Rock & Rose - Review - London - The Infatuation

"If you’re looking for the opposite of small and intimate, Rock & Rose will fit the bill. It’s a glitzy restaurant and bar, designed from top to bottom to dole out a very specific, laugh-till-you-snort kind of fun. My go-to here is the lamb shank massaman with a side of ‘I’ll have what they’re having’, but with its eclectic menu and flamboyant decor, everything about this spot, from the foliage to the art to the candelabras, is so gloriously OTT that it’s kind of seductive. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Came here for Sunday lunch after a stroll in Kew on a beautiful Sunny afternoon. Great vibe and food was good (Bang Bang Chicken Salad, Truffle and Parmesan Fries and House Salad) but stand out for me were the beautifully presented cocktails.

Google
Well what can I say about Rock & Rose. An excellent find. The parking is potentially a problem. I went today, a Sunday, so I used the road to the left of the restaurant. The parking is permit holders only Mon-Sat. Back the restaurant itself. Very attractive from outside, with tables under cover, if you can brave the elements! Inside is incredibly quirky. Lots of interesting things to see and find. The menu isn't too overwhelming, but plenty of yummy choices to be had. Good portion sizes and similar to home cooking. We only had mains and mostly chose from the Sunday roast selection. All very tasty and very filling. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant. I can't speak highly enough of Rock & Rose and thoroughly recommend you visit asap. I've also included the Christmas Menu for anyone who is interested. Rock & Rose, thank you for the fantastic food and for being wonderful hosts. We hope to see you again soon!

Rock and Rose in Richmond is absolutely amazing! From start to finish, our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. The food was divine—each dish crafted with care and bursting with flavour. We indulged in the BBQ ribs, Lobster and Shrimp Risotto, Shepherd's Pie, and the Seabass. Every bite was a testament to the chef’s skill, with beautifully cooked, mouthwatering mains that left us wanting more. For dessert, we shared the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Apple & Plum Crumble, though we regretted not ordering one of each! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was heavenly—soft, moist, and pure perfection. The crumble was delightfully tart and delicious, though a touch more custard would have made it even better. The drinks were equally impressive, crafted to perfection, and presented with elegance. The attention to detail here truly elevates the overall dining experience. Whether you’re looking for a special night out or just a meal to remember, Rock and Rose delivers on all fronts. Highly recommended!

Amazing time with lovely food and unique cocktails served with flair made our night more special. The customer service is beyond excellent and very personal which topped off our visit. I highly recommend Rock and Rose even if it’s just to have drinks at the bar which were highly entertaining.

Had a lovely evening with friends. Short walk from the Richmond Railway station. Has outside seating as well. Food was fresh and tasted very good with good presentation. Cocktails and wine were good as well as the desserts. Would have liked to see a gluten free dessert but at least there was a vegan one. Host was very warm and welcoming and graciously let us stay a little past the 2 hour mark after our server made it a point to remind us…our server seemed to be a little less than polite at times even though we were very polite and friendly with him. Overall good experience and service from the other staff was very good. Will be back.

Google
I had the most amazing experience at Rock and Rose in Richmond. The food was great - my friend and I ordered the crispy tempura shrimp, the chicken milanese, the lamb leg steak and sticky toffee pudding for dessert - can't fault anything, tasted amazing! The drinks were delicious too, the bartenders put on a whole show for us and it added to the experience. The staff were all so lovely and hospitable, I loved the decor and ambience inside and it was super packed which goes to show how popular it is. Thank you so much for having us, this place is a hidden gem for sure! Can't wait to return ✨️

We love going to the Rock and Rose in Richmond and are regulars there when we are in town! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the decor cool, quirky but trendily bohemian. But the best part of it is the cocktail bar! Adam is a maestro and his cocktails are delicious and beautiful, a harmonious marriage of science and art. The best cocktails I have ever had anywhere in the world and one of the few places on earth to make a proper cosmopolitan. I would highly recommend popping in for a few cocktails (impossible to have only 1) and then perhaps stay for a bite. 🍸🇬🇧💕

Google
My first time here and I love it. The atmosphere is warm, lovely and modern. The service friendly and welcoming and the my Sunday roast was both generous and delicious. Sticky Toffee Pudding is to die for, definitely worth the calories. I will be back!

Yelp
Came here for lunch, had a nice salad. It is an interesting menu with various choices. I was with a big group and they sat us in a more private area. Knocking a star off, as I had a dirty water glass.

Yelp
I like the decor, it is a little kitschy and eclectic. Started with the rock salted caramel martini which was good. The goat cheese salad and chicken was very good. It was interesting to note that all the Americans including me ordered the toffee pudding (excellent) while the Brits ordered something else. Service was spotty, they kept disappearing on us for long periods of time, the check especially took forever. Food and ambiance gets a 4 and the service gets a 2 rounding off to 3.

Yelp
Beautiful quirky friendly place with some great cocktails! Loved the decor and ambience of the whole place. Went on a Saturday evening for a meal food was ok cocktails were on point and our waiter was lovely. Our first time here and will surely return for another evening.

Yelp
Took my mum to Rock and Rose on saturday for her birthday lunch and absolutely loved it! I let them know before hand that we were coming for a special occasion and they brought over a little shot of prosecco with a sparkler which was a lovely touch! The place itself is gorgous! The interior has a real kitsch feel, loads of little shabby chic touches around the restaurant itself. We shared three starters and a main course between us - all the dishes were excellent, particularly the crispy pork belly bites. The cocktails were also excellent - we went for the Rock and Rose Martini which was effectively a Pornstar Martini, one of best i've had. Will def be returning!

Yelp
This place is undeniably busy on a quiet stretch of restaurants. Girly decor and theme include flowery wall paper, decorative lamps and fixtures, place loud music. The menu is alittle confused, Asian influences mixed with some classics, no particular nod to seasonal produce and laid out in no order that makes sense. I went for chilli squid for my starter which was bland, not crispy and dull, the chilli dipping sauce seemed home-made though and the portion size was decent. I had read their steaks are amazing so I went with it, despite my better judgement. Silly mistake, should stick to my own devices. The steak was of poor quality and over-cooked at that. Very disappointing. The fries were uncrispy wedges of potato. The mushroom, tomato and onion ring garnish were well-cooked and welcomed. The blue cheese sauce was fine. The desserts were mixed, crème brulee was passable and the lemon posset yummy but with 4 garnishes??? Cocktails were interesting and tasted well considered, they were all decorated quite nicely. Service was good and the bill came to £175 including service for 3. Couldn't recommend this place though I'm afraid.

Yelp
I live down the road from this place. Good food, but EXTORTIONATE. To be expected in the area, but there is expensive and then there's taking the piss!

Yelp
I must admit we have never eaten here. The decor is a massive turn off and depite the potential for hilarious people watching, I just can't get over the feeling of desperation this place gives off. The three stars for three reasons: Espresso Martinis, Passion Fruit Daiquiris and prompt bar service. Honestly, we won't ever dine here, but it's a good last cocktail stop.

Yelp
I'm giving this place 4, but perhaps it should be 3, as the service wasn't brilliant that day. We went in because it seemed the busiest place around and The Prixe Fixe lunch.. £13.50 for 2 courses looked interesting Well it was rather slow, we were sat outside on the deck, and it did seem as if a lot of people had arrived at the same timeI'm going to give them the benefit. Pleasant service, and when the food came it was really good, my warm goats cheese starter was good, and the Tuna Stirfry with coconut was very generous and extremely tasty. It was only when I went inside to check the facilities that I saw the decor, well it's somewhere past OTT, possibly near French boudoir worth seeing.

Yelp
Went to Rock & Rose on the Kew Road for the first time last Friday to sample their amazing cocktails, which I'd been hearing about forever from a friend who lives in the area. The place was packed with well-to-do residents of the area giving it a great buzz and adding to the quirky and vibrant decor. After a few excellent Rock & Rose Martinis, we were starving and, despite the restaurant being packed, the lovely manager informed us they could fit us in due to a cancellation. The ribs were to die for, slow cooked into sticky, silky perfection, followed by a moist fillet of miso cod which I could have kept eating forever. We shared a pavlova with mixed summer berries which tasted even better than it looked. A wonderful evening and a restaurant I couldn't recommend more.

Yelp
Undisputed that the atmosphere is awesome at Rock and Rose. They obviously were going for something, and got it! I always wanted to try duck and watermelon - which they had as a starter and it was great. I wish the duck was a little more crispy for a texture difference (but that is being slightly picky). My friend ordered the squid which left much to be desired, it was good I just didn't see the value for money on the plate - we should have had twice the amount. I ordered the 'seared tuna' for my main and was disappointed. It definitely wasn't seared -looked more boiled? and the tuna was medium well. Granted, I didn't tell them a temp but I assumed in a place that served so much fish they would cook the tuna correctly (rare to medium rare). I gave the feedback to the waitress and she apologized that "I'm so sorry, sometime's it depends on the chef".... which makes me cringe a bit. I know the hardest thing to accomplish is consistency, but if I had ordered that same dish, say tomorrow evening, would it be the same or different? That's the hardest thing about having good food is to make it consistent not based on which chef is in the kitchen. It's not enough to give it a bad review, everything else was stellar and even with my tuna cooked not to my taste it was still HUGE and really full of flavour. My friend had the green curry which was really tasty. I just wish they would serve it in a beautiful but more eater-friendly way... like on a plate. Would I go back again? Maybe for their tasting menu or cocktails. But for those of you who like their fish a certain way, be sure to indicate a temperature when you order.

Yelp
Quite interesting decor, fancy yet eclectic. Service was on spot and the atmosphere very relaxing. There is a wide variety of dishes that would please pretty much any palate. The onion soup is probably the best that I've had in ages, the consistency is thick with delicious croutons. The dish to order is the rack of ribs, pure heaven. Unique presentation on a wooden plank adds to the experience. The pork belly is quite tasty as well. Definitely will becoming back again!

Yelp
Avoid - the place is on a slide I have been visiting this restaurant on a fairly frequent basis (every couple of months) as I live just a corner away from the restaurant. (normally the booking was under my partner's name not under mine therefore I might have "appeared" on the booking system as a new customer). I have booked a table for 3 over the phone, for Sat night (18:30). When we got there it turned out that the booking was made for 8 person. Obviously I have NOT booked a table for 8 but for 3, and it's quite hard to believe that "three" can be misheard as "eight". The staff had maintained their claim that I have made the booking for the wrong number, and continued pulling faces. (Customer is always right isn't?) Eventually we got seated, and were asked to leave the table by 20:30. We have agreed to this and took the table. Around 19:50 we were just browsing through the dessert menu when we were approached by the waitress and asked to leave the table at 20:00. We refused, as the other waitress who seated us clearly said 20:30. The manager then approached us with the same request, strongly (and without any apology) demanded us to leave by 20:00 - probably at this point I should have offered to leave without paying, and avoid further embarrassment in front of my guests as the dinner started to turn into a rather bitter experience. We refused again to leave, and stayed until 20:30 - hence "allowed" to finish our meals. Needless to say I have plenty of other restaurant options in the Kew/Richmond neighbourhood to spend my hard earned cash, and will not be frequenting this place in the future.

Yelp
I went back again a couple of months ago. (Glutton for punishment.) In fact, I was lucky, I ordered the rack of ribs which was really good. (Glutton for spare ribs, too.) My fellow diners were less lucky. They'd ordered a 'low fat' Chicken caesar salad. Appparently the caesar bit, the dressing, seemed to be a mix of flour and water - (fundamantal ingredients of DIY wallpaper paste) which was thick and served in a small pot, with no flavour whatsoever. They complained and were told sorry the 'main' chef is off sick. Free coffees offered to make up for it. Coffees arrived lukewarm. My other friend ordered a dish that she was attracted too because of the red peppers. Sadly they were out of red peppers, so it arrived without. Oh dear.

Yelp
Mixed feelings- certainly a good restaurant if youre looking for something a little different. The extremely loud and funky interior do make dining here an experience in itself. The sunday luch here- which ive had twice is fab- great slabs of meat and delicious veg. Ive also had the beef and mango sald- equally yummy and the tuna staek in coconut broth- a real treat. Servive however was a little less impressive- perhaps the young guy who served us was new but he didnt seem to know what he was doing. And we waited a long time for food- to say that the restaurant was not that busy. But- overall- enjoyable. A little pricey but good, original food and definatley not dull, drab or dreary.

Yelp
Really good funkly, Baroque style restaurant. Very cool crowd with a good mixture. Good drinks menu and the food was very good. Menu had something for everyone. The Salt and Chilli Calamari was outstanding! Everyone I was with loved this place and raved about the food. Service was excellent. Would highly recommend this place for a good buzzy friends night out for a meal. 5 minute walk from Richmond Rail station. For a good few drinks, 3 course meal for 2 and liqueur coffee's price came to £130 with tip. Not bad, but not good. If it was slightly cheaper, it would have got the 5 stars.

Qype User (Clouse…)

Yelp
Totally mixed feelings on this place, first visit was great, couldn't fault it, food was excellent and service was brilliant. Second visit, food was OK, service was pretty awful.so would I go again, probably only if it was someone else's choice. Decor is brilliant, totally over the top!!

Yelp
Some gal pals and I have been meaning to try out the Rock and Rose for ages and recently got our chance. The funky boudoir-esque furnishings made it ideal for a girlie get-together and we could have spent the whole evening sipping our cocktails in the comfortable, swirly armchairs in the bar area with the buzz of the restaurant all around us. FYI, if you want something unique, just tell the bartender the cocktail elements that float your boat and he'll whip one up especially for you! My guidelines of a long refreshing drink including gin was met with a delicious mix of my chosen tipple with muddled fresh blackberries, pomegranate juice and a squeeze of lemon - delish! What's more, we went during cocktail hour (5.30pm-7pm weekdays) so our drinks were a bargain price of £5.50. Feeling withdrawals from a recent holiday to Thailand that already feels like a lifetime ago, I opted for the Lamb Shank Massaman. The meat was so tender it just fell off the bone and the subtle Thai spices really did seem to seep from deep within the dish. The sauce was creamy and nicely nutty and the whole dish was really well seasoned and put me back in Thailand at least in spirit if not in body. The girls had a Rock Cheeseburger and Wild Mushroom and Roasted Butternut Squash Risotto respectively and both were more than happy with the result. I tried a spoonful of the risotto as it's always a tricky one for restaurants to get right and it was nice and creamy with a lovely bit of bite and texture from the toasted pumpkin seeds - just how I like it. Stuffed to the gills, we opted to split a dessert between the three of us - women eh?! - and went for the sinful sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which quickly had us all wishing we'd ordered individual portions to stop the squabbles over who was hogging the dish. The meal with a bottle of wine and the cocktails beforehand came to just over £30 each (including service) which isn't a bad evening out when you've been sat in such unique surroundings, with a buzzy atmosphere and plenty of gossip-swapping. We will be back again - and definitely won't be scrimping on the desserts next time!

Yelp
Four of us were seated at this opulent quirky establishment last night for a birthday dinner and we were in for quite the treat! The service was simply great. Amy was personable, and funny yet knowledgeable and attentive...Hard to find in London! While the wines weren't cheap, they were moderately priced but very good and went down well! We are the kind of people that have to try everyone else's food so I got a chance to try a lot! The sample menu on the site showed lobster bisque and when it wasn't on the actual menu, I was disappointed. So, I went for the onion soup and was most impressed. A perfect blend of spices and the cheesy goodness of the crouton was the perfect balance! I sampled my friends calamari and the crispy seasoned little morsels did not let down either! I had the lobster linguine for the main and this was the best lobster I have had in London! The lobster comes in the half shell and you can enjoy it on its own or shred the succulence onto the linguine...I did a little of both! The miso cod is one not to miss and comes with coriander rice which was a perfect match! We indulged on the hot brownie and ice cream and finished it all with an espresso martini that came with a sparkler and Amy singing me happy birthday!! A brilliant experience and will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Understaffed so service left alot to be desired. Temperature very cold inside. They seem to be cutting costs in other ways too e.g. no bread basket, no butter, no condiments, tiny portions, ridiculous prices. A disaster. Never again.
