While I have not been inside the church, I did go to the food bank they hold there. 2 weeks ago was my first time EVER going. It was great, the lady was nice and people boxing up items too. I however was not told you can only go once a month. Fast forward to today (August 23, 2024) I had my disabled child with me. I waited for people to go in line. There was this lady in front of me and they took her ID and handed her a box of food saying, you were here 2 weeks ago, I'll give you the box of food but you can only come once a month" my turn, I hear this so I say "once a month?" Guy replies, once a month. Now my child starts freaking out because he's hungry and I told him we were getting food. That did not happen. I guess if my skin color was a different color it would have been a different outcome given the lady in front of me was spanish. I do have to say thank you to the older gentleman who did give me a carton of eggs and walnuts. It just sucks the guy sitting down acted so indifferent and cold, he claimed to "care" and it supposedly "broke his heart" to turn me and my disabled child down but his body language and tone spoke volumes. It most definitely was not fair they allowed the lady in front of me to have a box of food (she had also gotten stuff from another lady who didn't want some items out of view of the guy who was doing the sign ups) but they refused me and my disabled child. I was considering attending that church since there were some people in the community who highly praised this church but after what happened at the food bank today I am definitely soured on attending church and going back to the food bank as well.
I do have to say the pastor of this church is a very nice man, as I spoke to him 2 weeks ago when he called me back and gave me the dates, I just wish I was told you could only go once a month because I most definitely was not told you could only get food there once a month.
