To start off the Owner and the guide that we had for the horseback riding were amazing individuals. They were so friendly and kind! Recently went with my girl friend for the 2 hour horse back riding. It was the best experience being my first time riding horses. We were shown by our guide how to put the saddle and the bridle onto the horses that we were riding. The whole process was really awesome to learn. If you are thinking about going to the Rockin Star Ranch for any of the activities they offer, don't second guess it just go for it you'll be satisfied.

Our family (DeMille) had a wonderful time, our original cottage had some maintenance issues, so we got moved to a smaller cottage, ( patio cottage) we are very simple and did not mind, even though we had 3 young adults raging in age 18-23, and two adults my husband and me. Our cottage had the perfect sleeping accommodation with two twin beds, one king size bed and a very comfy sofa. Kitchen has a sink, a mini fridge a microwave and a small cook top that you plug in. I was able to cook breakfast and lunch on the cook top with no problem, and we used one of the meny grills that are outdoors to cook some burgers for dinner. There is a lot of pets in the area, 4 dogs that we encounter, all very friendly, our favorite was lady, she was the sweetest, and a few cats that my daughter spend hours taking pictures of. Lol I got a horse ride, and that was my favorite part of our stay, I rode on Tater tot- a 20 year old female horse who had been rescued 5 years ago. Her story was very heartbreaking but with a happy ending. She was perfect for me, gentle as can be, calm and very easy to handle, I was glad, because the last time I rode a horse I was living in Minnesota and I was 13 years old. When you ride, you get a very important crash corse on how to guide your horse, you get to brush them, and saddle them, and I loved every step. Overall we 100% recommend Rockin Star Ranch, our host was so friendly and we can tell he loves to please his guest, very attentive and would answer our text within 5 minutes. We wanted a quiet weekend get away, and we got it. We will be back for sure.

My wife and I met up with friends there on July 26, 2025 weekend and had a blast. Rockin' Star is a short drive from the historic town of Brenham, TX in a true, country environment. We loved our nicely decorated lodging with everything you could need and more. The pool with waterfall made for a great Saturday afternoon. There's a fresh water pool with fish not far from the swimming with a lounging deck and surrounded by hundreds of rose bushes! We had a chance to see the wedding venue and were very impressed with the massive kitchen. We really enjoyed the horse back trail ride and interacting with all of the other animals including goats, pot belly pigs, quail and chickens. There's something for everyone, the staff are attentive and a great place to get away from it all and relax! We'll be back!

Had THE BEST experience this morning. Two hour trail ride with Darryl (spelling?) and Julie. I hadn’t been on a horse for quite a while. Darryl was very patient and extremely encouraging. He gave me total confidence. The horses were amazing. Very calm. I loved that we had the chance to brush our horses first and get to know them. We were encouraged to tack up our horses. The ride was very enjoyable. Got to see the beautiful Texas landscape, the cattle, goats and last but not least their crazy dogs. They were very entertaining. I plan on returning soon with my grandson. I know he would love it. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

While watching my son’s Baseball team this week, we got to stay at one of the most unique, relaxing, fun places we’ve ever been to! Our kids had a blast waking up to sweet dogs and cats on our front porch, feeding a baby deer, playing with a porcupine and lizards, swimming, fishing, could have gone horseback riding, and saw more stars than I’ve ever seen in my life! The grounds are well taken care of and you can tell they take pride in what they do. The cabins have everything, so comfortable and so close to town. I’m a city girl, but I loved this time in the country!!! Anything we needed, I got an immediate response. We’re already talking about going back. They also have a large event center and do weddings, which I think would be amazing with all their beautiful roses everywhere and can house a very large group. If you need a quick getaway, I highly recommend Rockin Star Ranch!! Thanks again for a wonderful time!!

Google
We had the most amazing experience at Darell’s beautiful ranch! He went above and beyond, taking extra time to show us around and make us feel completely welcome. We got to saddle our own horses, feed the cows, and even cuddle baby deer — truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance. As someone who has been on many trail rides, I can say this was far beyond anything I could have hoped for and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. My daughter said it was the most incredible experience we’ve ever had. Thank you, Darell, for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

Had the best time at Rockin Star this past week! The place is so beautiful with so many different activities and I can’t thank Darrell enough for the hospitality! He & Julia took me on an amazing horseback ride around the property and all I can say is WOW, thank yall! There are so many animals and wildlife, a pool, horse arena, trails, etc. This place is one you don’t want to miss out on!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this incredible property! From the moment I arrived, it felt like a hidden gem tucked away in nature’s beauty. The grounds are absolutely stunning—pictures don’t do it justice. This would be the perfect venue for a wedding; with lots of room for guests. The views are breathtaking, the atmosphere is peaceful and romantic, and there’s plenty of space for guests to relax and enjoy. One of the absolute highlights of my stay was the horseback riding. The horses were so well cared for and easy to ride, and the trails were peaceful and scenic—truly an unforgettable experience. Be sure to ask for Julie as your trail guide! She was kind, knowledgeable, and made the whole ride feel so fun and relaxed. And bonus—she has an adorable dog who sometimes comes along for the ride, adding even more charm to the experience. I’m already looking forward to coming back—especially to try the skeet shooting next time! With so much to do and such a warm, welcoming vibe, this place is a must-stay. Five stars all the way!

Yelp
Hard to tell you about our experience bc I've lost count of how many times we have gone. We love Rockin Star Ranch. It's one of our "happy places". We now bring different friends or family members each time who are all now also going all the time. And we've made some great friends at the ranch on some of our trips. Darryl truly makes this place feel like home. Each trip is different & even more amazing than the last.

Yelp
I came here for a wedding and stayed on the property. We were flying in and arrived late at night (or should I say early in the morning...3am) and it was no problem getting in as there is a code on the locked gate. The driveway was dark, but the cabins were well lit and don't lock. We stayed in one of the 4 identical cabins. The accommodations were nice and had a loft upstairs with two twins. It is a steep ladder and great for kids, but not for adults. The decor was western and featured some taxidermy. This scared some of the little kids we knew at the wedding. The bathroom and main bedroom were a decent size and the kitchenette had a mini fridge and coffee machine, along with the living area with a small TV and chairs/small couch. The grounds were beautiful and was a true farm. The pool was great for the kids and the waterfall made it feel fancy. I loved the open greenery and the animals that roamed, along with the ponies and goats that you could get close to. There is a covered pavilion near the pool that was a hang out spot for our crew. The wedding itself was in the grass next to the reception venue, since it was too wet to have it down in the pasture. The reception venue was large and had high ceilings. The food was pretty good and the two outdoor firepit areas right outside became a place for guests to step out as well. Parking is in a grass lot so beware the shoes you where, especially if it has rained recently.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at the ranch , rolling through to an event with the crew on our bikes and could not have felt more welcome. Cabins are clean and plenty of room for plus size gents, great bbq and very peaceful. Would definitely stop here again, staff are polite and friendly, except a small goat named Gio, he's a bit aggressive at 2' tall. JK good times to be had at the Rockin Star Ranch. Yelp
I've hosted several events and had family reunions on the ranch. The owners have always been wonderful to work with. It's always exciting to see what new and exciting additions they've made. We get to see something new just about every visit. My daughter loves visiting with the animals and enjoys riding in the arena with Darrell. Renting out the entire property is our favorite for weddings and reunions so we can have everyone together in one place. Can't wait for our next reunion! Thank you!

Yelp
Beautiful venue for anything from events to professional retreats to vacation! The hosts are extremely kind and maintain the property impeccably. The cabins are unique and rustic with plenty of space for relaxing and all the amenities you need between mini fridges, microwaves, and toiletries.

Yelp
This ranch is truly beautiful!!! But there are a lot of things that come after the fact that you pay in full. They nickel and dime you for all you are worth. They charge you for everything, bussing your own plates, using the AC in the hall which they regulate and only let you turn it down to 72....which if your wedding or party is large is way to hot for Texas!!! Half of the ACs in the room did not work and required maintenance. They did NOT clean the barn area where people are staying which really sucked. The bath tub in the bridal suite did not work, and almost all the showers had terrible pressure. They hang around all weekend and give you new rules at every turn, and try to tell you where and where you can't have the ceremony. There is one restroom with stalls that they expect men and women to share which is kind of gross. We had an agreement that we would split the cost of a nice restroom for men outside, then day of it turns out they never even booked it. Terrible people day and weekend of but are so nice and accommodating up to the date. Yelled and I do mean yelled at several people throughout the weekend. We did not mess up a single thing nor did we break any rules or break anything in fact we fixed SEVERAL things, just to have a nice weekend. The place is very beautiful I don't want to take away from that. Very nice but in the end not sure it was worth all the headaches.

Yelp
I don't like to leave LA. but this was the best experience. You have to go!!!!!! It's like going back in time. Loved the ranch vibe. It's great for a girls trip or a romantic get away. My favorite thing was the gorgeous rose garden and learning to ride a horse!

Yelp
Not just for weddings! Rockin' Star Ranch hosted our work Christmas party and it was awesome. There are 9ish cabins that can sleep around 30 people comfortably, a huge event hall, and lots of indoor and outdoor space with activities that any group can find something to enjoy. Outside there is a large kitchen / bar area that has built in speakers, a games area with a ping pong table, pool table, etc., a hot tub, fire pit (for s'mores), and animals that you can pet - all with a beautiful setting around you. The guys were very relaxed and made us feel that it was our own space for the day / night, but you know they will be there should you need anything. Thanks for having us!

Yelp
This is a little slice of heaven. The animals are super cute and the cabins are great for a family weekend, girls weekend, work retreat or a couples get away. The cabins and grounds are very clean. The outdoor kitchen and seating area add an outdoor living space to enjoy during your stay. Darrell is fantastic to work with and accommodating to his guests. My daughter is begging to go back.....and we have only been home a few hours!!!! Hurry and book your cabin!!!!

Yelp
The Rockin' Star Ranch has done it again! By far the best horseback riding experience in Brenham, Texas! Our host Darrell was incredibly gracious with his time and led this crew of newbie riders with ease and patience. We enjoyed a restful sleep in the perfectly decorated & clean patio cottage. Cannot recommend a stay at this property enough!

Yelp
This place is one of the best vacation spots I have been to. Darrel is the best host and every time I have been here he has gone above and beyond to accommodate us. His kids are so much fun to play with and so much fun to be around. The horse back riding is so much fun and the trail is so beautiful, and the horses are so friendly. The sunsets are absolutely outstanding amazing.

Yelp
The rockin star ranch was so beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed looking at the goats and walking around the property. It was well maintained and the facilities were nice and clean. The hosts made me feel welcome and were so funny. We shared many laughs together. I would definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Darryl is the most friendly and accommodating host! He showed us and let us feed chickens, goats, horses and a pig. So fun!!! The accommodations are well thought out, lovely, clean and comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!!!!!

Yelp
This place is amazing! Darrell and his son were the best hosts a person could ask for. Very knowledgeable and patient with new riders. The ranch has any and everything needed to have an awesome visit.

Yelp
I agree with another reviewer that pictures do not do this place justice. I fell in love with my cabin immediately, and the pool area and outdoor kitchen are amazing. My favorite part of the trip was definitely the animals though. Overall it was an amazing and restorative retreat. The only problem was that I didn't plan to stay longer! I will definitely be back soon and give myself more time. What a treasure!

Yelp
We just returned from our first stay at Rockin Star Ranch and had no idea that heaven on earth was practically in our backyard! Only an hour and a half from Houston and we were in the most beautiful and serene place! So, where do I even begin?! Our host, Darrell. who gives a whole new meaning to Texas hospitality! He is amazing! From the initial communications prior to our arrival, a personal tour of the entire property when we arrived, to the morning bottles for the girls to feed the baby deer, preparing the evening fire pit for smores, amazing evening hayrides and star gazing....I literally could go on and on. His endless attention to each and every guest to make our experience all the more memorable, is just beyond words! The property and cottages (we stayed in the Western Star) are beautiful, with no shortage of amenities and comforts. He has thought of everything - shower essentials, mini fridge/microwave/dishes in cabin, fishing poles (for the beautiful little pond behind the pool), pool towels, and skewers for smores! We brought our 16-year-old daughter and her best friend (both not really the outdoorsy type) who actually ended up spending hours roaming the property petting and feeding the animals, fishing (and actually catching!) fish, playing cornhole and horseshoes, swimming in the beautiful pool and even picking veggies from the little garden - they honestly did not want to leave and can't wait to come back! So, we are already planning our next stay!

Jessica J.

Yelp
This place is unreal. Honestly, I haven't seen a single picture that does it justice! My mom, sister and I decided to stay at Rockin Star Ranch during our girls weekend and after the first hour of being on site we were in love. We arrived a little later in the day but were able to settle in and take a quick peek around the property before meeting the owner, Darrell. Darrell was one of the kindest people I've met! He showed us where to find a few things then offered to get up at the crack of dawn to show us around before our busy day-it truly meant the world! Darrell met us shortly after sunrise (DONT miss it here!!!) and gave us a tour of the property in his Jeep. We saw elk, antelope, oryx, goats, cows, pigs, horses, donkeys..you name it, it was probably there. SO. COOL. I could go on and on about how incredible this place is. Everyone should get to experience a place like this at least once in their life. Get out there as quick as you can!!!

Yelp
A fantastic, relaxing getaway at a Texan Ranch!  My husband, 3 year old daughter and I recently celebrated my 40th birthday at Rockin Star Ranch.  It was a FANTASTIC! We stayed at Western Star cabin.  It was perfect!  The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our weekend.  The bed was really comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was amazing and they provided all shower essentials including q-tips and cotton balls. The kitchen in the cabin was stocked for our basic needs and the communal outdoor kitchen was fully stocked for all needs. We loved sitting on the rocking chairs on the patio outside the cabin, coffee in the morning, beers in the evening. Our daughter loved climbing the ladder up to the loft with my husband. I`m pregnant and didn't venture up but they had great fun playing up in the loft. The pool is gated, well maintained and a lot of fun.  We met other guests at the pool.  Our daughter had so much fun playing with the other children and we enjoyed chatting with the adults.  It was such a nice change from the isolation we`ve been experiencing for the past 2 months or so due to Covid-19.  The communal kitchen which is right beside the pool was also a great place to hang out and get to know the other guests.  It was easy to keep an eye on the children as they roamed about the facilities. For us, we were able to give our daughter a sense of freedom at the ranch compared to the apartment complex we currently live in. Darrell, the host, is so welcoming, happy to chat with you, helps with anything you need and we were lucky to get a hay ride tour of the ranch.  We enjoyed touring the ranch with him and the other guests.  Our daughter loved feeding all the animals and being allowed to pet them.  She had so much fun petting the kid goat and the fawn (baby deer).  Guests are allowed to collect eggs and take produce from the garden. Overall, it was an absolutely brilliant weekend for all 3 of us.  We were able to relax and have fun and feel like we were on vacation!  We LOVE this place so much that we`ve booked another weekend! We suggest you do the same and book some time at the Rockin Star Ranch!

Yelp
This place is top notch, from the venue to the grounds, to the kitchen and accommodations. The staff was incredible and were an integral part of my daughter's special wedding day. (11/2) The facility is extremely well appointed and built to accommodate caterers, bars and all types of set ups. It was a wonderful day! I strongly recommend the Rockin' Star Ranch.

Yelp
A perfect and beautiful place to get away from everyday life and just relax. Wonderful places to sit outside and you won't find a better outdoor kitchen to make your family and friends dinner. The animals and grounds are spectacular. I would definitely go back for any special occasion or gathering.

Yelp
When my wife told me we had been invited to join her family on a weekend trip to Rockin' Star Ranch I was really hesitant because I wanted to relax and enjoy some down time from our usual busy schedule. I grew up around ranches so I was pretty familiar with the living situations and condition of old ranches in Texas. When I pulled up to the ranch I was thinking this was going to be a weekend filled with horrible sleeping arrangements In outdated rooms and the smell of cow manure in the air, but once I drove through the gates of Rockin' Star Ranch I was immediately blown away by the beautiful pastures and ponds in the distance. Driving down the gravel road to Find a beautiful Home that was surrounded by the most amazing little rustic cottages, horses running in the fields just yards away, exotic animal making brief appearances to graze in the pastures was such a breath of fresh air and change of pace from the hectic nine to fives that had consumed our lives. My youngest is such an animal lover and outdoorsman so he loved being ablE to interact with the animals. Feeding the horses was definitely the highlight of his weekend. My 8 year old had such a good time with his cousins kicking the soccer ball around and taking turns touching the sky on the seesaw. When the sun went down and the adults started their fun it was filled with Corn hole, Jenga, and barbecue. I'm not much of a drinker and tend to pass on the drinking to avoid drinking and driving so to have the luxury of enjoying a drInk with family knowing I was only feet away from my bed was Peace of mind that made the weekend so much more worth it. While the amenities were amazing and would make me load the truck in a heartbeat for another weekend here I would say it was the Southern hospitality of the owners that made our weekend unforgettable. I think it goes without saying that this was a Five star experience that I would recommend to any family looking to enjoy a piece of Texas in its truest form.

Emily J.

Yelp
My friend and I both had most incredible time. The cabins were very clean and nice. Between all the different animals and the beautiful views everywhere I think I have found my new favorite getaway spot!

Yelp
We booked RSR for my daughter's wedding reception and it was amazing! There are onsite cabins to stay in plus a huge indoor pavilion for receptions or other events. The grounds include a ginormous horse barn, swimming pool, top notch outdoor kitchen, and pastures full of wild life plus mares with new foals. The staff worked tirelessly to see to our every need. Our cabin was immaculate and tastefully furnished. We had three onsite meals and my guests were begging the cook for the recipes. The pavilion includes a gorgeous bride's room with its own private bathroom and dressing area. There are beautiful photo ops around every corner at this place. They seemed to have thought of every possible ammenity here and added it. If you're planning a wedding in northwest Houston and are willing to drive a bit, check out Rockin' Star Ranch. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This place is a dream! The owners-Wallace and Marie Dillard are gracious hosts! They've created a one of a kind country sanctuary where you can feel as if you're far away from the city! The sunsets are beautiful and the decor has impeccable charm. The beds are comfortable and everything down to the linens are top notch. There is plenty of seating in the house and on the porch outside to relax and unwind. The garden is gorgeous! If you're looking to get away from the big city, I highly recommend the Rockin Star Ranch! Thanks so much Marie and Wallace for Rockin' Star Ranch!

Yelp
Settled in the middle of the Hill country on 150 acres. Prize winning sunflowers welcome you. Texas rustic, yet well appointed accommodations. Very comfortable beds! A multitude of exotic and domestic animals to view and appreciate. Quiet starlight night, beautiful gardens, pool and ponds. There are accommodation for special events such as weddings, retreats, reunions and much more. You want to rodeo, has that too! Our host ( the owner) went beyond above and beyond for us.. Highly recommend!
