Family-owned on Rudee Inlet since 1989, Rockafeller’s pairs marina views with Chesapeake standards—she-crab soup, crab cakes, and oysters. Recognized by Virginia Living and covered by local news for award-winning soup and oyster recycling, it’s a community-minded classic.

I had a truly wonderful experience at Rockafeller's. We were a little ahead of our scheduled reservation, but they were still able to seat us right away. Our server, Wes, was very knowledgeable of the specials and menu items and highlighted several key offerings. We kicked things off with the BBQ shrimp and a ceasar salad to share. I ended up going with the blackened salmon and substituted the vegetable medley for asparagus. The salmon was absolutely perfect and just fell apart. I highly recommend trying this place out.

When dining out with loved ones and friends, every minute counts. Our group of three found the perfect restaurant for a glorious evening in Virginia Beach: Rockafeller’s Restaurant at Rudee Inlet. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot every interaction was friendly, warm, and attentive. The friendly valet assured us they don’t charge (tips only). Although we had no reservation (we will next time), the lovely hostess conferred with the owner, who figured out how to meet our request. Would we like two high tables pushed together by a corner with outstanding views on two sides? Absolutely, we said! Staff set the table, and we looked at Rudee Inlet’s docked boats and waterside homes. Devon, our handsome, attentive, and kind server (also tending the bar), asked what we would like for drinks. He smiled and quickly brought three glasses of water. When we asked if we could still order from the Happy Hour menu, he checked and returned with good news. The oysters Rockafeller’s with cheese and spinach—a house specialty—were divine! So were the Brussels Sprouts. Devon returned to take our orders, telling us about the evening’s Chef Specials and his favorite, the grilled salmon with pesto sauce, which was homemade and delicious. I ordered the salmon; my friends ordered the classic crab cakes and the seafood mac and cheese. Our meals arrived promptly, each dish enticingly arranged. Shortly after, Devon came by to ask about our dishes and whether we needed anything else. We three were thrilled with our choices, and one of us had already decided that the next time our group returned to the area for the weekend, she wanted to come to Rochafeller’s both evenings. Her crab cake dish was that good. Devon smiled. The elegant and charming lady who’d suggested our seating arrangement stopped by to see how we were doing. Most definitely, we assured her, sharing our commitment to return. We then learn she is the owner. We let her know how much we appreciated the welcoming, friendly, and attentive service everyone provided, especially Devon, and how much the ambiance added to our enjoyment of our delicious meals. Devon pointed out that all the ingredients, like the pesto sauce, are fresh and homemade. After finishing our meal, we asked about the welcoming waiting area that feels like a well-appointed living room. We learned that it had been designed to be inviting and comfortable for waiting guests. On a wall hung a painting listing Rockafeller’s values: “In this house, we….give hugs, do hard things, are honest, say “Please,” stay positive, always forgive, are respectful, comfort others, count our blessings, never give up, say “Thank you,” have fun and laugh, keep our promises, love unconditionally.” Ah, yes, we experienced how these values shine through the caring service, fabulous meals, attention to detail, and positive outlook that made our dining out a memorable evening we will cherish and wish to repeat.

Fresh seafood plates which will not disappoint in taste, quantity, and presentation. For appetizers, We ordered the crab dip which was came with lump crab in a creamy and spicy sauce. We also had the Oyser Rockafeller that came sizzling hot and burst with garlic, bacon, cheese, and spinach. I had the catch of the day which was a delicious Tuna seared to medium rare on a bed of veggies and risotto. We also had the grilled shrimp Rockafeller, also very tasty and had similar ingredients to the Oyster Rockafeller. Other dishes we ordered were Seafood Mac n Cheese, overall good, but I thought could’ve used a little less scallops. Fish tacos were very good with fresh ingredients and balanced of crunchy / meaty fish. The atmosphere and views are very nice around Rudees Marina area. Service was friendly and very engaging. All in all, a great experience.

Went here just to get Rockefeller oysters and was not disappointed. The drinks were good and the staff was friendly. By far, my favorite Rockefeller oysters in town! Also tried the crab soup and was also very good

On Sunday, July 13th, our party had the pleasure of dining at Rockefeller's Restaurant. We were particularly impressed with the relaxing ambiance of the wrap-around deck. The highlight of our meal was the tuna steak, which, being the first catch of the day, was exceptionally delightful and truly elevated the Overall dining experience.

The restaurant had a good atmosphere. The view of the boats was fun. Had the she crab soup, shrimp hushpuppies, the early bird special (fried shrimp, ceasar salad and chocolate mousse) As well as, the seared grouper. The shrimp and ceasar salad was good. Grouper was not great... served with too much oil/butter. Potatoes and vegetables were good. Chocolate mousse, hush puppies and she crab soup were fantastic!

From the moment we arrived at Rockefeller, we knew we were in for something special. We were greeted warmly by a member of the staff who immediately made us feel welcome, walking us to our table and pointing out the stunning view we’d get to enjoy throughout our meal. The atmosphere was sophisticated yet comfortable, beautifully designed with an energy that felt upscale without being pretentious. Admittedly, the start of our dining experience was a little slow. But that was short-lived, and everything turned around the moment Jacqueline arrived at our table. Jacqueline was, without exaggeration, the highlight of our visit. Her presence added a layer of warmth and professionalism that elevated the entire evening. She offered genuinely engaging conversation and had a deep, well-rounded knowledge of the menu. Whether we asked about appetizers, drinks, or entrees, she gave thoughtful, detailed explanations that helped us make choices we felt confident and excited about. It was clear Jacqueline didn’t just know the menu, she understood the craftsmanship behind each dish and was passionate about sharing that with us. Her descriptions were vivid and helpful, and her recommendations? Spot on. Every course she brought to us was beautifully presented and showcased a perfect balance of flavor and texture. Nothing felt overdone or underwhelming, it was the kind of meal you remember. We ordered the cocktail specials of the evening, and they were just as impressive as the food. Fresh, well-balanced, and creative, exactly what you’d hope for when trying something new. Throughout the night, Jacqueline maintained a natural, flowing conversation without ever being intrusive. She read the table perfectly, knew when to engage and when to give us space, and made us feel like more than just another party on her list of tables. Her ability to create that kind of connection truly changed the atmosphere, an already lovely restaurant became a warm, memorable experience because of her. In short, Rockefeller delivers on all fronts, ambience, views, and food. But it’s people like Jacqueline who take a great restaurant and turn it into an unforgettable one. We’ll absolutely be back, and when we do, we’ll be asking for Jacqueline by name.

Second time here. We absolutely love Rockafeller's! We always have a difficult time picking something from the menu, since we'd like to eat everything! Fresh Virginia oysters were devine, and we loved the fried calamari! Went great with our tasty cocktails. Husband had a delicious mahi (catch of the day), and I enjoyed my pasta with scallops and shrimps. I especially liked the creamy pesto sauce, which wasn't too overwhelming and didn't take away of the great scallops and shrimps, which were cooked to perfection! We also loved our dessert: a classic crème brûlée. The only thing that we were dissapointed with, was the kids meal. As an adult you get a beautiful menu, with mainly fish dishes (as it should be, so close to the sea and a harbor), also some great meat options (NY strip,.ribs..), beautiful salads (check pics from others!), etc. Kids menu has the option of ribs, chicken fingers or mac&cheese. My son picked the mac&cheese with applesauce. The applesauce is just a cold plastic cup that you have to open yourself, straight from the supermarket (at least put it in a nice little bowl and warm it up). He barely touched the mac and cheese, which also seemed to come straight from some box. Please do better. Why are there no fish items on the children's menu? My son loved the fried calamari and my daughter ate almost all my scallops and shrimps. We are used to ordering some extra and just share our food with our children, but if you take the effort to make a children's menu, make sure it's up to par with your adult menu. Our children also love real vegetables like broccoli, zucchini, carrots, ... Applesauce or mandarin slices are not exactly a worthy side. Despite the dissapointment of the children's menu, staff and waiters are very attentive to them. Getting them straws, plastic cups with water, cleaning up when they spilled, etc. They also have plenty of high chairs, a changing table and crayons with a color/game menu to keep them busy. Except for the kids meal, it was basically perfect. We'd love to come back!

Yelp
When a restaurant leaves mr speechless, it's hard to write a review. I didn't make a reservation and took a chance on getting seated and everything exceeded my expectations! The she-crab soup was superb, the crab cakes were amazing, and the fried shrimp was delicious. But what really captured my palate was the cilantro-lime rice and seasonal veggies. Oh my goodness, so flavorful! My daughter even wanted to order a side of the veggies to go. As for the ambiance, nothing beats a waterfront view. Absolutely nothing! Another thing I love is that they don't add any additional surcharges or gratuity for a party of four. I absolutely love that and will definitely be back. I'd much rather tip my server generously than be forced to pay these crazy automatic surcharges. Sorry!! No pictures unfortunately!!

Yelp
Fantastic! Nothing but rave reviews for Rockefeller! I stopped in with a friend of mine. When we arrived my car was parked by kind valet staff. Once inside we were seated instantly (reservation) by a window. It was nice to look out while the sun was still out. So A+ for the view. The she crab soup was creamy and packed lots of crab in the cup. It had great flavor, and was nice and hot! My friend enjoyed her salmon. The flavors really complimented eachother. My fish was moist and flaky. I cannot remember what it was called, but it was perfect. The desserts also hit the spot. We opted for the carrot cake and mousse. We just had to. It was worth it. The mousse had a great strong chocolate flavor, but the cream broke that up. I highly recommend adding this restaurant to your list of places to eat at.

Yelp
Was in the area with a friend and wanted to try a new place... Rockafeller's on Rudee Inlet did not disappoint! The vibe was somewhere in between casual and upscale. Think valet parking, fresh flowers on the table and a view of the water mixed with a diverse blend of diners of all ages wearing everything from jeans and shorts to dresses and sports jackets. We called ahead for reservations and were seated immediately at a small table by a window overlooking the boat slips. The service was excellent, the server was able to make recommendations and the food came out relatively fast for a Saturday night. We both ordered one of the nightly fish specials, both were good and nicely plated. A special mention goes out to the award winning she crab soup and the brussel sprouts served with the salmon, some of the best I've had. Also worth mentioning is the fact that that they do serve from the lunch menu in the evenings so if you just want a fish sandwich or a burger they can accommodate. I love a crab cake sandwich or a lobster roll and if you enjoy oysters, I watched platter after platter rolling out of the kitchen; they must be quite good! With so many options on the menu, I'll definitely head back another night to try some of the other selections, overall it was an outstanding experience.

Yelp
We stopped in for brunch right at opening earlier today and had a great time. The restaurant is beautiful with very nice decor and is right on Rudee inlet with gorgeous water views and lots of boating/boarding activity to watch while you dine. Nearly every table has a view to the water even if you aren't seated at a window directly. We arrived right at 11am on Sunday when they open and there was plenty of seating all around. Sophia, our waitress, was a doll and took excellent care of us although she had about 5 other tables. Very good service. Their brunch menu had all the standard fare you could want like French toast and eggs Benedict as well as some seafood inspired omelets and other items. We tried their fresh shrimp hush puppies which were delicious. We ordered a range of items from their brunch menu: -Oysters Rockefeller -Shrimp hush puppies - served with a pimento dip -French toast -breakfast burrito -classic eggs benedict -Shadowlawn Breakfast - eggs, protein, potatoes and biscuit -Cobb salad All of them were pretty good. The hush puppies were spectacular - really fresh and hot and delicious - you could tell they are made to order. The oysters were also great. Aside from that, nothing too spectacular in the main entrees, but everyone enjoyed theirs. The eggs benedict, hush puppies and oysters were probably the stars of the meal. They have a second floor with more seating and a wrap around patio with outdoor tables but we didn't see it - much too hot today. Another time!

Yelp
I've wanted to try Rockafeller's Restaurant for quite a while so when I noticed they were hosting a Mother's Day Brunch, I mentioned it to my daughter and she made reservations for us. As soon as we arrived, the Valet Assistant parked our car and was very friendly. Unless you don't mind parking on the street, valet parking is required. Thankfully, we were able to be seated fairly quickly as soon as we walked in. The menu was specifically created for the Brunch, which I loved and it included a little of everything. The 'You Are Appreciated!' drink looked appealing. It included Malibu Rum, Passionfruit, Pineapple and Champagne and was hands down, one of the best drinks I've ever had!!!! I decided on the She Crab Soup along with the Rock's Seafood Omelette with Brunch Potatoes. The soup was outstanding and included a generous amount of crab! I would return just for the soup alone, it was divine!!! The seafood omelette was pretty good as well. Since we wanted to finish with something sweet, we decided on the Jamaican Rum Cake and boy did we taste the rum. The cake was very moist and had great flavor but if it had a bit less rum, it would have been perfect! Overall, we had a wonderful time at Brunch. Rockefeller's Restaurant has beautiful decor and is perfect for date night, girl's night or just dining in for great food. Our waitress was very nice and I will definitely be returning soon to try their items from the normal menu.

Yelp
I've been to Rockafeller's several times, most recently this past weekend for a birthday brunch celebration. The service is consistently excellent, which is a big draw for me, and there are menu items I'd come back to try for myself. We made reservations for this past Sunday at 12. When we arrived, there appeared to be plenty of tables available, but it did pick up closer to our departure. The restaurant is quite spacious, clean and welcoming. There was a sign out front indicating a shower was hosted recently, so it appears they have options for private parties. The parking lot, like other nearby restaurants on Rudee Inlet, is small. We usually have little trouble finding side-street parking a block or two away. I suspect that during peak season, parking would be more of a challenge! Both host and server greeted us right away away. Our server was incredibly engaging, attentive and kind during our visit. We had a few special requests for our little one and he accommodated them all - even gifted us extra "leftovers" to go. I wish I recalled his name to give him some kudos! They have great drink specials for brunch - $3.99 mimosas, screwdrivers and bloody mary's. I've heard the happy hour specials are quite good as well. For entrees, several of us had the seafood omelet, mine was with egg whites and no hollandaise. Family also tried the cornflake-crusted french toast and breakfast tacos. The tacos were knife-and-fork variety (as in way too big to eat like a regular taco). The french toast got good reviews. The crunchy crust was a good contrast to the soft interior. My omelet is one thing I probably wouldn't order again. It was a bit greasy and the seafood was overcooked, leaving the shrimp and scallops tough. The accompanying potatoes had good flavor. Overall, this visit, and others before, have been pretty good. I'll certainly return for the service, ambiance and to try something new!

Yelp
Saturday night was the first time I have been to Rockafeller's since BC (before Covid). Boy, has it changed!! Sitting in a picturesque location at Rudee's Inlet with a view of the docked boats adjacent, the restaurant is at the end of Mediterranean near the intersection with Winston Salem. If coming from the east continue on I-264 after it becomes a surface street. Then turn south on Mediterranean. Easy peasy! From the Resort Strip proceed south until it ends & make a right turn on Winston Salem, then a short right on Mediterranean. I've been frequenting Rockafeller's for decades and always perceived its decor & menu to be touristy. This time was much different. The long walkway to the entrance has always been very handicap accessible. But it was so beautiful last weekend, covered with a trellis which was strung with beautiful lighting. It felt like walking into a fairy tale. Stepping inside it was impressive to see a new large waiting area with a comfy living room style. The furniture & prints were very well done. The only problem I had was that its open floor plan area required a step up. That's asking for falls. The restaurant decor & seating has also has been upgraded nicely. Nothing has improved as much as the menu, which previously seemed to be stereotypical tourist oriented fare. it now has awesome choices, prepared & presented to please even the most discerning palate. My son & I began with a dozen Oysters on the Half Shell. I sent my thanks to the staff who shucked the oysters. Each was completely separated from the shell, requiring no digging with the oyster fork to release it completely from the shell. It has been a long time since I've dined at a restaurant that served perfectly shucked oysters. The Virginia Oysters served were tasty & fresh. My cocktail was the Kentucky Splash, which is called a Bourbon Splash at some restaurants. The cocktail was also perfection. The small ice cubes worked much better than the crushed ice used at most restaurants. For an entree I chose the Char-Crust Mahi served with Sautéed Spinach, Cilantro Lime Rice & Balsamic Tomato Salad. It was yummy. I couldn't have been happier with my choice. My son ordered the Salmon Provençal with Capallini Pasta, Roasted Tomato, Black Olives, Sautéed Spinach & Herbes de Provence with a Lemon Beurre Blanc sauce. He splurged on calories by enjoying a very large slice of Chocolate Eclair Pie. I had only two bites of it. I promise! Much to my surprise, since I don't normally like Eclairs, it was awesome. Our server was friendly & attentive. She made no attempt to rush our dining experience. Since I don't see well to drive at night & my son has returned home, I am very tempted to take a ride share & visit Rockefeller's again very soon. The restaurant is well deserving of a 5 Star review in every category.

Yelp
Having friends in from New England, we decided to try Rockefeller's. We were quite pleased. We were seated as soon as we arrived and our server was right there with water and menus, as well as specials. She was exceptional all night. The food was great! And the views from our table were perfect for a summer night.

Yelp
Food was great and have no complaints except no raw oysters when we were there. Bathrooms and restaurant was pretty clean. Service was pretty good and kudos to the valet as they noticed we got up to leave and had the cars running and ready for us outside.

Yelp
Three of us decided to dine and celebrate an academic milestone here. The place is 5 minutes from VBCC and has a parking lot. At first glance it seems to be a nice place on the water, unfortunately the food did not match the decor. The she crab soup was delicious and thats it. The other dishes were under seasoned and soaked in butter, gives me the impression it was prepared without care.

Yelp
Another update because I was actually here on a Sunday afternoon and NOT a HH. We were seated immediately and Linda took great care of us. She was so friendly, we truly enjoyed her. My mom got the lobster roll and I got the tacos and my husband got the eggs benedict. Everything was delicious. Roll and tacos came with french fries. My tacos were huge....I debated on how to eat them. They were a little bit bland but I like lots of flavor. The food came out so quickly.....impressive. You definitely can't beat the view. Once again.....Linda was a sweetheart and a joy to talk to. She took wonderful care of us.

Yelp
The food was delicious! I've been to places where view was nice and get so disappointed in such mediocre foods, but this place was so good and it had such a great view, and the staff were so amazing and kind. Will definitely be bringing some friends to join us again.

Yelp
Somewhat casual, somewhat nice restaurant. Downstairs and outdoor seating are really nice. The upstairs bar is really small and crowded, doesn't really fit the vibe of the restaurant. The servers were really accommodating and were able to move our seats outside when we asked. Beautiful views outside of the water. The food was delicious, everything was fresh and well seasoned. Drinks were not strong, mostly just tasted like mixer, no hint of alcohol at all. Good for food and atmosphere, okay for drinks.

Yelp
We were a foursome and made reservations which we strongly recommend. We sat by the beautiful windows overlooking the Rudy inlet. The restaurant itself felt spacious. Our waitress was personable, and attentive without being intrusive. All of the staff that we encountered were polite and very professional. We've tasted she-crab soup at many of VB's popular restaurants, and this was one of the best as it was rich yet not overly heavy and had a very generous mound of succulent crab meat. At first, the portion appeared rather small, but the quality of the soup was so good we soon forgot about that quibble! Two of us had the special which was a rockfish topped with a light, flavorful, and luscious sauce which complemented the moist rockfish perfectly. I had mahi-mahi fried in a very light, pleasing batter. All the dishes were served with perfectly cooked aromatic rice and a fresh vegetable medley, lightly cooked with a perfect color. Rockefeller has a somewhat elegant atmosphere and yet at the same time a down to earth vibe. Their prices are comparable to other restaurants of its type in the area. The menu is selective and lunch items are available for dinner. The valet parking tops off the experience. A quick glance at other tables convinced us that we need to return to sample other items on the menu!

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would. Decided to go here because Rudee's did not do it for me. Food was very nicely displayed. Server was attentive and offered recommendations. She was not always asking how the food was every minute or if I needed anything. Filled my water up without being asked. I ordered the classic Crab Cakes. If you are hungry, I would order an appetizer if you choose this entree. Looks like a decent amount of food but did not fill me up completely. Does not come with Remoulade sauce so make sure to ask for it. Potatoes and asparagus were cooked perfectly. Not hard and not too soggy. Very nice view of the Lake Rudee waterway. There was an elegant but tropical feel inside the dining area. A sitting area was also present at the entrance with up scale padded chairs and sofas. Very impressive. With a name like Rockefeller's I'm sure they wanted to go all out.

Yelp
Fresh grouper was overcooked to the point it was a piece of rubber. Manager had it remade and gave us a piece of cake. The cake was delicious.

Yelp
We were waited on promptly by Taylor who highly recommended the She Crab Soup. We tried it and found it quite satisfying. I had the Smoky rib sandwich which was tasty. The fries were hot and the Cole slaw was delicious. Freshly made. We also enjoyed the wedge salad which was a head of romaine sliced in two trimmed with pickled onions. Cherry tomatoes, bacon bits with a blue cheese dressing. Grilled Mahi was cooked perfectly. Service was excellent. "Thank you Tyler". The building and restrooms were very clean especially for a restaurant in a marina setting.

Yelp
This was a great experience. Peaceful ambiance on the deck (upstairs, outside) even though there was a private party happening. The service provided by Christopher (and the manager whose name I didn't catch) was great! Helpful and responsive to any displeasure (old fashioned with the wrong ice cube for example). The dirty martini was delicious, I love that Christopher thought to ask how many olives. The house garden salad lived up to its name with all the veggies. The She Crab Soup was very good, great portion of crab and tasty soup base. I also ordered one of the specials, the tomato garlic halibut with risotto--the fish was perfect, the hint of basil was a great touch. The sautéed spinach was a great substitute to the green bean-carrot mix that came out at first(definitely was frozen and not what was originally described). The rum cake was a pleasant ending, you can taste the rum so beware.

Yelp
Excellent food choices, oyster rockafeller!!!! Service was on point and the water view!!!

Yelp
Food and service good. Taken aback with the "cake fee". Spent $3.99 a person total ~$28.00 for 7 people) to slice the cake and utilize the small plates with forks. Plates were not passed out nor cake was cut by server (which was ok but....). The fee just seems a bit excessive. We ordered several appetizers, an entree for each guest, alcohol beverages, and coffee. There were several open tables in the restaurant so we weren't preventing other guests from getting seated. A little dispirited on returning to celebrate any special occasions at this restaurant in the future.

Yelp
I chose this place to host a retirement party (law enforcement related).Due to not being in the area at the time, I had to coordinate with this business via email. The atmosphere is lovely, the food is great, but dealing with management and employees is the sole reason I will not recommend this place or return which is very disheartening since everything that does not deal with people was great. Communication and consistency dealing with this business ended up being awful. For a $3000 contract to serve 25 people between 1-4pm on a Saturday at the end of June, I would have said it was worth it up until their customer service ruined it through the planning process and conclusion of this event. We chose the bacon wrapped scallops, Swedish meatballs, and lumpia.Everything tasted really good and not a bad quantity for the price. For the main course we chose chicken, seafood pasta, and the prime rib.Dinner rolls were hard and salad was a bit soggy.Potatoes and vegetables also served was nicely cooked and seasoned. Chicken and seafood pasta was really tasty, and the prime rib was not awful, but served mostly rare with the option to be cooked more, but still was difficult for some to enjoy. The carver who served provided exceptional customer service. While the desserts were amazing the portions were very tiny and small for the price we paid. We chose key lime pie, carrot cake, and chocolate eclair. Again, for the most part everything was delicious but portions were very small for the desserts (for the amount charged). We had leftovers and I did have to ask for leftovers to be packed as I paid for all of this. The only thing they did not pack was the prime rib because evidently only a certain amount was allowed to be given which was never discussed. The carver told me he would box it up for us and another employee states this "rule" of how they can't box it up. I had to take a lot of initiative in planning this event. After taking my deposit, I am not sure if anyone would have ever reached out to me if I was not proactive.Dealing with the employees after this continued to go downhill. They tried to switch up the contract on me and tell me I did not choose a package when I did. They want to ensure they nickel and dime you for anything possible. On the day of the event,I was approached by a woman telling me we had to be out of the reserved room by 4pm.When we paid 1-4pm. When asking for clarification if we needed to be out by 4pm it was like pulling teeth. This woman could not have irritated you anymore because of her lack to communicate and clarify what she was saying. Her approach and demeanor was awful. Eventually, after asking her if we need to be out by 4pm even though we paid up until 4pm, she eventually let us know that if we are a minute over 4pm leaving that it is not a big deal. Her point we think she was trying to make is that they may seat additional customers upstairs, outside of the room we reserved (which is understandable). However, as a paying customer as well, paying $3,009 for 3 hours, this woman was more concerned about potential customers, the summer season, flipping the room once we depart or I should say before we can barely leave, and ensuring she can have business she's clearly desperate for. The most disheartening part is that this was the owner! The owner who never introduced herself to me, never welcomed me, never thanked me for my business. She was purely fixated on greed and being rude. This is prior to the event starting. The servers are very young and many of the guests had to take initiative to tell the employees how to do their job.Wes was the only decent one who came close to providing any good customer service. I feel very sorry for this place and the owners. From the beginning I never wanted to reserve with this place and got the sense of greed from this business. However, I decided I could bless this business despite their lack of customer service. While the food and atmosphere was great, I give this place one star and do not recommend anyone hosting their event here. I was already asked by two guests what I paid to reserve the room, and I informed them that I did not recommend this place and is not worth the headache despite everyone had a good time on the surface. If you don't care about greedy people, hospitality being non existent, and being overcharged and also being made to feel like your the problem on the day of the event, come here by all means. Perfect place to get upset and feel like you wasted your money to a very underserving business! Please be advised this business is not ADA accessible. Handicap people will never make it up their stairs. And sadly, workers have to travel up and down the stairs with food and more. There is no elevator. No freight elevator. Just a lot of violations, risk management issues, liability issues, and greedy, ungrateful owners right here at a place near you!

Yelp
Since my SO was craving seafood dinner, we decided to go to Rockafeller's Restaurant. We've never been here before, but we only know of the place due to some of our company functions that were done here. Ambiance: The restaurant was beautiful, and the view was stunning. I wish we had come here during the daytime, but we still enjoyed the view during nighttime. Food: Oysters were good. I never liked raw or fried oysters, but this was the first time I had baked them, and I enjoyed them. The Calamari and Fried Shrimp tasted like Old Bay seasoning. It's flavorful, but there's nothing special to it. The coleslaw was too watery, and the green beans were overcooked. Service: The server was very attentive, and she refilled our drinks plenty of times throughout our meal. Price: The price was pretty reasonable. The view and the oysters were our favorite parts of the meal. We regret not getting a dozen oysters, but we'll ensure we'll get more next time, and we'll definitely be back for more oysters.

Yelp
Would recommend making reservations! Great drinks, good food, quick service! Got the hot crab dip and shrimp hush puppies to start! Main entree was the gnocchi di mare! Very tasty, just wish there would have been more shrimp! Delicious desserts! Overall good experience!

Yelp
On a November Saturday afternoon, we tried this restaurant for a late lunch. As it is away from the tourist area, access is best achieved by driving to it. We ordered the shrimp hush puppies which has two small shrimp in each of eight large hush puppies. This appetizer could early be a meal as we only ate half the order while waiting on our entrees. The fish sandwich had one of the lightest batters I have found anywhere in Virginia. The accompanying homemade wafer chips were also light. The rack of ribs were also a tasty dish. Lunch portions can be ordered all day. All and all, a great find that is off the beaten path.

Yelp
Wow what a great place to enjoy and elevated dining experience. The restaurant is beautiful with some very nice touches perfect for a photo op. Menu has exactly what you're looking for when dining literally in a marina. Everything was fresh, delicious, and great portions. Host was friendly and our server had great recommendations and was very well versed with the offerings. Book a reservation for a seamless experience and definitely try out some of their cocktails. 10/10 will be back!

Yelp
The food was AMAZING!!! Service was prompt and the view was beautiful. Most tables were by the windows and you can see out into the bay and the docked ships.

Yelp
Very good eats with a scenic view. We had an 11:30am reservation but got there really early. (There is ample free parking onsite, at the beginning of the day). They open at 11am and they had no problem seating the three of us. We were seated right away, and took advantage of their brunch menu. We were also provided complimentary cornbread to start. Bonus: they have $3 mimosas, Bloody Marys, and screwdrivers at brunch. We had Bloodies and they were good taste for the price. We got the shrimp and crab hush puppies which were delicious with their pimento remoulade. For entrees we Got the seafood omelet (very tasty), and mushroom omelet (good but maybe would be better with a protein like bacon?). Little dude got the kids' French toast and it was covered in crispy corn flakes. Yummy! Beautiful scenery, spacious area, and attentive service. Will be back for more.

Yelp
*my reviews are always based on my expectation of that type of business - I don't rate carnival fries 1-star for tasting like they came from a carnival* Rockafeller's is a dockside consumer-priced restaurant. We've been there 3 times over 2 years and they have menu regulars and catch-of-the-day specials. We have sampled half the menu so far and everything has always been fresh and consistent. Most important, the service was amazing. The valet was quick. The manager ran to hold the door for us and offered us our choice seating area - indoor, outdoor, view, etc. Some of the wait staff were clearly new, but that only resulted in additional attentiveness from every one of them on the upper level. Price was reasonable and leftovers, even seafood was worth bringing back to the hotel. Every time we are in town, one meal will always be at Rockafeller's.

Yelp
The setting is pretty. Sitting outside over looking water and boats. Ordered the burger which was good however asked for mayo and then waited almost 10 minutes while sitting there with the food and had to ask someone else. Also brought food with no cutlery again had to wait. The fries with the burger were cold and dead. Order a tomato balsamic salad and received a very small cup of tomatoe cucumber swimming in Italian dressing not balsamic and it had no taste at all. Criminal to charge $5 Over all food was ok. Seems overpriced for value but I think you're paying more for the scenery

Yelp
My wife and I enjoyed one of the better meals we've had in recent memory at Rockafeller's this evening. Our server, Thomas, was particularly attentive which made the meal all the more enjoyable. After starting with Caesar salads we split our entrees of baby back ribs and Shrimp Mac n Cheese. Both tasted very good and were accompanied by a nice vegetable assortment. Desserts with chocolate mousse and key lime pie. We both agreed that while the pie was good the mousse was top notch. Thanks for an enjoyable meal!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! The she-crab soup, oysters rockafeller, and crab cakes were unparalleled! Asher was our server and could not have been more attentive or helpful. The knowledge of each dish was remarkable! Such a lovely evening for me and my hubby!

Yelp
Food is mediocre and over priced!! Servers ignores you and very racist!!! We made a reservation for 8 people but gave us a table with 7 chairs and want us to get the 8th chair by ourselves. And our server was making fun of us because she can't figure out why 8 of us are still standing with a table with seven chairs only. The oysters that they are bragging about is too salty, dry and unhealthy!!! This restaurant is a 1 or 2 star the most for its location/ambiance but nothing more. We are not expecting a fine dining experience but at least treat us a like any other customers. The mandatory 20% gratuity was too much for the kind of service and treatment that we experienced.

Yelp
So to start the view and the atmosphere right on the water was fantastic. The service was terrific. The ravioli was oh so delicious. I would order the steak temp less than you really want it cooked my friend and I both ordered the steak and ravioli 2 different temps and both were over cooked. Mine med rare which was more med and hers med well which was definitely well done. Other than the steak temp the food and the service were top notch.

Yelp
Cute waterfront restaurant... really nice views and good service but IMO overpriced for what you get. Portions were small.. I got the seafood trio for $40 which was good but I was still hungry afterwards. I'd rate as three stars but the others in my family seemed to be satisfied with their portions so maybe it was just mine.

Yelp
We went on a Saturday at 12:30 with a reservation. Great food. Place was not busy at all. Very cute "coastal cottage" decor.

Yelp
Love to come here for vacation but wasn't the same this year for me. The place is near the boats so it's a different ambiance. NY steak was good but wasn't impressed like always this year. Family members did enjoy their ribeyes. Hot crab dip and calamari was great! Service was excellent and very helpful.

Yelp
After attending the she crab soup festival this year, I knew I had to come here. It didn't disappoint. Had a delicious dirty martini special along with the some oysters rock.

Yelp
Came here with my coworkers, we got seated really quickly since we were the only ones there. Everyone was super nice, I ordered a bistro steak and lobster ravioli and half oysters. it was really delicious, no regrets on what I ordered. The Rockefeller oysters were okay, I had better but that wasn't all I ate. What I ordered was good.

Yelp
The food was really good and the view was different than the boardwalk area. You get to see a different part of the ocean life at Virginia Beach.

Yelp
Both of the hosts at the Airbnb where we're staying recommended this place and we were very happy with our experience! While waiting for our table, we saw Richard Petty as he was leaving the restaurant!! Hubby started with a Homemade Caesar Salad while I had a delicious cup of She Crab Soup. For our entrees we enjoyed Rock's Bayou Seafood Pasta and Rockafeller's Trio with seasonal vegetables. The portions were generous and delicious, and we had no room left for dessert! We will definitely come back whenever we are in the area.

Yelp
Food was OK! The kids meal chicken tenders and fries were surprisingly good!!! The calamari was VERY bland. There seemed to be ZERO seasoning on them. The breading was very soft ( almost as if they were leftovers that were heated in the microwave. The Mahi was cooked to perfection but was WAY over seasoned. The fried shrimp was also bland without seasoning! She crab soup was fantastic. Over all I'm disappointed. There are plenty of other seafood restaurants to choose from.
