Terrible! The staff are extremely rude, but the management even more so. I had a minor complaint about my cabin and the head manager was very rude and dismissive. My complaint was never addressed. The food is awful, and the activities dull and tiresome. There are so many beautiful places on Squam lake, I suggest elsewhere.

Still the best! Been coming here for 45 years for family reunions. You should not come here if you can't go a day without being connected to the Internet. There is strong Internet access at the office but that's it. If you just sit there on your device all day, some people will look at you and wonder why you showed up. Weak cell signal and Wi-Fi elsewhere, if any. This is a rustic family camp and has stayed relatively unchanged since I was a kid, minus some bathroom upgrades and accessibility updates in some of the cabins as well as pickleball courts. You should expect to remain analog during your visit... Go outside and do stuff. Swim, boat, play sports, do organized activities. There is no air conditioning or heat, light a fire in the morning and evening if you're chilly. There are box fans in every bedroom. The outdoor crew restocks your wood and kindling daily, as well as the chunks of lake ice for your old school icebox. No refrigerators in your cabin. Lots of helpful staff around everywhere. Disconnect and enjoy! Did I mention no Wi-Fi? Stop looking at your phone and look at nature! Your eyes will adjust!

I have been coming to this camp for 40+ years. Just left the camp a week ago for my summer visit. The cabins can accommodate 2 people up to 15/20. They are rustic with all of the amenities. The staff cleans the cabin and delivers fresh towels, firewood, ice blocks from the lake daily. Most cabins have big screened in porches to sit, relax and admire the beautiful lake. Organized activities include cookouts, wacky canoe, sailing, capture the flag, ultimate frisbee, softball, tennis, pickle ball, ping pong, crafts, yoga, shore swims, island picnics, and much more. The per night fee includes all of this plus 3 prepared meals per day. The good is really good and offers much variety for those with dietary restrictions. See you next year!

This is not your typical resort. Put your phones and iPads away as service can be spotty anyways. The idea is to completely disconnect. Read a book or play board games with family. Wake up early or sleep in. Stay up late with a fire or go to bed early. Go on a hike or play tennis or pickleball. Sit on your dock or go for a boat ride. It’s not for everyone but the people who get it come back every year for generations.

We’ve been going to RDC for more than a decade and it’s one of our family’s great highlights of the year. The cabins are rustic but grand, the staff couldn’t be nicer, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Our kids and other friends have loved being there, and we end each summer there eager to return next year. (The food’s maybe not the most fantastic, but it’s totally good and fine and there’s plenty of ice cream.)

My family has been going to RDC for longer than I can remember. We always have an amazing time, and the staff are very friendly. There are many great options for activities to do daily, and there are some great hiking trails within driving distance. The only thing I would change if I could is the food. It isn't terrible, but it also isn't something you look forward to on the trip. Either way, the dining options will not make or break your vacation. I defiantly recommend coming to RDC for a nice getaway. It's a perfect place for one couple, or for tons of friends.

One-of-a-kind lake experience that takes you back to an earlier era. Like summer camp for families. Private cabin and dock. Many activities. Friendly people and staff.

In my opinion this is one of the best family-oriented, rustic resort in New England. I have been visiting this historic resort for over 25 years, and hopefully many more. If your family needs a break from computers, cell phones, and re-connect with nature, this is the place to go.

Yelp
My family and I have gone to RDC for many years. For many years it was a truly wonderful getaway. I have hesitated to write this review, but unfortunately since the previous general manager left, it is not the same at all. The charm is gone, the staff don't seem as happy, the prices continue to skyrocket despite quality retreating. The only food option is buffet, and there are no safety protocols or cleanliness at all. Many times I have witnessed people grabbing food with their bare hands in front of management with nothing done about it. This is not good at all considering the pandemic we are currently facing. There have been multiple cases of norovirus that management has covered up, putting further guests at risk. The cabins have amazing views, but you'd be better off camping near a lake. It's essentially the same experience with the filth, rodents and dead bugs all over the place. The beds are extremely old and uncomfortable. They are all twins so good luck getting cozy with anyone. There are a lot better options.

Yelp
I went here with a family that has been coming here for years. I was impressed by the scenery but the actual experience left much to be desired. Several nights out of our week-long stay we had to drive 20+ minutes into town just to get adequate calories in the day, despite management claiming a "full service dining" experience. They rarely offered food that we could eat (non-dairy) despite telling us they could accommodate our diet when we called months in advance. The waste management was even worse - EVERYTHING was wrapped in plastic, despite RDC calling itself an environmentally-friendly establishment. The facility also offers very little in the way of upkeep, so despite charging customers the same amount as years prior, there were no cleaning services and the rec activities suffered.

Yelp
I recently went here for a group retreat. I'd looked online for info before I went and wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was pretty amazing. The facilities were clean, the staff was helpful, and the property is pretty spectacular. In the morning, I sat on the bench outside the dining hall until people started gathering and it got too loud for me. Then I wandered over and sat on the dock to stare at the lake. I went for walks with friends, sat on the porch of the house I was staying in, and had a pretty fabulously relaxing time. As a vegan, I wasn't sure how much I'd be able to eat here so I brought a ton of food. When I tried to find out what I could eat at dining hall, a chef came out and offered to make me food!! Because they seemed so busy, after that I just made do with the available options which were enough. I told my family all about this place and we look forward to visiting together in the future.

Yelp
I have been going here with my family since I was 2. Amazing accommodations, friendly staff, and one of the most relaxing places on earth. For those looking to take a family vacation, there is no better place than RDC!

Yelp
went out there for a wedding over the weekend. Amazing view and wonderful food. The staff were friendly.
