South Bend’s Best Restaurants for a Great Meal | Eater Chicago

"This modern tavern is located just down the street from the famed Golden Dome from within Notre Dame’s on-campus hotel, the Morris Inn. Open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., the menu offers a variety of contemporary American options such as salmon benedict, beef tartare, prime rib, pretzel fondue, and tahini penne. In the fall, it’s the ideal spot to grab a bite to eat and witness the hustle and bustle of campus life from Rohr’s outdoor patio." - Drew Mentock

Ate here for brunch, lunch and dinner two different days. Every meal was delicious and everyone loved what they choose. We had the burger, biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwich, Belgian waffle, Caesar salad, Sweet potato fries, Salmon dish, French toast, Reuben, corn hash and more. The only thing we didn’t think was worth it was the shrimp cocktail (only five shrimp and seemed small for $22). Obviously we came back many times and people say this is the best restaurant on campus! We also got an Irish coffee and an espresso martini and both were delicious. If we are back in the area we will certainly frequent again.

Amazing as always, we had the Nashville hot chicken, potato leek soup and salmon salad. All very tasty and super enjoyable in the classic design of the space.

Another reviewer said this place is a hidden gem but I think it’s a perfectly visible gem, since it’s in the nicest hotel right on Notre Dame’s campus. Genuinely nice atmosphere - very comfy chairs, and prompt service round out a very pleasant dining experience. When it comes to food: The portions are ridiculously large I would say, perhaps not relative to every restaurant ever, but relative to the quality - I think that’s an unexpected surprise and it could easily leave you with leftovers if you over-order. Worth a stop-by if you’re in the area!

This place is great. It's right down the street from my work at tigon golf carts so I meet my husband here for dinner sometimes. Never had a bad meal. Would definitely recommend.

My father, class of 1965 got the waffle, my wife got the yogurt and I got the breakfast sandwich. Everything was AMAZING. Our waitress, Makeanna was was super nice. Michael Miller, the Director of food and beverage came over and was just so polite. We actually saw him going around to every table and helping out the staff where needed, thanking the patrons for coming in. Just a class act. We will be back!

Food amazing, service great! Atmosphere perfect! There was a larger party which delayed my service. However, my server apologized and delivered exceptional service til the end. Great experience from beginning to end. The restaurant is located inside the Morris Inn. I drove around twice trying to figure it out. You simply let the valet person know and they will open the gate for you to park. My food was sooo delicious! I missed breakfast today! I definitely will revisit.

Our waiter was lovely and kind the whole time, I think Juan is his name, but when the place got busy when the stadium cleared because of the storm, a different staff member came up and was so rude to us. She spoke to us like we'd been asked to leave and were refusing. She said they needed this table "like, now." No one had told us there was a reservation, no one had told us there was a time limit. No one had even given us our check yet! It was bizarre. And then she stood near our table until we left, which was once we had an opportunity to receive a check and pay it. We spent about $450 in our time there, not like we were sitting there sipping water. It was a real bummer to be spoken to like that, ruining our whole lovely experience. She half-heartedly apologized when my sister and niece told her that her tone was extremely rude and unnecessary, but it was truly half-hearted, and her lingering weirdly by the table kinda canceled it out. Other than our sweet waiter, the Bramble cocktail was wonderful, the burratta, the shrimp cocktail, and the pretzel fondue apps were delicious. We ordered more, but those were the things I tried.
