"Rockfire is the kind of place that every college town needs. With its menu of burgers, wings, drinks, and more — plus karaoke and open mic nights — there really is never a bad time to stop in." - Farley Elliott

Love the flat bread!! The burgers are a bit small but very tasty and the flat bread pizza is a smidge larger than the average personal size. Service is not a thing here, they take your order and that's it. Plenty of outdoor tables and their own parking lot with a dozen or so spots. Plenty of TVs and we don't have to worry about the kids being too loud here.

Headed to the beach and needed a meal before we went. After looking at restaurants near us, we decided to give this place a try. They do have a small parking lot next to them for easy parking. Upon arriving, we were greeted by Raj. Super friendly and helpful. He explained that they are based on flatbreads. And that the buns for the burger are placed in the oven at the time of your order. It is a flatbread bun. Which is great because its not only fresh but it does stand up to their burgers. We ordered the Texas two step burger and the New Yorker pizza. The burger was juicy flavored just right with onion rings, bbq sauce, and bacon with cheesey goodness. It was a very good burger!! We made it a combo so it would include fries. They gave us 4 different sauces to try, their house sauce (leaned into a bbq flavor), garlic aioli (not very garlicky), ranch (needs a bit more ranch kick), and the good ole standard ketchup. Next up the pizza. The New Yorker is a meat lovers dream. With pepperoni, ham, and sausage. The crust is of course the flatbread. It was good but to be honest, I liked the burger better. I would definitely be back to try other options. (With the pandemic, they can't do salads until everything fully opens.) It is a great place to eat. And the prices are fair. Its a must try if you haven't been here and a must go back if you have.

Rockfire Grill is a great burger and pizza place smack dab in the middle of Isla Vista, the college community beside U.C. Santa Barbara. Cool island vibe all around with their Tiki lounge decor and reggae hits playing in the background. The lunch special of original flatbread burger (which comes with 2 patties), fries and drink is not only the most succulent, flavorful burger you'll have in Santa Barbara County, it also won't hurt your wallet. The flatbread is a great alternative to regular burger buns, being light and crispy, so you get more burger flavor and less dough. It is apparently baked the same time your burgers are cooked, making it all the more fresh! Their in-house sauces are very good as well, perfect for dipping your fries, sandwich, or pizza in. Staff was very helpful and courteous. Nice outdoor seating area, and also plenty of indoor dining. They even have a mini stage for karaoke nights! Small-ish parking lot, and good luck with street parking. Just don't get hit by students biking on auto pilot trying to not be late for class.

We stopped here for lunch before camping. Wonderful customer service; we were immediately greeted, invited to look at the to go menus, and seated outside. The server came shortly to give us recommendations for the freshly baked flat bread burgers. The 5 of my friends and I devoured the burgers with our condiments and beers. They even came to ask for refills for me and my dog and her water bowl. We all said we would come again!

Delicious burgers and wings and friendly service. Chill vibes. Loved the season fries.

Google
This is my second time here. Great place to get beer and a burger. They are doing indoor dining but the patio is a great place to eat because it is shaded.

Best burger I have ever had! The chef, Masoud, is such a nice and talented guy!!!

Google
The burgers were really good with lots a flavor! The fries were some of the best that I have had in a long time. The pizza is the perfect size for individuals. The only problem I had was the wait time.

Yelp
Mucho Aloha Hard Lemonade pitcher 3.21/10- we got this because it's new! it's 8% but it doesn't have a lemonade taste, it tastes exactly like a FourLoko Pink Lemonade and for the alcohol percentage to not be 14% it is so not a move. In fact, we had to switch it out. Stem Dry Apple Cider 6.46/10- 6.8% alc, incredibly sour- I'm sure by apple cider they meant Granny Smith. Has a weird after taste. Not terrible but not great tbh Stem Pear Cider Pitcher 7.32/10- 5% alc, not as sweet as usual, but always a go to for the pitcher - imo their best one. A bit more on the sour side this time but it hits Rockfire pitchers on tuesdays are half off, if you get their premium beer, seltzers, or hard lemonade and they're open till midnight

Yelp

Yelp
Searching through other reviews, I didn't see any that mention Rockfire's vegan option. So here I am to review it. Take the Jungle Veggie Burger, leave out the cheese from the fresh-baked flatbread and leave the sauce off the sando, and you grab the only vegan option on the menu that's not a side! And it's totally delicious! Overall I can't give Rockfire five stars; it's too chaotic and with only one vegan option it's not the best place for me to eat. As a non-binary person, the binary gendered bathrooms are annoying too. So last century. Plus, a vegan cheese option would make the pizzas so much more accessible. But the specials and deals are wallet-friendly and the flavors are good. And that fresh-baked flatbread hits the spot. Plus free wifi and nice heat lamps. So a favorable four stars overall.

Yelp
Wow! First time visiting! I personally am not a big burger fan but the bf is. Wow! I loved it!!! Delish!!! I would definitely return again! Atmosphere was quiet & chill about 6pm (early summer) loved the playlist. ;) Customer service was great very helpful and walked us through their most popular items which we ordered 2 out of the 3! Westcoast burger and Newport meats pizza! & Their seasoned fries!!! Yum yum yum! Thank you for a great meal!

Yelp
PHOTOS ARE MORE APPETIZING!! Flew in and looked for some food nearby. The photos looked really appealing so I gave it a try. Upon arrival the place was dead. Went up to the counter and ordered a Malibu chicken sandwich and honey garlic wings with some sweet chili sauce on the side. They did not mention the sauce would be an additional charge and ended up being $1 which in my option is high. The nice part is that they have some complimentary sauces: ketchup, ranch, garlic aioli and house. My favorite sauce had to be the house. The food came out in a timely manner. The wings were very crispy. The chicken sandwich was just alright. I enjoyed the flatbread bun idea more than the execution. The fun was very hard so I had to forcefully tear it with every bite. Overall, the photos looked better than the actual food and the place is skippable.

Yelp
I read the reviews and wanted to avoid the wharf this time. This place is just a few blocks away from UC Santa Barbara so naturally there are a lot of college kids here as well as locals. They offer indoor dining but the outside patio seems to be where most people prefer to eat. With a nice shady patio, it's hard to resist. You place your order and you are give a buzzer. My food was ready within 10-15 minutes. I got a Del Margs flatbread pizza and a East Bay BBQ Flatbread burger. I was not sure how a flatbread burger was going to turn out but it was great! They pan sear some cheese to the back of it to give it a nice crisp cheesy crust. The pizza was was also good and thicker than the butcher flatbread; which I did prefer it that way. Definitely recommend. Easily because it's pretty decently priced. My 2 dishes an a soda was $24.

Jess S.

Yelp
Yo the fries here totally slap. They're seasoned - kinda like Popeye's fries, and delicious even the second day after being microwaved since they're so full of flavor. Mildly tempted to come back just for this. I got the La Jolla burger which was also really really tasty. The flatbread bun I think is my new favorite type of bun. It just went so well with the burger. Only complaint was that I didn't really taste the pepperjack, but the overall burger was still really good. I also got the hard lemonade and damn, that was tasty. Didn't taste much like lemonade, more like a punch. The place, given its proximity to UCSB, has college bar vibes, and giant bench tables outside. The downside to this was that the ground also had college bar vibes - there was spilt food littered on the floor. Though, to be fair, I was there on the later side of the evening around 9pm. They also were closing early that night at 10 instead of 11, and I know I would have been upseeet if I had missed that cutoff. Also, the giant benches made it slightly more awkward to be eating there by myself. Way better than Islands though lol. Definitely tempted to come back during my short trip!

Yelp
How can you have the word Grill in your business name, have a pizza that has pineapple on it- but you can't add "grilled pineapple" to a burger. I was told by the guy in the kitchen that it couldn't be done-- The burger wasn't anything to write home home about either, but the fries were delicious though.

David C.

Yelp
Had the boneless wings. They came out very out and fresh, tasted great! Very friendly service. Plenty of room and good music.

Chris G.

Yelp
This is just what I needed on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. It's a bit hidden from IV's main drag but affords a decently-sized private parking lot. The place has a tropical décor theme and reminded me a lot of the old Kahuna Grill. There's ample table seating both in and out. Order, pay, and your number is called. They also have what looks like a stage inside so I gather this place has a night scene. I learned that this place makes their flatbread buns on the spot, after your order is placed. What a cool concept. I ordered the Malibu Chicken Sando grilled with BBQ sauce and a Sierra Nevada hazy Little Thing IPA. The beer was very good, and the sando was just heavenly with a side of fries. Perfectly seasoned with fresh ingredients and the aforementioned bun, it was all delicious. My wife got the same sandwich but deep fried - which was also delicious in a deep fried way. I checked in on Yelp, after ordering, and was awarded a 15% off coupon - check in before ordering, if not, this place is definitely worth visiting again to take advantage of the Yelp deal.

Yelp
Darn! Really wish I could give it a better score. When food is lukewarm it ruins the experience for me, unfortunately. It has such a cute vibe and they make their own bread there but none of my food was hot. The food was regular sports bar type.. nothing too special BUT it's cute and the guy at the counter was very friendly. It's such a shame.. It wasn't just one of the items. It was everything

Sonia Alisa J.

Yelp
What a wonderful local burger and pizza place. We were in SB for the day and saw their reviews thought we'd try it. The bread on the burgers is so unique and tasty, meat was perf writ done and the fries and onions were perfect. We wish there was a closer location because this could have been a regular place for us !

Marci H.

Yelp
I love their take on burgers with the flatbread. It is light and refreshing. On top of that I love the variety of burger styles. I have gone ever several times and loved each one. If I had to pick a favorite it would be their BBQ burger.

Richie D.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I have not YET enjoyed Rockfire's famous, Insta-worthy Flatbread Burger... I do, however, LOVE their flatbread pizzas which keep me coming back for more! Whenever my sister and I have a taste for pizza, we dial up Rockfire Grill. We appreciate that they have some unique pizza toppings, the pizza is not overly filling (being on the thinner and smaller yet shareable size), and their dipping sauces are fabulous. Service Announcement: Get bigger sauce cups! I literally walk out of here with 20 mini cups of their homemade ranch, basil pesto aioli, and other dipping sauces that are self-serve. I also get them for their boneless wings which are super addicting and come in a variety of spicy flavors. Honey Garlic and Sweet Chili being my favorites. I have always had friendly service on the phone and at the register, though I have never actually dined in. Give its location in the heart of the IV and the constant turnover of businesses there, Rockfire Grill holds its own and I am a loyal regular!

David J.

Yelp
Really? This place is pretty trashy. It has great reviews... but it is kit very good. Burger over cooked. Fries over cooked. Boneless wings straight out of a bag of frozen nuggets from the local market. Not a clean place. Service not great either.

Brian F.

Yelp
I'm not sure what happened to this place. Food was average at best. Got a couple burgers and pizza. Nothing to write home about. Service was good. Person was friendly and helpful. The main issue is that the place looks like it's in major disrepair. Every picnic table in the front area is warped and totally dirty. All of our arms were filthy and black from just sitting at the tables. Gross. Additionally, there was fossilized onions (I think??) and other nasty morsels on most tables. Maybe this is acceptable for college folk who just wanna get pitchers and do karaoke, but I least expect some relative baseline of cleanliness. I don't want to need a shower after a restaurant visit. This will be our last visit.

Natasha S.

Yelp
SO GOOD!! We were looking for a quick lunch spot and I of course had to rely on my fellow yelpers and this spot did not disappoint! Parking was easy as they have their own lot and what a fun decor vibe. We went up to the register to order and asked for recommendations. The employees there were so patient and we ultimately went with the La Jolla and fries. There is plenty outdoor seating and vacation music playing - felt like a getaway itself! Our order was ready quickly and we were offered to try all 4 sauces with our fries. The sandwich itself SO flavorful with a touch of spice and such a unique bun. The fries were hot and crispy. We literally enjoyed every bite. As an aside, they take COVID protocols very seriously. A customer came by who did not have a mask and they immediately offered her one. Here's to hoping they open a location up in the Bay!

C T.

Yelp
Different with the flat bread added to the burger but definitely flavor filled! Onion rings were on point! Glad i substituted the fries! Just wish the sauces came in bigger containers hah.. The only real negatives I have with this place is the price & inside of the restaurant. It was a bit off putting and rundown like a used up bar. But it is a college community and has nothing to do with the quality of the food. Ended up just taking the food to go. Would really like to try the pizzas next time around.

Julianne B.

Yelp
3/12/2021 What a great find! Again, hubby and I Yelped a close lunch spot and found Rockfire Grill. It was cool to drive through UCSB to get there - such a pretty day and not many people around since school is still mostly online. The place had a comfortable outside area, and even expanded it's seating out into the parking lot. (No indoor dining at this point.) I don't like eating in parking lots, so we sat in the patio area. There weren't many students there - just 2 other tables, so it was perfect. I also don't like eating in overly-crowded areas these days. As far as the food we ordered: MARGS FLATBREAD PIZZA - Super tasty! The tomato and basil pesto sauce made this plate. The crust was crunchy, yet not too thin. The toppings were the perfect amount too. FRIED CHICKEN SANDO - Really good also! I love that as you eat their sandwiches nothing falls out the back-side! lol This has always been a pet peeve of mine. Plus, the bread (crust, basically) stays together and doesn't get squished between your fingers as you're eating it. It all stays put until the last bite, literally! I love that. MOZZARELLA STICKS - These were perfectly cooked. The ratio of crunchy breaded crust to cheese was on-par. I love that you have a bunch of sauces to choose from as well (besides the marinara). Ordering: I like the fact that you order from the cashier, they call your name, then you take it to the table. That way you can sit anywhere you like and don't have to be waited on. Next time we're in Santa Barbara, we'll most likely drop by again!

Peaches H.

Yelp
This place was good and the flatbread pizzas tasty! We stopped in here the morning after a wedding and the outdoor seating and finger vibes hit the spot! It's walk up and order service and then you get a buzzer to retrieve your food. One of us also got the hamburger and the flatbread bun again made an appearance! Tasty and so glad we stopped in.

Karina C.

Yelp
Hugo made this experience AMAZING!! His salsa is SOO good! And the customer service was top tier!! If you want a good beer and good food, this place is perfect! We

Alexis P.

Yelp
The burgers were okay. The veggie patty was really dry. The regular burger my picky 8 year old thought was awful and we were so glad that the fries were at least delicious which went well with the cute painting outside. They had some cooking show playing on all of the televisions with the sound turned all the way up you couldn't even hear yourself think, luckily they finally turned it down after we asked twice.

Alex M.

Yelp
Went back to Rockfire to try their pizza this time! Unlike their boneless wings, I think this pizza is a little more promising and is actually a pretty decent dish. Aside from the pineapple, the toppings were bountiful. Personally, too much cheese for me, though. More importantly though, I think it is important to acknowledge if not credit image sources before using them :)

Taiyo T.

Yelp
like almost all places, the food in the photos looks bigger and better than reality. the burgers are good but on the smaller size. the patties were overcooked and dry. the flatbread buns are REALLY good. it was easily the best part of the burgers. we LOVED the flatbread buns. unfortunately, they "ran out of dough" tonight, so no pizza. judging by the flatbread on the burger, i imagine the pizzas may be really good. fries are very light and crispy. texture-wise, they were great, but something tasted off. we werent sure if they were slightly burned, or if the oil was old. service wasn't great. the workers were nice, but we had to ask for our drinks a few times. we ended up going to the counter to finally get it. this was especially disappointing because 3 of the workers were standing around chatting. they were very pleasant though.

Melody M.

Yelp
Chicken sandwich was whatever. Burgers are odd. A big piece of flat bread with a little patty inside. Fries were good. Ladies bathroom was gross and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in some time. No toilet seat covers, toilet paper, or soap. If your restroom looks this way I can't imagine the kitchen. Please use bleach when cleaning a toilet and check in periodically. These things matter at a restaurant that asks for tips when paying.

Hannah D.

Yelp
Def a college party restaurant. Not for families or before 9 pm. Went at 11:30 when they opened and the front gate was still chained shut. There was also a heavy tar smell from the parking lot.

Iris F.

Yelp
Solid burgers! What I liked was that the bread was very unique - not a regular bun, but an herb focaccia which I like better than a regular bun bc more flavor and chewier texture. Everything else inside the burger was great, nothing that special but pretty loaded for the price (which was super affordable). And their selection of burgers is awesome, so many unique combos I wanted to try but I ended up going with the Chipotle burger. The sauce in this was so flavorful, and the meat was juicy af! Service was good, and bc of COVID-19 my friends and I sat outside in the patio.

Joshua N.

Yelp
College bar food. Would pick it over fast food but I wouldn't go here purposefully. Their wings are good. The flatbread for burger bun was interesting but too carby for anyone who graduated let alone someone middle aged like me.

Jocelyn S.

Yelp
Man this place is HEAT. All their burgers are super well-rounded with the sweet and savory, and every layer goes super well together. I want to highlight that they use this DELICIOUS herb focaccia flatbread in lieu of a traditional bun. My GOODNESS that really tied the whole burger together literally and palatably. I've never had this kind of bun on a burger before, and it was something I'd love to have again in the future. I got the OMG burger which stands for Onion Mushroom Garlic. Hooooo boy. Just a really, really solid burger. Their fries were also very yummy. The perfect crunch to cushion ratio of yanno what i'm sayin. Prices are very reasonable for a gourmet burger place in a college area. All the burgers are around $10 including tax.

Ricky E.

Yelp
Loved the flavors and ambience. It was great to have a burger outside on their patio on a nice sunny day

chunx M.

Yelp
We came here because I thought it would be a good compromise because they have burgers for some of my family and salad/grilled chicken for me. But guess what? They were out of salad AND out of grilled chicken....however, I'm happy this happened because it forced me to walk around in search of a salad that fit the bill while my family still ate at Rockfire. One person said his burger wasn't bad & the other said he was disappointed because the fried chicken (they only had fried, not grilled) was warm, borderline cold. THEN they didn't have any ice for the soda machine and the Diet Pepsi tasted like cleaning fluid. I'm generous with the 3 stars, but at least they are & it wasn't horrible.

Nicolas J.

Yelp
"4 chicken fingers for $10" didn't even get 4 and they're tiny. Did online order, very disappointing.

Chassidie L.

Yelp
Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in IV!! The price is good, the service is good, everyone around us was having a good time! We went on a Wednesday... guess what they have on Wednesday? 75 CENT WINGS!! & they also have karaoke night! I definitely recommend this place if you want some good food, good vibes and a fun time. Their french fries are the best in IV!

Marlore C.

Yelp
We saw that this place had great reviews so we tried it out. We got there and the menu was super limited. They usually have all kinds of food but this day they had about 5 burgers, a few sides... no pizza or other stuff! A bit disappointed. We were so hungry that we just ordered what they had. I had the mozzarella sticks which were good, the burgers were served on flatbread and they were decent. The fountain drink ice machine was not producing much ice either. They didn't really elaborate on the limited menu except that they had a shortage of food. There were only 5 people dining at the time. So with that said... the food wasn't terrible but the menu was not as expected. Maybe I'll give this place another try another day.

Mark J.

Yelp
Awesome pizza. Great service. It kinda seems like Base Camp in south lake. But great also.

Jennifer N.

Yelp
The food here was good! I liked their pineapple and ham pizza because it had such a good taste. I called and ordered take out around 9:30pm and luckily I did! When I got there, there was a huge line from the front door all the way to the sidewalk outside. It was packed! I was able to cut the line and just pick up my food because I ordered take out. Definitely recommend this place since food was good but probably consider take it out, especially at night

Ed G.

Yelp
Ordered a pint of beer and it was served to me in a tiny cup, probably intended for customers who order water. Probably all of a half-pint in volume. I think some of the employees need to be trained on what cups are the pint ones.

Carrie U.

Yelp
Good thing the other place I was going to eat at was out of everything, otherwise I wouldn't have agreed to give this place another shot. The recent visit was a complete turnaround to the first experience I had. The burger was solid, and the flat bread was soft and sturdy. ........... After having this draft saved for a bit, I just drove by the old Mission Viejo location this review was for and realized this place is gone. Damn

Julio Z.

Yelp
Not a typical burger, very good and juicy. The fries are pretty good, ambient is okay but food is good.

Rupert T.

Yelp
Amazing food! great vibe, lovely owner! My new favorite! Cheddar Cheeseburger! Xxxxxxxx

Ryan T.

Yelp
Interesting burger buns - like they're made out of pizza crust rather than a soft bread bun. I liked it. Wife and I both enjoyed our La Jolla burgers and the kids both raved about the French fries.

Adrian G.

Yelp
It's a must try! The service was friendly and patient and the food was delish! They also have games to rent and even have Karaoke on Wednesdays. You won't be disappointed!

Britt R.

Yelp
The plan was to eat half of the order- NOPE! Fantastic bbq boneless wings and flatbread La Jolla burger. So so good!!! Well done

Chris G.

Yelp
Smelled like piss when we walked in the restaurant and the floors were dirty and sticky. Poor customer service. The girl working behind the counter seemed new or unfamiliar with her job. Also frustrated like she didn't want to be there. They forgot the French fries on my friends order and didn't pack it to go. When he asked if they can make it to go she responded "why didn't you ask?" But we did... also no bags on Togo containers just styrofoam. The burger my friend got fell apart. The salad I got was made from the lowest grade chicken I've ever encountered. Nothing fresh about this. Seemed like it came out of a bag. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else. Disgusting all around

NetteSindie F.

Yelp
A novel, island life-inspired, burgers-on-flatbread joint that turns into a karaoke club (kitchen closes at 8:00) in a hip college town. It has its own parking lot which was a plus! We had the basic flatbread burger and it was pretty good, really. The fries were flavorful too. Big patio area and dog friendly.

Rita A.

Yelp
We came here around 2 on a Tuesday and there was 1 other table. They also had 1/2 off pitchers on Tuesdays. Ordered the lunch special (burger, 1/2 fries, and a drink) for 8.99 plus 1.50 to sub the burger to the Malibu chicken one with chipotle ranch. This burger was okay, kind of bland. The East Bay BBQ burger was delicious. I loved the flavor of the burger patty. The Del Margs Flatbread pizza was good but I expected better. The staff were very friendly, the cashier asked if it was our first time and explained the menu to us. There was a stand with ketchup, garlic aoili, house sauce, and ranch. Plus some utensils, parmesan, red flakes, salt, and pepper. There is a parking right outside the restaurant.

Jay Y.

Yelp
I saw this place on IG and they should raise the salary of whoever markets for them because the food and atmosphere is dingy at best. I really wanted to like them. The wings were overly brined but perfectly crispy, so basically they were delicious but you might suffer dehydration or heart palpitations after. The burger was decent but if the meat really was angus, you can't taste it because they did too much. The bread was over powering the meat aspect and just too much going on but the burger wasn't smashed right and ended up like a mound. The table was disgusting and sticky. Looked like I could get a std from it. The bathroom smelled like old crap and piss, yet it was clean. The service was subpar

Christopher B.

Yelp
Ordered from the website, order was confirmed, and then go to pickup and the restaurant was closed. Having to dispute the charge with my bank. Hours listed on website and everywhere else show that it should have been open for another 40 minutes from when I arrived. Unsure if the restaurant was closed early or wasn't even open to begin with. But either way, accepting and confirming orders under those circumstances is unprofessional. Do not recommend ordering from them online and will not be returning. Very unimpressed.

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Rockfire is definitely one of the better places to eat in IV. They only have outdoor seating right now but the tables are pretty large and they have heaters so you don't get too cold. Rockfire switched up their menu sometime during COVID and honestly, I miss their old menu. This time, I ordered the East Bay BBQ and a side of fries. They call your name out over the speakers once your order is ready and they offer you sauces (garlic aioli, house spread, ranch). out of ranch when I went sadly. I think they might've changed the recipe for the garlic aioli because it is definitely less garlic-y than it used to be ): The house spread really just tastes like thousand island sauce The burgers here have flatbread instead of your typical buns. It's a nice switch up from the typical bun but sometimes things can spill out the sides and the proportion of food is higher in the front (where it's open) compared to the back where it's closed. They give a decent amount of fries and they're always nice and crispy I would definitely NOT recommend getting the pizzas here. Although you do get more bang for your buck in terms of quantity, but there's less flavor for sure. My friend got one and had some regrets This is a classic spot especially when they have 50% off pitchers and I do love coming here with friends. Wish they didn't make all these changes though
