Being Locals, it’s nice when you’re treated with kindness and respect! This place is great! Food is tasty…I love the Carpacio! The Calamari was excellent and the Pizza Davola was cooked to perfection! Even better, the service! Calogero (aka Charlie) was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He was very attentive and friendly!!! Ashley makes the best Aperol Spritz!!! Thank you so much!!!

We wanted to try something new for dinner spot while in the Gaslamp district. Found this spot and it was great. Fabio our water was courteous and gave us great food recommendations. I had the lobster ravioli and my husband had the meat lasagna. Portions were just right. Highly recommend. Will come back again when in area.

In the Gaslamp area there's no shortage of good restaurants. But one has to choose whichever you personally would prefer. For me I look for the special parts of the menu where I normally do not have every day. Today was the cheese wheel pasta. This is a rich dish where you can share and have room for dessert. The pasta and oxtail meatballs is super comfort food that you can only experience. The service was perfect where your server doesn't need to keep checking on you. If you need your server, if the host sees you they will not hesitate to come by. The decor felt very Italian and you can feel and hear every one having a great time. Great food can do this when done right. And this they do.

Lovely little Italian restaurant with dishes that feel very authentic! I got the cheese wheel pasta and was thrilled when they came and mixed it up next to the table in a giant cheesewheel before plating it. It was creamy and so tasty. My husband got the salmon and enjoyed it as well. Shoutout to Fabio, our server! Very friendly and I think he is just as authentic Italian as the pasta 😉

Google
This was really quite good. Very nice ambiance, attentive service, outstanding rustic Italian food, extensive wine list. Upon the recommendation of our server, we ordered the Radiatori Al Sugo, the Agnolotti, and the seared lamb Chops. Our server wasn't wrong.

Google
Outstanding food in a rustically modern (is that possible?) environment with enthusiastic team service. The lamb chops had a beautiful sear on them and were cooked a perfect medium rare and served on a bed of house made olive tapenade with roasted potatoes. The oxtail osso buco was fall-off-the-bone tender with a slight caramelization on the meat to enhance the flavor balance of this savory dish. We loved the delicious saffron risotto that came with it. The beef carpaccio melted in your mouth and was complemented with fresh, peppery arugula and salty shaved Parmesan. Both the Osso Buco and carpaccio are arguably the best offered in San Diego. The arugula and endive salad with crispy cheese balls was divine. We also like the radiatori pasta with oxtail meatballs . It had a savory tomato sauce and the pasta was light and fresh. Nice selection of wines, beautiful bar with decent liquor selection, great location.

Google
Absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was warm friendly and attentive without being overbearing! Gio took such great care of us from start to finish! The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented . Definitely recommended the tiramisu. Will 100% be coming back!

Google
Wow! What an amazing meal! A group of us gathered around a few tables pushed together and we ate a combination of dishes we ordered and dishes our server suggested. OMG, it was unbelievably delicious! Burrata, calamari, carciofi a la Romana (fried artichokes from the Jewish Quarter), carpaccio, and other Roman delights. Our server was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ate and laughed and had a glorious evening! Definitely worth making a reservation!

Yelp
Service was well, the food came out quick and it was very good. The lighting was perfect and the music made the wait enjoyable. Would've liked to know that we'd be charged for water though.

Yelp
TOP TIER! Last night, my wife and I were walking in Gaslamp Quarter looking for a quiet place for some drinks/appetizers. We found this place right after they opened around 4:30pm. ATMOSPHERE: This place did not cut any corners. From the ambient music to the decor, Romanissimo knocked it out of the park. My wife and I were looking for a quiet place for a date night and this place could not have been more perfect. The bathrooms were very clean, the white tablecloths were nicely spread out, and the tables were spaced nicely. We never felt crowded even with a coupe sitting near us. FOOD: The food is what made this place shine! Every bite was superb! We ordered light appetizers: Caesar salad, beef carpaccio, and the polpette. A hidden benefit was that we walked in during happy hour, which made the prices very affordable. SERVICE: Our staff that served us was extremely polite and courteous. Anything we asked for, fhey made sure we were well taken care of. Overall, we would recommend this place to anyone venturing into Gaslamp for dinner. We are already looking forward to stopping by again when we are back in San Diego!

Yelp
We were leaving Comic Con and looking for a spot for dinner and came across Romanissimo because it was short walk away from the convention center. Since it is Comic Con, everywhere was busy with insane wait times. When we first approached the host stand we were told they were taking reservations only and no walk ups, but after checking the reservations online we found a slot for almost immediate seating. We found it a little odd that we were initially turned away when there were so many reservation slots available, but we didn't think too much of it since we were just happy to have a table. The space was very cute, and even though it was very crowded, I felt it would be a great option for someone looking for a nice dinner out. There was plenty of seating indoors as well as some spots outside in their patio. The food itself is also very solid. We started with a Bruschetta Ricotta which I enjoyed and the Pizza Diavola I ordered was also very tasty. Everyone else at my table ordered different pizzas and pastas and from my impression everyone enjoyed their meals. It's not the best Italian food you will ever eat but it's tasty and better than any chain you'll visit. The real let down of the night was the service. From the hosts to our server we were left with a poor impression of Romanissimo. While one of our hosts was very sweet while seating us, the initial host we talked to about seating was not friendly, and even with my booked reservation gave standoffish service while checking me in. On top of that our server failed almost every aspect of our dinner. He would make rare appearances at our table, even while we would see him check frequently on tables around us. While the entrees came out fast, our appetizers and wine were nowhere to be found, and we had to ask a manager where our missing items were. While we understand the restaurant was busy with Comic Con, if someone has time to chat with their other tables, they should have time to run 3 glasses of wine and an appetizer before entrees hit the table. We even had a food runner carelessly shove the appetizer we initially were not served on our table. It was all a disappointment because aside from the poor service, this would be a great option for dinner when in the area. Unfortunately even though I'll be back in San Diego in the near future, Romanissimo is not somewhere I would want to stop at again. I know many Italian spots in SD with better food and far better service.

Yelp
The food was really mid I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was really runny and didn't have much flavor until I doctored it up myself. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna and we both agree the he frozen version from Costco is better. Our drinks were canned and they were really flat and not really cold. This place is pretty expensive for the quality of the food. Our server was really sweet and attentive though I can't complain about that. The environment itself is nice but we were sat outside and i constantly was swept with the smell of piss. Not a great scent while I'm eating. I don't think I'll be coming back.

Pasta was cooked really good but the flavors were to salty but over good . I got the vegetarian pesto lasagna . Good flavors and balance flavors .. texture of the Lasagna was on point . Services was good but for the food sand the service but nothing really stood out . If I come back again I will stop by again .

Yelp
Went here last Sat for our anniversary. I was underwhelmed. Our waiter Fabio was less than attentive. We had to ask if there were any specials. He did not ask us if we were celebrating anything (we were) And once we got our food, he never checked on us at all. The place was NOT busy and he walked past our table at least 5 times never once checking on us. As far as the food is concerned, it lacked flavor. A little seasoning goes a long way. I would not return to this place.

Yelp
Came here for my wedding rehearsal dinner and it was an incredible experience. Reservation for 13 people and they had the table ready to go and service was prompt. I wish I got her name but June 19th 5:30pm service team was on point. Polite and attentive. The food portion, quality to price ratio was all on point. Everyone enjoyed the food and service. Would highly recommend this place for large group meals or even date night.

Yelp
Walked in around 5:40 on a weekend and was delighted that we discovered their great happy hour which ended at 6. Would definitely recommend happy hour but for full price we didn't think the food was that great... just good. Service was great though and also loved their spritz which was only $10 on happy hour. Very cute Italy vibes inside but idk about the costume uniforms.

Yelp
What a cute little Italian eatery right in the middle of the action in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. The charcuterie was delicious and the homemade lobster ravioli with vodka cream sauce and warm bread sealed the deal. The service was stellar and our server Calogero brought knowledge. His accent is pretty special too! Do yourself a favor and stop by to say hello.

Yelp
Ok so let me start by saying that if you're looking for a cheap bite to eat, this is not the place for you. But if you want the Nonna experience, then pull up a chair and enjoy. Everything we ordered was simply delicious. You're going to be taken on a trip to Italy from the first bite of that warm and tasty bread - make sure to add some evoo and balsamico. Don't forget the dessert. The limoncello cake is a must-have for sure. Lastly, our server Maria was delightful and attentive taking the experience to a whole new level. I wish we lived closer because this place is now on my list of favorites. 10/10

Yelp
Romanissimo Cucina transports you into a Italian wine cellar the moment you step in from the hustle and bustle of Gaslamp. The food was good! We had the bruschetta amatriciana, the artichoke ravioli, and the radiatori al sugo. Overall it is a good spot but when compared to some of the phenomenal spots in Little Italy at a similar price point it is hard to justify coming here. Perhaps in the future going for a drink or happy hour just to enjoy the interior/ambiance.

Yelp
Located in the famous GasLamp Quarters of downtown San Diego, Romanissimo Cucina Italiano is among the latest restaurants to open. Parking is a challenge but is available at nearby parking garages for a fee. Was invited to dine here with a group and we ordered multiple dishes, shared family style to savor the claim of fame Trastavere style. Trastavere is a magical area in Rome which still had cobble stone narrow streets, artisan shops, trattoria restaurants casual and lively. Have traveled to various cities in Italy including Rome and I could see how this restaurant tried to simulate the greatness in the dishes offered. Everything was presented nicely, looked and tasted delicious; the roasted artichokes, grilled prawns, oxtail osso buco, cheese pappardelle pasta, tiramisu and wine were all showcased and very tasty but so believe the recipes might have been altered to meet American palate standards, as true Italian recipes are more robust. Service from the staff was cordial and helpful but a tad slow. The restaurant interior has ample indoor seating, a full bar with a tv monitor, a wine storage showcased via the glass box and the decor throughout depicts areas of Rome like the wall painted art of the iconic Colosseum. Outdoor patio seating available as well, is a nice to way experience the liveliness of the Gaslamp quarters, which is very touristy. Perhaps the special feature of this restaurant is the potential intimate ambiance seating inside; with a nice bottle of Italian wine, share a dish or two to savor and feel all that is romantic and Romanissimo! Recommend

Yelp
This prime corner in the Gaslamp Quarter had been the home of two upscale seafood restaurants before being converted to an Italian eatery. The new owners happen to operate a portfolio of Italian spots around town. Romanissimo Cucina Italiana inherited a large space that was refurbished to reflect the change in cuisine style. Between the sidewalk tables and the inside dining room, at least 100 customers could be seated. A long bar with 10 spots was to the far right of the room when you entered. The food categories consisted of breads, beginnings, salads, pinza/pizza, pasta, secondi (entrees), and sides. Grilled octopus was available as an appetizer which is one of my normal choices. However, one of the entrees was the Calamari Ripieni that featured giant calamari stuffed with crab meat, fresh herbs, and spicy tomato sauce over spaghetti. It caught my eye because of its uniqueness and became my main dish. The Polpette di Coda was my pick for a starter. This was three oxtail meatballs stewed in fresh tomato sauce. The meatballs had a coarser texture from the braised oxtail as opposed to the smooth consistency of ground beef. The dish was expensive at $22 for the medium size meatballs. Back to the entree, two pieces of stuffed calamari were paired with a mound of spaghetti. I loved the large size of the squid as it's typically served as a much smaller portion. It was like eating a crab cake but with calamari as the vehicle instead of breading. My visit was during the last hour of business so it was quiet with maybe two or three other parties seated in the vast dining area. Consequently, the service was just fine as the staff had to deal with fewer customers. I enjoyed my dinner at Romanissimo Cucina Italiana to give the experience a four star rating.

Yelp
great new spot and much needed addition to the gaslamp area. Located on the corner of 5th and market st, this place is right in the middle of all the action. Came here during the soft launch and had a great time. Started off the night at the bar with some top shelf negronis and then transitioned over to the table to dinner. Great way to kill time if youre reservation wait time is long. We started with the spicy prawns which were delicious with the right amount of green pepper spice. For dinner we went with the carbonara and artichoke raviolis .. both portions were right on and went down well with some house red wine. Save some room for tiramisu. Also pack a bit a patience while this new place works out the kinks... again, wait it out at the bar with some cocktails and you'll be fine.. Lots of paid parking around the gaslamp.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner here at Romanissimo . This spot used to be Salt Water restaurant. This new Romanissimo , their decors are much better . Started off with our Clams and Mussels as our appetizer with 2 toasted bread on it and an extra basket of Toast bread on the side my wife requested. The Mussels and Clams are in good portions with a delicious broth. I had their OXTAIL OSSOBUCO and it's very tender and very tasty, one of the most delicious Oxtail Ossobuco I had. Wifey got her Pasta with a Squid stuffed with Crab, she seem that she really liked it because she forgot to offer some for me to try it. We had a great dinner at this new restaurant Romanissimo located in Gaslamp. Great service from Alec and Gio. We really enjoyed their delicious food and drinks.

Yelp
The service was absolutely top tier! I originally was not planning on eating at a restaurant, but The hostess was very friendly and the happy journey caught my eye. She accommodated me fast and I sat down immediately. I had the best servers, Maria and Alisha. Alisha was extremely attentive and even convinced me to try the Piza with pistachio on it (which was phenomenal by the way, don't knock it til you try it!) since it was on the happy hour menu for about half off. I finished off with Maria's dessert recommendation, chocolate mousse with a cappuccino. I am so pleasantly surprised and grateful to have found this place, definitely coming back!

Yelp
The outside seating was grand. Saturday night, May 3rd.... So a lot of weekend traffic to people watch.... Thomas our waiter was dressed authentically, and quite attentive at each turn. His recommendations were spot on. Pasta, wine and delightful small convo. Thomas lead us through a grand evening, (and it don't cost nearly that much, lol.) Wifey had lobster ravioli, I had lobster something - (little ricotta cheese and green basil sauce) = absolutely spot on. Even the bread was delicious, prolly the best bread, i have ever had in public dining. Plus, (bonus) pour your own balsamic and oil . Yum. Just delightful. An Italian guy wondered by, maybe the owner, manager, A paid Italian guy to walk around... ( whatever). He was hilarious, authentically happy and didn't understand a thing I said. I laughed with him. We laughed together. Good times.

Yelp
We had Charlie (server) tonight and he was fantastic! Followed up by the delicious food and drinks! Great happy hour as well. Branzino was the favorite, so good! We also had the margarita pizza, cacio e pepe, everything was great!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Formerly known as Saltwater, this restaurant has now changed to an Italian theme. We came for happy hour and went crazy since the menu is so extensive! We ordered calamari, the mussels and clams, margarita pizza, polpette di coda pasta, Caesar salad, and the oyster and wine special ($25!). Everything was so good! I would maybe skip the pizza next time. Service was very attentive and fast! definitely on my list for happy hours

Rebeca R.

Yelp
What's the point of being open for Yelp waitlist if you're not honoring them? I totally understand being booked up, but the waitlist should not be open. Not even a sorry from the hostess.
google avatar

Yelp
Food service and ambiance was great. Shannon was extremely nice and tentative. We ordered a pizza to share then our own pastas. The Bolognese was delicious!! We also tried the calamari pasta plate. It was ok. We had a reservation and would recommend going back

Yelp
Food was amazing!! Service was great and Maria was the best server. Great place for people watching.

Yelp
What can I say about this place. We had a long standing reservation at another local Italian spot that was a total nightmare (OC&M). After an hour and a half without ever seeing our waiter we called around and Romanissimo saved the day. If I were just reviewing the food on its own it would be a glowing review. Everything we had was dialed in and memorable. But the star of the show (goofy Shrek costumes aside) was the service. We had a huge party and we were wined and dined by our waiter and the management. They turned what could have been a disaster night into something we will all remember fondly. Fabio and the management were all pros and it showed. This is THE spot for Italian whenever I'm back in San Diego.
google avatar

Spencer S.

Yelp
Good food and great service! I suggest coming in during Happy Hour from 4pm-6pm. The happy hour prices are way better than the normal menu prices. Fabio was a great server! The only down side was it's very hot inside... For the prices on the menu they can afford to turn the AC on.

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Tried the pasta in the cheese wheel, espresso martini, and the limoncello cake slice and it was all delicious!! Maria was our waitress and she was very friendly and provided great service. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Husband and I had dinner at Gaslamp yesterday. We tried this newly opened restaurant that just opened a week ago. It was a week-day, so it wasn't that busy and we were able to get in without a reservation. We got accommodated right away and were seated on a nice spot where I could see all of the beauty of the restaurant. The changes they made inside this restaurant is beautiful and very welcoming, we love the Italian vibe , the Italian music and the big Colosseum painted on the wall. Our server came right away and introduced himself as ALEC, he was very friendly and very helpful on explaining what was on their Menu, and with lots of patience too, waiting for what we will order. I like a server like that, he makes us feel like we aren't in a rush to order. We ordered the following. * NOT YOUR NONNA'S TIRAMISU *APPETIZER - VONGOLE E COZZE *OXTAIL OSSOBUCO *CALAMARI RIPIENI *DESSERT - LIMONCELLO While waiting for our food we also saw our friend at the restaurant with his Family. The food we ordered didn't take that long to come. My Not your Nonna's Tiramisu drink & our Appetizer, the VONGOLE E COZZE, came quick. My drink was delicious and the mussels and Clams were delicious. The size of the mussels and clams were good, thank goodness they weren't tiny ones. It came with a Fresh, hot toast. My husband and I enjoyed this Appetizer. Then our main meal came, the OXTAIL OSSOBUCO and the CALAMARI RIPIENI. Omg these 2 dishes that we ordered were a great choice, their OXTAIL OSSOBUCO was so tender, so soft, and so Tasty. I forgot to take a picture of how my Husband devoured his Ossobuco, like the bone is so clean with no meat left on it, that's how good it was. Now for the CALAMARI RIPIENI. The moment I saw on their Menu that it had STUFFED CALAMARI, stuffed with crab meats and fresh herbs, I didn't look further and ordered it right away. This Calamari is also a must get here, it came with 2 big Stuffed Calamari that was on top of my spaghetti. I first tasted the pasta and it has a good marinara sauce, and the Pasta was cook well, Aldente. Omg, when I sliced the Stuffed Calamari it was Filled with Stuffing! It's a Fat Calamari! The calamari is nice and it's not chewy, it's very easy to slice and to eat, it was a really good one. I kept going back and front from my plate and to my husband's 'coz both of the foods that we ordered were just that so good. For our Dessert they did not have a paper menu printed yet, but our server Alec explained to us what they have and we chose the LIMONCELLO . Usually I will only take a bite of the dessert we order at any restaurant we dine in and leave the rest to my husband, but this time it seemed that he was the one got a spoon of the limoncello only 'coz I ate most of it :) I did enjoyed our dinner at ROMANISSIMO . It has a nice ambiance, very good food, and good service. Also, thank you to our Friend who was on the other table dining with his Family and surprised us with the drinks and Dessert on him. Parking is tough even when we came on the week days. Oh well, it's downtown, it's always busy. We are always in Gaslamp and Little Italy, so we're definitely visiting Romanissimo again.

Yelp
New place, it was ok. I would give it a three but since new and working out the bugs a four. Great service and the food was just ok.

Yelp
Ciao this newly opened and locally owned Italian Restaurant at the Gaslamp District is truly amazing. The owner is very hands on and makes sure that his customers have a wonderful dining experience. The staff is attentive and the food is very authentic and delicious. The place is spacious and offers a pleasant ambiance. Parking is quite challenging in the district but you'll forget all that hassle once you're inside this restaurant. My family and I had a great dining experience. Grazie

Eric C.

Yelp
Food was amazing and wait time for it wasn't long. Decent prices for the quality and quantity of the food. Good music and nice vibe of the restaurant.

Priyanka M.

Yelp
From the moment that we stepped into the restaurant, the ambiance was welcoming and the staff were beyond kind and attentive. We were immediately seen to, and our waiter was incredibly helpful in selecting the correct wine for our meal, as well as getting our orders in very quickly. For food, we ordered the salad, bread with tapenade, bruschetta with ricotta, cheese wheel pappardelle, and limoncello cake. Not only did all of the food come out within minutes (less than 10), but we also received limoncello to drink with the cake, which was unexpected but not unwelcome. All of the food was delicious, but the pappardelle was unlike any pasta we've had before, and seeing the cheese wheel lit on fire was a unique experience! This quantity of food was also perfect for three girls, as our waiter had recommended. Would definitely come here again, and look forward to seeing this spot become a neighborhood favorite!

Yelp
Valentine's Day turned into Galentine's Day for us out it towners. It was hard to get reservations for dinner or one without a pre-fixe menu. But luckily we found one with early reservations available. The interior of the restaurant was slightly dark but our server quickly place a small lamp on the table giving us plenty of lighting. We ordered our entrees with a couple of sides. My entree was delicious, Radiatori Al Suga. Yummy spiral pasta with tomato sauce and oxtail meatball. If you know about oxtails, they are tender and flavorful and these were no exception. The sauce included cubed carrots, onions and of course tomatoes. It was so filling that I couldn't, despite my best efforts, finish it. My friend said the Branzino was perfectly cooked, and that the sauce with the capers was phenomenal. Crispy on the outside edges, and just right on the inside. Service was great, folks were friendly...what else could we ask for?

Brendie G.

Yelp
The service was great. So friendly and lively place. staff super nice, loved the ambiance. Great spot to people watch, dinner and drinks. Definitely coming back loved it.

Katheryn C.

Yelp
Amazing warm inviting service from Calogero. Oxtail Ossobuco was the best! Will be coming back if we are in town...

Yelp
service was wonderful. Fabio was an amazing server, very attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is well decorated and the ambiance was excellent. My entire party enjoyed everything they ordered, both food and drinks.

Yelp
We are visiting San Diego for a few days. We ordered the cheese wheel pasta, hot pasta is tossed into a hollowed out wheel of Parmesan cheese, and the heat of the pasta melts the inside of the cheese. We have had this in Eataly before and it's delicious and creamy. We are vegetarians, we were surprised to see them mixing chicken in the cheese wheel. So we asked the waitress if the same cheese wheel is going to be used for the vegetarian preparation as well, and she was honest enough to say it is! We just made them not prepare it in the wheel, it was average to say the least. I had a fettuccini Alfredo, it was ok. And my 6 year old had a spaghetti with marianara, also ok. Burrata with eggplant was different and good. Gelato while tasted fine, texture and consistency was not correct. Customer service was not commendable at all, I could see the place was super busy, that probably had something to do with it. Overall, an average experience.

Connor R.

Yelp
Friendly staff, fast service, delicious food, and great ambiance. This place checks all the boxes of a good restaurant.

Yelp
1st and foremost the food is absolutely amazing. Wow the service was on point and the best part he knew except what to recommend. I feel like I stepped in out of Europe and can't wait to go back! The only thing I would say is maybe just maybe change the wardrobe, other than that .. thank God the gaslamp brought a piece of Rome here.

Yelp
Food was great, very authentic Italian. The homemade mozzarella on the margherita pizza was chef's kiss, and even a basic spaghetti marinara (for my 3 year old toddler) was so delicious. Our server Maria was helpful with great recommendations from the menu. Thank you, will be back!

Felt like family. Food was phenomenal. Lasagna Al Sugo Romano - loved Ravioli di Aragosta - YUM. If you love pink sauce and appreciate a good pasta like I do, it's a must-have. I didn't even take a picture because we dug right in and finished every bite. Would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommend sitting on the patio. Better ambience and people watching!

Yelp
Went to this Italian restaurant our 2nd day of back to back Italian dinners in San Diego and this place was as good as our previous restaurant we tried. I had a pasta dish with oxtail meatballs and my wife had their special lobster dish which both were fantastic . Our waitress was also the best.

Yelp
For one, the food is absolutely delicious. Artichoke ravioli is perfectly creamy and cooked and the pizza was the right crunch with delicious sauce, cheese, and toppings. Maria was an amazing server with wonderful recommendations, great attention to detail, and making sure we enjoyed and water was topped up. The seats are comfy, the music isn't too loud, and outside seating has a high glass wall to separate from the street perfectly. Even prices were amazing! 20-30 for an entree that fills you up and leaves you feeling great. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
What a nice Italian restaurant in San Diego. Our server, Marcelo, was very kind, knowledgeable, and very attentive to our needs, without being overbearing. We ordered the Bruschetta Amatriciana to start, and then the Lobster Ravioli and the Papardelle presented tableside in their famous cheese wheel. Everything was enjoyable, and every bite devoured. We actually were too full for dessert; maybe next time. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience!

Yelp
As a concierge in downtown Gaslamp I recommend Romanissimo to people all the time. The atmosphere is romantic and fun at the same time, the music set perfectly in cultural style (and volume is always a bonus!). The uniforms as a unique and fun feature as well! The service is great, always lovely hosts at the front and Shannon at the bar is very kind with a genuine smile. I enjoyed their Happy Hour which I find priced at a great deal. I loved the thick slices of Parmesan on top of the fresh Caesar salad and the Radiatori Al Sugo has depth of rich flavor well balanced with a fresh tomato sauce. Great for families big and small, dates and occasions, or simply a worthwhile lunch if you're out on a break or exploring downtown.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 6:45 PM and arrived at 7:04 PM. At 7:10 PM, we asked for water, which was promptly given to us at 7:14 PM. At 7:22 PM, we placed our order. 40 minutes after our initial reservation. At 7:35 PM, we received our calamari and bruschetta. However, we had received ricotta instead of bruschetta. The calamari was soggy and lacked seasoning. It was served with Chick-fil-A sauce clone along with a marinara, and was poorly plated, with pieces of the calamari falling into the sauce cups. This was unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, the experience felt rushed and unappreciative. On the positive side, the bruschetta was sweet and savory, with a perfect balance of truffle. It was the only enjoyable dish we had so far. The lasagna was also good, with a delightful combination of white and red sauce. The seasoning was well-balanced, and the pasta was cooked al dente. The carbonara, however, was mediocre. It lacked any special qualities and felt bland. The sauce seemed to be missing either more cheese or more seasoning. Willing to give the restaurant some slack as it was the valentine's day rush, but I felt that the overall service of the restaurant was poor. There was no clear difference of reservation for inside or outside, despite expressing that I had wanted an inside table when making the reservation. Our server had only spoken to us a total of 3 times: our drink order, our main order, and when we received the check.
