I have played here a million times and I have very good memories in this place. It is immersed in nature and the drive there from the city is always gorgeous. The courts are in good conditions and the bubble works 6 months per year. You will have to reserve in advance in order to find a spot, especially in the summer. Do it on their website because they never answer the phone!

Google
We were able to reserve the center stadium and felt like pros hitting around. Reservations were simple to make and while not inexpensive it felt like a good value for the amount of fun we did have ($50 for 1 hour).

Went during the first Saturday of Citi Open. My first time at the venue and the event. Didn't know what to expect. I should have read the website regarding parking before driving there. That's my biggest piece of advice is to figure out transportation in advance. Lots of people. Lots of food options. I was glad to see Taco Bamba there. Wish I knew I could bring my cold water bottle, but maybe if I read the website I would have known. The venue is very old and it shows. Can someone get a fundraiser for improvements? There was rust abound. Overall it was a nice event to go to and watch profressional tennis in-person. Since it's a Olympic year a lot of the big names weren't there. Tickets weren't too pricey depending on your seat location and earlier in the tournament. I'd go back next year better prepared.

The Mrs and I 1st tennis event wow what a awesome 1st time we had it was better than a football and basketball game reason being we're all involved you just don't go to sit and watch it was tons of stuff to do & all the wonderful prizes..

Google
The court is definitely awesome and hosts many popular events such as Citi Open. The problem is with their high ticket prices and baggage policy which they post in fine prints. Even for small sized bags, they force people to use lockers which are pricey costing an additional anywhere between $13 - $18. Apart from that, any food or drinks is highly overpriced. Aisle seats costs more than $150 even for mediocre matches. A small bottle of water costs $6. A small ice cream scoop is $8. A small cup cake is $9. Please be considerate to your customers.

Google
We're so lucky to have a 500 series tournament in DC! The grounds are in great condition and perfect for hosting a tournament of this size. The only complaint is the crowd flow for food, but that's not on Rock Creek Park.

Sridevi B

Google
Ground are nice. The play ground itself is pretty small. But no matter the seat you are in, you get a good view. Which is usually not possible in bigger stadiums. However, the prices are exorbitant, one drink is 18+ and the size is kiddie cup (smaller plastic cup). Everything is priced to rip off. Bring your own food if you have kids.

Google
The park is nice, and it's great to have a tennis center of this size with both hard courts and HarTru courts, instructional programs, league play, tournaments, and more. However, using the Tennis Center as a venue for a world-class ATP and WTA event just doesn't work. The site is claustrophobic, and attending is a logistical nightmare. Maybe it's a best effort, but compared to other 250 to 1000 tour events, it reflects a poor relationship with National Park Services and cries for more.

Yelp
Had a great time in the Citi Open. Food was decent, had a nice lobster roll for $22. There were a lot of options surprisingly! It was majority a grass field with some sidewalk areas. The courts were large and everything was well managed. Note I only showed up for the afternoon when ticket prices dropped and it was worth attending, Only complaint would be parking is a bit of a struggle.

Yelp
The stadium is very old and want to forewarn anyone going that will be sitting in the bleacher seats - TAKE A SEAT CUSHION!!. The bottom half of the stadium seats are chairs but the top half are bleachers. The bleachers are made of aluminum and have ridges in them which is I guess to prevent people from slipping on them when walking but they make it almost unbearable to sit on. The stadium is relatively small so even if you are sitting at the very top of the upper deck, you still are close to the court and can plainly see the players. I took my binoculars but never used them. Advice to the tennis center....replace the bleacher seats with chair seating.

Yelp
These are excellent courts. There are 8 clay and 15 hard top courts. Cost is around $12 per hour or $18 with lights (or for clay). This is home to the Citi Open. It the reviews here of citi open are misplaced since they are two different things. I Play a lot of tennis in DC and these are my go to courts when I want to be sure to get a good quality Court without having to wait. In wintertime, they have a bubble but you have to book space as well in advance or have a permanent slot.

Yelp
Broke my finger and couldn't hold a tennis racket, so I tried to call and get a refund for my class. But nobody would return my calls or reply to my emails. When I finally got someone on the phone, they provided terrible customer service and hung up on me. Apparently this place is unreasonable and expects you to call right away when you get injured or have an emergency to cancel the class in order to get a full refund. If you don't call to cancel right away, they have no sympathy for you and will take your money. I hate this place and wish it was run by a public agency instead so that they wouldn't be allowed to do this to people.

Yelp
First time at this venue, and it has been a pleasure to see Nadal! Overall it seems to be a decent facility but the seating in the pavilion is very tight. The event we attended was sold out, and apparently oversold, as people were stuck sitting on the stairs that had purchased seats. Everyone was extremely cramped, and many were complaining about how tight it was to the staff. I'd recommend visiting the venue, but do not choose pavilion seating if the event is near capacity.

Yelp
The review is for the Citi Open tennis tournament. Ticket prices are pretty reasonable by most sports standards for a single session. And you get too see several matches both men and women. Sadly however, the Citi Open isn't the draw the old Legg Mason was back in the day with Agassi and Roddick. Concession stands are meh. With high prices. $5 for a bottled water and $10 for beer. The food options were weak, but we ate in advance and just skipped them. Parking is limited, but they set up a system of buses to parking garages away from the event.

Brian K.

Yelp
Will never return again. This place is an absolute dump. They make you park 4 miles away at a closed down department store and shuttle you in. Once you get there it is HUGE lines for bathrooms, food, bars and everything. A nightmare. The tennis match was great but after we had to wait 90 min in a line of 2000 people to get a shuttle back. A miserable experience other than the actual match.

Michael B.

Yelp
Very poor front desk management. I tried several times to call the front desk to cancel a lesson well in advance because I knew you had to cancel at least 24 hours in advance in order to get a credit for a makeup lesson. Sadly, I couldn't reach anyone until the day of the lesson because no one ever answered the phone in the days prior. When I finally reached someone I was denied a credit because I canceled on the day of the lesson even after I explained I had no luck reaching anyone before the 24-hour cutoff after making several attempts. If you're gonna have a front desk, be there. If you're gonna have a phone, answer it.

Yelp
Yelp reviews here are a little confusing because some people are reviewing the CitiOpen tournament while others discuss what it is like to actually play tennis here. I'll try to cover both. Rock Creek Tennis Center *Minimum price to play tennis is $12/hour. This is crazy to me - these are ostensibly public courts! Why such a high price? I played here recently and nearly all the courts were empty. They should calibrate the prices to maximize the use of the courts. Charge high prices for indoor courts in the winter, but charge very small amounts or nothing when the courts aren't in high demand. *Staff not all that responsive, and the website doesn't work very well and is outdated. CitiOpen Tournament *It's great to be able to watch elite tennis players up close. I recommend getting seats in the shade if it's hot out, as it usually is during the summer. *Parking - the affluent residents near the venue have their public and mostly unused street spaces cordoned off during the tournament. If you don't mind walking many blocks, you can still find free street parking farther out, but give yourself plenty of time. Or use their shuttle. *Food options aren't great - long lines and high prices.

Yelp
After moving to Bethesda a few months ago, I've been having trouble finding clinics in the area for good players (4.0+), and especially ones that wouldn't break the bank. I eventually found the clinics at Rock Creek Park! The clinics are arranged by level, which is really convenient, and they have clinics for all levels, from beginners to advanced. The cost was $200 for 5 sessions, each of which is 90 minutes long. While still objectively expensive, it's not as expensive as the other choices in the area. You can also register online for sessions, which is really convenient; however, I wanted to drop in on a clinic or two before this session started, and I had some difficulty. The schedule online was incorrect (they said they're "working on changing it") and every time I called, I got a slightly different answer about what time and when clinics were for the level I wanted. However, this time around, I registered online for the session instead of calling, and had absolutely no problem. So just be warned! The facility is easy to get to, and I haven't had any trouble parking (although my clinic is at 8am on the weekend- ouch!). They have 5 or 6 courts in their indoor bubble, and they keep the heat up high, so it's nice and warm. The guys in my group are friendly, and the coaches have been really great so far. I definitely leave feeling like I got a lot of good hitting in, as well as a workout. No complaints on their courts, balls, bathrooms, anything like that. Overall, a great place to hit! Minus one star because the clinics are still slightly too expensive (not sure if I can continue it on my grad student income!) and because the people who answer the phones don't seem to always have their act together. Other than that, great facility! I'd strongly recommend.

Yelp
Went to the city open tennis tournament last night fantastic venue. you get to see some of the best players in the world close up. if you get the grounds pass ticket you can walk around and see multiple matches for qualifiers. Youc get so close to players you can always reach out touch I would certainly recommend this tournament we go every year sometimes we stay till 1 o'clock at night

Yelp
Excellent tennis facility, whether during the annual Citi Open tournament, or for enjoying any of the center's 25 year-round courts. There's always players out on the courts too - they even have indoor courts during colder months as well, and the folks at WTEF do an outstanding job of providing tennis lessons to DC's youth.

Valeria R.

Yelp
Went to see tennis usually the tickets are 25 a piece . However once they sell those the price goes up to 55 . And if they sell out it doubles again . So if you want to see the tennis at the city open , get your tickets ahead of time. The parking is $20 dollars . Get there early as they run out of parking .

Yelp
As a venue for the Legg Mason (now Citi Open), this is an excellent facility. it's not the easiest place to get to, but they run shuttles from the Metro and from various free parking areas in the park. The stadium is quite substantial given that DC is a third-tier professional tennis event at best, but I don't know that there's a bad seat in the house. The place is generally quite clean and well-maintained. The side courts offer a nice intimate atmosphere with players occasionally losing a ball into the neighboring woods. Concessions here aren't bad as concessions go; overpriced, of course, but usually a decent number of choices. The tournament has become less worthwhile in recent years simply because the quality of tennis players has dropped. It used to be Andre Agassi, then Andy Roddick. Now we're lucky to get a John Isner sighting. However, this is more reflective of the moribund state of the sport in America and around the world and is not this tournament's fault. They've only just started to do a serious women's tournament. I've only ever been here for the tournament; can't speak much to the other fifty-one weeks of the year, though the attached courts do look nice.

Yelp
Great facilities to host the Citi Open. It was a lot of fun this year, including getting a chance to see some of the starts of tennis! We're very fortunate in Washington DC to have these amazing facilities, and to be able to host this event.

Yelp
2018 Citi Open Tennis Tournament I attended the tournament on Saturday, 7/28/2018, a beautiful, sunny day in the DC area. Tickets state that gates open at 9:00 and the event begins at 10:00. We got there right at 10:00 and were greeted by a line of cars at the North entrance. An attendant talked to each driver, and everyone had to turn around and exit the stadium area. When it was my turn, the attendant said we should try to find parking along the surrounding streets. As we drove around, we discovered that every single street in the area had signs posted stating, No Parking for the event, and we counted 5 tow trucks ready to tow anyone who dared to park on any of the streets. We went back to the stadium area and asked a different attendant where to park, and he said a parking lot about 6 miles away, where they were shuttling people to and from the event. It was about a 20 minute drive to get to the satellite parking area. When we got there, we saw a huge line of people waiting to board a single shuttle. We decided to park and call an Uber to try and save some time. After another 20 minutes back to the Tennis Center, we saw a line of cars all being directed to park in a large field right next to the stadium. Why weren't we allowed to park there when we were there so much earlier??? Next, we were greeted by a huge line of people waiting to buy tickets or get to a will call window. We had to wait another 30 minutes in that line to get our tickets. Very frustrating that for such a widely attended event, and such a long line of people waiting to get tickets, they only had 3 windows open for ticket sales/will call, out of 8 available windows. We finally got to our seats around 11:15. This organization really needs to get their act together for at least the parking and the ticket sales windows - obviously very poorly managed. We only had a couple of hours to spare for the tournament, so who knows what else people had to endure from the poor management. When we left, the line was even longer for people trying to get to the ticket windows.

Yelp
My coach at the tennis center is super great. (Too bad he doesn't have a Yelp account because he gets 10 stars!) The center is clean and well run and once the Citi Open dumps it's money in, the court surfaces get a facelift. In the winter, the big "bubble" goes on the back courts for all year fun. And best of all...they have 6 clay courts for the Nadal-wannabes in us all. Like me!!

Pegah Y.

Yelp
I visited the Rock Creek Tennis Center with my husband and a group of friends last July to watch the Citi Open tennis tournament. The tennis center has a few different courts and we sat in the bleachers for one of the main matches at one of the larger courts. There were vendors right outside the stadium - there were typical options like chicken tenders and French fries, but they also had a Thai place catering. The tennis center is fairly large. I am not sure what the parking situation is like, as we took a cab there, but it's not super accessible by public transportation (it is certainly nowhere near a metro station, as it is situated in Rock Creek Park). After the match, we ended up taking a shuttle bus back to the nearest metro station, the Cleveland Park metro station. Overall, the tennis center is clean and well-organized. My only big complaint is that we had to stand in a really long line in order to enter. It took a lot longer than expected.

Sina E.

Yelp
Rock Creek Park Tennis Center is actually the same location as where they play Legg Mason Tennis Classic. Facility is pretty nice here. I play in a league in a WTT rec league, and the winter season is played here. The 'bubble' indoor courts are in good shape with dividers in between each court. You can reserve the courts, and rent balls/machine if you want. The rates should be on the website. My only gripe is that the path to the parking in the back is pitch black (use high beams once you find the path). If someone is going there for the first time (especially night time) might just miss it. Other than that, great facility.

Yelp
Whoever wants to string their racquets here. DON'T DO IT here.... I got both racquets restrung, the guy was pretty pretty unprofessional. I got my racquets back with pretty messy strings. Not a straight line , all strings are cureved line..... 1000000% disappointing......... NO STARS for the strings service and the price of the strings there is a ripoff ... 32 dollars for one pack of Luxilon ALU power, and Wilson NXT too.... BAD BAD BAD....

Nicole L.

Yelp
It's a nice facility for Citi Open. I was surprise there was such large area for the main court, restaurants, box clubs and shops. The rain definitely ruined the day we were there luckily we had box seats and a pass to the garden club where we stayed for the most of the night. Citi Open was fairly organized while the court was wet, the team brought out at least 10 blowers to dry the court so the game could continue after the first set was interrupted by the rain. The staff were working very hard so the semi-final didnt get cancelled. We continued to watch the game through midnight it was somewhat ridiculous but the players - Del Potro was great to watch being 2 m tall and all, he played well and won. Michael Haas was a drama queen throwing the racket and complaining about the sound of motor running elsewhere. After his complaint the court went very quiet. How effective! It could have been a better event but the rain was a mess however the weather was much cooler and less humid making it quite a pleasant night.

Yelp
I took a few tennis classes here last year and rented the courts for a few impromptu volleys. The outdoor tennis courts were great (I've never tried the indoor ones) and I found the classes super useful. You can sign up for a 6-week series of classes or just drop in for classes too if you prefer. The only downside was it was a little more expensive than I would have liked. Looking forward to a few more classes this Spring now that the weather is getting nicer!

David H.

Yelp
Not sure of this place outside of tennis tournaments, but they don't allow you to bring water inside during tournaments and then charge you $5 for bottled water. Oh yea, the water fountains conveniently don't work. Should be illegal when it's 100 degrees outside. Place is a rip off.

Shilpa N.

Yelp
They are the most unprofessional group I've dealt with. We have tried to book at least 4 semi-private classes with them and the first time, they cancelled one hour before our class. The second time, they didn't get back to us for three weeks (no one picked up the phone, or responded to emails), the third time, we showed up for our 6pm class but the teacher was a no-show because the Center never informed the instructor he had a semi-private class. Exasperated that this had gone on too long, I reluctantly booked a class for the following week even though this was getting out of hand for 6:30pm. I had to call the day before to confirm the class was still on and that they had informed the teacher and turns out they never input it into the schedule. So after making sure they did in fact input it into their schedule, on the day of our class, they call us and let us know that they can't do a 6:30pm class, the teacher already has a commitment at 7pm. How is it that they managed to mess up and not be able to execute one class properly is beyond me. Save your money, use CoachUp, or go to another tennis center. This one is the worst and can't seem to course correct.

Yelp
Prices are way up for the 2016 Citi Open Tennis Tournament! Don't expect to find the $25 ticket you read about on their website (which turns out to be $35 after junk fees); $35 is the minimum that they pretend to sell at the box office. But, they are only selling a very limited number of $35 seats in the top two rows of the main stadium. $55 is the price you have to pay after they post their "sold out" stickers on the $35 ticket option. Add in the fact that parking is now $15, and what was an affordable outing is suddenly more than twice you expected to pay.

Richard F.

Yelp
CitOpen during capacity crowds means nearly 3000 cars looking to park in onsite lots, but space for only 1500 (at $10 a car). Parking on nearby streets restricted. Need residential pass in windshield. Tow trucks and ticket writers will be out in force.

s b.

Yelp
The tennis lessons at Rock Creek are not work the money! The facility is falling apart, the staff is incompetent and the lessons are substandard. After finishing 4 out of a 5 week class, the teacher (Chris) has shown up late every single week (yet he ends our class promptly on time, if not early). When confronted about this, he said, "how can I be on time? I have to pick up the balls and get to the court." DO NOT TAKE LESSONS HERE!!!

Jess H.

Yelp
The best tennis courts in D.C. If you enjoy playing on well-kept U.S. Open-style hard courts or Har Tru and away from the noise of traffic, against a backdrop of only blue and green, this is the place for you. You can even get a glimpse of the stadium where the annual Legg Mason Tennis Classic is played in August in the run-up to the Open.

Brian W.

Yelp
My wife, father, brother, and I went up here from central VA to see the Citi Open tennis tournament last year, and for the most part the experience was great. Unfortunately we had walked across a field to get into the arena, and my father stepped into a well-hidden hole and messed up his ankle pretty badly. It was our fault though, as the field was roped off... we paid for our shortcut. The staff were very helpful toward us after this occurred because my father couldn't walk up the stairs and they helped us to get seats that were better for him. Also, the medical facility on-site was very helpful. I'd give it more stars, but we were only able to experience the positives of the staff because of a pretty big negative that occurred. And while it's technically our fault, they'd do well to make sure their landscaping is safe! ( we were far from the only one walking across the field, and likely not the only one to trip)... We'll probably be going back in the future regardless, and we'll keep a more watchful eye on the terrain!
