11 Premier Places for Pie in Detroit

"Long before it moved into Midtown, Rock City Eatery began as a cottage industry pie operation. Today, chef Nikita Sanches is staying true to its roots by keeping pies on the dessert menu. Edgy, seasonal combinations like peanut butter berry and Oreo cookies and cream keep regulars coming back." - Eater Staff

Detroit’s Best Restaurant and Bar Bathrooms - Eater Detroit

"Rock City Eatery’s restrooms got some extra attention during its relocation to Midtown in 2016. Co-owner Jessica Sanches plastered the space with old school black and white concert posters and it quickly became a popular spot for a selfie. Just remember not to flush your hopes and dreams down the toilet." - Brenna Houck

It was our first night out with friends of ours since February and Rock City Eatery gave us a great experience. Their take on poutine with the duck fat fries was delicious and definitely unique. We all got the mac and cheese each with different toppings but I got the carmelized onions and the shredded brisket. The giant shells and the rich cheddar cheese made for one of the best mac and cheeses that I've ever had. The bowl was even made of baked parmesan cheese and it was delicious. Will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Went on a Sunday around one o'clock. There were only 2 other tables besides ours when we got there but started to pick up astound 2 as we were leaving. Ordered the chicken biscuit minus bacon. It was pretty good but not sure if I cared for the pickled watermelon.🤔 Service was friendly & fast. I would go there again to try other items on the menu.

Very cozy 'new American' food place. Sort of rock and roll themed, they almost always have a good playlist rolling. Variety of food, some of with changes every quarter. I consider their mac and cheese to be their signature dish - you can add a large variety of toppings to it, and what makes it most unique is that it comes in an edible Parmesan cheese bowl. Highly recommend taking a stop here with 2-3 friends, or for a date.

I’ve been to rock city eatery a few times and have enjoyed every meal I’ve had. On my most recent visit I had the mac and cheese in a cheese bowl 😱😩 I’d never had anything like it and it was absolutely delicious! The bread pudding was also amazing! Every time I’ve been I was quickly seated. I’m not sure why more people weren’t in the restaurant because this place is really a gem for delicious comfort food.

Great Spot for a date! Delicious drinks, fantastic menu, staff friendly. Clean and cozy restaurant and bar. Cute souvenir t-shirts & mugs too. Will definitely come back again.

I love this place. The atmosphere is great; good for a date, friends, or even a bigger group (I’ve come with family)! You absolutely cannot pass up the Mac and cheese. In its own Parmesan edible bowl...you will never want Mac and cheese in a different way again. The burger and fries are awesome too. Try anything on the menu!

The vibe is really cool, the staff is very personable, and the food is.. almost there. My party ordered some of the asian dishes felt it was a bit over-spiced (not hot, just too many spices) and there wasn't as much variety between the dishes as we expected. We tried the steamed buns - and while the filling was good, the buns should have been warmed up more. The mac and cheese is very decadent. Loved the vibe and staff, not as in love with the food.

Food was diverse, service was friendly and efficient. Many options to tweak meals with proteins, or turn it vegan. Relaxed atmosphere, good music. Didn't take themselves too seriously. Reasonable portions and not spendy.
