"Rockbird is a new entrant to the city’s chicken canon, specializing in grilled Lebanese game hens. The Skaf brothers opened Rockbird with chef Javier Crespo in August 2017 to deliver a comforting neighborhood standby. The airy, glass-fronted space features stylish design elements such as brick and white walls, hexagonal tiles, a reclaimed wood counter, open kitchen, and orange stools at high-top tables. Rockbird's menu includes Cornish game hens that are simply brined and grilled, as well as a variety of flavorful sides and fried chicken sandwiches." - Joshua Lurie

Take all your classic burger flavors (Western, Spicy etc) but instead of a beef patty, you have a hunk of fried chicken breast! That’s the menu at Rockbird. I had the tenders w their BBQ sauce and also the tangy slaw and house seasoned fries. Everything was good! The chicken tenders were three BIG pieces, all juicy and not at all dry. Perhaps a bit too salty but that’s just me. I’d have to split a sandwich bc these are likely to be massive judging by the tenders. While there is only a counter inside, they set up four picnic tables w umbrellas outside off the sidewalk for more seating. Definitely recommend.

Fast service and really good chicken sandwiches!! Can’t get better than that!!

Google
Solid chicken sandwich and quick service! We tried the Baja with a side of pickles and ranch and were very impressed by the overall flavor and quality! Can’t wait to come back and try more!

Fried Nitro Bird Sandwich with Mac & cheese, 3 strips with Chipotle & Garlic aoli & Cheese fries & Dr pepper to wash it all down. The burger was so delicious! They have a nice chunky piece of meat, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Good flavor with the sauce and other stuff they add inside. Mac and cheese was cooked well and had good texture just wish it was a little bit more salty. The strips were delicious too, cook really nice crispy on the outside juicy inside and the chipotle sauce was really good. The garlic aioli was okay, not a huge fan. I wasn't able to eat there but I know if I did it would have tasted that much better because it was cold by the time I got to eat it. Cute little place in a small Plaza with some parking, you can also park on the street. They do have some seating available outside

Google
Best chicken sandwiches around hands down. Not only are they huge but the flavors are amazing with every ingredient they use. Popeyes doesn't have anything on this place. Definitely will be adding this restaurant to our monthly diet.

Google
If you’re looking for Flavor Town, look no further. Chicken was SUPER crunchy and well seasoned and sides were great as well. We will be back and recommend others visit. Clucking amazing and a real bang for the bock!

Google
Trash. It’s over priced and the food looks like it’s aesthetically pleasing but in reality it’s trash, was told by the cashier that they pursue flavor over spicy but I was mislead. Don’t be fooled by the good reviews. It’s whitewashed chicken. Next ! Also no parking whatsoever!!!! Paid $50+.

Google
Super yummy chicken sandwiches 💯🔥 The spice level is very balanced against the flavor palette. I recommend the Chipotle chicken as well as the Spicy Chicken sandwich. Staff was very courteous, attentive, and friendly. Definitely recommend 👌🏽

Yelp
So sad they shut down Glendale's Rockbird!!! I always got the grilled honeybird because the sauce is saucin!!! As for their sides I liked the Cali slaw and Brussel sprouts. I kind of wish the slaw was more vinegar based but I digress. As for their banana pudding was fresh and top three for me. Everything was delicious. Bring Rockbird back!!!

Vahig M.

Yelp
Expenses and I think it's shut down. I had a draft ready might as well leave a review. I guess the sandwiches were pretty good but honestly, they were a huge incredibly enormous. I definitely could've eat it and I'm a big eater. And if the sandwich wasn't cut properly, you will get fatty pieces in your mouth and I'm not a fan of that. Ultimately overpriced somewhat decent food But sadly, I think it's gone We will see what replacing it

Yelp
If you love fried chicken sandwiches, Rockbird is the place to go. They're located in a small lot so parking is shared with the businesses around. However, there is plenty of street parking. They offer a few chicken sandwich selections that you can get either grilled or fried as well as salads topped with chicken. They have a few stools inside but there are also benches on the outside that you can sit at. We of course ordered their burgers and chose the fried honey and the fried wok. The orders came out quickly and were piping hot! The honey was light and sweet and wasn't not overly saucy. As for the wok, the siracha Mayo added a nice hint of spice but wasn't too overly spicy. The burgers were served on a brioche bun which helped to hold the sandwich together. We also ordered their fries which came nicely seasoned with their house spices and were crisped. We ate everything on the plate! Definitely happy that we came upon this place and will come back to try their other sandwiches!

Yelp
RockBird has been solid take-out for us for the last few years. I typically order the honey bird ($9.99) or the western ($11.99) Both are tasty and just like their sandwiches, can be ordered fried or grilled. I go with fried. The honey comes with their house honey mustard & pickles with tomatoes. The chicken has always been moist and flavorful, never dry. I appreciate that as some chicken sandwiches can really disappoint when you finally bite into them and get a dry chicken. The honey mustard has a good kick and the pickles have a light brine but cut through the richness of the sandwich. The western bird has house bbq sauce, crispy fried onions, provolone, bacon & mayo. It is a flavor heavy chicken sandwich but is always a good choice. I get the western half the time and never disappoints. So good. The wok bird ($9.99) has sriracha mayo, slaw and a sweet chili glaze. It's also really good and I recommend it. Good flavor, moist chicken, tasty slaw and the brioche bread they use on all their sandwiches holds up well and tastes good. Service has always been friendly. They sell merch! Parking in their shared lot can be busy at times. Street parking is sparingly available.

Yelp
I was in the mood for chicken, so I decided to stop by Rockbird this past weekend. I ordered The Western chicken sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. The western was on point. It had all my favorite things on it; bacon, cheese, and onions and the portion size was generous. The mac and cheese, however, was average at best. I also had their house made lemonade which I enjoyed but was a little more on the tart side than I would have preferred. The staff was friendly and my order was out pretty quickly. They have indoor seating as well as a patio area if you'd like to eat outdoors. Overall, I had a good experience.

Yelp
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when I ordered from here. Normally I research a place before ordering food but today I was just too tired and I thought that the pictures looked good. So it was a case of hunger and laziness to order delivery from here. But let me say that with the first bite, I was pleasantly surprised!! The chicken was juicy and even though I got the sandwich without ranch, it was not dry. It was flavorful without being overly seasoned. I sometimes think that the fried chicken sandwiches are too seasoned. But that's just me. The only thing was that the breading on the check was soggy but it could be because I got delivery instead of eating there. So I can gauge the decor of the inside as I didn't visit there. I am looking forward to actually going here and eating and I hope that the chicken will be crispier. The sandwiches are ala carte. So instead of getting fries, I got their brussel sprouts. It was yummy! But I think the ones I make are better! Lol but for delivery it was good. So this was a great lunch for me. I also got a salad with chicken to eat for dinner and I am so glad that I did. The grilled chicken was delicious and juicy again. Their cilantro jalapeno dressing was to die for. I could've honestly just drank it. Lol I didn't get a picture of the salad as I was hungry and scarfed it down. I recommend this place if you like juicy chicken.

Yelp
Ok people. This place is gooood. Super chill spot with great service. I got the grilled chicken Caesar salad (spicy chicken). The serrano peppers added the proper amount of heat. The salad filled me up (6'2 -185lbs). Completely satisfied. If I didn't eat keto, I'd for sure get a sando but will definitely be back when I'm in town. Added the pickles as well. Legit. If you're reading this and don't stop for a bite, you're missing out big time.

Yelp
I was in town for a work conference and needed something delicious after a long day. I hopped on my favorite food app (Yelp) and found this gem. They were close to the hotel and luckily weren't packed so I was able to get in and out! The service was friendly & fast. They even threw some Mac and cheese in there. I enjoyed the decor and they had some cute merch. Everything was great but those Brussels sprouts we EVERYTHING I will definitely me back!

Kisha L.

Yelp
The fried chicken is very good here. The service is just ok. They have a female working the register that does not speak English well and it's hard to communicate/ understand her. The place is small with very limited seating. The menu needs more sides and other food items that are not fried. They have a very small parking lot which makes it hard to park.

Elaine L.

Yelp
Great price for the amount of chicken and sandwich that you get! Parking is easy but sparse since this is located in a small plaza. Came on a rainy day to try out the following: Mac N Cheese - This was just as cheesy as I imagined - I loved that it came with penne pasta Wok Bird - Name says it all, this was packed with juicy flavor with cheese added for more epicness. This is the most popular menu item. The Nitro - Labelled to be very spicy for those who love a kick. Overall, their sandwiches were very generous portions and chicken was juicier than I expected. The veggies balance our the protein and the sauces used were a great complement.

Yelp
I made it ton the last hour on National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day and I'm grateful that I celebrated by trying Rockbird. Right when I entered, I was immediately greeted with a smile from a cheerful crew member. I admit that I didn't get a chance to do research on their menu and their popular dishes, so I chose what was familiar to me: the Western and the fried brussels sprouts. The Western was a solid sandwich: tangy BBQ sauce, thin lightly battered onion rings and a season crispy seasoned chicken breast. I loved it! I took it to go but I had to eat half of it in the car. The brussels sprouts was delicious with the honey and balsamic vinegar dressing. I never knew about Rockbird because I am rarely in Glendale, but I am happy to be able to get out of my neighborhood to try something new to me. Can't wait to come back and bring friends and family/

Yelp
Rockbird employees truly care about food quality and guest experience. I've been twice now once for takeout and my second visit was for dine-in. In both instances, the counter staff was very patient with me while ordering. The chicken sandwich they curate is almost more gourmet than one you would find at say.. Dave's Hot Chicken down the street. I've had the brussel sprouts and mac & cheese and have no complaints. Will be back again soon!

Cynthia P.

Yelp
Best seasoned fries around! Also love the Stubborn soda fountain selection. The sodas contain no high fructose syrup and are natural. I really like the black Cherry flavor. Small parking lot available and is located across the street from Valvoline.

Yelp
Again came to show some out of town guests what an amazing chicken sandwich Rockbird puts out and they do not hesitate to come out on top! We were headed to the beach and so we decided to stop by our local Rockbird restaurant and grab some lunch for a beach picnic with our guests. They so delivered by helping us out with exceptional customer service and coordinating our order to make it better for our picnic - Utensils, side items, napkins, etc! They were so attentive and helpful I can't help to Yelp about it!! We all ordered the Wok and we all loved them! I will have to say that if you can to eat the minute it comes out because man wow what a sandwich!!! I love this place and keep and will keep bringing more friends and family to share the deliciousness and service that only Rockbird can deliver! Thank you!!! I highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
I came in around 8pm and told them it was my first time. The staff here are very friendly and said that the one they always recommend first timers are the Wok Bird, it's a spicy chili fried chicken sandwich with some slaw, it's definitely was the winning choice. Ordered: Fries: Very nice and crispy, salted just right and had really good texture. Wok Bird: As mentioned before this was definitely the go-to sandwich. The sweetness in the sweet chili sauce (reminds me of the Thai sweet chili sauce, very likely inspired by it), the crunchiness from both the slaw and the fried chicken were definitely the winning ticket. The Honey: My partner and I both agreed this was simply okay. Perhaps because we chose to have it with pickles on the side, it didn't have much going for it. Honey mustard is great and all but with a slice of tomato, the fried chicken, and then the sandwich it really hit the spot. The house pickles were on the sweeter and muted side, rather than tangy, which was actually kind of nice had we eaten with the sandwich. Fried Brussel Sprouts: Yum! Fried to crispy perfection and then tossed in a sweet vinaigrette. Who doesn't love mini cabbages!? This was definitely my favorite side. Overall great service, great food, and will definitely be coming back. Thank you to the staff that was working tonight! Y'all were wonderful!

Alexis G.

Yelp
The fried chicken sandwich was delicious, I upgraded it to the spicy one which was a perfect heat, and it made it so juicy with the sauce! It was crispy, not even soggy with having it delivered. As for the fries, I'm sure they would be better right away but they were a solid 2/5.

Rachel B.

Yelp
Had a phenomenal chicken sandwich here! Got the fried wok bird and it was a good balance of spice, crunchy fried chicken, and coleslaw. Every bite was delicious and flavorful, and I still think about it some days. The service was also great, we sat outside and a staff member came out to ask us how we were liking it. Definitely will be back!

Maggie S.

Yelp
We frequently order from here and our most recent order included a lack of actual chicken. Literally it was tiny pieces of chicken scraps from the end of their day (both sandwiches). Very disappointed as this was one of our favorite spots.

Shelley D.

Yelp
This place is so good. I first heard of them through a yelp elite event, though I was not able to go. I love all of their sandwiches and really enjoy their brussels sprouts. I really enjoy any of their grilled chicken sandwiches, and sometimes when I'm feeling bold, I'll get one of the spicy chicken sandwiches and they are spicy! Really great place for a chicken sandwich.

Sarin P.

Yelp
I was super excited to come back to ROCKBIRD after attending a Yelp event here. Their menu is evolving and it is exciting to be able to experience it. Unfortunately, they currently are not serving wings given the inflated price point. Such a bummer! But, do not fear, there is plenty of chicken goodness to satisfy your cravings. Last time, I indulged in one of their signature sandwiches and was blown away by the freshness and quality of the chicken. I opted for chicken tenders this time. The order is served with 3 pieces and 2 dipping sauces. You can choose from spicy or original, or mix and match. I want to point out that the prices here are very reasonable considering the chicken sandwich game is hot right now. The quality honestly speaks for itself. There are plenty of sides to curate your own dinner. I added the Kale Tabouleh, Brussel Sprouts, and a side order for fries to seal the deal. I loved the Tabouleh, the perfect amount of crunch from the kale and lemon from the dressing. This meal is easily split between 2 people with enough leftovers. Also, do not pass up on their Hibiscus drink. It is so good! Super cool merch in the store too for about $25 a t-shirt. Love supporting a business that makes you feel like family as soon as you step into the shop! Excited to watch this place grow.

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Came on a rainy Tuesday at 7 for dinner. There was no line at all. There are 7 bar style tables for people to sit at. With sandwiches starting at 9.99 this place seems pretty affordable. I got the Baja sandwich and the fries. The fries are seasoned with their house spice mix and looks absolutely delicious. Fries were super crispy and seems like they are battered with something. Sandwich chicken was crispy and freshly fried too. The pairing of the sauce goes so well with the fried chicken. There's like 12 parking spots outside for the plaza. Overall outstanding comfort fast food. Would r commend!

Adam K.

Yelp
I came to try this place on a recommendation of a friend, and that friend also came with me to try it out as well. It was a terrific experience that left us wanting to come back again to try the rest of their chicken sandwiches! Since it was me and my friend's first time here, we didn't know what to expect. The super kind owner happened to ask if it was our first time, told us a little bit about each sandwich, and even gave both of us free soft drinks for our first visit!! That hospitality a great impression with me, but the food also left a strong impression with me as well! There's many different unique sandwiches and delectable sides to go with each sandwich to choose from. It's definitely a lot more variety than what I see at many other chicken sandwich shops! I ordered The Baja sandwich with grilled chicken, and a Mac n Cheezy side as well. The crisp, cool slaw was the absolute perfect balance against the tangy, spicy chipotle sauce that covered the juicy chicken patty. The toasted bun held up very well with everything that was going on between it! The mac and cheese with its gooey rich 3(!) cheese sauce was B O M B. Every heavenly bite was bursting with cheesy goodness! I'd order two of this in a heartbeat next time, because it was just that good!! I would've never expected such good mac and cheese from chicken sandwich shop, but here we are and I'm all for it! Call me a believer, because I'm a convert of this place (along with my friend) and we'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF 04/28/2024. Attempted to go in yesterday at 2pm but a worker said the location was now permanently closed. He was taking equipment and supplies out of the restaurant and putting them in a white van. Don't waste your time going for nothing like we did.

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
This spot was recommended by a friend/ co-worker and I tried their Cali-slaw. OMG I am not a slaw person but this was delicious with the rice wine vinegar. My 2nd visit, I got a zesty Cesar salad. Jack took my order, was patient, and recommended the salad. The chicken was tender and juicy. I loved that he asked if I wanted grilled or fried chicken. I'd come back for the great service alone! I can't wait to come back and try their delicious sandwiches. I'm so excited to hear they are opening another location in Echo Park

Kitty G.

Yelp
Pros: -Got there at 1pm on a Sunday and were the only ones there. Parking right outside the door. Food came within 10 mins -staff was very helpful with describing heat levels. I decided to try The Heater. At first I was worried it would be too hot, but the worker told me it was comparable to Frank's Red Hot without the lingering heat from the vinegar. -I chose the perfect sandwich. It was hot, but not so hot where you can't taste the other flavors. The perfect spicy IMO. The chicken shape was nice and full- it covered the surface of the bun as opposed to those sausage-shaped cutlets. Coleslaw and bun were good too. -The fries tasted like a healthier version of beer batter. I didn't hate myself after eating them. And the seasoning was great! - seating options! A counter indoors and picnic tables outside. -Free water is available!! So many places charge you $2 now -purse hooks!!! Potential Cons: -You don't get to choose your heat level, it's assigned to every sandwich. That's not a con unless you had certain expectations/ intentions with pursuing hot chicken - Small parking lot may be problematic during busier times -No options for combos. Got to order sides and drinks separately -Tipping prompt starts at 22% ??

Gc W.

Yelp
I'm a fan of their chicken tenders and their chicken Caesar salad. That salad is amazing and I've not found anyone else who makes it the same way. The Brussels sprouts are good too!

Dan K.

Yelp
There are plenty of choices when it comes to chicken sandwiches these days but I find that a lot of them rely on the heat and forget about the flavor. Rockbird doesn't have that problem. They serve a nice spicy (vinegar based) chicken sandwich that doesn't skimp on the flavor. I ordered the Fried Nitro Bird (habanero buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, spicy slay and tomatoes) with a side of fried brussels sprouts. The balance between the heat of the habanero sauce and the ranch was the best of both worlds - flavor + heat = perfect chicken sandwich. Brussels sprouts were served with red onions and a honey balsamic glaze - minor complaint (very minor) but it needed to be served a bit hotter (temp. not spice level). Other than that they were delicious. As others have pointed out - yes they do have healthier, non-fried sandwiches, kale tabbouli and the like, which I'm sure are delicious but with apologies to my capillaries, I'm eating fried chicken!

Felipe G.

Yelp
I have had this place on my "to visit" list for months. My girlfriend and I were craving chicken sandwiches this past weekend and after standing in line at Howlin Rays for 30 mins and only taking a few steps forward, we decided to check out other options. So glad ROCKBIRD was the first spot that came up on my Yelp when I started looking. After a short drive from Pasadena we pulled up. Walking in, the vibe was chill. Loved all the branding through the restaurant. The place was clean and had good music pumping through the speakers. Huge plus. The guy behind the counter was nice. He shared some of his favorites with us which turned out to be excellent. Our food came out quick. Came out fresh. Did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back to check out more of the menu.

Rocio C.

Yelp
5 stars, kids and husband loved it! Chicken was delicious and juicy, the bread was good, fries were also good, I didn't like their inconsistent portion but it was all good. Customer service was great, they had a new employee who almost forgot half of the order but they super cool, gave us extra sauce so we were all cool. The inside looks great and clean, very small but they do have done sitting with awesome music.

Eva Z.

Yelp
Just go to Main Chick, cuz they would never do this: Ordered the Fried Farm Bird. What I got was a single tender instead of a full sandwich fillet that tasted like it was old and reheated by throwing it in some oil again because the outside was super hard. The inside was tough and unseasoned. The bun was stale and I was initially glad the cheese wasn't melted and just a cold slice because it was easier to remove that way. The "spicy" add-on was just weird smelling flavorless chili oil. The fries were hot and cooked perfectly, but alas tasteless as well. Couldn't finish it and just placed an order to Main Chick cuz i was still hungry.

Kat K.

Yelp
Chicken was thick, crunchy and delicious! 4 stars because the chipotle is not chipotle. Sorry guys but it tasted nothing like adobo peppers, which is what chipotle sauce is made of. It was way too sweet, almost like a glaze. i'll be back to try another soon.

Inde W.

Yelp
Super duper yummy place in the heart of Glendale. I went to get a quick lunch with a friend and we went for chicken sandwich, the combination of purple cabbage N the chipotle sauce along with the grilled chicken patty blended so elegantly, each spice melted perfectly together to release the most amazing flavor blast you can get. SO fresh & SO good. Very surprised this place is not more packed during lunch!

Rebecca D.

Yelp
I was here for a Yelp event and got some tenders to go for hubby. I was wondering why they were more $ than a sandwich until I got home and opened the box. There were three and they were way huge. I had one and the crust is among the best I had ever had. Ty hey give you two sauces and the mayo sriracha sauce was also very tasty. Looking forward to buying some gift cards for the holidays. Nice servers too.

Karen T.

Yelp
So many fried chicken sandwich shops around LA... and ROCKBIRD is definitely one of the best. I was surprised that there were about 7 types of chicken sandwiches to choose from. The chicken can be either grilled or fried, but of course I'm going to choose fried. I decided to try the Fried Wok Bird and Fried Honey Bird. These were absolutely delicious. The chicken was big, tender, and juicy. The sauces and toppings worked perfectly together. For a side dish, you can never go wrong with fries. Cheese fries are even better. Also tried their cali-slaw and pesto penne pasta salad, which were both good. Instead of your typical sodas, they offer more unique and tastier fountain drinks like vanilla cream soda, root beer float, and some other drinks I can't remember the name of. Customer service was outstanding. The employee made sure that we were happy with our order and not waiting for too long. There are a few seats indoor, and more seating outdoor. A small parking lot is shared with other businesses. Street parking is also available. Found out that they are going to offer 30% off during the beginning of November to celebrate National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day. I guess I'll have to visit again next week!

Jacklyn D.

Yelp
The food was delicious!! You can taste the quality in the food. I will definitely be returning to try all the other sandwiches. The coleslaw they have has a tangy kick that binds all the flavors together.

Diane W.

Yelp
Y'all there are about 5 different chicken sandwich spots within a two mile radius of this place. With so many options, I went with Rockbird because of their extensive flavor options. No matter what you're craving, they've got a sandwich for you. For example, The Wok has Asian inspired flavor and Baja has Mexican inspired flavor. My fiancé ordered The Honey which has a mild flavor with honey mustard, tomato and lettuce. I ordered The Nitro which is reminiscent of a more transitional hot chicken sandwich with habanero buffalo sauce. Although the chicken doesn't have any spicy seasoning, the spicy spread on the bread packed some extra heat! We also got a side of fried Brussel sprouts and those were perfectly seasoned with generous amounts of garlic and onion. Be warned, the parking lot here is tight and the parking lot is very small it's best to order ahead and have someone go out to pick it up which the other person circles the block.

Sandy N.

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday and parking was a bit tough. The cashier didn't even smile or acknowledged us. Instead, he just stood there and stared. I ended up asking for his recommendations and ended up with the Wok and a side of Mac and cheese. As for my boyfriend, he got The Heater and Brussels sprouts. I decided to tip them and even with the tip, he didn't even say thank you... Our orders ended up taking 25 minutes to make. This made me question whether our orders were skipped since majority of the people who came after us got theirs before us. On top of that, when they handed it to us, we didn't even know which chicken was which but since I ordered Mac and cheese, I assumed that plate was mine. However, after taking that first bite and tasting that kick, I knew they switched our orders up. Sure it wasn't a big deal since I can tolerate my spice, but for someone who can't, it can be an issue. Now, the taste is there and I loved how crunchy it was but for the Heater, there was a lack of slaw. For the Wok, there was just too many Mayo. Another disappointment was finding a bag clip in it! The Mac and cheese tasted too cold and the Brussels sprouts weren't as crunchy as I would have hoped for. Overall, I wish I had a better experience but my experience here was not as great compared to everyone else.

Frank S.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday morning and I was surprised that it wasn't that busy. The restaurant is in a small plaza with a small parking lot. We got the wok and the heater and they were both exceptional and very tasty. The wok gives the sweetness while the heater provides some a little bit of spice. The fries were also crispy and tasty. They also have interior and exterior seating for people that want to eat there. Overall, a great chicken sandwich shop. Give it a try when you're in the area.

Ludwig M.

Yelp
Food was great and their chicken was juicy. I had their Baja and my wife had their honey chicken. We also had their salad with was just the right amount of spicy! I highly recommend a take out order.

Mark B.

Yelp
What was once a highly reliable culinary experience, moist and crispy tasty chicken every time has now become a roll of the dice. Three out of my last 5 visits, the chicken has changed. The crisp is no longer there and the moisture has left the building on this once revered chicken hot spot in Glendale. Ordered the chicken tenders and fries and no sooner did I dispense my soda, my order was ready. And therein lies the issue. We must assume this place is holding their pre-cooked chicken and fries, and unfortunately, its's zapping the moisture from the meat and transferring it to the no longer crispy coating. Keeping it a certain temperature is not the same as making it to order. Both chicken and fries seemed more like a science experiment than a fresh, crispy concoction that renders you speechless. Or at least drives you to Yelp to write a stellar review as I did 8 months ago. And for the record, I'd wait 5-7 minutes any day for a made to order, fresh, crispy, juicy chicken tender. That separates the proverbial boys from the men in today's food scene. While the staff remains consistently friendly, my fear is that they've become taste blind to what once had them at the top of their game. My recommendation for now is to stick with the sandwiches. Each doused with ingredients fighting for attention (like slaw, hot sauce, honey mustard and bacon), you will likely enjoy the overall presentation, as many have, and temporarily forget you actually ordered a fried chicken sandwich. But as someone who professes to be a fried chicken expert, unless something changes in their food prep, and I hope it does, I'd order cautiously and keep your expectations in check. I hope this place continues to have skin in the game and make the necessary adjustments for everyone loves a comeback story and I'd be happy to write it.

Yelp
ROCKBIRD is delicious!! Located in a central part of LA, ROCKBIRD was a convenient spot to stop for lunch! There was a small, shared parking lot and lots of free street parking for a couple hours. I walked in and was greeted twice - very friendly staff! I was recommended the Wok Sandwich and a side of Brussels sprouts! Both were incredible! It was also a bonus that this meal turned into two meals for me. You can get any sandwich with fried or grilled chicken too. There are also lots of fun sauces to chose from! I will be back for another sandwich soon!

Yelp
Fantastic first time experience. Ordered the Baja and Nitro. Both sandwiches were seasoned to perfection. Chicken was juicy and tender and surprisingly everything came out pretty quickly. (but place it wasn't busy but still). Baja has a Chipotle Sauce and a Cilantro Sauce and this combination really hit the spot for me. For the Nitro, you don't pick your spice level (but maybe you can ask when ordering?) but I'd say it was a good level of spice. If I were to guess it would be somewhere between mild to hot but leaning towards hot. With so many Fried Chicken Sandwich options nowadays, I was pleasantly surprised how good these were. I will definitely be craving these again and will be back! Also, the person who took my order was awesome, friendly and super helpful!

Yelp
Today was my first time eating at ROCKBIRD. I got the Fried Wok Bird sandwich which was okay, I should've gotten it spicy. (I thought it would've already been spicy from the sauce but it didn't come with much sauce on it) I also order the Mac and cheezy and I couldn't eat it. It looked nothing like other peoples photos and had none of the buttery panko crust. It was just covered in so much cheese sauce, it tasted like Kraft American cheese slices melted on it. My bf liked his Grilled Farm Bird sandwich and also his spicy tenders! I had a bite of the spicy tender and it was good!

Yelp
Lots of good reviews here so I had to give it a try. Chicken sandwiches can be fried or grilled but it was my obligation (to myself) to go with the fried chicken sandwich my first time out. I went with The Nitro - House Habanero Sauce, House Ranch, Spicy Slaw and fresh tomatoes. I asked for the sauces on the side so I can really taste the chicken. The breading on the chicken is light and not at all greasy. The slaw is not swimming in mayonnaise. This is a really good sandwich and the sauces are also very good. The Mac & Cheezy is nice but nothing extra special in my opinion. The House Pickles are sweet and good, but the Sandwich is where it's at! Rockbird is tiny little stop with just seven indoor chairs (and some patio seating outside). I actually missed it when driving by. The service was very friendly and helpful and for my first time, there was nothing not to like. A great lunch and a great chicken sandwich.

Yelp
Ok wow, the Heater is SO good! The chicken is nice and crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I also thought it was a bit hotter than other hot chicken sandwiches but no complaints here! I absolutely loved it and actually would return for this same exact sandwich! I opted for a side of Mac n cheese, which was surprisingly made with penne pasta. I thought it was still tasty but probably would opt for fries next time. I saw them packing some fries for another customer and they looked really good!! Parking is a tiny lot shared with a few other businesses. I was able to snag the last spot on a Wednesday at 11. They have some benches for outdoor dining on the side of their shop. All in all, I'd go again the next time I'm in Glendale. So good!

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't shared my love for Rockbird here! Rockbird is a must try restaurant if you're dining in Glendale. They have multiple different types of chicken sandwiches with your choice of fried or grilled, amazing sides (my personal favorite being the Brussel sprouts), and they now even carry dessert which is their special banana pudding! Not only is the food amazing here, but they've got love for their community. I always see on their IG on how they're collaborating with the local high school on fundraisers -- I love that! My personal fave sandwich that I had here is the fried nitro bird sandwich -- it's fitting considering I'm a former Glendale high schooler myself (Go nitros)! Next time you're in Glendale and you're craving a chicken sandwich, come to Rockbird. P.S. they're opening new locations around LA too, so keep an eye out for that!

Yelp
Tried The Baja on national chicken day. The Baja had a spicy kick to it, their spicy sauce is actually pretty spicy but in a good way. In addition it had bbq sauce nestled in between two sweet brioche buns. The chicken itself lost its crispiness from all the sauces but it was still good. The prices were good compared to the portion sizes. The sandwhich itself was big and filling. Their fries were the normal seasoned fries you are used to. The restaurant is not really a sit-down place, I saw a few people come in to pick up their food and leave quickly and no one was sitting inside. Good for a quick meal. Food was prepared and ready very quickly after ordering.
