been our favorite local sushi spot for a while, even during covid we used to order for pick up at all times, and we love-d this place, but unfortunately the last couple of times we have been there they have been a little disappointing, and it breaks my heart because their prices are amazing! And the food used to be good, but we have noticed a downgrade in service, cleanliness and the freshness of the ingredients, and that's why I'm writing this review today. When we stop by it's usually during lunch hours, we were there Saturday around 3 pm, when we sat the table was sticky, even the menu was dirty. And the service wasn't the best either, the server seemed to be distracted and we had to remind him for things constantly, there were 3 tables being served ( it wasn't busy) but he seemed to be somewhere else, we were patient and reminded him things kindly and that wasn't a big deal, ( he wasn't rude or anything just distracted) Then I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it reminded me a lot of Bart's public restrooms, the smell and everything! We pulled through our meal, and it was good in general just wasn't as fresh as it usually is, maybe is the inflation and the high price of things but we can notice a big downfall on the restaurant overall. It breaks saddens me because they can do way better, they were sooo good!!! And I don't know if there has been a change of management/ ownership but this place is not the same as it was. I would love to see improvements and maybe this place needs someone who pays close attention to details. Looking forward to see improvements, I just miss the old rock & Roll prime time.

Raymond Z.

Yelp
Have been to Rock N Roll several times in the past. So it has been a while since we have been back, and it reminded us why we haven't been back again. Overall subpar quality. Rice was dry, sashimi was "stiff," wasabi didn't have kick. Lacking everything you would want in a sushi roll. And the nigiri was just horrible. We didn't even want to finish what's left.

Vivian T.

Yelp
I came here a long time ago with one friend for dinner and it was a pretty good experience. Finally came back here again a while ago and it has definitely changed. It wasn't too busy and not very loud, a couple of families enjoying their dinner. The food was okay this time, not as what it use to be. The tempura wasn't bad. I'd say it was the only thing that I liked when I was there. However, the quality of rolls has changed. I wouldn't recommend the fried rolls as much. Service was pretty good, that's the positive side of it. They were pretty patient with us while debating on what to get on the menu. Maybe I'll give them another chance in the future. Maybe it was a miss for that night.

Alejandra G.

Yelp
I went to buy some sushi, order three rolls, avocado, shrimp tempura and dragon roll, I ordered some chicken on the side. I place my order to go, didn't check my order at the restaurant, when I got home, my shrimp tempura roll was missing, I called but they couldn't understand what I was saying, I went to the store and they told me that both rolls shrimp and dragon were together when they were not, both of them have crab and the shrimp tempura roll doesn't come with crab, I didn't want to argue with them so I just left the store, not coming back.

Lincy H.

Yelp
#ThankYouThursday2021 Rock & Roll Sushi is always on a roll for rocking my world and tastebuds!! The rolls are good but let me tell you... their BENTO BOXES are the star of the show. These are the hugest bento boxes I've ever seen and at such great value too. You can choose either two or three item but I almost always get the three item. Chicken Katsu and chicken teriyaki are a must. The chicken Katsu is crispy on the outside (batter not too heavy) and juicy on the inside. The chicken teriyaki is tender and flavorful. For my third item, I either get the alaska roll or try another item. You can get beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, bbq short ribs, tempura, tonkatsu, gyoza, nigiri, sashimi, etc. It also comes with miso soup, rice, salad, and an eggroll (if you dine in). Their hot tea is also very satisfying on those cold nights. It can get quite busy on weekend evenings, but once you're able to order, the food comes out pretty quickly. My husband and I frequent this place about once every month or so and love introducing our friends to this place too. Thank you Rock & Roll for your amazing humungous bento boxes that keep us fed for days!!

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Crunch California is one of my go to's! Super delicious. They have pretty good sushi here.

Allison H.

Yelp
I came here with my friends for dinner on a weekend. Luckily, we did not have to wait to be seated. Atmosphere: Very welcoming and clean. Service: The staff were friendly and efficient. We received our food within a short amount of time. Food: We ordered 5 rolls to share. We got the 49er, lion king, dragon, ichiban and alameda roll. All of them were fresh and delicious delicious! I highly recommend this sushi restaurant if you are in the area. They have a wide selection of special rolls. They also have bento boxes, plates, chirashi, nigiri, ramen, udon, etc. It's also located inside a plaza where there is a huge parking lot, so there is plenty of parking outside!

Kaelin N.

Yelp
This place used to be sooooo good years ago, with a waitlist and plenty of people waiting outside. I should have known better when I came at 12:30pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was empty. Service was great, serves filled my tea and checked in frequently, but the quality of my food and flavor just wasn't there anymore. I don't see myself coming back unless they switch back to the old management and cooks they had years ago.

Sanaa Y.

Yelp
Very good sushi. Light and fresh. The only thing is that sometimes the nori is kind of chewy.

John Matthew A.

Yelp
I have now been to this restaurant 100 times or more. The food is always pretty darn good, the staff is always quite friendly. The ambiance tonight was a little strange - they were playing "Christmas Songs" in the middle of April. I was kinda put off by the music but other than that everything else was just fine!!

Amber P.

Yelp
The employee brought me a Lion King roll on accident instead of the Tiger Roll that I ordered, went back to the kitchen, added sauce on it, and then came back to me. I wish I was joking. Compare the 2 pictures, this is very dishonest behavior, imagine what they're doing behind the counter!

Michael R.

Yelp
Well it's great now. This place got a few bad reviews claiming new management had lowered quality. I was reluctant to try but my wife insisted. It was GREAT. Nice funky hole in the wall, nondescript, with extremely gracious staff. Very welcoming and relaxed ambience. Other tables clearly happy to be there. The rapid service was close to dim sum speed. They were busy but no delays. The food was just about perfect. Toasted rice green tea was flavorful and they refilled at least 3 times! Miso soup and edamame were fine. Tempura seemed more cooked than usual, which gave it a beautiful golden color and toasty flavor. Ordered monkey roll special and rock and roll roll. Both well presented and tasty. I prefer the boring rolls and sashimi, but this was wife's treat. This meal was FUN. And I was shocked by the price. I was sure they left something off the tab! I was STUFFED. I had to take LEFTOVERS. I never do that w sushi! I've had fancier, more elegant sushi , in more formal settings, and I will have that again, but this place made me HAPPY. So try it , or try it again. See you there!

Jasmine S.

Yelp
Hair in my food........ I've been before with coworkers and they food is consistent. BUT on today I found a strand of hair on my 3rd to last piece and was pissed that I had to throw it out.

Nita B.

Yelp
I ordered an Asahi beer that was really refreshing,. I ordered the yuban roll which is deep fried salmon, cream cheese, and avocado with the unagi sauce and the Crab carnival roll, which is shrimp and avo w crab on top n unagi sauce. The crab carnival roll came out fast. I liked it better than the Yuban roll, although the sushi paper & shrimp were a bit chewy and I would have added more sauce. The yuban roll was good idea but idk why jt was not crispy.... Something was off about it. Now Im wondering if thats what the lady next to me quietly complained about... they brought her out a brand new roll after she ate half of. Good customer service resolution. Service was fast and friendly. Self seating. Semi popular place. Seems like folks like the chicken karage.

Kelly D.

Yelp
Nothing impressive. Underwhelmed by the staff. Came in with my daughter for lunch, it's been some time since I've been out for sushi.... menu was huge! I asked for a recommendation on the menu the young lady was not enthusiastic or helpful. My daughter already had a selection as I stumbled through my selection, I felt if I was taking up too much time . There were only four other tables being served at this time... but okay. When I asked for a substitution it was blatantly refused. With that said I understood after the fact as I had totally ordered the wrong type of roll. I just don't understand why a sever/hostess wouldn't make a recommendation or try to work with me on what I thought was available, as opposed to respond with a condescending attitude... The food: Assorted tempura was OK fresh and hot. The batter very heavy and greasy. Sushi rolls... average taste but tempura shrimp inside served very cold. No beverages. Just ice water.

Maria R.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Came in closer to closing but staff still took great care of us. 10/10!

Rafael F.

Yelp
This place used to be one of our family's favorite for sushi for years before ownership changed. It used to always have a waiting list to get a table but not anymore and I can see why. Quality of food has gone down hill greatly, smelly fish, old rice, watery salad. Have ordered to go a few times and that place is dirty! I was standing next to the counter top to pay for my order and felt something sticky on my shoe, looked down and there was a thick film of dirt and grease on the floor. If they don't care to clean what a customer can see I imagine what the food preparation area looks like. Definitely will not be going back.
