Stopped in here after a meal at Delaney's to see what this place was about. This place is very spacious and clean, the theming was done well also, but for the number of vehicles in the lot, it was eerily empty.
Breweries usually have a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, but not this place. Usually if you're not recognized the bartender will ask a few open-ended questions... "First time here?", "Where are you from?", "Just visiting Spartanburg or are you new to the area?". What usually follows is what do you drink at home? Pilsners, IPAs, Lagers?". None of that here.
The tap list usually covers two monitors over the taps, or near them, but today there was a game on one, so we had to wait for the wines and mixed drinks to "roll over" to see and read the tap list.
Well, it took a few revolutions for the beer list to show up to figure out what sounded good. All the while the bartender kept asking us "Do you know what you want?", and seemed to be a little "concerned" we couldn't figure it out or why, even when I explained waiting for the beer list to show up (again).
My wife ordered one of their signature drinks and was told the mixers needed to make it weren't in stock. So, she ended up with a week vodka and cranberry. My guess was she used the recipe for the signature drink and didn't add in the appropriate measure of vodka to make up the difference.
My beer of choice from the tap menu on the monitor had to be poured from some other location in the brewery which seemed to "bother" the bartender as well. The beers I sampled, and the one I ordered were just okay - not enough to take me back to this place.
Another thing I noticed was nobody was smiling, not a good sign for a "happy place" to visit. And very telling about the owners of the pub who appeared to be sitting at the other, far end, of the bar.
When we left after our first and only drink, I noticed the parking lot had many more vehicles in it. I read the sign at the front of my parking spot and realized the lot was shared with other venues - but nobody else came in while we were there. Another clue others were visiting one of the other venues instead of Rockers listed on the parking spot sign.
Maybe stop in during a more peak time where other servers/bartenders are working and your experience will be more favorable. Rockers won't be in our 2024 Spartanburg rotation - but we may stop in at the other venues listed on the parking spot sign.
