"Dallas’s Rodeo Bar in the Adolphus Hotel is back, as of today: this iconic circa-1981 Texas watering hole is opening January 10 after a major renovation. Located at 1321 Commerce Street, the new Rodeo Bar is trying to capture the swagger of the original, right down to the floors. The bar served drinkers ice cold beers for four decades before closing in 2018, and now this revamp includes a new menu, new decor, and a new expansion called The Back Room, all via a partnership with hospitality company Makeready and private investment firm Rockbridge. The no-nonsense bar will focus on smash-style burgers, which were popular in its original incarnation. Options include the “El Tejano,” a smoked brisket burger with bread and butter pickles, sliced onions, and jalapeño ranch or the “Tommy Ranger” with Texas chili and American cheese. Besides burgers, entrees include fried chicken and burnt ends sandwiches, hot dogs, and Texas chopped beef, and taco salad. Order snacks to share like guacamole and green chili queso, nachos, buttermilk chicken wings, or made-in-house corndogs. Banana pudding, churro sundaes, soft serve, and Dr. Pepper floats all make the dessert menu. Miller Lite, Yuengling, Pacifico and Shiner Bock will be on draft, along with local beers and a list of no-frills cocktails. That will include the “Real Cold Cocktail” with whiskey and Dr. Pepper; a “Rodeo ‘Rita” with tequila, orange liqueur, lime, tajin rim; and the “Saddle Up” with tequila, grapefruit, lime, and soda. To capture the old-meets-new vibe, Dallas-based design team SWOON the Studio brought in a mix of vintage and refurbished booths, tables, and chairs for the 95-seat restaurant (and the original floors from the old place). Decor includes neon beer bar lights from the ‘80s, vintage rodeo posters, and memorabilia preserved from the original Rodeo Bar. Diners will be able to play darts or pool and pick tunes on a jukebox. Rodeo Bar’s hours for now are Sunday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Friday to Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., with lunch hours to follow soon." - Adele Chapin

Rodeo Goat, Rodeo Dallas, Rodeo Bar—it's easy to mix them up. But Rodeo Bar, nestled in the corner of The Adolphus Hotel, stands out as a classy yet unassuming spot. It's the perfect place for a beer and a burger, and a picture to prove you visited a Texas bar. Just don’t expect to see horses outside or people in cowboy boots and hats—you’d have better luck with that in Fort Worth, where people really embrace the Western vibe (and do a better job entertaining tourists looking for that). This bar is ideal for grabbing a draft Community beer, snacking on something, and moving on after checking out the AT&T Discovery Center and its can't-miss giant building-sized screen. The flip side review: - It’s still a hotel bar, so expect hotel bar prices. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find many cans for just five bucks. - Sometimes there are homeless people outside, which can be a bit off-putting. I wish they had security like The Mitchell and other nearby bars to avoid being harassed on the way in through the wobbly revolving door. Summary: Rodeo Bar is a solid choice for a laid-back experience in a sophisticated setting, especially after a day of exploring downtown Dallas. Just be prepared for the usual hotel bar quirks and the occasional street hassle. Make sure to ask for Kier - a great bartender!

I was not expecting a Texas-themed bar in a fancy hotel to be this good, but damn. Excellent cocktails, and the food was fantastic. I cannot emphasize enough how good the coleslaw was.

My friends and I went here on a Saturday night and had a blast. We just found it on Google and it looked like it had good drinks (which it did) and there just so happened to be live music as well. The Taste Experience Band was there and they are AMAZING! The food my friends got looked good but I didn’t have any. Definitely a great bar hop place, you might end up staying the whole night like we did.

Google
Hubby and I enjoyed our date night a few days ago at the infamous Rodeo Bar. The atmosphere was amazing. The Rodeo Bar staff and patrons were super friendly and fun. We shared the Rodeo Nachos with chicken. OH MY GOSH... We are still licking our fingers... LoL! When you're downtown or want to paint the town Texas Style...You MUST visit the RODEO BAR and Grill. You won't be disappointed! 🤠🍽️

Google
Across from AT&T plaza in the heart of downtown, Rodeo Bar provides a comfortable no thrills environment reminiscent of your favorite hometown dive. The venue's inviting and laid-back environment has plenty of seating surrounded by Texas themed decor. While the main area is hosting live music, the back rooms offer an opportunity to play pool and darts, next to their functioning jukebox. Opportunity for improvement: Food quality (chili) + service

Nikki

Google
The Rodeo nachos with chicken was different. Was filling and tasty. Large portion. Friendly staff. Service was great. They are facing the AT&T District. So nice scenery.

My experience at Rodeo Bar and Grill was incredible, all thanks to my awesome server Nate. His energy was contagious, and his food recommendations were spot-on. The chili? Absolutely amazing—perfectly spiced. And the cornbread was a fantastic complement, all fluffy and delicious. But the real star was the secret burger he suggested—it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. This experience overall made my night. If you’re looking for great food and an even better experience, definitely ask for Nate when you visit!

I stopped by Rodeo Bar while waiting for friends to arrive from out of town for a conference. The happy hour food was pretty good. For the price, it was great. However, the happy hour beer prices were the same as the regular draft beer prices, no savings there. I was impressed by the chili, which was much better than I expected from a restaurant. I also loved the "pink drink" gin cocktail. Of course, it wasn't on happy hour but it was phenomenal. I'll go back just for that. Service was good from the dude bartender. Both of the ladies disappeared for stretches. I told one I'd like to order food and she didn't even give me a menu until she had made a round of the entire bar. It was another long wait to place my order. I wasn't alone. Until the new guy came on shift, it was a hard bar to get a drink in.

Yelp
Wow, what an awesome bar with some real history! Live music, nice busy crowd, and despite it all pulled together some great food and efficient service. One free drink per night if you are a guest at the Adolphus hotel. Bar gets busier around 10pm. Lots of special events at the hotel have people start trickling in as the festivities die down. Do yourself a favor and stop by this historic watering hole!

Breona A.

Yelp
Story of my life, I came in for Happy Hour and I didn't know what I wanted. I had just stopped for a margarita before checking out Rodeo bar so I asked Kier to keep the same flavor profiles and keep it tequila based. We had a good time chatting with great banter the entire visit. He was a great bartender with tons of great energy!

Dorie B.

Yelp
Came here with a large group from out of town, food and drinks were excellent. Very solid burger and fries. Fun drinks, the frozen Dr Pepper (has whisky) was not my normal choice of drink but it was quite good. Our group sort of took over the basement but let me tell you, our server was AMAZING! I was moving from group to group and he always found me to get me my drinks, the tabs were all perfect even with all the moving around and we never went without. He brought on help at some point and that young lady killed it too. Very impressed! There is a pool table in the basement.

Dez V.

Yelp
Chicken fried steak was flavorless, cooked good but no flavor! The gravy was good.. Chili dog was good. Wings are good . Wish they had more than two flavors. Service was 2/5. He didn't want to be there and even asked us to complain on him so he could leave early. Ambiance was nice.

Jen P.

Yelp
Great chili cheese fries, added chopped onions. Very friendly service and delicious drinks. Great location. Highly recommend.

Chloe T.

Yelp
If you're staying at the Adolphus or visiting the AT&T District, the Rodeo Bar is very convenient for you. Stop by and grab a drink or maybe even a small bite to eat

K D.

Yelp
Food is very good and the location is fun. Right across the street from ATT plaza with lots going on But skip the banana pudding

Catherine W.

Yelp
The Rodeo Bar is such a fun, unexpected spot in the basement of the Adolphus Hotel. After walking through the gorgeous Adolphus Hotel, we stopped at the Rodeo Bar for a drink and it did not disappoint. I had a couple of the frozen whiskey sours and they were delicious!! The ambiance was unmatched and there was plenty of space to gather with your group. I highly recommend!

Ali R.

Yelp
Cool bar. Comfy seats. Good food and drinks. Helpful and friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

Catherine A.

Yelp
A trip to Dallas without eating several times at the rodeo bar in the Fabulous Adolphus Hotel is not to be missed. Service is always sweet, food is very good, wine margaritas excellent. Have been going to the rodeo bar for at least 30 years in all of its form.

Ed T.

Yelp
Food is great Shout out to the hostess Blu who recommended an amazing meal. Chicken sandwich with a side of pickled jalapeños

Annette B.

Yelp
Banana pudding amazing desert fun atmosphere. Walked in ask about desert so yummy fun place with great service

Jessica H.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of state. We came to this area by chance and we were hungry We stopped into this restaurant/bar and the ambiance was good. The service was pretty good our waiter was good. We ordered steak plates and burger meal plates. The food comes in all portions but it is good. It isn't to die for but we certainly enjoyed our food and time here for a late night dinner. I would certainly recommend this place.

Deborah L.

Yelp
Super fun cute chill place with quick friendly service and delicious food. Clean too. Try the burger.

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Rodeo bar rocks! They have late night eats and drinks. I was so sad because I wanted to try their frozen whiskey sour but they sold out pretty early in the night. The staff here was really nice and I wish I didn't discover this place on my last night in Dallas. If I'm ever in the city again I will forsure be by again. The music also was good!

Kelsey K.

Yelp
Came here last night after a cocktail at the coco lounge. The ambiance was cute very country themed with matching music playing throughout. Pretty good happy hour menu as well. I got the pink drink which was tasty and my boyfriend the slow fashioned which he liked! We split a tasty but small order of fries. Would stop in again if we were in the area

R J.

Yelp
Guess we miss the point in many of the reviews, since the only reason we would return would be for drinks. Do agree that the service was pleasant & efficient & we like the local atmosphere, but we certainly not impressed by any of the food we tried. A SMALL cup of frozen french fries for $7 is a total rip off, even for those of us who love The Adolphous Hotel & do not mind paying for top quality.

Alexia G.

Yelp
Hours show until midnight and they were closed at 10. It's important to update the hours. Uber rides wasted.

Vic C.

Yelp
Dropped in for Happy Hour & was totally impressed with the Whiskey Sour frozen drink! It was AWESOME!!! I HIGHLY recommend it. Stsff was friendly & added to the over all experience. Cheers!

Stephen W.

Yelp
Located in the Adolphus hotel, we stopped here for an after dinner drink on a Sunday night and the bar was completely empty at 6:30-6:45-ish. I was surprised, given how busy the hotel was. Maybe everyone was at the pool drinking... Anyway, we enjoyed our quiet time. The service was friendly. My beer was good, and the price was reasonable for a hotel ($6 for a can of IPA). The wife asked for a sweet drink (the Slinger) but it was more sour than sweet. A bit pricey at $13. I would go here again if we stay at the Adolphus in the future.

Carla O.

Yelp
A Downtown Dallas favorite! We go to downtown several times a year for a great night out on the town & we ALWAYS start @ The Rodeo Bar! The Rodeo Burger or The Hook'em are the Best! Blu has been on staff for many years & she's a main reason we visit! She feels like family & the entire staff are friendly and laid back!

Anthony S.

Yelp
Good bar food. The live music was outstanding. Service was good.great ambiance. The price was average for a big city bar, maybe slightly les expensive.

Kaushik N.

Yelp
First night stepping into Dallas and staying at the Adolphus Hotel, didn't even realize Rodeo bar was part of the hotel itself but glad we made a stop. It has a old school diner type theme from the outside and great ambiance inside. It is self seating and server comes to take your order. It was a little confusing as to where to go be seated but we made our way. Food and drinks were amazing! I have to say the wings are a definite must. Only downfall was that I thought on the menu it said 12 or 13 wings for $6 dollars but it was the other way around haha. Overall it was delicious. Drinks are good as well and strong(had Pink Drink). Ordered the salmon pasta and salmon was great! Pasta on the bottom was very bland and plain nothing special about it. The Banana pudding was a hit definitely a must to order after dinner. Now I did notice that it took awhile for the food to come out and service was okay but couldve been better. Our server came to check on us maybe two times and that was only to take orders. I hope next time they can be a bit more attentive. I would be sure to come back.

Yelp
My flight flew in from SFO to DFW at about 10:30pm and I didn't get to my hotel until after 11pm. I was so hungry and the restaurant (Jaxon) I originally wanted to go had already stopped serving food. I turned around and found Rodeo Bar. Ordering was easy at the back counter and the friendly staff member explained I could seat myself. The burnt ends sandwich $12 was excellent. It had a good smokey flavor without too much sauce. Their nachos $13 were delicious. It was poured over with beans, chili, salsa and sour cream. The secret to good nachos is retaining the crispiness of the chips with all the wet ingredients. No one likes soggy nachos. Good job chef and staff at Rodeo Bar.

Jeanne T.

Yelp
I didn't have food but the service was amazing. They're were so friendly and welcoming. Now the vibes are where it is at. They were celebrating Willie Nelson's bday' Great photo ops.

Tammie G.

Yelp
What a great spot right in downtown - (parking Can be problematic). It's a cool little venue to make you feel like you stepped back in time in Texas The decor is vintage rodeo. Staff is very helpful They have a daily happy hour from 4 to 6 Monday through Friday this is connected to the Adolphus hotel but also has its own street entrance. dress is casual don't forget your cowboy boots !! Food is delish! Not sure how they season the fry's but you gotta try 'em!!

Steve T.

Yelp
The bartender served us 1 beer gave us menus then never came back to check on us in 30 minutes. Asked for our bill for the 2 drinks and he comes over and basically threw it at us and didn't even say thanks for coming or anything

Michael C.

Yelp
We will return for the Bloody Mary. Thanks to Madison for making us both feel welcome in our hour of need (hangover from one eyed penguin).

KR T.

Yelp
Yummy Gastropub food and excellent service. Definitely get an old-fashioned. The bartender knows what they're doing. We had the burger plus the chili fries plus the banana pudding yummy ...our server Dru was so sweet. Excellent service!!! Please ask for him when you come in.

Cody M.

Yelp
Had a great time eating delicious Queso. Tavi was a great server who was quick and attentive. Fun bar with cool basement game room with pool and darts.

Frank H.

Yelp
I really was hoping to have a great experience but it was average at best. The layout of the restaurant was a little odd where the booths are fixed so if you have a large group its hard to get everyone together. They'll split into multiple booths. The one HIGHLIGHT is the Downstairs. They do have a large table downstairs and its a pretty cool area with dartboards and jukebox. Food was ok. Average tasting. Average to small portion. And overpriced in my opinion. Service I thought was very good! We were taken care of pretty well. And we were downstairs. Overall, it was ok.

Hannah S.

Yelp
Yee-haw! This bar is attached to The Adolphus -- it's steady for a late night beer and round of pool with its rowdy cool cowboy vibes. They have burgers, nachos, fries and some other basic bites. Nothing special, but makes a late night better! The bartenders and bar backs were all great and helped the giant wedding party I was apart of every night with poise. Everyone appreciated y'all very much!

MV D.

Yelp
Good food, excellent service, decent ambiance due to mirrored windows across AT&T Discovery district and perfect location to chill. Our server Mary was awesome!

Collin R.

Yelp
service is great! Kier was a fantastic bartender And provided great recommendations!

David M.

Yelp
We stopped at the Rodeo Bar last week when visiting the AT&T Discovery District which is right across the street. We had a few drinks and an order of sweet chile garlic wings which were EXCELLENT. Really tasty and not fatty. The bartender Dru was very cool and talkative. The interior is decorated very upbeat. We'll definitely go back when in the area.

Angelika S.

Yelp
Frozen Whiskey sour was the ultimate best. May have to travel back from DC for seconds.

Karen G.

Yelp
Bartender was snarky. Ordered a Truly and response was "Nope". "Nope what?" "Nope, do you understand what nope means?" Apparently they do not serve sparkling spiked drinks. Seriously? Missing the mark Rodeo, most of my young professional female friends drink sparkling drinks to avoid a beer belly. Nice location and food but the attitude of the bartender isn't encouraging people to return or speak highly of your bar.

Dr. Gee G.

Yelp
Good food , location, the cloud and ambience. Beautiful place on Lake Ray Hubbard in Rockwall, Texas

Sarah A.

Yelp
Had an amazing time here. Such great vibes - the ambiance is a unique play on the classic Texas, country vibes but in a more elevated way. Hunter at the bar was super fun, knowledgeable, and an amazingly talented mixologist - he was a major part of why we had such a good time. He recommended great selections and introduced us to some new drinks - he made me a custom drink with pineapple, ginger and basil ..... and it should have a permanent place on the menu because it was so delicious, like one of the best drinks I've ever had. We were mainly there for drinks so the only food we tried was chips with salsa and queso and that was yummy. Will definitely be back!

Ginger B.

Yelp
Apparently the staff can only service one customer at a time even though there are three of them. And can only do one task at a time. I have now been sitting here for 10 minutes - took 5 to be acknowledged even though the person busy folding napkins said 'sit anywhere' when I came in. Have not yet been asked for my order. She takes an order, makes their drink, rings it up, has not yet taken orders from me or another person. We are all sitting at the bar within 5 feet of each other. The patron next to me had the unfortunate luck to order a fried chicken sandwich and the fryer died just after my fries came out. I had finished my order before anyone noticed she still didn't have food. So the bar staff brought her nachos until her lunch came out. Now, they could have come out as soon as the fryer blew to see if she wanted to change her order. When she got her food, the fries were cold (but the chicken was hot!). I paid cash for my lunch and the change was $12.24. But only $12 arrived with the bill. I nearly picked up the $1 I planned to leave but decided to let her keep the $.24 for an 18% tip. All that, a very nice person, who comped me some hot tea (thereby earning additional tip) since I have been waiting for a room for over 2 hours and we are now well past the 'normal' check-in time.

Travis S.

Yelp
GOD SAVE THE RODEO BAR. This place absolutely fucks. Rodeo burger fries corn dog green chilli queso and jalapeño ranch chicken salad were the menu items we got and my lord was this place a amazing. Cool people, dope downstairs bar area where it's a bit cooler temperature wise and there is darts and a pool table. Located next to the adolphus hotel The Rodeo Bar is a new staple to my life. The burger is low key one of the best I've had in Dallas. My babe and I came here and it was such a good evening. I'm coming back as soon as I can. boilermakers god the night started and the cocktails were great, the only bad thing I can say is that the draft beer selection was down and they would have had shiner bock on draft which would have made me salivate more but no worries just means I need to come back soon. Dope t shirts to take home with you. GOD SAVE THE RODEO BAR. Thank you God. Cheers.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
Interesting very tourist Texas type bar - cute little game room is down the stairs with pool and darts so don't miss out on that. I went for a team night in a Tuesday and it was easy to get a table for 6. Staff was great - there is no servers and you order at the food or drinks bar, which is unique but makes things move fast. Food - if you're looking for a healthy option this ain't your place. Our group got a lot of different options: burnt ends sandwich, fries, nachos, the tejano burger, the rodeo burger, the hanger, the carne asada...not to mention banana pudding and apple streusel pie (skip those). Drinks were a little expensive - all cocktails at 12-16 dollars with a $20 ranch water (SKIP). All other cocktails like the spicy Lucy, their version of a Paloma, old fashioned, etc. good cocktails. Make sure to stir the whiskey frozen drink... Ambiance was good and overall, would go back on a cheat day!

Annette S.

Yelp
The service was quick, efficient and everyone was nice however my food was not great at all.

Ruby L.

Yelp
Wow. Surprisingly delicious. We came here for lunch only because the Exchange Hall was closed for a private party. The rodeo burger was simple and satisfying, with a smashed burger patty, pickles, sauce and soft roll. It's a bit on the small side but the quality and taste make up for it. Their chili in the cheese fries and nachos were the best I've had in so long. Even after having burgers, bbq and Tex-Mex for 10 days in Dallas, we still really enjoyed our lunch! Would definitely come back!

Flordia H.

Yelp
This ridiculous service and service is lacking so bad and I went here couple weeks ago and the service and this place is ridiculous customer service and this place I wouldn't recommend at all and because they charge you for service fee and which is so tacky and the service is so poor and I wouldn't recommend this place at all least clean up your service and etc. the drinks taking for very long time. Me and my friend have some food and we asked for water like 6 times no attention and the server we are grabbing water, which is ridiculously and I have been trying not to get upset and but this place has always had terrible customer service

Anastasiya T.

Yelp
Cool place, delicious food, the best burgers downtown with no doubt! Clean, service is fast and staff is very friendly, helpful and pleasant! Must try

Mel N.

Yelp
I thought this place would have more reviews. On a weekend after lunch rush, there was NOBODY there. I was super surprised. Typically not a great sign. I thought people would be hanging out and having drinks, but they were all across the street at AT&T discovery district. It's a fast casual set up. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. But they bus your table for you, which was weird to me. The menu has some interesting options if you want burgers, fries, sandwiches. Got the Texas Ranger (?) chili burger ($11). They did say it's a smash burger meaning it's a small thin patty. I appreciated that heads up because it's not clear at all. I think the Big Tex ($16) is the only one that is what you think of a legit burger with an 8 oz patty. I was also surprised (and disappointed) that it didn't come with fries... I wish there was more chili, but other than that it was a good burger. My friend got the Big Tex and it was a good size but did seem a little overpriced. I know beef is expensive now, but still. And at that price point it should come with fries. It's not that obvious that it's a restaurant / bar with the coated windows. Interested to see if they'll survive and if it's busier during other times.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Great food and service. Sagar was wonderfully attentive and made sure that we were well taken care of throughout the evening.

Ashley L.

Yelp
The place is decorated so fun. The service, food, and drinks were all really well. Zach was a great help in recommending things.
