The Ultimate Guide to Puget Sound’s Best Cideries | Eater Seattle

"A family-owned farm on the sweeping Enumclaw Plateau that has crafted cider since 1982 and was taken over in 2017 by Jason Devela and Misty Frantz, continuing a legacy of award-winning sweet (aka nonalcoholic) and hard ciders sourced from the family orchard in varieties like ginger and blackberry cobbler. A mini taproom hidden through the side door of the Rockridge Country Store offers 43 draught ciders and beers for growler fills or flights (pints are pending), while the store's coolers stock a huge, diverse selection of local beers, wines, and ciders. Out front, a farm stand sells local produce, fresh flowers, and unusual handmade pantry items such as candied jalapeños, chow chow pickles, mayhaw jelly, and "Rocksalmic" apple cider vinegar aged in French oak barrels; visitors can peek at the old orchard out back, pick up veggie starts, and say hi to Lucy the black cat." - Meg van Huygen

I bought some pears this week and my goodness they were delicious 😋 🍐 I did the old bowl covered with a kitchen towel for 2days and oh so worth it! I haven't found a good pear in awhile, so I was extremely happy to have found these! Sweet, juicy and so delicious! The apple cider is fanominal as well, always something I love to get from here. Give it a try you won't regret it!

Google
This place is great and you have to check it out. They have an amazing selection of beer and other drinks, you can also get your growler filled. They have produce, some bakery items, gluten free items, a great selection of Penny's salsa and tortilla chips, Gnarly Garlic Dip, Smith Brothers, lots of ice cream, etc. Well worth a trip and you will absolutely find something great there.

Google
Friendly and yummy cherries! They make their own hard cider and Strawberry Apple Cider with no added sugar! You can taste the different flavors! Super wonderful and cherries available!! The owners are nice and personable which makes for a wonderful experience. Good set up and I will be visiting with the family in the future!! Thank you !

Google
It looks like a country store with dozens of beer taps, and farm fresh produce. Free samples of the cider and brew. My favorite: Quarry Stone cider $15+, if you have your own growler. Recommended

Google
Jason & Wade are super kind. They vend awesome products at the West Seattle Farmer's Market on Sundays. The Hard Cider is phenomenal.

Google
My favorite little go-to place in town! They have a little of everything, including the best apple cider in the world! I love all the great specialty beer and wine options too. (Ask Misty for the recipe for Apple Cider Mimosas! You won't regret it!)

Google
Love this place!!! Local, family owned, and something for everyone. Amazing adult beverage selection, vegan and GF foods, and your everyday needs. We'll be back for growler fills, food, and the great service.

Google
They have a good selection of organic fruits and produce along with a great selection of soft drinks. Fresh pressed cider bottled in half gallon growlers is available. They also have a vast selection of draft craft beers on tap to fill your own growlers or you can purchase one there. They also have a generous selection of canned and bottled beer selections. Great place to go!

Yelp
Such an amazing incredible store! The owner is an absolute delight and I love everything that she stocks and so does she so anything you questions on ask her and she's going to know how it taste because she's taste tested everything in there which I absolutely love. Really obsessed with their apple cider here and the raspberry sparkle it is so delicious and then you have to try it together just trust us, it's delicious!! I do also enjoy that she stocks CBD drinks. So if you are looking for those go ahead and stop here. Lastly she sells pie maybe it was for the holidays but she sells by along with fresh fruits and veggies and more! Really happy to support this store and tap room!

Yelp
Cute little local store with some serious deliciousness inside. I've never stopped in b/c the place looks pretty run down and dark from the road, but the friendliness of the staff, yummy gems inside like PNW Cheesecakes, Bonnie Buns, Stinky Cheese...(the list goes on) is worth the stop!

Yelp
I love visiting Rockridge! The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, they have an amazing selection of bottles sodas and beer on tap!

Tammie B.

Yelp
Amazing, tasty apple cider! Nice little general store. Very friendly staff. I also really enjoy their pop-up markets.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. There is so much goodness that you find at the local farmer's markets here. I drive 30 minutes to get goodies and always stop if I am in the area. Their cider (nonalcoholic) is so good! I don't drink, so I can't speak to alcoholic beverages. My husband loved the tastings and growlers to go. Some of my favorite local goodness are Bonnie's Buns, Hunter and Holden's and jalapeño cheddar dip, and Stinky Dip (if you like pickles, try their pickle dip- ). They also carry local frozen pies, dairy, etc. like I said, it's a hidden gem.

Yelp
Great produce, great alcohol selection, and the best service! What more can you ask for?

Tena W.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in Enumclaw. Love to stop on Friday night to grab some drinks and some ingredients (handmade sourdough, fresh fruits/veggies)for Saturday breakfast. These selection of cbd drinks and small batch colas are the best!

Yelp
Awesome little country store! Fresh veggies and local goods. Also an amazing variety of beers and ciders. There is a taproom with dozens of beers on tap so you can do a tasting before grabbing a growler or cans from the cooler. Also an added bonus is a shot glass with the store logo when you do a tasting! Very friendly woman who helped us out with everything. Definitely worth the stop!

Yelp
Anytime we are headed out to explore the Mt. Rainier area, we always pass by here. So convenient - great place to pick up some fruit, canned preserves or farm fresh produce. But the biggest draw for me is their fantastic tap selection! This place changed ownership recently, so if you haven't been back in awhile, pay them another visit. The couple that owns it are very friendly & knowledgeable. Really happy to be getting such great service here once again!
google avatar

Amanda A.

Yelp
Amazing staff and really great variety. They even have a root beer for the kids. Their cider is available to taste before you buy.

Yelp
The best selection and variety of beer in all of Enumclaw. Absolutely the go to place for filling growlers. (my first choice would be fill's but right now their hours are very predictable. This place however has very stable, predictable hours) Be warned rock Ridge country market is known for impulse items. So if you think you're coming in for just a growler of beer, or some of their homemade root beer, be prepared you might be also walking out with a jar of their homemade salsa. Great customer service too! The owners are legit.

Yelp
Love this place! There's always something new and recently they have added some of my local favorites, great beer selection and I always look forward to seeing misty and mercy.

Yelp
Wow. Misty is a class act. Free samples of delicious salsa, dog friendly farmers market AS WELL as 50+ beers on tap. Along with some of the most popular beers in WA Misty's husband makes wine and cider himself. Such a great place with a ton of selection for food and alcohol. 10/10 would recommend, a PERFECT date if you live in Enumclaw or are passing through. Misty is so friendly and passionate about her business. We also made two friends in Mercy and Leo, the neighborhood pups! Thank you again Misty.

Yelp
New location! They have moved from the farm to a store on the main road between Enumclaw and Black Diamond. This is an absolut must stop. The owner, Judy, is absolutely the nicest, knowledgeable "farmer" you will ever come across. The have the most incredible products. The honey is the BEST that you will ever find (it's pricey at $10 a jar but it is liquid gold.....). There cider's are wonderful. The produce is fantastic (they specialize in apples, pears and asian pears). The are also a winery - my favorite is the dessert wine. It is worth a special trip out to Enumclaw just to come here. I'm so excited about their new store. I will never be without excellent honey and apples again!

Yelp
Phenomenal selection and the owner is a delight to chat with. I love the locally sourced meats, cheeses and brews. It was our first time there, but we will definitely be back... support local business and here is a business worth supporting!!

Meredith S.

Yelp
Could be so good...but it's not. Stopped there for first time. Bought some of their small batch sodas, two Penny's Salsa and Chips, and a bouquet of Farmers Market Flowers she said her husband bought at end of day the day before. Salsas were both 2 months out of date, and flowers lasted only two days ($16!). Sodas were good. I won't go back.

James J.

Yelp
The couple that runs this shop is amazing!! Very knowledgeable on all the beers an ciders they have on tap. Even have a wide CBD assortment and great local produce. I drive 30 minutes out of my way just to stop by! Come support some local great people!

James B.

Yelp
Great little Market, Awesome selection of fresh Cider. local Produce, eggs and cheese. Picked up some Cider and Apple butter jam for my mom she loves it. Also they have the best Garlic dip just can't find that in a box store anymore. Serves was great. Thanks

Yelp
It has been a pleasure to watch the evolution of this business from small road side fruit stand into one of Enumclaw's most treasured specialty retailers of beer, cider, and gourmet foods. They still have a great selection of food, fresh fruits and veggies, but the main reason we go there is the beer and cider. I think they have over 50 taps now, with dedicated gluten free taps, a big selection of ciders, and probably 30 - 40 regular beer taps. The selection is fantastic. They are starting to produce some of their own house ciders and beers, so the fact that they have a tasting room is wonderful. You can taste something you like, fill your growler, and take it home right away. They have a good selection of growlers to purchase if you don't already have one. They are warm, friendly, and very knowledgeable about what's in the taps. A hidden gem that is becoming less and less hidden.

Yelp
There's no grade between a "meh" and "okay" or I'd have given it to Rockridge orchards.I should have known something was up when I bounced and rattled through their potholed parking lot. I know it's Enumclaw, but c'mon, gravel is sold everywhere. When I got in, it was a big hangar like place full of food. Unfortunately most of the food was stuff I didn't want. Like pre-packaged candy, frozen pre-packaged pies and cobblers (could they price it any higher? They're obviously going for the tourist crowd) wildly overpriced honey and cider. I'd stopped in for their "fresh" asparagus and the woman gives me this long spiel about how it won't be woody (is asparagus woody? I've never had that problem before) and it's been kept in water, and the only reason they have three skinny bundles is because it sells so well. I bought some (way overpriced again), got it home and yeah--you saw it coming right? It was so woody I felt like someone was trying to give me a mouth piercing. I couldn't eat any of it and spit it out. I've never had asparagus splinters before. Fibrous, yes. Woody, no. It was pretty and I'm a big fan of farm stands, but I'm not a fan of this stand. I've seen the guy's name in the news a lot, talking about taking his produce to the farmer's markets. Maybe he needs to spend some time at home.

Yelp
Cute and country-style taphouse and a little shop right along 169 for all of your growler fills! The folks here have 60-65 different taps at any one time, and are more than willing to let you sample as many as you want. Also check out the keg closet to see how they make their system work. They typically have about 50 or so taps from other cideries or breweries and 10-15 of their own as well. Seasonal beers take a major part, but they have an even collection of styles that are on tap year-round (even porters in the summertime and IPA's or pilsners in the winter). Best part - open 9am to 9pm. Every Day. Yes, that includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, the 4th, and everything in between.

Yelp
Awesome store! Many local products and produce. Local cider, beer and wine. Friendly employees and you can get your own containers filled with beer or cider. Pumpkins are reasonably priced and great place for kids.

Yelp
This is why I love living in Enumclaw, because of businesses like this. I can stop in here on my way home for everything from fruit to wine to dairy and know that it is fresh and local. The atmosphere is welcoming and no matter who is working (but it's more often than not the owner Judy) they are friendly and knowledgeable. And, speaking of knowledgeable the bonus to stopping here is the gardening and orchard advice from Judy and/or her husband. They are like having a gardening encyclopedia in your back pocket. Worth a drive if you've never checked this out and worth another drive if you have in the past. Judy is always adding new things (try the local honey mustard horseradish sauce!) Oh, and the best thing, open 7 days a week!

Yelp
Love the tasting room; and hoping for a liquor license to serve drinks soon. It was a disappointment to have a taste; only to realize that we couldn't order a glass full of the cider. I'll be back!

Yelp
I can only review the dessert wines as thats all I've had. They're awesome. Tayberry, blackberry and raspberry wines could be poured over ice cream. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Kids introduced us to it, then I saw on the bottle it was made in Enumclaw, where we live. Did a little more research and found out they were buying the local farmers market down the road. Winning! We stop by, probly too often, buying these yummy dessert wines.

Erica F.

Yelp
Love this place! It's definitely worth stopping. There is a nice assortment of items in the farmstand, all at good prices, but the ciders are the star. The ciders are delicious - well worth sampling, and picking up a few bottles to take home.

DeVon M.

Yelp
This weekend I was attending a street fair where they had a stand. I sampled their juice and attempted to purchase a gallon but a female employee she was rude and condescending when I asked her a few questions about the various types of ciders they had so I set the bottle down and left. They have good ciders but need new employees more interested in there jobs
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
Stopped by one day to try the ciders. They were to die for, the berry cider and the raspberry wine were the best. Another time I came in I was looking for pumpkin bread mix. The lady there helped me pick out a great mix and taught me how to cook a pumpkin to put in it. Turned out amazing!!! I enjoy coming here the staff is very friendly and very helpful!
google avatar

Yelp
Great fruit stand with an amazing micro brew selection in the cold cases. Hundreds to choose from. They also have great growler fill prices. Worth stopping in- not much to see from the road, but they have an awesome selection of produce and beer.

Stephen H.

Yelp
Biased review to follow... I'm a big fan of Rockridge. We visit them regularly at the West Seattle Farmer's Market, and have been out to the farm a few times. They always have a nice word to put you in a better mood, and great stories to boot. The soft ciders are all very good, and the Rocksalmic Vinegar is almost good enough for an ice cream topping. The wines the have are very nice, and can also be used as mixers. The Sweet Raspberry Wine mixed with Cream Soda is magical! I've never been a hard cider aficionado, so can't comment on their selection of such, but am really looking forward to some of their other upcoming hard product that is still in the aging process... Pear Brandy! When in season they also have Bamboo Shoots, some wonderful apples and Asian pears, lots of varieties of raw honey. I look forward to visiting with Wade whenever I am at the market!

Lani T.

Yelp
This place is lovely! We stopped for a cider testing and we're not disappointed. Not only is their cider delicious but they have a ton of other beers and ciders on tap and are so gracious about giving tastes and telling you all about them. The daughter of the original owners served us and was warm and informative. Totally festive and wonderful.

Melissa D.

Yelp
This place was awesome. Wonderful selection of beer and cider. They have a lot of variety. The woman working was super friendly too!
google avatar

Yelp
I thought I'd lost my taste for beer. Friends traveling through Washington found this place and let me sample the selections they'd bought. I immediately bought more. Love the beer, the selection, the prices.

Julie B.

Yelp
A friend sends this to me as a gift and wow! Love their Rocksalmic Vinegar. I drink it with a shotglass as a highlight of my day. Tastes like fruity pear and peach nectar.

Jeff O.

Yelp
Great beer selection, made a special trip out there for some knee deep brewing beer they had on tap. I got the beer but the lady behind the bar is so horrible I will never go back, rude, condescending, bitch, don't waste your time.

Camber N.

Yelp
I love this place! The folks who work here know their stuff and are super friendly. The cider is great (regular and hard) and if you unsure about what to get, you can sample just about anything. An addition of gift baskets with a variety of products including local jams, ciders, nuts, smoked salmon, etc. are an easy gift of great local products for a great price. I couldn't find the right mix of products for my gift basket, so the owner made one for me.

Yelp
Great Products! Wine, hard cider, beer, vegitables, fruit, juice, berries, jams, gluten free products, backing goods, and beans.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Really like the RO Balsamic (Cider) vinegar and the honey. And now they also have a tasting room with wine and beer tasting and growler fills! Great selection of bottled (interesting) beers.

Gregory S.

Yelp
I had a bad experience here about a year ago. The beer I got was flat. I recently went back and the beer I bought was served from a dirty tap, that taste is unique to an avid beer drinker. It's too bad because they have such a great selection of awesome beers. A monthly tap and line clean is so important to protect that investment. I also purchased a bottle which was dated 2014. Shame on me not for checking while there.

kate e.

Yelp
Really good selection of high quality food items at this stand. The cider and the honey are the best I've ever had. I'm also a huge fan of their jams and fruit butters. The REAL treats are the Japanese cucumbers and their Asian pears. They have the largest selection of pears I've ever seen and they are superior.

Vibrant Q.

Yelp
Does anyone even know this place exists? This place has double-digit numbers of beers, ciders and root on tap, in addition to boasting a hefty selection of craft beers. . And some groceries too, incase you're hungry. And if you are lucky, the farm cat will come up . . and kiss you! Not only does enumclaw boast the most gorgeous views of the cascades in the state. . Its got this place in its pocket. Make a crispy fall day trip!
