Yelp
I first have to say that I could drink the BBQ sauce! They have an amazing BBQ sauce and it's one of the best that I have ever had. This place has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I saw that people like the burgers here but I decided to ask about the Pulled Pork Sandwich. The server told me that it was a great item and that it came with fries. That's when they told me about the BBQ sauce. I also asked if the sandwich had coleslaw and the server asked me if I wanted it on the side, I said no and that I like it on the sandwich. After that I asked for an Arnold Palmer to drink. When I got the drink it tasted like flavored water. I was very disappointed that she didn't inform me that they didn't have sweet tea so I had the server take it back. It was a shame because the lemonade tasted fresh but there was no sweetness to the drink.
The pulled pork made it to my table pretty fast for lunch time. It looked amazing. But then when I opened the bun to see where the coleslaw was, it looked like they were holding back on the coleslaw. I only saw like 3 pieces of slaw in the sandwich so I asked her to bring more in a side bowl. For $18 you better give me enough coleslaw to taste it in my sandwich. The server informed me that some people don't like the coleslaw Coleslaw Conundrum: The coleslaw, served in a modest portion, left much to be desired. Its lackluster flavor and sole reliance on red cabbage resulted in a dish that was both bland and uninspired. For BBQ aficionados, coleslaw can be a pivotal side dish, and unfortunately, this version didn't rise to the occasion. A suggestion to the chef: consider revamping the recipe or perhaps removing it from the menu in favor of something more exciting.
Pulled Pork Perfection: On a brighter note, the pulled pork sandwich was a culinary triumph! The pork was tender, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by a soft, fresh bun. It's a dish that truly showcases the restaurant's BBQ prowess.
Fries to Die For: The fries were another highlight - crispy, hot, and perfectly seasoned. They're the ideal sidekick to any BBQ main course.
Beverage Blip: The Arnold Palmer drink could use some tweaking. It's a classic that, when done right, can elevate the entire meal.
Final Thoughts:
Rock Bottom delivers a solid BBQ experience, particularly with their standout pulled pork and fries. While there are areas for improvement, particularly the coleslaw and beverage selection, the overall experience is satisfying. I'd definitely come back, especially if they take my tips on the coleslaw and Arnold Palmer to heart. Here's to good BBQ and better sides!
Would I Return? Yes, for the BBQ, and in anticipation of an improved coleslaw and drink menu!
