"Downtown Summerlin’s ice rink is back through January 2025. Rock Rink’s 8,000 square-foot skate zone on the Lawn is surrounded by a holiday train, for tired skaters to rest their feet, and holiday drinks and snacks to enjoy on those crisp winter nights. The day sunny and beautiful for ice skating. Line was short, but people take time in line. The fastest way is to open the QR code at the start of the line and sign in and add the waivers. Once you get to the front of the line, you get in really quickly. The music is nice, and the atmosphere is good. One think I noticed is that the skates are not deodorized after one turns them in and the rink is not leveled frequently. Saw lots of falls... maybe because adults and little children are on the rink at the same time. A small area was fenced due to the water making it really slippery.

This was a pretty fun experience, but make sure you get tickets in advance! You have to choose a time slot, and then you get roughly one hour to skate. It was $16 per person, and included skate rental. We have gone at night and also went during the day last Saturday and it was less crowded than at night. They charge $1.50 fee per reservation online, but they can sell out so check the website, it shows you how many tickets are still available for each time slot. The ice is a bit rough but they do run a Zamboni to smooth it out a couple times during the night. If you are not skating there are plenty of benches to sit and watch. The Christmas tree and music are so festive, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy before or after. A great way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Wanted to go ice skating on opening day 11/18/22 and read online, on google and even on the posted times at the location that the event closed at 10pm. We arrived at 850pm and were told that they would be closing in a minute. The staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional when asking why their time says they close an hour later we received a snide comment saying they are closed and have a good night. The people running this are children and seemingly just wanted to shut down early so they could go home. I guess the lesson is show up 2 hours before “closing” if you want to skate

Huge red flag when the rink is not Zambonied. So many holes and people tripping up. Safeties were around to patch holes but that is not enough. Hopefully you guys don't get many people hurt instead of having fun. Don't jeopardize others safety is all I'm saying.

Last couple days of 2019 and this is feeling just right. Proper temperature, sunset, and Celestial positioning really created an awesome ambience for a nice chilly nights of ice skating. This is fantastic view of the mountain range with a sunset behind it. Temperature was perfect and ice is just right. Staff is really friendly and helpful. Skate rentals are available and skating rules are friendly for the beginners. Great family fun and definitely worth the value since can you come back all day. #vegaslocal

Wonderful for kids to enjoy beautiful sunshine while skating!

it is pure and simple theft. I changed skates 4 times and none were sharp...and the skates are so worn that it's impossible to adjust them to our feet. 64$ in the trash because we were 4 peoples.

It's November 18th at 8:58pm the website says closed at 10pm on the 18th of November. The banner on the side of the rental shop says closes at 10 pm on the 18th of November. It's super interesting how with 30 people in the rental area at 8:58 pm on the 18th that they magically close at 9 pm. The children operating the rental shop were super rude and condescending when I asked why it was closing and why it said it closed at 10 pm when all of the stated closing time were apparently wrong? So riddle me that? Show up 2.5 hours before closing if you want to skate.

Yelp
Took my family of four ice skating on the Sunday after Christmas. We made reservations online and were even able to fill out the waivers for myself, my husband and my three and one year old which made it super easy to arrive, get our timed bracelets and skates. It was perfect for my three year old - they had beginner skates that went over her shoes and the red walkers to help them navigate the ice. My one year old however was not into it and it felt like a wasted $16 for him to take one round around the rink with us. It wasn't too crowded thanks to the reservations and times entry process. Overall, we really enjoyed it and will be back the next year. Only reason why it didn't get five stars is because it was pricey ($16 per person regardless of age) and it would have been nice if it was cheaper for those younger.

Yelp
Went there on Sunday January 14 around 2 pm. There was no line on entrance. Sign a waiver and pay and went to rent the ice skates. They didn't have any available for kids (the one that have two blades and are intended to be for kids) so we went for regular which was hard with little kids. There are also couple red plastic thing that you can push so if you are a kid it would be great help. They only had 5 of those and 30 little kids and adults who need those. The whole process of getting one of those is to wait until someone else is done and you can use it. So you would literally have to fight other people to grab it. No wait list. No reservations just first come first serve. No order. No nothing. This is ridiculous and outrageous. All the kids who are working there showed no compassion and seems liked they don't care. And I don't blame them they are just kids. I asked to talk to the manager. And the teenage girl in her seventeenth showed up. She was also rude and careless. She really didn't know what to Do. It's Sunday of course it will be busy. And it's a 3 day weekend. How come they are so busy and so unprepared?! Unbelievable. And unprofessional

Yelp
The ice was very rough and not cleaned often enough. It was smaller than I expected with lots of people. The only saving grace was the 30 minute helper stand. We could get it for our younger daughter, who couldn't skate. She was able to skate on her own with the stand. She really enjoyed that and we were able to get it twice for her.

Yelp
Fun day skating outside by a huge tree and fun train ride. The online ticketing makes it very organized and was not crowded for the hour I skated as it tells you how many spots available each hour when you buy tickets. The only thing was the skates seemed very worn...so if you have skates bring them. But overall a great outdoor activity for the holidays.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed with the owner and operator of this establishment. It is unacceptable to have children working at the counter who have no idea what they are doing. Furthermore, the fact that they do not accept cash is ridiculous. After driving 27 miles to get there, my kids had to call me back because they were informed that cash was not accepted and they needed to scan something at the counter to pay with a credit card. I had no problem with this and gave my kids the credit card. However, the young girl at the counter instructed my kids to keep clicking on the payment button because of a supposed system error. As a result, my daughter clicked six times and I was charged six times at $81.95 for 3 kids. Despite this, they did not allow my kids to enter the ice skating rink and told them to come back in 2 hours to try again due to a website error. This is an outrageous way to make money. They claimed that the charge did not go through, but I have proof and pictures showing that the charge did indeed go through and it reflected my account balance. Yet, they still refused to let my kids inside. It is a shame that this is the kind of business they are running. I don't care about the money; it is the fact that my kids were so upset that they couldn't go in that truly bothers me. I had to drive back to pick them up, and I was in no mood to argue with anyone because they have children working at the counter. I hope someone realizes what they are doing and shuts them down because they are nothing but crooks. There is no customer service and no one responsible enough to address and resolve issues like these. They handed my kids an email to fix the issues and send it off, but there were no apologies and no entry to the rink.

Yelp
We went last night on 1/2. First of all, the rink definitely looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day and was extremely bumpy and piles of ice everywhere. We asked a worker if they were planning on cleaning the ice soon and he said there was no manager on duty therefore the ice hadn't been cleaned all day. Secondly, the rental figure skates are awful. I've rented plenty of ice skates and these were by far the worst quality. Myself and others in my group felt like our ankles were bleeding from the pressure as soon as we put them on. The blades are not sharp so it's extremely easy to skid out (especially on ice that hasn't been cleaned all day) and it's impossible to keep your ankles straight. So many people around us were doing complete wipe outs from the mixture of the bad skates and ice. Very dangerous and wasn't fun at all. Save your money and go to the lifeguard arena's open skate in Henderson. Cheaper, high quality rental skates and they clean the ice regularly. I will give one positive to Rock Rink and that was the young workers. They were very kind and seemed like good kids who were well aware of the issues but of course couldn't do much about it.

Yelp
Skating in downtown summerlin is a fun winter tradition for most people living in the summerlin area. Everything from the chilly temperatures, gigantic Christmas tree, and jolly tunes gets you in the holiday spirit! It's a nice place for the aesthetics, but there are definitely better ice rinks in town. The ice was in dire need of a once over with a Zamboni, some portions of the ice were blocked off for being completely unusable, and some portions of glass around the rink was broken. For the area we are in, you would expect the rink to be kept in better condition. This is the first year I've noticed these things, so maybe it was an off time. Hopefully it's better kept for future years!

Yelp
Happy New Year 2021! Ice skating at Rock Rink in Downtown Summerlin was so much fun. Freely gliding on ice for the start of the new year felt invigorating! Sky's the limit to new adventures and much successes. This season's schedule is November 13, 2020 - January 18, 2021. I secured a reservation for New Years Day about a week in advance. Paid the fee and signed waivers online. Just present your QR Code at the counter upon check-in. This was our first time here. It was a nice surprise to see a large rink decorated with white string lights, colored spotlights, and pop music playing in the background. Compared to the rink at The Cosmopolitan, this is 8,000sqft and skate rental is half the price at only $16 per person (but only for 1-hour). The only downside is there are no cubby holders to store personal belongings, just underneath benches which is literally on the floor. So, plan ahead! In the mood for hot chocolate? The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has a mobile coffee truck on premises, which you can enjoy while sitting on the benches or standing along the outside perimeter of the rink. Parking is free and plentiful near the lawn off of Summa Drive. Have fun and be safe!

Yelp
Possibly some of the worst conditions I've ever seen at a ice rink. Plenty of people slipping on ice and getting hurt. Tons of excess snow and chips in the ice. I recommend going to any ice rink in Vegas but this one. As a local I've seen some bad rinks but this one takes the cake. Saw some teens get removed by security for slipping on this ice. Absolutely ridiculous. Employees on a extreme power trip and need to be humbled. Maybe instead of kicked out of the rink they should fix it. 1 star.

Yelp
For what this is, it is an okay experience for ice skaters and picture taking. The skates are uncomfortable and the ice is bumpy. They do a good job of limiting the number of people through their reservation system and while it seems to be an affordable option for a winter experience, it did not satisfy our family's ice skating itch. They could smooth the ice more often as it is quite bumpy and they could invest in more comfortable skates. Then I will return. Truth be told, I had a feeling this would be a repeat of what we experienced at similar ice rinks in the valley (Cosmo, GVR, etc.) and should have worked harder at convincing my friend to ice skate at a legit ice rink.

Yelp
this one girl with reallyrude and i got bruisess from the skats that took monthes to get rid of
google avatar

Yelp
It was like we were skating on shaved ice. the surface wasn't smooth at all, we were pretty much walking lol they said the next time somebody was coming to clean up the shave ice was two hours after our reserve skate time

Yelp
Too bad this place closes on Martin Luther King weekend holiday each year. There's no doubt it's cold enough to run this thing for a few more months and it's always packed when we go. My daughter loves the train, and the young lady running it was really nice. She also tried ice-skating the first time this year and we had a blast. Good fun for the whole family and looking forward to next year.
google avatar

Chelsea M.

Yelp
The ice skates they provide are so painful we couldn't even skate for 5 minutes. Sadly a waste of money :( good hot chocolate tho lol
google avatar

Yelp
I didn't want to give it one star because we like going here. But today really did us in. It was my wife and our 5 year old. They give you pink bracelets that they put on when you pay your incredible high price of 15 bucks. Anyway 30 minutes of skating and kid got bored. So we left. An hour later we came back. My kid lost his pink bracelet. Well sorry it will be another 15 bucks. But we have the receipt stamped one hour ago. So I told the young worker let me talk to your boss. She made a call to someone on her phone called big bro. I said is this the boss. He said yes. He said it's like money. I said big bro I wouldn't give my 5 year old money to hold. Needless to say they did nothing. This place isn't run well. Obviously based off the reviews. The ice was horrible. On a positive note the guy on the ice was the nicest as he helped my son. We're not rushing back here.
google avatar

Sheena M.

Yelp
The staff here is so rude. The girls doing the check in are too busy talking about the kind of men they like and they barely acknowledge you. I told one of the girls at the skate rental that one of the straps was stuck and instead If just helping me she rudely grabbed the skate and spoke to me like I was stupid.
google avatar

Steph J.

Yelp
I actually waited all year to finally go skating, brought my own and no discount, no place to put your shoes or anything else, I went early but there was no music, the ice was very bad like they have a zamboni which probably they barely use. There was a girl for "emergencies" on the ice, not once she told people not to cross from the middle of the rink and cut others way. It was so bad I left after 35 min, what a waste of time and money.
google avatar

Cynthia A.

Yelp
It's a beautiful sight but it sucks that it's by rsvp only & not walk up. I attempted to walk up twice because the scheduling system wasn't Great & showed very little details . The ice looked kinda cheap coming from a frequent ice skater. & those who love to skate know that the ice shape or from can interfere with our balance & that's not a good thing for beginner skaters. I do love the decor & the beautiful Christmas tree they set up . Overall schedule way ahead of time online & make sure that if you have feet problems such as pain for any reason beware of the rental skates. They're uncomfortable , I hope you guys can bring your own skates. Tootles ! (:

Yelp
I've never been to this rink but I would always see it whenever I went shopping at downtown Summerlin. It is pretty small, so I can't imagine how it would be when it's busy. Tonight wasn't that busy, so my 4 year old and I had just enough space to practice. Even when we had to take breathers, we were able to stop. Right when we paid to get in and changed into our shoes, we were wondering where would it be safest to place our belongings. NOTE: DONT bring much with you and don't wear expensive shoes because there isn't a locker and it's not a shoe rental that swaps skates for shoes. Yes, I do agree with everyone when it comes to the skates not being as good but hey it's a rental. There's a Little Rock rink for 4 and under, which scares me a little so I didn't let my daughter try. They don't have the support pushers for kids that I usually see at skate rinks which was a bummer. They did do an intermission to smooth over the ice, and they have a coffee bean truck for beverages which is convenient. Overall, not a bad experience. I had fun with my family!

Kristina R.

Yelp
Decided to close at least 5 hours early. I get it was windy, but they could have at least indicated that they were closed on the website to save us a drive across the city.
google avatar

Vikki K.

Yelp
It is a very fun place to ice skate and spend time with your family and friends! Wonderful place!!!!

Yelp
My family and I had a great time at The Rock Rink at Downtown Summerlin. The staff was really cool and check-in and skate rental were easy. We reserved tickets ahead of time, showed my QR code and walked right in. There was a coffee/hot chocolate truck on-site and they had regular hot chocolate, red velvet and peppermint mocha hot chocolates. We tried the regular and peppermint mocha hot chocolates and they were both good. It wasn't overcrowded and the ice wasn't bad. The skates were on par with the skates I used at the Cosmo Ice Rink, not super comfy, but doable. The only thing I wish the Rock Rink had was the Ice Skate Aid for kids. It makes it easier and safer for kids to be pushed on a penguin, reindeer or other ice skate device. A lot of the kids were holding the wall the whole time and the Skating Aids make it more fun.

Tiffaney B.

Yelp
Worst ice rink to skate on. I'm not a professional at any means but I can skate. I could barely move on the ice. After 10 minutes I was told no refunds. Don't waste your money.

Iakov M.

Yelp
I was with my wife, I liked the ice rink, it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. excellent ice condition. But the skates were terrible. If my size 11.5 is not yet so popular, then my wife, with her size 8, had to change skates 3 times. The laces on them require replacement and the skates themselves require maintenance.

Josiah N.

Yelp
This is the best place as an outdoor rink, great employees and I love that they added the hot coco stand next to the rink so you can stay warm with a refreshment

London S.

Yelp
expensive, skates are super painful, and the ice looked like it hadn't seen a zamboni in days. super crowded, overall very disappointing

Ariel M.

Yelp
Worst place to ice skate. The staff doesn't know how to skate and the ice management is so poor that when people fall they actually scrap skin on ice.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
The novelty of it all was really cute but it was kinda small and cheesy I didn't even rent skates by the time we got there because I felt the $15 wasn't really worth it. It's cute for smaller kids but from what I heard from others who did skate the skates weren't that great. Very little support and no double blade option for children. The Coffee Bean and Tea leaf truck was my favorite part. Over priced but that was well worth it for my caffeine fix. $4 train ride next to it also a huge plus.
google avatar

Amelinda L.

Yelp
Downtown Summerlin's ice skating rink is located on the northwest side of the shopping center - north of the Dining Arroyo; between Rosemary Park Drive and Oval Park Drive. Admission is $15 and that includes the skate rental. I assume this is an all-day rental as there are no other price options. Tickets and Skate Pick-Up/Drop-Off is located on the left wall prior to entering the rink. There's a Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf drink truck located on the left side of the rink that serves cold and hot beverages. They offer their signature Ice Blended standard coffee, tea, lattes, flavored lattes, tea lattes and their iced counterparts, and of course, hot chocolate or vanilla. The prices range from $3-5. Restrooms are conveniently located between the rink and the skate pick-up/drop-off office. The rink is a nice size and seems to be larger or possibly the same size as the popular rink at The Cosmopolitan. There are a few benches surrounding the east side of the rink, but not nearly enough to support many people hanging out. Also, there are no fire pits or snacks (ahem, s'mores?). So, this rink is for ice skating only and the occasional hot (or cold) beverage break. It's neat to check out, but if you're not planning to skate, there isn't anything else for you here.

Craig S.

Yelp
Great Rink in a great area! Love the Rock Rink in Downtown Summerlin. Love that its close to all the shopping and food options.
google avatar

Tiny N.

Yelp
This place is awesome for the location, however the price is not worth what you get. They didn't have desired size skates 4y/6y, and the place isn't even busy. The ice is slushy on the walls, and uneven on the field. Not to mention the rude staff. I'll keep my $15 and go elsewhere. Definitely won't be returning here!!
google avatar

SD G.

Yelp
My daughter figure skates n loves all opp to hit the ice. It's a perfect environment and a great location where the rink is set up. However the ice or HORRIBLE! It's Rock hard and ice I cut in the morning! If you come to skate use the rentals; otherwise, you will ruin your blades especially ones that cost $700!
google avatar

Mijo M.

Yelp
The rink is really nice but I suggest bring your own ice skates because the ones they provide you with suck ass. I'm usually a size 8 but the plastic dung into my ankle even with the skate as loose as possible. It was bad enough, I couldn't even stay up with out causing unbearable pain. Asked for the next size up, same thing. We explained to the gentlemen about our situation and how I didn't even go on the ice at all. The gentlemen explained that other people complained of this and that this was all they had. All the gentlemen could do for us is give is another pair of tickets to the ice rink, "They're just like money". What the fuck am I going to do with 2 ice skating ring tickets? Sell them to someone, so they have a terrible experience as well? I don't think so. The whole situation was fucked up. Total scam.
google avatar

Leah A.

Yelp
First time ice skating, which was an interesting experience because I can barely rollerskate without falling on my behind and I have never gone rollerblading. Luckily, I did not fall once! (Thanks to my husband for being my unwavering crutch and support when I'm about to topple over into my bitterly cold, unavoidable demise.) It was somewhere around 20 bucks, I think, for the rental skates. We went with a couple of friends around Thanksgiving time, and it was very festive here, playing Christmas music and even offering a parade later on in the night (that we missed because we left earlier than our friends). Lots of people were skating, younger kids, older adults. Lots of decorations and gave a real feeling of a "wintery Christmas" even though we are in the middle of a desert. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because my friends said that the ice was not as smooth as other places they've skated at. I personally haven't been to other skating rinks, but I did see what they meant when I skated here. Still a great experience!

Officially_Katya X.

Yelp
This skating rink is AMAZING. Definitely kid friendly and amazing coffee and hot chocolate. I am so excited to go again to this amazing rink.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Ice in the desert? You bet! A little pricey? Yes, that too. But the rink is small enough that little kids can get around it without much trouble. The staff is polite and friendly, and they help out where they think it's needed. The Zamboni is quick and efficient, keeping downtime to a minimum. And you get to skate outside like a Canadian! What's better than that!

Genevive C.

Yelp
A really cute and fun holiday rink. Not too crowded but not dead either, and had great energy. Below average, over priced drinks which I was half expecting. Also not very safe that the skates offered aren't sharpened even once through the entire season making it harder to skate. I've been skating for 7 years so it wasn't too big of a deal but it should be their job to provide the best experience possible.
google avatar

Neda K.

Yelp
Angry staff, no assistance for little kids, no refunds, just terrible people! I would NEVER take my kids back. All they wanted was to skate and they left crying because the staff have no tools to assist small children. No refund either. Such a bad place, nasty wet ice, broken skates, smells like old socks
google avatar

Anna J.

Yelp
We took a group of 7, 5 and 4 year olds and everyone had a blast! They all quickly learned how to stand on their skates on their own and "skate" on the ice. They do not have anything for the kids to hold onto except the wall on the edge of the rink, which I feel is great, the kids adjusted quickly and are begging to go back! $15 for an all day pass including skate rental. Great value in my opinion. Word of advice... bring an extra pair of pants or leggings for your littles to change into afterward as they are bound to fall and get wet and cold :-)

John J.

Yelp
The ice skates themselves are AWFUL! The rink is fine, but the rental boots hurt your ankles to point where everyone in our group gave up after 1 or 2 loops around the rink. We will never come back here. The rink at the top of the Cosmo is more expensive but I guess you get what you pay for. My ankles may never forgive me.

Mary M.

Yelp
This venue was great!!! The staff was courteous and professional and the rink aids were right there anytime anyone fell... we went on a Thursday around 5 ish... was not crowded but became crowded around 6-6:30. Is was so much fun. Great price $15 per person. Hot chocolate was BOMB. The red velvet especially. Was told it was a better time than the cosmo rink. And they had their own zamboni to smooth the ice. Good times! Cheers rock rink!!
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
Pricing was really reasonable ($15, includes skates, all day pass). We took our niece and nephew in the morning then returned in the evening after lunch/before dinner. It was a great inexpensive way to spend one of our days over the holiday weekend. The staff was really nice and helpful and they maintained the ice regularly. It also wasn't over crowded (which was a concern for a holiday weekend) and in true Downtown Summerlin fashion, was dog friendly (I didn't take her on the ice, but she was in the seating area w/ me w/ no problems). If the kids are lucky they might even find some shaved ice in the grass to make into snowballs!
google avatar

Yelp
I took my kids and nephews skating for the first time in their lives. They had a blast! Kudos to the mall for bringing this great rink to the area. Kid friendly galore!!!
google avatar

Bethel M.

Yelp
Loads of outdoor ice skating fun. Fair price for skate rental and all day pass. There are more adults here in the morning than kids, so perfect for all ages.
google avatar

Agnes G.

Yelp
2 Zambonies. Wish it was bigger. Fun to finally skate in an outdoor environment. Parking was plentiful. Wish they offered closer restrooms. Can't wait for next years' rink!

Justin K.

Yelp
I bought a wrist band they didn't give me a refund I was literally there for 2 min not really worth it also it's small and the people in the yellow jackets are rude also the ice skates suck half of them are broken also the people that work there are kind of dumb this guy gave me two left ones then one hokey one figure skate like for real he can't read also it's a waste of money 15 dollars for one day haha that's really fun it should be 10 or 7 dollars can't wait till its gone

Lisa D.

Yelp
Took my daughter ice skating here during the Christmas holiday. It was very crowded so it was hard to have a good time. They only open for a short season so if you are a serious skater, this is not the place to go.
