"Housed in a 19th century building that has served, at various times, as a hotel, saloon, post office, stagecoach stop, and dance hall, Roepke’s has operated as a supper club since 1963. While it offers traditional supper club fare like steaks and prime rib, it’s best known for its German dishes, such as breaded veal cutlets topped with fried eggs, tenderloin tips a la Deutsch, and pork schnitzel. Some German dishes are offered nightly, but Wednesday is designated German night, with a featured Old World dish and soft Bavarian pretzels."

Had a reservation on Valentine's Day and everything was superb! The sautéed shrimp was my favorite. It was cooked perfectly and tasted so good! Our waitress Holly was very attentive. We loved the salad bar, especially the liver paste and Kraut. SO GOOD! We will most definitely be back. Thank you for a great date night dinner!

Google
Supper Club Tour #5 With over 1,000 Google reviews, for a 4.7 star rating, we decided this place needed to be checked out. Owned by the Roepke family since 1968, this Supper Club prides themselves on homemade recipes and fresh ingredients. They say the only things that aren’t made in house is the cottage cheese and ranch dressing! The salad bar has a bunch of things to choose from and you can really see that they strive for fresh and quality options. The French onion soup…look at that cheese stretch! The steaks were extremely tender and very very well seasoned. The scallops were unfortunately rubbery and sandy. The batter on the haddock was very light and thin but could have used some seasoning due to it being very bland. The fish was cooked well though. This place was worth the drive and very reasonably priced. If you don’t like the true Wisconsin experience of sitting around enjoying old fashioned drinks while waiting for your table to be ready, they do accept reservations. Spending the day North of Milwaikee, there is an array of supper clubs to choose from. Roepke's opens at 4pm on Saturdays, and we did not have reservations, so we showed up at 4:01p. There must have been 40 cars in the parking lot, and the bar was full. Locals must know what us out of towners did not. After a couple delicious old fashioneds, we were seated and soon after hit the salad bar. Regular salad items as well as pasta salad, cole slaw, tuna salad etc. I noticed the menu contained a variety of German specialties (schniztel), and if almost ordered them but had the broasted chicken. Perfect crunchy breading, hot, juicy, and exactly what I wanted. I also got to try the steak and parm crusted walleye. That was fantastic. Prime rib was perfect. Two pieces of fish were flaky and flavorful. For dessert i can recommend the rarely found German Chocolate Cheesecake. It is as good as it sounds.

Google
My expectations were not extremely high before visiting this restaurant, but after having some drinks at the bar and seeing the salad bar and food menu and experiencing how good everything was, I was amazed! This out of the way gem of a place is very special, including the people that have been in business there for over 50 years. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly and the service for the dinner was very good. I enjoyed the salad bar with all the different selections, including the liver pate. The French onion soup was amazing and so was the cowboy prime rib. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for Excellent food and friendly atmosphere. Google
We decided to take a 45 minute drive to try something new and were not disappointed! Ordered the Parmesan Walleye and Tenderloin with Coconut Shrimp. The food was excellent and service was good. Prices were about right. We would have liked to see a few more toppings on the salad bar (like shredded cheese, black olives and egg), but overall, a great experience! We will be back.

Google
Roepke's is one of our favorites! Great date night place. Steaks are amazing! The salad bar is really well done, better than almost any other salad bar we have had. We will continue to visit regularly. Always worth the drive!

Google
The BEST hidden gem! When you think you're lost, keep going. It's totally worth the drive! We came all the way from Madison just for this place, and it did not disappoint. Service was stellar. Thank you, Jude! Food was amazing. Everything we had was simply amazing. Prime rib, cocktails, Cole slaw, 7 layer chocolate cake... 10/10 Recommend!

Really good prime rib. Fantastic salad bar. Good prices and value for the amount of food that we received.

Yelp
Great food and fabulous service! It's a little out of the way but worth the drive for supper club experience!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Excellent food, great atmosphere. They were busy but knew how to handle the crowd so the experience was still top tier.

Yelp
We had a terrific time here with our party of eight. All the food was great, of course the old fashions and martinis terrific, and we just lovef the salad bar!

Yelp
This Wisconsin supper club is everything you want it to be--delicious food and all the supper club vibes, including a great bar when you walk in. The star of the show for me was the incredible salad bar. It had everything you could imagine: from kraut to pâté. The shrimp and the steak did not disappoint either. Friendly service too!

Gary D.

Yelp
Went to ROEPKE'S Village Inn on a Friday for dinner. Drinks at the bar to start and then dinner. Salad bar is great with one meal of a German type and one meal of a seafood type that were also great. Service was very good too. Selection of craft beers is fantastic. Definitely recommend this supper club.

Annette B.

Yelp
Loved the schnitzel here! I was also a HUGE fan of the salad bar--there were so many incredible salads and spreads to enjoy. It's so hard not to just fill up on the salad bar alone!

Timothy D.

Yelp
We started with amazing cocktails at the bar! Then the great salad bar & perfectly prepared tenderloin dinner entree! Our server Holly was very attentive to our needs!

Yelp
I hesitate to post this review because this restaurant does really great without the fanfare some other supper clubs around the state get. The packed parking lot, bar area and dining room are really the testament to how fantastic the food, drinks and service are at Roepke's. I've eaten here three times. I've enjoyed each experience and it now comes to mind every time I start to think about going out for dinner. After checking in at the hostess stand, get a drink from the bar. The bartenders are knowledgeable and pour a fine drink. The bar prices are reasonable. Once you are seated, the large menu will cause you to take some time to place an order. So many great meals to choose from; steaks, fish, German cuisine and pastas. There are some appetizer choices but the reality is that between the salad bar and entrees you'll get plenty to eat. Like the bartenders, the serving staff know the menu and are very helpful and attentive. Our table had a wide range of food. Prime rib, Parmesan encrusted walleye, chicken Alfredo, cashew encrusted chicken and the braised pork shank were enjoyed on our last visit. Each was of generous proportion and was well prepared. Take a look at the pictures I've attached to the review and tell me your mouth didn't water. They also have a really good website for you to check out before you go. Get out and enjoy this place; just leave room for me and my friends!

Yelp
A level above the rest ! Roepke's Village Inn ( IS ALL THAT That ! ) The first time my wife & I had supper there. We had the great pleasure of experiencing the outstanding prime Rib which could only be improved by the superior staff in the dining room and bar. Like I said a level above the rest for sure. They are a very busy Supper Club and worth every minute of the short wait as they move people through very fast with out affecting the quality of the service or the food that's A Wow factor ! , Since quality & quantity usually work against each other. But not here. If your ready to bring your dining experience your next level in your next evening out ? Call and set your next reservation with Roepke's Village Inn. It will earn your Favorite supper Club your very first visit , So it may be the only place for you going forward. A very great supper Club , So well done ! Jim & Kathy Rauhut

Yelp
F*ck yeah! Cheese salad is so silly. The liver pate is pretty gross though not gonna lie. Yummy after dinner milkshake cocktails I want more!!!!

Ross M.

Yelp
I liked the food the prices and service. Best homemade chilli. I would go back. It was best on a Friday night at 6. Lots of seating.

Greg D.

Yelp
Roepke's is great. It is the prototypical Wisconsin supper club and is our favorite. The food is great and the entire staff is upbeat and friendly. Consistent quality and reasonable prices. Try it. You'll like it.

Brady B.

Yelp
Strong pours up front, huge salad bar in middle and great entrees at the end....German influenced but other great flavors as well.....a definite go to when in the area!!

Samantha S.

Yelp
Excellent service all the way around-bar, table side, all great. Wonderful salad bar, great menu and good food. Nice drive.

Yelp
Roepke's Village Inn was recommended to us by a friend who knows how much we love Wisconsin Supper Clubs. We arrived just as the place was opening and I was impressed with how clean everything was. We talked to the bartender about getting a table and he directed my wife to the dinning room host. He said he'd call us as soon as the salad bar was setup. It didn't take long and we were seated. It's been a long time since I've had all of my favorites together on one salad bar. The kidney bean salad was excellent as well as the cheese spread and liver pâté. There really were no misses at all. I also wanted to try the crock of french onion soup but the pictures on Yelp showed it with the cheese on top not being browned. So, I asked our server if I could get it with the cheese placed under the broiler, she said no problem and it was fantastic. I ordered the Cowboy cut ribeye steak charred medium for my entree which was flavorful and prepared perfectly, my wife had the broiled walleye which she loved. We'll be back very soon.

Karen S.

Yelp
This place rocks! The food is amazing! Love the salad bar!! Definitely my go to place, to go out to eat!! Everyone is so friendly!

Yelp
Supper club circuit, this time Roepke's in Charlesburg. Worth the drive for sure. Got there when they opened and it filled up fast! Bartenders excellent and service also great! Soup and Salad bar was great and the tenderloin and haddock was also excellent. Hubby said lobster was good as well. Plus it had matchbooks like back in the day. Definitely would return.

Yelp
Roepke's was suggested to us by one of my husbands co-workers. We're always up for a classic Wisconsin supper club and decided to make the moderate (1.5 hour from MKE) drive to have a belated anniversary dinner. We were warned to arrive early - glad we did because by 5pm the place was pretty full. Lots of larger family groups which is always nice to see. Of course we started with old fashioneds ($4.50) which were just fine - you can even get Brussels sprouts as a garnish. I did and wished I hadn't - I think it's an acquired taste! Anyway, the menu has all your Supper Club Classics - fish fry Friday, prime rib Saturday, steaks, chops, surf n'turf. They also add some German specialties like schnitzels and pork shanks. According to our super nice server, they make pretty much everything in house. Dinners come with their "world famous salad bar" which is a nice spread of various mayo type salads, actual salad and the fixings to build your own relish tray which I happily did. Yay for both cheese spread and liver pate! The Mister opted for a crock of French onion (a mere $3) and it fulfilled the requirement of being mostly cheese and bread. For dinner, he had walleye and I had schnitzel aka Holstein ($18 for 2 large cutlets). The breading lacked seasoning overall but they were still plenty delicious and really not greasy. And the eggs on top looked farm fresh (nice orangey yolks!) and were perfectly cooked. We ended dinner with ice cream drinks to fill in the cracks - they were ok, not especially boozy. Service is absolutely delightful and most folks seem to be regulars here for good reason. I'd say nearby Schwartz's is a little bit better, but Roepke's is well worth a visit.

Amber G.

Yelp
Definitely make a reservation if you go on a weekend. Overall friendly service, good food and perfect if you're looking for the typical Wisconsin supper club experience.

Gary L.

Yelp
The food is traditional supper club. Wait staff was attentive and the drinks strong. Went there for a work dinner and will be returning. Salad bar was good, I had a steak medium and it was prepared correctly.

Shannon H.

Yelp
Very nice, clean and super friendly! The food was excellent. It was nice to find good German food while we were in town.

Mark K.

Yelp
Excellent Wisconsin Supper club, with a German flare! It's well worth the drive to get a fantastic meal! I've been coming here since 1971; and have never been disappointed! Bar is well stocked and staffed by the owner! They have the best salad bar, especially the bar cheese and liver pate at the end (remember to grab some crackers and bread sticks for those)! The best French onion soup crock! Great steaks and prime rib! I also like the Wiener Schnitzel, veal or pork, or Holstein (added egg) if I'm in the mood for German food! Pork chips, veal shanks, and great roast duck! Broasted chicken and potatoes are excellent as well! They also have excellent fish, lobster, scallops and shrimp dinners or combos with the steaks! You can get lake perch, walleye, and even frog legs! Great desserts and after dinner drinks! Great for parties, birthdays, anniversary dinners or just come over for a drink, soup and the salad bar!

Kev S.

Yelp
I loved this place. Supper Clubs in Wisconsin are an amazing tradition especially the ones that maintain the old world charm, service, and quality. Roepkes doesn't disappoint. I'm not a fan of supper clubs that remodel with modern interiors. It's the charm of finding a place like Roepkes that makes it special. It's warm and inviting and the food was amazing. I went for the German specialities and the salad bar of course. I will go back again with family and friends.

John F.

Yelp
Wienerschnitzel is top notch!! Im serious.... I could eat it every night! Get it with the fried egg on top. Great salad bar. Small town Wisconsin at its finest. This is one of my favorite places to eat!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Heard good things about this place tried to get a reservation for 8 but they were booked. So we drove out there 2 weeks later just the 2 of us. Had high hopes. Let's just say the hype was better then the food. Bartender was great waitress great The food was not worth the ride So glad i didn't bring all my friends here. Very disappointing. The schnitzel was terrible Salad bar was ok but the salad dressing was so watered down I could not believe it. On a good note the wait service was excellent, but that only goes so far. I will not be returning ever.

Grant S.

Yelp
If you're talking super club, Roepke's has to be part of the conversation. Killer salad bar w several unique vinegar based dishes like three bean salad. Trust me start w the crock of French onion soup. Hard for me to not order off the German menu because the Veiner Schnitzel and the shank are incredible. Choice steaks are cooked perfectly. Ok most of you won't eat them but the frog legs are as good as I've had. Plump juicy and almost sweet. So I hear dessert is good but I've never had room. Roepke's is legit and a great place to have a memorable family meal.

David L.

Yelp
I have been going to Roepkes for years, they know how to do reservations properly The salad bar is OUTSTANDING...everything is always good Waitstaff excellent,Clean They have NEVER stuck me in the bar for two hours while they "prepared" my table in a half empty dining area. They have respect for my time and my pallet there are others nut not better

Geri S.

Yelp
The bartender was welcoming and fun. Ethan our waiter was awesome. The food and drinks did not disappoint. We will definitely be back again and again

Mary S.

Yelp
The food and Old Fashions are always fantastic at Roepke's. Tonight I was impressed with their efforts made to keep us safe with social distancing. The tables were spaciously distanced. All employees wore masks. We could still get items from their salad bar but it came in individual containers. Now that's above and beyond!!!!

Deb G.

Yelp
Excited to experience some german food but disappointed as was not authentic. Had the pork schnitzel which was thin and dry. Asked the waitress for some type of gravy and she brought out gravy that is served with the pork shank. Made the schnitzel more edible. Very limited variety of german food but other options looked good- seafood, steaks, pork & pasta. Friendly staff all around. Nice salad bar

David S.

Yelp
I order duck frequently, Roepke's has the best. Crisp skin, not greasy, excellent home made orange sauce on the side. Excellent. The Chef's Special on Wednesday's is worth the trip. Always top shelf. Great cocktails and tap beers available. Clean, friendly staff. It has quickly become our favorite.

Priscilla O.

Yelp
This supper club located in the Holy Lands is well worth a visit just for the drive through the cornfields past gleaming silos and red barns. Once at Roepke's Village Inn, one enters into a large bar filled with convivial drinkers who all seemed to know each other. The dining room beyond was quieter with large multigenerational families enjoying their suppers. We ordered a cheese curd appetizer and weinerschnitzel for the main course. Both were standard fare - deep fried and plainly seasoned. The snap peas were cooked to death but the garlic mashed potatoes were excellent. The best part of the meal was the salad bar, which offered selections that can only be described as quintessentially Midwestern. The choices, in addition to the typical raw vegetables, included liver pate, cheese spread, creamy coleslaw, pickled cucumber, corn relish, three bean salad, and jello salad. Here too, the diners seemed to be on friendly terms. We listened to an exchange between an elderly gentleman eating solo and a young couple at another table. They came over and paid the tab for his meal because he had done so for them previously. Mutual thank you's were exchanged. It was nice to listen to, and gave us a pleasant insight into this rural Wisconsin supper club.

Richard M.

Yelp
Classic Wisconsin Supper Club. Stiff drinks, great salad bar and outstanding entrees. If you didn't know it was there you'd drive right by it, the only indication of the deliciousness inside is the consistently full parking lot. Sure, there are a lot of supper club options in the area, do yourself a favor and make Roepke's your regular stop.

John T.

Yelp
Great home style cooking, the staff goes the extra mile to keep everything COVID compliant.

Cathy D.

Yelp
This is truly a great supper club! It's worth the drive. Gary, our bartender was outstanding! McKenna, our server was also outstanding. The salad bar is perfect and our steaks were delicious. Best of all the atmosphere is so warm, inviting and cozy. There are wood chairs (instead of the normal ugly banquet chairs), and nice cloth table clothes on the tables. Try this place, you will love it!

Stephanie G.

Yelp
This place was a nice little find. They make most of their food from scratch. Great food, great service. They've got some German food on the menu and your normal supper club style food. The bartenders are great and treat us like we've been going there for years. The salad bar contains awesome goodies that are scratch made and delicious. Order the schnitzel or one of their specials on the board. You can't go wrong with the sauerkraut either! Awesome!

Lori P.

Yelp
This is a great place to eat, fabulous food and wonderful owners. The customer service you receive is outstanding. They have the best salad bar ever!!

Meagan K.

Yelp
Always like the atmosphere in this place. It is the classic Wisconsin supper club. Staff is extremely friendly and the food is delicious. The only downfall is that the mixed drinks are a little weak, they measure every single drink. Stick with the beer. Definately a place I will come back.

Heather L.

Yelp
There were very friend, helpful and alway a great place to go in eat and drink beer!!!! I had Kitty Cat Tail, Chicken Chew and tryed New Glaries Cabin Fever Beer was great!!! And thank you for not putting red pepper in Chicken Chew, that was very nice of you!!! My mom and grandpa had fish and also New Glaries Cabin Fever Beer.!!!! I recommend this places!!!! Great prices!!!

Deb H.

Yelp
I have just 2 stars this time for a few reasons. Usually great place for drinks as well as food. But tonight they fell short for several reasons. I called in advance for our order, but was disappointed to find upon arrival that there was no outside seating provided. Since we drove from out of town we were looking forward to enjoying the outdoors while also social distancing. We called in advance with our order which arrived on time. We drove to the far end of the parking lot and sat in the back of our truck to enjoy our "to go" dinners while they were hot. As we opened the containers we had no utensils to eat our salads with. No usual sides for perch like lemon, tarter sauce, nor ketchup for both of our fries. So I trotted in to the restaurant to get these items which I expected to be included. I got "to go" so I wouldn't have to do just that. To my dismay, there were no social distancing measures in place in the bar area. All of the bar stools were occupied, one next to the other, just as before. I did have a mask on when I went in to get the forgotten items. Because our dinners were good after all that, I can still give you 2 stars. Deb H 8/14/2020

Yelp
love Wisconsin supper clubs and this one is a cut above the average. we arrived party of six at prime time on a Saturday night. Had reservations with two children. Was a little worried but before I had two sips out of my excellent sweet old fashioned we were being seated. I think the hostess saw we had two children and made our visit Pleasant. Waitress was spot on with promptness and keep things moving at a good pace but not pushy. With a good kitchen support this a key to a successful business. Now the food . If it wasn't excellent I wouldn't be giving high praise. I ordered scallops and the were very good my ,wife had petit prime rib, not so petit but it was PRIME. all the people raived about their meals. Again if in the area look this one up, you won't be sorry.

Wendy M.

Yelp
I love supper clubs and go every chance I get. Roepke's is a hidden away gem that I cannot believe can exist in the middle of nowhere but the place was packed and deservedly so. My prime rib was perfect and even though I ordered the petite cut, that was a huge slab of meat. My husband's Kansas City steak was very good, properly seasoned, perfectly cooked and enormous. He actually brought some home, an unusual event! He also gives the salad bar two thumbs up, not necessarily for the quality but it was a picture perfect vision of what a Wisconsin supper club salad bar should be. It's worth the search to find it.

David B.

Yelp
Great family vibe. They pour a good drink at a fair price. Crazy garnish available, dill Brussel sprouts, pickled mushrooms. Great salad bar w/ all the fixings. Nice piece of beef filet, grilled just right . I'll be back next time I'm in the 'hood

Don H.

Yelp
My wife and I go here often and it never disappoints. Usually we have a NY strip which is the best steak around at any price. It's a little out of the way but worth the trip. If you go please don't tell your friends. let's just keep our little secret...

Beth K.

Yelp
I highly recommend this sweet Supper Club. Large menu, great salad bar, and entrées were excellent! Drinks are tasty and reasonably priced, and the bartenders, especially Gary keep you laughing and entertained.

Savannah S.

Yelp
My review would once have been 5 star, but my last meal was such a disappointment, we may never go back. My husband always gets steak and he was happy with his. I like seafood, but unless you go on Friday night, it may not be fresh. We only go there for special occasions because it's a bit pricy for regular meals. So my last birthday must have been on one of their off-nights because business was very slow with an almost empty dining room. That being the case, we got fast service. The brandy sweet old-fashioneds are just the way we like them. The salad bar has a big selection, many of which are german specialties. With so little business that night, I got the impression that some of the prepared salads were not-so-fresh. I always order seafood, but the shrimp I got that night was not fresh and tasted rancid. The worst part was the two-day belly ache I had afterward. Was something spoiled? or did I get something I was allergic to. The shrimp was suspect and prepared salads are always suspect. My allergies are always a problem, and unless I know ALL the food is prepared on-site with no preservatives, I can get quite ill from restaurant food. We very seldom eat out anymore because of bad experiences. Whatever the problem was, we have removed Roepke's from our list of "safe" restaurantss for me to use. Too bad, because we live in the neighborhood. I do not know how to tell if any restaurant's food is fresh. You can ask, but employees probably don't know. The drinks are safe though and their Grasshoppers are superb. Avoid the salad bar if you've ever had issues with preservatives or ask someone who knows what is safe.
