Rollins Museum of Art

We walked around the lovely campus of Rollins College after riding the Sunrail from Debary, FL. We went to the history museum first after exiting off the Sunrail and learned where the Rollins Art Museum was. Then we strolled down to Rollins after shopping and eating lunch and found the Art Museum situated among live oaks near a lake. It located in an easy to find place with limited parking nearby. We are glad we walked and didn't have to bother with parking. It is an easy walk from the train station. The Museum is free and we visitied during the week and we were the only two people in the museum. It is small but, the displays were interesting and educational, the staff was friendly and welcoming. They even had hands on art area for children which I thought was a nice way to teach children about art. The building is lovely and situated among large oak trees near a lake. We walked behind the museum and around the lake and enjoyed the view. It is a very peaceful and pleasant atmosphere. The bathrooms are clean and going to an art museum in the summer is a great activity as it is air conditioned and cool. A great escape from the heat. I enjoyed the art exhibit on women and masks and found it thought provoking and interesting.

This is a decent free museum with contemporary art on the campus of Rollins College. There is some fun stuff in here, and you can cover it all in around half an hour. There's far more from the Rollins collection over at the Alfond Inn, which is also free to walk around. I suggest doing both. Parking is only about 5 dedicated spots across the roundabout, otherwise, it's whatever you can find on campus. And even in the summer, that wasn't easy! I drove around for a bit before I caught a space someone was leaving.

I took my family to this museum to introduce them to the art world, and it was a good choice. The bright hallway with arched windows created a warm welcome. A LEGO table let them build and play creatively, which they loved. Inside the Jeannette Genius McKean Gallery, we explored beautiful photographs and colorful stained glass windows. My kids even sketched their own versions of the art - fully engaged and inspired. This museum blends creativity, beauty, and family fun. A great place to make lasting memories while discovering the joy of art together.

Rollins Museum of Art is a small but wonderful museum located on the beautiful campus of Rollins College. Originally founded as the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, it holds a growing collection of over 6,000 works — from European Old Masters to contemporary pieces. Admission is free, and there’s convenient parking nearby, making it easy to visit anytime. The exhibitions rotate regularly, keeping the experience fresh. Right now, the “Printing the Revolution!” show on Chicano graphic art is bold, thought-provoking, and beautifully curated. The surrounding campus is charming and walkable, perfect for a relaxing stroll after your visit. There’s also a cozy art studio for families and kids to get creative, and a small gift shop with charming and unique finds. A perfect cultural outing for locals and visitors alike!

Great experience walking around enjoying the artwork. There's an area in the front for kids to be creative and build something with legos.The grounds in the back of the building have a great area for taking pictures of the lake,nature, and gazebo.

I really liked this museum it was fun stop in Orlando! The exhibits were interesting, interactive, and immersive. I def recommend everyone coming and checking it out at least once and the best thing is this museum is free! There’s also a nice little gazebo in the back of the museum with a beautiful little garden you can walk around and check out.

Wonderful museum! The galleries looked stunning, so well put together. The exhibition In Our Eyes is a strong gathering of works on a timely topic, especially in Florida. The faculty and student exhibitions were a welcome surprise! I encourage you to visit, and it is always free admission.

Friendly greeting and helpful staff at the front. In our quest for low cost or free summer experiences we stopped in the museum with our kid crew. Entrance was free, so can't beat that. The kiddos enjoyed the art scavenger hunt which was a great way to get them involved in viewing all the art. There was also a Lego creative opportunity which the kiddos enjoyed. Parking is a little tricky, I recommend parking in the garage, it's a short walk rather than circling the campus.

Yes, it may not be the biggest museum around. But for a free one, it offers a good mix of local art and occasional rotating major works. Love the set up of the gallery. Gives you a very calm and relaxing experience while also giving you the space to think deeply about each work :)

Really really small. I was thinking how cool it be to check out a free admission art museum, based on the pics the place is supposed to be big... But parking was small, hardly anyone moved, had to go up the hill and the gallery is only 5 mins of views...

Rollins Museum of Art is a small art museum on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park. After a couple of days of Universal Studios fun, I decided to have an artsy Winter Park day with my mom and stepdad. Rollins was our last art museum of the day, and I enjoyed it. It's small (and free to visit!), but had some interesting pieces and exhibits! My favorite pieces were by Pedro Reyes, Danh Vo, Markus Brunetti, Robert Andrew Parker, Annette Rawlings, and Henry Botkin! Given its small size, it's a great art museum to check out if you just have a little time!

Glad to have finally made it! I came on a Frifay but they were closed for an event and came back Saturday. Entrance is free and the art displays are set in the main hallway and 3 rooms next to the entrance. The displays rotate during the year and it takes about 1 hr to cover it at a high level. Parking is limited infront of the building but not hard to find a spot. I will definitely be back and don't hesitate to check them out.

The museum is closed on Mondays and there is never an entrance fee. Parking is also free but limited. There is a receptionist that greets you when you enter and a friendly security guard that roams the main hallway. The museum is small and nicely done. On my visit they showcased a collection of contemporary art, American art and more. It will only take about thirty minutes to view everything and take a quick look in the gift shop area. I especially liked the American art and the recording booth in the Boundaries & Frontiers area. The recording booth is a nice interactive touch. They rotate exhibits so come often.

A really great small art museum at Rollins. It took me 40 minutes and if I took my time more perhaps an hour. They say they rotate their art I just don't know how often. I'll check back in 6 months and see what changed. It's a good mix of classics to modern, art, sculpture, and mixed media. And the best part...it's free! Worth a quick trip if you are in the Winter Park area for sure.

Cornell Fine Arts Museum is a part of Rollins College and a go see place in Winter Park, Florida. It was my second museum to see in Orlando. Various artists are displayed in the museum. My favorites were the UPTOWN /DOWNTOWN: Richard Lindner's Fun City, Tom Peterson, (American, 1930-2018), The Divine Comedy, and Andrea Bowers, Community or Chaos. (July 7,2021)

We enjoyed our time at the museum. It was a nice way to spend some time during the day and visit the town of Winter Park.

High five for a free museum! I visited Rollings College on Friday to go to the free Cornell Fine Arts Museum on campus. There is a free self guided Rollings College Mr. Rogers Neighborhood Tour right now. You get a free sticker and map for the tour at the museum. I didn't have time to do the walk. But I saw stop #1 on the tour. The museum had Mr. Roger's Neighborhood cardigan sweater and shoes on display. The museum was great and there's a cool giftshop.

First of all, it was free when we visited. I'm not sure if that's a year round thing or if we happened to get lucky. I was fortunate to catch the last day for the Indian,Turkish and Iranian modernist exhibit there and really enjoyed seeing some beautiful art. I hope to go back again and see other pieces in their collection. Another notable mention is to check out the outside area behind the museum it's peaceful.

The Cornell Fine Arts Museum is a free museum located on the campus of Rollins College in Winter Park. There is limited free parking a few steps away from the entrance. Rollins College was founded in 1885 and by the 1900's a few paintings and a natural history collection were donated to the college. In 1941, Jeannette Morse Genius, spouse of the president of Rollins College at that time, donated the money to build the Morse Gallery of Art on campus. Through the years more works of art were donated. In the 1970's George and Harriet Cornell gave the college the money to renovate the Morse Gallery into a new museum named The Cornell Fine Arts museum which opened in 1978. Rollins College is a very beautiful, expensive liberal arts college. Fred Rogers is one of their most famous alumni. I have wanted to check out this museum for awhile and I finally got the chance on a Saturday afternoon visit to Winter Park. They ask that you pre register for tickets but I did not know that before I arrived. They helped me by registering for me while I enjoyed the exhibits. The museum features rotating exhibits and they have their own collection of 5,600 objects , spanning centuries. Also part of the museum is the Alford Inn, a boutique hotel that features art exhibits. The hotel serves as a satellite location for the museum. During my visit their was an exhibition by Marcus Jansen who addresses political and social themes in his art. There was also an exhibit called What Women Want marking the 100 year anniversary of suffrage in the United States. Another exhibit, Place as Metaphor addressed climate change with a video from 2015, Mel Chin's L'arctique est Paris, and a portrait of Greta Thunberg, a climate change activist photographed by Hellen van Meene. My favorite exhibit was Storied Objects: Relics and Tales from the Thomas R. Baker Museum. A fire destroyed the first natural history collection of Rollins College in 1909. The college put out ads asking for museum quality pieces to rebuild the collection and people all over the country donated 10,000 pieces by 1920. These objects were placed in the Thomas R. Baker museum until it closed in 1970. This exhibit showcases items that come from 5 continents and span 5,000 years of human history. If you can't attend in person there is a 360 degree view of it on the museum website. It blows my mind that people had these things and sent them in. On exhibit is a door knocker from Pompeii, a Pre-Columbian figure, fossils from the head of a sphinx, Egyptian mortuary figurines, and a Sioux beaded bag. Sitting in a hallway is a marble 2nd century Roman sarcophagus. I was in awe of these things. Where did people get ancient objects from? Remarkable. During the year the museum offers tours, lectures, and family programs provided by donor support. The museum is small but well worth a visit. When you finish you can walk around out back and take in the view of Lake Virginia. I saw an anhinga drying his wings. I love the campus architecture and a visit to the free museum makes for an educational and economical outing. Just remember to register before you come.

It's a small museum located inside Rollins campus and very close to park ave. We came to look at some of the impressionists works that we're exhibiting there and saw some really nice paintings. The parking and admission is free but you're welcome to donate if you like. The gallery has opened up since I remembered going there a long time ago. I'm excited to see what they have schedule next. It's a great way to spend the afternoon if you happen to be strolling on park ave then walk another few minutes to walk to Rollins campus and experience the museum.

went with my friends and was a very enjoyable experience. compared to other museums in orlando i really liked this one. i was lucky since this was an open house and got in for free

Perhaps the most charming part of CFAM is its proximity to Lake Virginia and the chance patrons have to enjoy the outdoors on lazy Saturday afternoons. CFAM also has the distinct advantage of being free - all the time. Located within the Rollins College campus, CFAM features a play area for children onsite, as well as a small gift shop. Here, I marveled at plenty of oil on canvas and my first Grandma Moses piece. The African American artist collection features a number of striking works of art and I never fail to be amazed at how much depth and emotion are possible with just a few brush strokes. Parking is limited to 5 spaces in front of the museum, but they will validate if you park at the SunTrust garage. How I envy the lucky bride who will take her vows at this beautiful location. But for free admission, I am heartened in knowing I can enjoy CFAM whenever I'd like.

Yelp Challenge 2017 - 34/100 I heard about the exhibit by Patrick Martinez entitled " American Memorial " and I had to go and check it out as it is his 1st solo show in a museum. The museum is located on the campus of Rollins College Campus and has free parking and entry. It's small and quaint with great pieces. A wonderful place to view art and relax on a Saturday.

This is a micro-museum with about 4 medium sized rooms of exhibits. We were able to walk through in about 10 minutes. What I liked about it was that it was free and had free parking. I also liked that we stumbled in on family day where they had 4 tables with kids crafts. They provided the materials and art as inspiration.

Such an affordable museum. It is one of my favorite places to go when I am in the area. They have the most beautiful stained glass displays. If you are Catholic and from Long Island,NY, you will especially be fond of this museum. There are so many Catholic stained glass windows and magnificent chapel. There is a section of the museum where it is heavily rooted in Long Island history too.

We truly enjoyed our time walking through this little museum. Everyone was super friendly and the art was fantastic. Would definitely return.

This smaller museum is a hidden gem tucked away on the Rollins campus. The collection includes paintings, sculpture and even artifacts (e.g., a sarcophagus!) and oddities (an extensive watch key collection). The collection draws on all eras. I also noted and appreciated that there was a significant amount of work by female artists included in the collection. If you have children, there is a small play area inside the museum near some of the sculptures. If you have admired the contemporary art collection at the Alfond Inn, the current exhibition - Patrick Martinez' "American Memorial" - is certainly worth checking out.

This a small but nice art museum. Expect to spend no more than 30-45 mins. Not only is admission free but they provide a free 30 guided tour. Exhibits are changed Frequently.You can still make a day of it, by taking a scenic walk Around campus. Its historical architecture and lake are breath taking . The historical Winter park is only a 3 min drive. You can spend the afternoon walking the park, visiting the shops and art gallery. End the day dinning in the amazing section of restaurants.

They had a wonderful display of art. My only critique, like most museums they need more modern artist to display their work.

Really cool art museum located on Rollins College campus. Small-sized but the rooms are laid out nicely. To give you an idea of the kind of exhibits they have: on my visit, I saw drawings from French artist Paul Signac, postmodern work from contemporary artist Patrick Martinez, a few Renaissance pieces (like Cosimo Rosselli) , and even a Roman sarcophagus. Admission is free on Sundays. Worth the visit.

Located on the Rollins College campus, this is one of 3 major museums in the Winter Park area. Spacious, cool and quiet, you'll have a wonderful time strolling the spaces and observing the pieces on display. The time I visited I was enthralled by the Roman sarcophagus, as part of the "Selections from the Permanent Collection" exhibit. Photography was allowed, too. Whether you're a die-hard art lover or just want to kill some time, you won't regret your walk through these intriguing halls. Will definitely be back again!

The most underrated, unadvertised museum in Central Florida. Cornell Fine Arts Museum consistently exhibits interesting stuff. In one visit during Spring/Summer, I saw the following: Interpretations of Sharaku by Japanese artists, a TON of 500+ year-old Italian paintings, Salvador Dalí's Hebrew Bible illustrations... and about ten American landscapes from the late 1800s (a nice surprise that wasn't listed in the museum's catalog). There was also some student work AND a local exhibition-- a historical tribute to farmworkers of Lake Apopka. Back in Fall, they had a great architecture exhibition thoughtfully accompanied by an abstract painting exhibition and another room of digital abstract art. The curators of this museum know what they're doing. It's on a college campus, but that doesn't mean it's "Amateur Hour". Each room bellows the amount of work and thought placed on creating striking packages akin to world-class museums. CFAM is free for students of any school and five dollars for all others. Totally affordable. This is a quiet place to check out at least once each season. The entrance through Rollins college sets the relaxed tone, as well as the lakeside setting. Give yourself at least 1 - 2 hours to hang out, otherwise you'll want to come back for "just another 20 minutes."

In all the years I've lived here, I recently visited the Cornell for the first time. It's located lakeside on the beautiful campus of Rollins College in Winter Park. On my visit they were featuring: E. Brady Robinson: Transfer, a seemingly random but fascinating collection of photos from an artist's travels. One of the most captivating photos was "MCO Underpass." Douglas Witmer - I Found a Reason, mostly acrylic on "found wood", and the least impressive exhibit to me. Maybe I didn't get it. The Velvet Years, 1965-1967, from photographer Stephen Shore. Classic photographs of Andy Warhol, Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground. Janet Macoska's rock and roll photographs, It's Always Rock and Roll. Many great photos. Among my favorites were one of Annie Lennox, and another amazing closeup of The Boss, Nils Lofgren and the late Clarence Clemons in performance. My favorite exhibit of all, however, was a small but remarkably beautiful group of photographs, Selections from the Last Harvest, showing migrant farm workers at Lake Apopka. Don't forget to check out the Watch Keys, decorative keys for winding a watch before the stem was invented!

I agree a great under rated museum that doesn't do a lot of publicity. I didn't even know about it until months ago when a friend told me about it. Beautiful exhibits and a great gift shop. Currently there is a photography exhibit featuring Andy Warhol and his studio "The Factory". "The Factory" also became a hipster hangout and you will also find photos of the likes of Lou Reed, Nico (The Velvet Underground), Bob Dylan and more. It really captures a time that seems to be repeating itself. The clothes, the politics, etc. You must visit this little gem in Winter Park.

This is truly a jewel of an art museum! Located on the Rollins College (toward the back ) campus, I just recently enjoyed a luncheon there for the purpose introducing the locals to all the features the Museum has to offer. I was amazed by the accumulation of art and knew some of the families who have donated art to the musem from their personal collections. If you are visiting the charming town of Winter Park, you must stop by this Museum! It is small enough to not take up your whole day but large enough to educate and nourish your love of art!! This museum is great hidden treasure. The admission is free in 2014 any time of the week they are open. The have 3 separate rooms full of art. There are many local artist featured here. They also have purchased some rare pieces that are displayed throughout the museum. Cornell Art Museum is on the Rollins Campus and the museum fits right in at this beautiful campus. After you walk through the museum, take a walk on the path behind it and enjoy the scenery of Rollins. Great place! A must see!

In brief: Free admission on Sunday, and has a nice bay view behind it. The exhibits themselves are a bit lacking, as it is a small venue with limited specialities. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, which I didn't expect. Nonetheless, a nice free spot to stop in, support the arts, and then follow thru with a relaxing walk along the water in the backyard, or stroll through campus on the other side.

Small and beautiful drive and contrast to the amusement parks.

This is a great museum with a good mix of paintings, sculpture and other installations. There is a wide variety of pieces ranging from the 1500s to today. When we went it was free due to the Bessemer Trust. The gentleman at the front desk and the security guard were very helpful and we appreciated how we could take pictures (without a flash). Afterwards, we enjoyed walking around the beautiful Rollins campus which in itself is a piece of art.

Great place with interesting exhibitions. I enjoyed the Matisse show and just visited Fractured Narratives. Free admission!

Staff was extremely rude and unfriendly. Went in and looked around and was discussing a painting with a friend and a random lady who I assume worked there watched us and said my finger was getting too close to the painting with extreme attitude even though it was a significant distance away from the actual painting and no where near touching it. She then proceeded to stare us down the entire time. While away from her eye, a security guard followed us around the rooms to watch us. Extremely rude and uncalled for. The art was not very unique as most of it was all by the same artist and just weird and random things they picked up from people who no longer wanted them, and the staff made it an overall poor experience. Would not go back.

This is a beautiful museum. There is a great black and white photography exhibit and many Italian paintings. There are a lot of interesting pieces and styles. I had a great tour guide and learned a lot. I highly recommend a visit to this museum!

Tiny but a true hidden gem. I spent an hour or so wandering around the museum recently and discovered a lot of new to me artists to explore. It was a lovely building and a helpful staff.

I visited the museum for the first time yesterday. I'm sorry but I was just not impressed. If I had paid an admission fee I would have thought it was a rip-off. There's just not much there. A tremendous amount of space and not much to fill it! Nothing really unusual or impressive. I also don't understand why they have a beautiful stained glass piece hidden away next to the restrooms??

I visited the Cornell Museum for a field trip for my college humanities class. I have lived in winter park all of my life and have never heard of this museum. I really enjoyed my experience there our tour guide really knew his stuff and they had many interesting paintings and sculptures.

This museum isn't the best nor the worst. They have a small collection of some cool pictures and sculptures but not as many as some other nearby museums have. If you're looking for a cool environment around the building and about an 30mins-1hr of looking inside then this place would meet your mark.
