"The founders of this neighborhood brewery credit James Beard Foundation Award-winning beer maker Dogfish Head with opening their eyes to the wonderful world of local brewing. Their catalog is not quite as deep as Sam Calagione’s (yet), but Rocket Frog holds its own with coffee-spiked brown ales, hoppy IPAs, and funky sours." - Eater Staff

Really cool brewery with some outdoor seating area and plenty of parking! Not too much seating inside but it is pet friendly inside and out which I loved. Friendly staff and good selection of beers. We got a flight of 4: 1. Hard Seltzer: Blood Orange - really light and not as carbonated as most seltzer but a good hint of blood Orange that just overpowering. Easy to drink and refreshing. 2. Rhinewasser - My favorite out of the 4. Super light and refreshing with a great flavor. One of my favorite Kölsch that I've had so far. 3. Kai Gose to Hawaii - pretty tasty and not overly sour. It is similar to a sour mimosa but it's a good sour starter if you're trying to expand you're beer preferences. 4. Barrel Aged Shame & Torment - 2020 - the smell definitely exhibits a barrel aged beer and itbwas surprisingly not over powering in the taste. Slightly sweet but very good overrall. They sell some salsa, queso and chips as well. I would definitely come back and visit!

My now wife went on her bachelorette party a few weeks ago. Rather than just hangout at home all weekend, I took my mother brewery hopping in Sterling. I belong to a DMV beer group and they rave about Rocket Frog. Had to check out the hype for myself. They live up to the hype and then some.

Google
Great beers and friendly staff. This is my go to brewery. They always got events and usually have a good food truck on the weekend. Also, it seems more chill than most other breweries I have gone to. Plus they got fun events all week like trivia. Worth checking out and getting some delicious beers!

Google
Best beers in town! They know their stuff and everything is spot on. Ramaan the barkeep will steer you in the right direction if you are unsure of what to get. This is one of 3 breweries we hit up and it was the only one that you can tell had knowledge of their beer and genuinely put love into their product. If you are in the area this is the spot to go. A welcoming true craft beer experience. Cheers!

Google
Happy Father’s Day! Such a fun place. Got a little lost heading into the industrial park, but happy to find it. Games. Very kid friendly. We played cards and chilled. We will be back.

Came here since I was in the area at another brewery and I'm so glad I did. As soon as I walked in a staff member greeted me and took my order. The interior is small but open enough with a bar and seating at bar hight tables (with board games available). While there I had the pleasure of meeting co-owner Richard who was incredibly friendly and talked with me at length about the founding and future of the brewery. While my time here wasn't long I'm already adding this to my list of places to visit again!

Google
This place has some pretty great brews. I stopped in for a beer, and really enjoyed the beer I tried. I also tasted a few and brought some home. The space is pretty small, and they are limited by COVID restrictions, but there is an outdoor seating area of the weather is any good. They actually have dividers at the tables, and they have placed the tables a social distance apart. Also, I spoke to the bartender, and he explained that the entire staff has been vaccinated. So, their virus posture is pretty good. This is a nice, safe space with good beers. I highly recommend checking them out.

Google
What's good? Their Angry, Angry Imperial IPA was good for me, a guy that usually doesn't like IPAs. I'm more of a Lager guy. Their Rhinewasser Kolsh and the Helleanor Helles were good for a warm day. The service was good. The space is small compared to other breweries in Northern Virginia but they have 2 TVs to watch sports. It may be good for a grab-and-go.

Yelp
Finally made it here!!! My visit was two fold, one I have had Rocket Frog on my "to visit" list. Secondly, they were also one of the locations listed that were participating in the Black is Beautiful beer collab with Weathered Souls with proceeds being donated to a local organization that supports equality and inclusion. I was able to place my order for pick up online from their website and the biermi app. Once I arrived the gentleman who assisted me was great! Although my order had not been pulled, after tending to the guests who came in ahead of me, he went ahead and got my order ready and I was on my way in no time. While I did not stay, this was a pick up only, the selection here is vast and would be a good place to come enjoy a flight or two of beer. At the time of my visit (Septemberish) they had indoor and outdoor seating. Looking forward to coming back!

Yelp
Stopped by this brewery for the first time. They were pretty close to closing but enough time to sample a couple of things. The guy manning the bar was very friendly and it turns out that he's been part of the brewing operation this past year. I sampled an IPA, sounding rocket, and the barley wine. Barley wine came in a small snifter and was a great example of a barley wine. The IPA was a new england style, hazy and juicy. Add rocket frog to the list of local breweries making decent brews.

Matthew F.

Yelp
Smallish place but the service is friendly. I came in on a slow day to try a flight. The menu was extensive but I only tried 4, skipping most of the IPAs. But I still picked 2 of their 4 flagship beers (the hellanor and golden word). Best buddy: nitro stout. Smooth, earthy. Slight coffee notes Small business: lighter, brighter, more coffee forward, with some chocolate notes Hellanor: light hops and malt. Helles style Golden word: Belgium tripple. Not fruity at all

Katie A.

Yelp
Still in the beer quest. They had a lovely imperial stout, which I liked because it did not have a lot of coffee notes to it. It was a weekday, so it was pretty quiet. There was one other couple in here, and for the most part the bartender paid a fair amount of attention. He did go off to make some phone calls a few times.

Victor H.

Yelp
This is a smaller brewery compared to its not so far neighbor Crooked Run. Nonetheless it's a brewery in Loudoun competing with other local breweries in adding to the beer scene in Northern Virginia. The more, the merrier! Wallops Island Brown Ale is an amazing Brown ale for the flavor and alcohol content. Reminds me of New Castle but more smooth yet less sweet. Can't have too much sugar, alcohol is better right!? This place is where I'll go for either a warmup or cool down when going out. I can't wait to see how they'll evolve when more people get word of this spot!

Mo C.

Yelp
Great IPAs. I really enjoyed the Angry Angry Alice. Nice little taproom. And walking distance to Crooked Run if you want to make your brewery experience a double-header. They have a great story about how they ended up naming their brewery "Rocket Frog". Check out the huge photo behind the bar and ask your beertender about the brewery name.

Liz H.

Yelp
I read that this place is closing and visited for the first time today. It's a shame that they are leaving; the beer is excellent--we liked everything. Staff was very friendly, too. I hope the owners can find another space. If you have a chance to visit before they close next week, I urge you to do so.

Mark N.

Yelp
Ok, I know what you're thinking. Does Northern Virginia really need another brewery? Need is a loaded term. We can live without this, but Rocket Frog will make life better. Rocket Frog recently opened and my wife and I dropped in to do a tasting flight. Started with the Angry Alice IPA (7% ABV 65 IBU) this is a light/pale golden IPA. Very crisp and clean with Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe hops. I consider this a great hot summer porch beer. We then had the Angry, Angry Alice IPA, which is an Imperial / Double of the aforementioned IPA. At 8.4% ABV it's not exactly high octane and while good, we couldn't really taste meaningful differences from the first Angry Alice. The we tried the Cosmic Trails IPA (6.5% ABV 63 IBU). This is more cloudy/yellow straw colored. The Citra hops bring the fruit bombs, but it's not too bitter. Finally we finished out with the Wallops Island Brown Ale (5% ABV 23 IBU). This was the stand out winner. Many local breweries skip over a brown ale option or when they do it they produce an overly sweet beer. This beer had great malty toast/caramel notes, but was well balanced with Pacific Northwest hops to have a dry finish rather than residual sweetness. We walked away with a growler fill of this offering. Tasting room is rather non-descript. Basically a typical industrial office park brewery set up. Good service. Plenty of parking. Located near the Sterling version of Crooked Run, if you want a quick brewery one-two punch. Bottom line: really solid initial offerings from this new brewery. Good location if you live or are doing business in and around Dulles. Looking forward to watching (tasting) how these guys develop.

Yelp
We visited Rocket Frog Brewing Co. during it's Grand Opening Saturday. It's set in an office park building. When we entered - early on a Saturday afternoon - it was packed! My craft brewing expedition partner went to the bar to order two complete tasting flights for us - while I managed to secure a spot for us to sit - and then I ferried the tasters over to the table in several trips. There were 8 ales to taste - so 16 glasses total! Across the board, the ales were delicious! Well crafted and well executed! We tasted: Minotaur V Blonde Ale (4.5% ABV) (rated 4 stars on Untappd) Angry Alice IPA (7.0% ABV) (rated 4 stars on Untappd) Wallops Island Brown Ale (5.0% ABV) (rated 3.5 stars on Untappd) Angry, Angry Alice DIPA (8.4% ABV) (rated 4 stars on Untappd) Wallops Island w/Coffee Brown Ale (rated 3.75 stars on Untappd) Croak at the Moon Saison (6.0% ABV) (rated 3.75 stars on Untappd) Croak at the Moon Saison w/Raspberries (6.0% ABV) (rated 4 stars on Untappd) Croak at the Moon Saison w/Peaches (6.0% ABV) (rated 4 stars on Untappd) They are using an Untappd check in system. So if you are logging your beers in the Untappd app - you will see your beer check ins appear up on the big flat screen HD TV behind the bar. We were very impressed with the product. The seating area inside is not spacious - so that would be the one potential issue with this craft brewery - when they are busy. We really liked their ales and we will be back! #RocketFrogBrewingCompany

Yelp
Selection of beers isnt great, everything we tasted on our flight was mediocre to bad. Disappointing is the word I'd describe this business with.

Amy C.

Yelp
They have a range of delicious Belgians. It's not common to run into a brewery with my preferred style of beer. Dan did like his IPA. It is geographical trivia night.

Melissa E.

Yelp
They had a pretty consistent menu. Beers have fun names and a good selection of IPA, Ales, Sours. I did like the atmosphere and the people. I had Kai goes to Peru. It was fruity but still a true sour!! Angry Alice was a good light IPA and a popular one.

Sandra A.

Yelp
Went to the Frogtoberfest on 10/2. It was okay. But the beer was okay; the food was only so so. I didn't like the sauwerkraut. Too bad because i really hoped it was better. Had a variety of memu items.

Catherine M.

Yelp
Rocket frog was a quaint but great brewery, with a larger selection of kolschs and some European styled beers than I expected. They have a cute beer tasting selection as well! Their outside is cute and their indoors isn't large but they have an awesome selection of games. Their food selection is limited to chips/salsa/queso so keep that in mind- I think you can bring your own food but we didn't. Overall good experience and I look forward to future trips!

Anish B.

Yelp
First time here, looks like a great hangout spot. There was a puzzle making competition going on when we went. I tried two IPAs, Froglet and Angry, Angry Alice (10oz pictured).

Jane P.

Yelp
Decided to enjoy a nice cold beer after biking on the WOD trail and it was neat to see this place tucked in a plaza of what seemed like a bunch of office buildings. There was a decent amount of outdoor seating and some seating indoors. The employee told us that sometimes they'll have food trucks on site but it all depends on whether the food trucks cancel or not. Was slightly sad there was no food but not to worry - if you walk about two minutes around the corner there are some food options available. A great place to check out and beer hop along the WOD trail!

Laura C.

Yelp
If you're a fan of sour beer, Rocket Frog is a great brewery to visit. On this visit, we tried all three of the "Kai Gose" beers. Out of the three, our favorite was Kai Gose to Peru, which had some interesting ingredients like purple corn. Kai Gose to Hawaii (passion fruit, orange, and guava) and Kai Goes to Key West (key lime) were also very good. Summertime Groove was probably our least favorite of the flight. Outside of today's visit, I have had the Wallops Island Brown Ale and Helleanor Helles Lager, which are both excellent. They also have some pretty sweet can art! We sat outside while we enjoyed the beer. One of Rocket Frog's drawbacks is that they don't have much outdoor seating, so I would suggest going there during the week when it's less busy. I also would like to go back for trivia nights when those start up again. I found out about Rocket Frog and some of the beers we tried today through online streams of Drink N Think trivia.

Ang K.

Yelp
Nice brewery with good beer. Participated in a 5k they were hosting, which included one beer ticket after the run. Lots of tables and seating were available plus they had some tables inside. Would definitely return.

Doris Y.

Yelp
It was a good place to hangout with friends and have some beer.

Cori C.

Yelp
Okay, their patio is pretty small and DIY compared to Crooked Run. And they don't have tacos. But you know what they do have? Space. You don't have to fight for a table. You can show up with a bunch of friends and all fit. Also, better beer. If you're in it for the beer, Rocket Frog is going to win. And finally: a better logo. Start here and drink the good beers. Walk over to Crooked Run when it's time to grab tacos and sober up.

James W.

Yelp
4/5 Multiple Visits. Rocket Frog is our favorite of this cluster of breweries in the area. It's easy to compare them with Crooked Run as the breweries are in such a close vicinity. But it's not a fair comparison... to Crooked Run. Rocket Frog blows them away. Rocket Frog is focused on making good beer while Crooked Run seems to be more focused on being a scene. Rocket Frog has a menu that ranges from solid to excellent, I really enjoyed their Tripel. But even the styles of beer I typical don't like were very well done so they have something for everyone. The atmosphere is more relaxed and you aren't packed in with a ton of bro dogs. If you're looking for good beer I highly recommend Rocket Frog.

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
Went on a sunny Sunday afternoon and they had the redskins game on. Perfect! Ordered the Minotaur American blond ale and it was very light and refreshing. Staff is friendly and great atmosphere. Decent amount of seating and they have board games and giant connect four. Friday's and Saturday's are most busy days. Defiantly worth a visit!

Tim J.

Yelp
The brewery is in the best location with some amazing beer on tap. Just around the corner are some amazing food options if you don't care for their food.

John M.

Yelp
Truly enjoyed our time at Rocket Frog. Originally heard about then at another local brewery. Favorite beer by far was there new Saison. Very fresh with great spice. Their award winning brown was also very good. Friendly staff that was full of recommendations of both beer and local attractions.

Wendy M.

Yelp
A must stop if you're in the area. Typically not a fan of saisons, but really enjoyed their recent release, Burning Swan. Staff was extremely friendly and took the time to answer all of our questions, both about beer and local attractions. Located in an industrial park. Ample parking, but lack of food. Chips and salsa available, but would be nice to have a food truck every Saturday. Good variety of beer on tap, something for everyone.

Steph B.

Yelp
I am pleasantly surprised! This place has great beer! Caps in 5 is a must try, all of the dark beers are splendid.

Random D.

Yelp
Been here more than once and found the place to be not crowded both times. The place is in the same vicinity as crooked run.. Both times I had angry Alice IPA which was solid.

Chris K.

Yelp
Loved the beer, hated the queso. Tried the Antares, which was a west coast IPA and thought it was rather tasty. If you get chips and dip, skip the queso and get the salsa.

Amanda C.

Yelp
The beers here are great. We ordered a few tastings and sat on the front porch. I definitely recommend going here. They do not serve food though.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
I went to Rocket Frog on 2/24/19. This brewery surprised me. The beers within each flight were very balance. My husband is not a big IPA drinker and enjoyed the IPAs. He didn't mind drinking them. I usually don't enjoy sour styles of beer. I felt the same way about the sours that were offered. It looks like they have a regular rotation of food trucks. The brewery is very welcoming. Although the tasting room is on the smaller side, I thought it was very comfortable. I also loved the local (and what appeared to be rotating) art on the walls. My husband I got to speak with one of the brewers. He really seemed to love his craft and shared with us that he is working on more "tap takeovers" in the area. If I didn't have somewhere to be I could have easily spent another hour at Rocket Frog. In a nutshell, Rocket Frog is now on my list of "favorites".

Kasey K.

Yelp
I stopped in here today after work I am not from the area so just went on a whim and stopped in to try the beer and check out the atmosphere. I was impressed the beers tasted great the service was amazing and the conversations were plentiful. If I lived in the area It would be dangerous to live near by I would be in way to much. Would definitely recommend stopping in for a beer or two!

Nicole C.

Yelp
Rocket Frog was an interesting brewery experience. I had one of their beers at Lost Dog cafe previously that week and I wanted to go an try a few more. I liked some of the more important aspects of a brewery experience, but there were still some things that may prevent me from returning. Pros: -The beer was good. I only tried one, and it was a milk stout. It was rich and smooth. It was also very well priced. -Service did not take long at all -Food trucks are there on weekends -Lost of parking -Easy to find! Cons: -SIZE! This is the smallest brewery ever and when we were there people's kids were running around and screaming. It was echoing and almost impossible to hear anyone else. -The cost of snacks like chips and salsa are way too high for what you get -Even though there weren't that many people there, it felt overly crowded because of the way the tables are shared and set up -Very few low tables, only high tops

Colleen M.

Yelp
Tried this on Wednesday afternoon for the 1st time nice selection of beer plenty of outdoor seating and good COVID protocols being used will be back

Kevin T.

Yelp
One of the best around! If you are looking for a great place to get some local brew I highly recommend trying Rocket Frog. I can honestly say it's the first time ever that I bought a few flights (tried eight beers) and enjoyed every one. Keep in mind they have a full compliment of different beers. Way to go Richard, I will be back!

Micah S.

Yelp
Awesome brewing company with fantastic beer selection. If you're into IPA's, I highly recommend the Angry Alice. And the pretzels are out of this world. Very friendly staff and knowledgeable on each beer they offer. This is a must if you're doing the LoCo beer trail.

Julie S.

Yelp
Rocket Frog always has fantastic beer and great service. The tasting room isn't huge, but it definitely has more personality than others in the area. One of my favorite breweries in Northern VA!

David R.

Yelp
The beer is great, the story behind their name is interesting and amusing, but.....the place is too bright inside. I realize it's a brewery. Industrial. But it's lacking the aesthetics of nearby places like Crooked Run, Solace, and Twinpanzee. Plus the patrons appear to be regulars who are not the friendliest sort unless you're part of their clique, compared to other breweries nearby. I go to fill up the growler, and move on.

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and great brews highly recommend this place lagers and brown ales are greattttt

Matt R.

Yelp
Stopped in a few weeks ago because crooked run was packed and the party-like atmosphere wasn't what we were seeking. Enter Rocket Frog. Low key, good service, friendly company. Reminded me of twinpanzie if you know the place. Beers are decent too. We'll definitely head back to check this place out again.

Alyssa T.

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Delicious beer! What more can you want? They're doing such a good job with COVID restrictions and making sure everyone is safe. Highly recommend this brewery!

Devon M.

Yelp
We stopped by yesterday for tasters and were welcomed immediately by awesome staff. The spot is really nice with cool decor; it's also super clean which is a definite plus. Now to the important part - the beer! With so many breweries popping up in the London county area, you never know what you'll find. The beer was great! They had a great selection and it was difficult determining which was my favorite, because they all were delicious. Worth stopping by, you won't regret it!!

Clinton A.

Yelp
Rarely do you visit a microbrewery where every beer of every style hits the mark. Rocket Frog is the exception to that rule. Double IPA, imperial stout, barrel aged barley wine, and coffee stout were all exceptional. Only complaint was that time was limited and we didn't get to sample the full menu!

Phat N.

Yelp
Went for the grand opening, but if it was your first time visiting, you wouldn't know it. The beer is great, and the brewery was fully operational from day one. Filled a personal growler and bought another 64oz because the beer was that damn good. I loved the coffee brown ale, angry angry alice dipa, and the saison with peach. Branding was on point. Peep the sweet frog astronaut on all the pint glasses, kegs, and merch. They were nice enough to give tours of the back end. Apparently, twin brothers opened the place up to make their favorite kinds of beer. Worth the drive from Ballston. Highly recommend!

Jeff A.

Yelp
Been hearing rumbling about this joint for a while. The three beers I tasted were excellent, which is a great sign of things to come for such a new brewery. Cant wait to taste what's next. Happy for VA beer. Prost!

Michael L.

Yelp
Went here with my girlfriend for ASL appreciation day event. We got a tour of the back area where all the good stuff is created. The staff was super friendly and the place was a great gathering area for friends. Tried different samplings that were offered. Since I prefer darker stout, I enjoyed the Wallops Island.

James K.

Yelp
Even though this is a new brewery with a limited tap list, You can tell these guys are passionate about beer and want to get it right. The Angry Alice IPA really hit the spot. Can't wait to see what else they come up with in the next couple months.

Thomas H.

Yelp
Rocket Frog i without a doubt one of my wife and I's favorite breweries in Northern Virginia. What they may lack in a larger tasting room they make up for in their beer and friendly staff. The Wallops Island Brown Ale is one of my favorite beers period, and everything else I've had in terms of Sours, IPAs and Witbiers I've found to be equally impressive. I'm glad they distribute as well, as they are an absolute go-to when I see them featured or on-tap elsewhere. Great merchandise and branding as well.

Jason O.

Yelp
Great first trip! Lots of potential. The staff was friendly, had an excellent food truck outside and the prices were decent. The only opportunity was selection (obviously being newer) and I wish they had any amount of an outdoor area although the beer was great and I'll be back!

Jennifer F.

Yelp
Really cool theme. Beers were great and the whole place is clean. I wish they had more food choices but loved everything else about this place.
