Yelp
I wanted to love this place, I really did.
Waking in, it was decorated very nice and seemed to be clean.
Let me start with service. If I was rating on service alone, it would easily be 5 stars. You walk in and order at the counter. The person working the counter was very nice and accommodating. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She made this experience so much better than it could have been otherwise.
As for the food. I'll break it down by what we ordered and rate each item on its own.
I ordered the two meat plate and a side of pastrami. It was Thursday and I HAD to try the pastrami. My plate consisted of:
Ribs - tender and had a decent flavor. Not great, but not bad. Nothing stood out about them.
Moist Brisket - this was a nope for me. Maybe it was too late in the day, but it was not good. You know its not good if you have to add sauce. There wasn't much flavor at all, and there was no smoke ring to speak of. Its like it was cooked in the oven. The slices were uneven and dry.
Pastrami - it was also dry, but had a much better flavor than the brisket had. Sadly, I was hoping that it would knock my socks off, but it didn't. It wasn't bad, just a bit too dry for my liking.
Potato salad - was a good solid potato salad. Was even better with their pickles mixed in for that little extra flavor. I wouldn't make a trip just for the potato salad, but if you're there, its a solid side.
Greens - probably the best side. They were seasoned and cooked really well. I enjoyed them.
Husband had:
Pulled pork sandwich - He said he could have had a better pulled pork sandwich if he had made it at home with the store bought pulled pork, and he's not one to complain.
Beef sausage link - he was on the fence, said it wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. I tried a piece of it, and it tasted good to me.
All and all, I was hoping for so much more. Maybe I went in with my expectations way too high, and I am a bit of a BBQ snob. So, this may be an outstanding place to other people, it just wasn't our cup of tea.
