Where to Order Delivery in Nashville, According to a Country Singer | Eater

"This popular local sushi chain doesn’t just have quality food; it pays homage to Music City in a cheeky way. Wanting something with shrimp tempura? That’ll be under “good times roll” or “crowd surfer roll.”" - Rebecca Strassberg

My boyfriend, and I were travelling and wanted to try a hibachi and sushi experience in Nashville. We were not disappointed! The server was so nice and attentive throughout the whole meal. Our food was amazing, super flavor filled and fresh! The atmosphere was amazing, with a cool rock and roll experience, as well as a clean eating establishment! We are definitely returning next time we’re in Nashville.

Google
The Velcro Pygmies Roll was a great combo of ingredients and the Filet Mignon bits were the most flavorful part but the service sucked and this is the single less lackluster dining area I've seen at a RnR Sushi ever. I sat at the bar with my water for over 17 minutes and the second I got up to go urinate my food was placed on the table. That's irritating enough in itself. The employee moods were low and that reflected into the dining experience. Not cool at all.

Google
Honestly when I came in I was concerned that the focus was all on the aesthetic, and that the food would be secondary. No doubt they've got a strong rock music vibe and very cool design, but the food was awesome! We ordered jalapeno poppers and fried crab wontons to start. Both were good, but I especially enjoyed the poppers. For entrees we shared the Backstage Pass platter. Definitely glad we ordered this. The rolls exceeded our expectations. Very fresh and so much flavor! And honestly, the prices were better than I was expecting. In addition to the guitar platter and the appetizers we added a California roll and one of the hibachi meals. Five of us ate and were very satisfied, and got out for what I thought was a very reasonable price. We highly enjoyed our meal, and will likely be back (we live out of state).

Google
We had very high hopes for this restaurant. We were just traveling through and wanted hibachi and thought this would be a really cool experience. The atmosphere was very unique. The service was amazing. But unfortunately, our food was very salty. We all ordered the hibachi and unfortunately couldn’t finish our food because of the saltiness of the teriyaki sauce.

Kelsey was friendly and answered all our questions. Atmosphere was nice and I loved the music that was playing when we were there. Food was good. I'd recommend British Invasion Roll and the Prima Donna Roll

Google
When going in, a couple in their mid twenties were coming out shaking their heads so I asked if something was wrong with the food. They said the food was fine but it was too loud to try to talk. A couple came in and while looking at the menu, they asked to be seated outside (in 90° weather) because of the extremely loud music. While eating our delicious meal (since we couldn’t carry on a conversation) we noticed about 50% of the people were getting takeout. Was it the noise? I think most people come there for the food, not the extra loud music.

Google
Great Atmosphere, good service but we were not impressed with the food. It was plated beautifully but the taste was a let down. Our appetizer was delicious but the hibachi and ramen were not. The hibachi was just not up to the standard of other hibachi restaurants we have eaten at, it had lots of pepper and was dry. The soup was 👎. The flavor of the ramen was ok but the texture of it was strange, so strange that I could not finish eating it, maybe that is normal but I just didn’t like it. I will say that every plate of sushi they took to other tables looked amazing and people seemed to enjoy it. My rainbow sushi roll was ok but not as colorful.

Yelp
Great concept, cute dining area, fantastic service and really good food! A great place to grab sushi in Donelson

Yelp
Sushi chain in landlocked Tennessee - my fault for thinking it would be better. I was definitely brought in by the cool name, exciting menu, and fun decor. All of those things delivered 100%, but the food didn't hit the mark. First, skip the potstickers. They are downright gross. They came drenched in sauce - not sure what it was - and clearly frozen from a box. No part of them were good. The volcano roll was fun - heavy on the sauce, which was the downfall. I think if they would have went lighter on the sauce, it would have felt a bit more as expected. But, I think the sauciness was part of the ambiance and the rock-n-roll excess. The flavors were good, but I would have appreciated something a bit more refined.

Yelp
I mean what do you expect from a sushi chain? Even though Music City is hardly a Japanese hotspot, most sushi joints in Nashville can execute pretty impressive dishes. And almost nobody can mess up unagi nigiri (eel sushi). Well, unfortunately Rock N Roll completely botched it! Serving dry eel with no eel sauce? Mystery meat that looked way past its prime and may not have even been eel? Really? Yuck! Even the shrimp and yellowtail nigiri weren't made correctly. The ginger tasted like it was expired, and once they bring you a glass of water don't ever expect them to fill it up (not once, not even after two hours while catching up with friends)! The Thriller Roll is equally unimpressive, although a rare highlight was the Cajun-seasoned crawfish that came with it. The roll was pleasantly crispy. But the taste? Nope. And more stale ginger in a very, very small quantity? Oof. All this for over $50 before the tip? Come on, you've got to do better than that!

Yelp
People that work there are great sushi is what you'd expect from a chain restaurant but just know they will nickle and dime you to death. I was charged an 8% fee for takeout when I came in and was sat at the bar and had a drink and asked for my food in boxes instead of eating there having them wash dishes just so I could get my food out in a box because I wouldn't have eaten it all. I tipped and everything and just randomly noticed the fee which I thought was weird. So said something about it on their own personal reviewing system they got back to me and in my opinion were a little on the rude side. I'll put pictures in this review and you can read for yourself and decide on your own. I will definitely always ask for boxes after they bring a plate just to save a bs fee

Yelp
I was in the area and craving sushi after a long day so I thought I'd give it a try. My server was nice and knowledgeable but the speed of service for the restaurant overall was terribly slow. I was a party of one and upon my arrival the time to be acknowledged/greeted, seated and for someone to take my drink order (not even food) took entirely too long (I'd say at least 20 minutes). My server did apologize for the wait but these things set the tone of the experience for me and this is where it fell short. Maybe they prioritize large parties over small ones but at one point I even considered leaving. Sushi was decent but I would not go back.

Yelp
The love spell drink was fabulous. The spicy tuna over crispy rice was very good. However, the head banger shrimp was the highlight. Very good! The service was excellent. The server was on point, attentive and nice. 10 out of 10 I would recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
The sushi is low quality and the food is subpar and it's expensive for barely anything . I do not recommend this place for sushi. I've eaten there before and the food's a little bit better when you're there in person but when I had it delivered to my house and I live pretty close by it just didn't taste good. It didn't taste fresh. The miso soup didn't even have a single piece of tofu in it. The thriller roll tasted overcooked had zero flavor, despite being covered in spicey mayo. It was dry and I had to soak it in soy sauce, and it still had no flavor. The Nigiri and regular sushi were on par with possible grocery sushi. I would not eat here again. there are times when I give low reviews because the customer service is bad but rarely do I have to give low reviews because the food is just so bad that it's not even worth eating let alone paying for.
google avatar

Criselda C.

Yelp
Love the rock vibe of this place. Music and service were awesome. Tonkotsu ramen and iced tea were delicious too. Menu selection is extensive enough. Will need to return to try other savory items!
google avatar

Tara M.

Yelp
Sub par sushi, our pick up order was :45 minutes delayed and they seemed very flustered. It was peak Friday night dinner time so not sure if they were understaffed or just busy. Wasn't worth the wait, but my friends got fried rice/teriyaki and they liked it.
google avatar

Zac C.

Yelp
Food was solid and service was pretty good! The theme is really cool as well! Would def like to try some other things on the menu
google avatar

Candice B.

Yelp
I treated my daughter from Colorado here over the Christmas break, and she loved it. She got the VIP roll fried and I got the shrimp and chicken bowl. I don't even eat sushi, but this was really good. The ambiance is inviting with the music. The service was good, and the restroom was clean. I will definitely visit again.

Araya D.

Yelp
Horrible costumer service didn't even end up ordering waiter was super nice it was the ladies in the back just having not a kind a pleasant face when we were inquiring about food big no

John G.

Yelp
Interesting concept, just wish they wouldn't rely on the cheapest ingredients to center their rolls around. Service was great, food was meh
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
This was just opened! It's feels like a club with huge TV screens playing music videos. As for the food, they have a huge menu: sushi, habachi, and appetizers. I should've tried their specialty rolls but I had to go for the eel roll! Such a fun experience and will go again for the seaweed salad !
google avatar

Bailey F.

Yelp
We ordered a plain CA Roll, Ramen, and the Pyro Roll. All were pretty bad. Everything tasted over cooked and/or had strange flavor combinations. My miso soup was so small and lacked the typical tofu pieces and green onions. Not worth the price. When we opened our menus, they were sticky and had food in them... The booths also moved. When the person sat behind me, i got shoved into my table... Our server was incredibly kind, but was the only server as they started getting busy. We had to wait a while for our check. We were skeptical about this place, but wanted to try it since it's so close to our house. We eat a lot of sushi and unfortunately, this place was a complete miss.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this spot and prove the poor reviews wrong. Donelson needs a spot like this and I just wish it were a bit better. Service was good, space was clean, sushi was ok, hibachi was somehow off. I'm have eaten the same selections a another location and here there was some kind of flavor in the fried rice and hibachi sauce I did not love.
google avatar

Crystal T.

Yelp
We craved some sushi and wanted someplace close on our way to the movies and this place was our only choice. We have been here a few times and it is hit or miss on service and food. We ordered........ TNT Shrimp - suppose to have some bang but ended up being very sweet Fried rice - was soggy, it tasted more like brown rice than fried rice Shrimp Tempera Roll Super Crunch Roll California Roll These rolls just tasted odd. The service seemed off too. Next time, we will stick to our usual sushi place.
google avatar

Yelp
This is my go to place when we come to Nashville! Love the thriller roll. Great customer services as well. Look forward to coming again next year!
google avatar

Tori G.

Yelp
Rock N Roll Sushi's sushi tastes like what you get at the grocery store with slightly better rice. I ordered the rainbow roll, jam sesh roll, 2 salmon nigiri and 2 yellowtail nigiri (even though I received flounder, not yellowtail) to go. The salmon tasted soapy, not fresh, tuna was bright red, and the rolls were majority rice. Super disappointing considering the word "sushi" is in their name. Guess this is what I get for having a craving for sushi later at night and this is the only place open...

Lynn M.

Yelp
Food is amazing- price is high but it's worth it (occasionally) The fried rice is the best in town.
google avatar

Yelp
the best staff, the best food, and the best espresso martinis! ANNND CRAB RANGOONS. love coming here especially because they treat every guest like family
google avatar

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh, exciting flavors! We love sushi, and are excited that this sushi spot is a short drive away from our new home. The crab wontons are unique here, and it was hard not to eat the whole batch. We had takeout, and our order was correct and well prepared.
google avatar

Priscilla L.

Yelp
Ordered take out and I didn't get enough ginger. The nigiri had bad presentation and the fish was kind of thick and long but the flavor was ok. Overall 5/10. I wouldn't order take out again.
google avatar

Julia R.

Yelp
We got sushi Togo and loved it! We eat sushi all the time and thought it was great, I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews... see pics, it was delicious! Tasted fresh and had some really cool options that we don't find at other places. Place was clean and severs were nice when my husband went in to get the food.
google avatar

Debbie W.

Yelp
Everything was excellent from the ambience of the restaurant to the friendly staff. All of our food was so flavorful with just the right amount of servings! We've already gone back!

Sara T.

Yelp
We ordered from here for a work lunch and I was thoroughly unimpressed. The staff was rude when we addressed missing items, and what we got was sub-par. Definitely priced according to being a "theme" restaurant, not based on quality. Overcooked mushy rice, cold edamame, and nothing else stood out as any better than barely average.
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
I LOVE good sushi, especially fresh fish ... I've never been with since you restaurant that didn't have a sashing menu. You could order a few pieces so I did and it was a mistake. The salmon had a very odd taste to it It was supposedly fresh. It was not. 95% of the rules on the menu were either fried, spicy, or had cream cheese or some fried tempura something. If you didn't want fried or spicy you're kind of out of luck. I got the twisted tuna which was very spicy and just okay. The roll with cucumber on the outside and again just okay. I almost left because it didn't seem like there was anything I really wanted but I decided to take a chance. Beyond this the lighting at the table made it very difficult to read the menu and then I had to ask for a drink menu she said we have a beer menu and it looked like it belonged behind the service station. I could see they had taps but nothing said what was on draft. I did not see any sake or wine. I get what they're doing with the schtick but overall it's just weird and the food is not good. Will not be back sad to say.
google avatar

Yelp
Two nights in a row. The sushi was so good the hibachi was so good. The vibes and atmosphere was spot on. I love the time they take to prepare my food. Well worth it.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so honored to be invited to the soft opening of this brand new spot in Donelson and was not disappointed! The second you walk in you're greeted by music videos, neon, and super kind staff. The service was quick and efficient, plus the servers knew their stuff really well for the first night they were open. We had sushi rolls, tuna tataki, and shared a hibachi chicken. Everything was delicious and I can't wait to visit again! So happy to have this spot in our neighborhood.

Yelp
OMG! My new favorite place when I'm staying at a hotel by the airport!! The location and exterior leave so much disappointment to be expected even the name but do NOT be fooled!! This place is a SLEEPER!! They have a full bar with a diverse menu offering salads, hibachi, and sushi! I got a sided of hibachi vegetables for $5 that were literally the absolute best I've ever had!!! I'm not even joking! They were fresh vegetables well seasoned with a bit of crunch still left ooooo so good! I also got the tuna appetizer (not the tuna tataki) and it was impressive. It was literally a softball of tuna. Although it was not cubes of tuna like I was expecting it was more minced like in a spicy tuna roll it had excellent flavor! My husband ordered several sushi rolls and was pleased with flavor however he was knocked off his feet like I was. The price was a little high to meet his expectations. However I would highly recommend!
google avatar

Samantha J.

Yelp
Atmosphere is always amazing. Think hard rock restaurant (done right) merged with your favorite sushi joint. Service is alway phenomenal. Crispy Crab Wontons are amazing, just like regular crab Rangoons, but in chip form. Today we tried the Jalapeño poppers, they are amazing! Stuffed with cream cheese and crab - a MUST try. I always get the VIP roll and my mom always gets the Sweet Home Alabama roll-both are great.

Anthony W.

Yelp
From the moment we drove up till the time we left we were not disappointed. Everyone we came in contact with (owner and staff) were very polite and courteous. Our server Jonah... guy was a Rockstar. Jonah's attentiveness, personality, suggestions to food made our experience here over the top. Very memorable and pleased to have found this place. Thank you all. We'll definitely be back and telling all we know about this place. Keep killing it guys.

Yelp
Ordered the hibachi online for delivery, it was delicious and well packaged. Recommend pairing it with the yum yum sauce.
google avatar

Jasan B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and the food was spot on. The egg roll appetizer was quite good. I will stop by again.
google avatar

Nancy U.

Yelp
When the food and service both compliment each other, a review is a must! Shout out to Courtney for the awesome service this evening. We ordered the appetizer sampler, jailhouse roll, tour bus roll and finished off with the fried cheesecake. Everything was flavorful and fresh. Ah, be sure to check out their holiday cocktails! Will be returning for more soon.
google avatar

Jodie N.

Yelp
Just your average sushi joint. The prices were average, with the food being okay. Only thing that stuck out was the fact our server took a long time to come up to us despite there being very few people in the store.

Brandon M.

Yelp
Great service, awesome sushi, and fun vibes. Love it here and recommend it to anyone trying to have a good time!
google avatar

Jim R.

Yelp
Excited to try. I have been to one in other cities. no alcohol but that might be fixed by now but maybe poor planning maybe city so no big deal there. Great place for intro into sushi. many rolls are offered cooked or raw. there must be 80% of the rolls to have shrimp or crawfish in them offering limited selection. rolls were good no complaints there. my wife got the fried rice. I suggest passing on that. The fried rice was like a bad uncle bens rice. Service was just ok. I will try again as it has not been open long so takes time i am sure to get everything down.
google avatar

Ginger B.

Yelp
Service was lacking, I had to go find our waiter to get extra wasabi and ginger. Got up to grab ourselves napkins. Mind you there was plenty of staff. The rolls were good but overpriced. The kicker? They charged me for extra wasabi and ginger!

David H.

Yelp
I ordered through Uber Eats and called the restaurant because nowhere near the Uber site does it mention Soy Sauce. I spoke with a very nice gentleman on the phone and explained that I needed extra low sodium soy sauce as I had purchased extra wasabi on the order. He told me it wouldn't be a problem, I thanked him and hung up. Well, when my order came, I received four packs of regular soy sauce. If I hadn't called and asked specifically then I would chalk it up to my own stupidity. So, to whomever took my call today, THANK YOU for ruining my lunch. By the way, the Crispy Fried Wantons are Excellent!
google avatar

Rob V.

Yelp
Great food, good service. Enjoyed the old music videos playing on the screen. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
The fish is not fresh, and you can smell it when you first walk in. Hungry we decided to stay. Horrible mistake. The service is terrible. Rude, inattentive, and slow. It took over 30 mins on a not too busy Sunday to get our appetizer of crab ragoon, and we still hadn't gotten our sushi yet. I have never in my life been to a sushi restaurant that was this slow. Their cooked dishes are clearly frozen. Their fish is chewy and fishy. It's all glitz and nothing more at this place. I do not see them being open under the current ownership for long.
google avatar

Kym M.

Yelp
3 stars only because we like the food and concept. Been here a dozen times now and the service is never good. Slow, forgetful and unapologetic for mistakes. Never once have we eaten our food at the same time. I also do not ever recommend take out. There food does not travel well.

Alex W.

Yelp
Loved the menus that looked like album covers! The food was really delicious. We got the hibachi steak and chicken with rice and veggies. It was a great portion for the price and everything was really flavorful. We also got a couple rolls and they were really good too. We like the soy paper, so we got that, but the regular rolls looked good too! Music was good and we liked the music videos playing too!

Bethany M.

Yelp
Service was slow. The appetizer, crispy wonton was the best. Reminds me of crab Rangoon. Next we had hibachi. It was ok. We also split a sushi roll, Thriller... best sushi I've ever had.
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
Sushi is small... I paid $33 for two rolls the size of my palm. It was placed in a to-go box not meant for sushi. Well maybe I'm expecting too much coming from Hawaii. Not a fan..it was pretty empty when I went in during lunch.
google avatar

Grace B.

Yelp
Did not want to take a to go order over the phone. They did, and when we picked up the food, the salads were nasty. I did not feel comfortable eating it! Really unfortunate...

Christi D.

Yelp
Fun style with album cover menu, big screen tvs to catch the game, & good tunes playing. Oh, and the sushi was great! We shared the Tour Bus, the Sharp Dressed, and the Metalhead. Creative names, classy presentation, and freakin tasty rolls!
google avatar

Yelp
My women's ultimate frisbee and I kicked off week 2 of our semi-professional season with a W against Atlanta, then travelled to Nashville for a double header. Nashville's team put up a great fight and honestly took us by surprise, but we edged them out in the 2nd quarter, maintaining the lead until we secured the W. Unfortunately, our celebration was too big to handle, so we got kicked out of our locker room at the venue and decided to move along to Rock N Roll Sushi. Now, let me say that while sushi is not the best food to pregame Broadway St., these rolls brought the house down. I went with the classic Shrimp Tempura roll (includes 8 rolls) and had some tastes of others' orders, too. This sushi hit the spot, and our servers were super accommodating with our large party and even larger spirits. We specifically appreciate Katherine's welcoming attitude, thoroughness with our orders, and even providing local recommendations for the rest of our evening. Definitely recommend!
