In town for a short stay and the hotel concierge recommended this place. The restaurant was conveniently located nest our hotel and the ambiance was fabulous. Greeted immediately at the door and seated with no wait . Alec, our server was attentive, and knowledgeable about the choices and recommendations. Food was amazing and the dinner was topped off with a complimentary dessert ( it was my birthday). Whenever you are in the downtown San Diego area ( GasLamp), please visit Romanissimo. You won’t regret it!

We celebrated a friend’s birthday here, and it was exactly the kind of Saturday night you hope for—great energy, a perfect round table for our group of ladies, and an atmosphere that felt lively without being chaotic. The menu hit all my authentic Italian favorites. The carpaccio di manzo was fresh, the lobster ravioli came with a sauce so good I’m still thinking about it, and the absolute standout of the night was the rack of lamb—perfectly seasoned, tender, and YUM. The service was fantastic! Every server who came by was warm, fun, and clearly cared that we were having a great time. It made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Our drinks flowed effortlessly from Prosecco, to red wine, and, naturally, we wrapped things up with an espresso martini because the night was far from over. A solid five stars from me—excellent food, great atmosphere, I’d come back in a heartbeat.

The setup with inside and outside seating is great especially after 6pm. The floors were unusually slippery, be forewarned. Our servers were very good Ask for their bread the door, it was so fresh, light, with just enough crunch for the virgin olive oil. The cheese bowl pasta (w/chicken) was amazing! Not too parm salty, noodles al dente, sauces were just creamy perfection.🤌🏾 Ceasar salad was almost as good as in Mexico. The entrée that stole the show was the oxtail & risotto... I'll drive another 100 miles for that, 2 pieces wasn't enough it was so good. The oxtail meatball dish was ok, the other meats dominated the flavor although you could tell it was different, pasta was good. Overall a solid choice for Italian food.

One of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had! The pasta was perfectly seasoned, and the mushrooms inside were incredibly juicy and flavorful. The pizza was crispy and delicious, with everything seasoned just right, full of rich, balanced flavors. Our server, Alec, was super friendly and made sure we had an amazing dining experience. Overall, it turned into one of my favorite dining experiences ever. Highly recommend! 🍝🍕✨

My husband and I had dinner at Romanissimo and absolutely loved it! Our server, Maria, was a breath of fresh air — so friendly and enthusiastic, offering great recommendations from the menu that turned out to be just as delicious as she promised. We enjoyed it so much we went back again, and this time our server, Marcelo, was equally wonderful. The food was outstanding, the wine was delicious, and the service both times was truly magnificent.

Being Locals, it’s nice when you’re treated with kindness and respect! This place is great! Food is tasty…I love the Carpacio! The Calamari was excellent and the Pizza Davola was cooked to perfection! Even better, the service! Calogero (aka Charlie) was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He was very attentive and friendly!!! Ashley makes the best Aperol Spritz!!! Thank you so much!!!

This is such a good establishment, from the food to the atmosphere, to hospitality. Everything was amazing, my friend recommended we go here and it was wonderful. We’re very happy. The food was delicious! The atmosphere, the servers everything was so lovely. We will be back!

In the Gaslamp area there's no shortage of good restaurants. But one has to choose whichever you personally would prefer. For me I look for the special parts of the menu where I normally do not have every day. Today was the cheese wheel pasta. This is a rich dish where you can share and have room for dessert. The pasta and oxtail meatballs is super comfort food that you can only experience. The service was perfect where your server doesn't need to keep checking on you. If you need your server, if the host sees you they will not hesitate to come by. The decor felt very Italian and you can feel and hear every one having a great time. Great food can do this when done right. And this they do.

Yelp
Amazing service as usual. This has become a recurrent place for me for Italian food in Gaslamp. I ordered the Ravioli di Aragosta and it was 10/10. Fabio provided a great service. Will be here again next week.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious and we received exceptional service from our server, Fabio.

Yelp
Fantastic happy hour prices! Espresso martini's so good that we had to get another round to wash down one of the better flatbread margarita pizzas I've had. Service was great and the Italy theme was radiant. Perfect spot for dinner or pregame drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Since moving to SD we've searched high-and-low for the perfect pizza place. We checked out there menu online to make sure they offered it, which they do, and decided to give it a try. (we live in the Marina District and want pizza walking distance from the condo) They don't have a huge pizza menu, there are 4 different types on the menu. My husband is a 'traditional' pizza person, so we got the Margherita (Margherita and Pepperoni are his preference). It was REALLLLLLY good. We had one minor complaint, that it could have been cooked a hair longer. The complaint will not keep us from going back, it's definitely one of the best in the area. We walked in just as it opened and were the first seated (which may have something to do with feeling like the pizza was slightly underdone). Our waitress was polite and went into the kitchen when I asked if their bread had egg in it (it does). However, we didn't get a lot of attention from her other than the basics (drink order, food order). The food was delivered by someone else (probably from the kitchen, I didn't notice), I would have expected her to come check on us right after it came out but she did not - again, we were the first customers and it was a while before anyone else came in so she certainly wasn't that busy. The decor is lovely and perfectly suited to their name and menu. I believe I ordered a beer and the hubs got a soda, so nothing fancy from the bar to report on. Neither of us visited the restroom. We'll definitely be back. I look forward to eating that pizza again! Thank you for reading my review.

Yelp
There's a lot to like about Romanissimo. The food I tried was very good and unassuming, and the place was busy on the Sunday night I came, which is always a good sign. I like that the guys behind the bar (and I'm assuming in the kitchen and in the front of the house) have some connection to Rome. Matteo, my bartender, did. And he was very attentive At times, a little too attentive as I'm pretty sure I let it be known I wasn't in a rush to order. But once he got to talking about Rome and Italy, he completely warmed up. i'm not sold on the decor, though. Faux brick appearing through panels of wallpaper may have suggested ancient Rome, but I found it frought and Cabrini Green-esque. The Carpaccio of beef was sliced with culinary precision and presented traditionally while managing to whet the appetite without overpowering it. I had the Pizza Margherita for my main course and it was simply divine. The pizza dough was baked to maximum crispiness while retaining the chewy DNA of pizza dough. I want to add that the bar seats are quite elegant. Suggestive of white Italian leather, their sleek design and arresting presence don't quite jive with the rest of the place which makes my head ache. Matteo needs to slow his roll. Not everybody is ready or willing to order their food the moment they sit down. And please get more red pepper shakers. I LOVE red pepper flakes so when Matteo asked me if he could use mine to accommodate another guest, I agreed, of course, but wonder why an Italian restaurant has to ask its diners to share a staple of the kind of food served at Romanissimo. Overall, it was a really good dining experience and with a little tightening of their service, there's no reason to believe they won't be a Gaslamp staple for years to come. Bon Apetito!

Yelp
Large Italian restaurant in the heart of the gaslamp on the corner of 5th and Market. We were seated promptly at a table inside. The decor feels like you are dining in Rome. Service: our server was great and even asked if there were any allergies. Unfortunately, they told me they use the same oil to fry everything in, so I couldn't sample the calamari / shrimp appetizer that our party offered. Food: complimentary bread was soft and warm. The table ordered the fried calamari and shrimp and said it was very light and not greasy. For entrees, I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly and nicely presented. Only thing is I would've liked more pesto cream sauce with it. I also tried my son's pasta dish with a butter / cheese sauce (not on the menu) and thought it was delicious! Note, the kids cheese pizza is basically cheesy bread (no sauce). My husband got the cheese wheel pasta and said it was fantastic. I heard the lobster raviolli was also excellent. The only complaint is someone ordered the filet mignon cooked medium and it was super red / rare in the middle, which was disappointing. We had a lemon tart and strawberry shortcake for dessert, both were well liked. I did think it was a little pricey. We had a larger party and I believe they included tip and we didn't realize and tipped again, so that could've been part of it. Kids meals were more than average at $15 each.

Yelp
Randomly stumbled upon this place while drinking and gaming around Gaslamp and I am glad we did! I've been craving Italian food for a while and this place was amazing! We ordered some calamari and Caesar salad to start and both were decent. I ordered the cheese wheel pasta and it was incredible! The flavor is very tasty, I was obsessed. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the serving is a lot. I could not finish it so I took it to go. We were actually just in SD for the weekend and I ended up forgetting my leftover in the hotel when we checked out and I am still very upset about it even until now :( In other words, I highly recommend ordering the cheese wheel pasta, you won't regret it! It's FREAKING delicious. I will honestly be back JUST for their pastas. The service was great too, servers were friendly and food came out quick. I know being in Gaslamp, the amount of food choices in the strip is overwhelming but come try this place!

Yelp
Came here twice this week. Don't remember our first server's name but she was great. Fabio was so helpful and attentive on our second visit. He went above and beyond and made my bday so special. So customer service 10 out of 10. The food was also delicious as well. We ordered different items on each visit and so far all the food has been great.

Yelp
The service here was horrible! The server told us the chef was pissy tonight so he didn't want to ask him anymore questions. I asked if I can have the vongole with just clams, no mussels. He said NO! And I accepted that there were no accommodations to be made. When it came out there were no clams at all! The good thing was the server was aware that the chef did a crappy job and gave us only mussels which was not what was describe in the menu. The mussels had a very spoiled fishy smell and tasted like rotten fish. Let's hope we don't get sick. I, for one did not taste it nor touched the dish. On top of it they gave us a very dirty, salty martini and a very old flat Cabernet. The other server acknowledged it and opened a new bottle of bonanza in front of us and poured me another glass which tasted a whole lot better. I think these guys were really horrible in their service and their rushed attitude and thought since they get tons of visitors a night they can be any type of way to their guests. I will not venture back out to this restaurant even though I have wanted to try this place since last year. The servers are too rushed to accommodate the assembly line of orders they have and have no control of the pissy chefs making our food. The ribeye we ordered was instead a NY steak which we were okay with however it was way too salty and had our blood pressure through the roof. They also charged a service charge for dining that is less than accommodating. We on top of that tipped so they received an extra "tip" upon a tip. According to one of the waiters they are busy and get about 250 visitors a day so I guess our visit was not as important because they have more than enough guests a day to keep them moving. Again I will not be back until management makes a huge change. If you're in the area I urge you to skip this place, there's too many restaurants in the area that are better in service and food!

Yelp
Decided to celebrate my best friend's 40th birthday at this establishment on a Thursday night. Got seated right away by the window. Fabio, our server, was fantastic! He was very attentive & polite. We loved him! I took a star off for the kitchen.. food took forever and our salad came out before the bread! Bread that wasn't complimentary which I find odd at a fancy Italian place. Other than that mild complaint, we had a great experience and the tableside cheese wheel pasta was worth the money! Fabio put on a great show for us! Also restaurant is beautifully decorated and had perfect lighting ambiance. I recommend this place for a date and special occasion. They even gave a free slice of cake with a candle on it for my bestie! Awesome place!

Yelp
1. Fabio was amazing and on Thursday evening we had a wonderful server as well (forgot her name but thank you!). 2. Everything has been delicious so far and we've come back twice in a week. Won't be the last time. Who needs to go to little Italy?!

Yelp
Went here last Sat for our anniversary. I was underwhelmed. Our waiter Fabio was less than attentive. We had to ask if there were any specials. He did not ask us if we were celebrating anything (we were) And once we got our food, he never checked on us at all. The place was NOT busy and he walked past our table at least 5 times never once checking on us. As far as the food is concerned, it lacked flavor. A little seasoning goes a long way. I would not return to this place.

Yelp
Came here for my wedding rehearsal dinner and it was an incredible experience. Reservation for 13 people and they had the table ready to go and service was prompt. I wish I got her name but June 19th 5:30pm service team was on point. Polite and attentive. The food portion, quality to price ratio was all on point. Everyone enjoyed the food and service. Would highly recommend this place for large group meals or even date night.

Yelp
Walked in around 5:40 on a weekend and was delighted that we discovered their great happy hour which ended at 6. Would definitely recommend happy hour but for full price we didn't think the food was that great... just good. Service was great though and also loved their spritz which was only $10 on happy hour. Very cute Italy vibes inside but idk about the costume uniforms.

Yelp
I recently came here and ordered the bruschetta, the goat cheese salad, the charcuterie tray, and the cacio e pepe. The bruschetta was actually good. It was the best thing that we had all day. Unfortunately, the goat cheese salad made the person I was with sick. And the cacio e pepe was just okay. I've had cacio e pepe in Rome, and this was no comparison. In addition, the ambiance was lacking tremendously. Our server felt hostile at times, was not warm and welcoming. And on top of that, they sat us at a table towards the front of the restaurant where all of the dirty plates were being thrown in, so I couldn't even have a conversation with the person I was with because of the noise of the plates.

Yelp
We were leaving Comic Con and looking for a spot for dinner and came across Romanissimo because it was short walk away from the convention center. Since it is Comic Con, everywhere was busy with insane wait times. When we first approached the host stand we were told they were taking reservations only and no walk ups, but after checking the reservations online we found a slot for almost immediate seating. We found it a little odd that we were initially turned away when there were so many reservation slots available, but we didn't think too much of it since we were just happy to have a table. The space was very cute, and even though it was very crowded, I felt it would be a great option for someone looking for a nice dinner out. There was plenty of seating indoors as well as some spots outside in their patio. The food itself is also very solid. We started with a Bruschetta Ricotta which I enjoyed and the Pizza Diavola I ordered was also very tasty. Everyone else at my table ordered different pizzas and pastas and from my impression everyone enjoyed their meals. It's not the best Italian food you will ever eat but it's tasty and better than any chain you'll visit. The real let down of the night was the service. From the hosts to our server we were left with a poor impression of Romanissimo. While one of our hosts was very sweet while seating us, the initial host we talked to about seating was not friendly, and even with my booked reservation gave standoffish service while checking me in. On top of that our server failed almost every aspect of our dinner. He would make rare appearances at our table, even while we would see him check frequently on tables around us. While the entrees came out fast, our appetizers and wine were nowhere to be found, and we had to ask a manager where our missing items were. While we understand the restaurant was busy with Comic Con, if someone has time to chat with their other tables, they should have time to run 3 glasses of wine and an appetizer before entrees hit the table. We even had a food runner carelessly shove the appetizer we initially were not served on our table. It was all a disappointment because aside from the poor service, this would be a great option for dinner when in the area. Unfortunately even though I'll be back in San Diego in the near future, Romanissimo is not somewhere I would want to stop at again. I know many Italian spots in SD with better food and far better service.

Yelp
This place was great. The food was really good. Hubby had the seafood pasta special and I had the cheese wheel (delicious!). Our server Maria was Italian which made the experience feel so authentic! Loved it.

Yelp
Marcelo gave us excellent service, thank you Marcelo!!!! The food was also really delicious!

Yelp
Located in the famous GasLamp Quarters of downtown San Diego, Romanissimo Cucina Italiano is among the latest restaurants to open. Parking is a challenge but is available at nearby parking garages for a fee. Was invited to dine here with a group and we ordered multiple dishes, shared family style to savor the claim of fame Trastavere style. Trastavere is a magical area in Rome which still had cobble stone narrow streets, artisan shops, trattoria restaurants casual and lively. Have traveled to various cities in Italy including Rome and I could see how this restaurant tried to simulate the greatness in the dishes offered. Everything was presented nicely, looked and tasted delicious; the roasted artichokes, grilled prawns, oxtail osso buco, cheese pappardelle pasta, tiramisu and wine were all showcased and very tasty but so believe the recipes might have been altered to meet American palate standards, as true Italian recipes are more robust. Service from the staff was cordial and helpful but a tad slow. The restaurant interior has ample indoor seating, a full bar with a tv monitor, a wine storage showcased via the glass box and the decor throughout depicts areas of Rome like the wall painted art of the iconic Colosseum. Outdoor patio seating available as well, is a nice to way experience the liveliness of the Gaslamp quarters, which is very touristy. Perhaps the special feature of this restaurant is the potential intimate ambiance seating inside; with a nice bottle of Italian wine, share a dish or two to savor and feel all that is romantic and Romanissimo! Recommend

Yelp
This prime corner in the Gaslamp Quarter had been the home of two upscale seafood restaurants before being converted to an Italian eatery. The new owners happen to operate a portfolio of Italian spots around town. Romanissimo Cucina Italiana inherited a large space that was refurbished to reflect the change in cuisine style. Between the sidewalk tables and the inside dining room, at least 100 customers could be seated. A long bar with 10 spots was to the far right of the room when you entered. The food categories consisted of breads, beginnings, salads, pinza/pizza, pasta, secondi (entrees), and sides. Grilled octopus was available as an appetizer which is one of my normal choices. However, one of the entrees was the Calamari Ripieni that featured giant calamari stuffed with crab meat, fresh herbs, and spicy tomato sauce over spaghetti. It caught my eye because of its uniqueness and became my main dish. The Polpette di Coda was my pick for a starter. This was three oxtail meatballs stewed in fresh tomato sauce. The meatballs had a coarser texture from the braised oxtail as opposed to the smooth consistency of ground beef. The dish was expensive at $22 for the medium size meatballs. Back to the entree, two pieces of stuffed calamari were paired with a mound of spaghetti. I loved the large size of the squid as it's typically served as a much smaller portion. It was like eating a crab cake but with calamari as the vehicle instead of breading. My visit was during the last hour of business so it was quiet with maybe two or three other parties seated in the vast dining area. Consequently, the service was just fine as the staff had to deal with fewer customers. I enjoyed my dinner at Romanissimo Cucina Italiana to give the experience a four star rating.

Yelp
Had a wonderful dinner here at Romanissimo . This spot used to be Salt Water restaurant. This new Romanissimo , their decors are much better . Started off with our Clams and Mussels as our appetizer with 2 toasted bread on it and an extra basket of Toast bread on the side my wife requested. The Mussels and Clams are in good portions with a delicious broth. I had their OXTAIL OSSOBUCO and it's very tender and very tasty, one of the most delicious Oxtail Ossobuco I had. Wifey got her Pasta with a Squid stuffed with Crab, she seem that she really liked it because she forgot to offer some for me to try it. We had a great dinner at this new restaurant Romanissimo located in Gaslamp. Great service from Alec and Gio. We really enjoyed their delicious food and drinks.

Yelp
great new spot and much needed addition to the gaslamp area. Located on the corner of 5th and market st, this place is right in the middle of all the action. Came here during the soft launch and had a great time. Started off the night at the bar with some top shelf negronis and then transitioned over to the table to dinner. Great way to kill time if youre reservation wait time is long. We started with the spicy prawns which were delicious with the right amount of green pepper spice. For dinner we went with the carbonara and artichoke raviolis .. both portions were right on and went down well with some house red wine. Save some room for tiramisu. Also pack a bit a patience while this new place works out the kinks... again, wait it out at the bar with some cocktails and you'll be fine.. Lots of paid parking around the gaslamp.

Yelp
Beautifully walkable location right on Fifth. We ordered half the menu amd not a single dish disappointed. The Cacio e pipe was my personal favorite, but you can't go wrong with any of the dishes.

Yelp
Fantastic service tonight at Romanissimo thanks to our server, Matteo. Wonderful food suggestions lead us to try the Cheese Wheel pasta. It was dinner and a show as they melted our pasta over a giant wheel of cheese. Fantastic.

Yelp
Ok so let me start by saying that if you're looking for a cheap bite to eat, this is not the place for you. But if you want the Nonna experience, then pull up a chair and enjoy. Everything we ordered was simply delicious. You're going to be taken on a trip to Italy from the first bite of that warm and tasty bread - make sure to add some evoo and balsamico. Don't forget the dessert. The limoncello cake is a must-have for sure. Lastly, our server Maria was delightful and attentive taking the experience to a whole new level. I wish we lived closer because this place is now on my list of favorites. 10/10

Yelp
Everything about this meal was great! The ambiance, service, and food, all amazing. We were a group of six, each having to pay separately because it was a business outing. Fabio was great during our entire visit and extremely patient when the time came to split the check. I highly recommend you go and enjoy a meal there. The spaghetti carbonara and the cheese wheel pasta, chef's kiss!

Yelp
Romanissimo Cucina transports you into a Italian wine cellar the moment you step in from the hustle and bustle of Gaslamp. The food was good! We had the bruschetta amatriciana, the artichoke ravioli, and the radiatori al sugo. Overall it is a good spot but when compared to some of the phenomenal spots in Little Italy at a similar price point it is hard to justify coming here. Perhaps in the future going for a drink or happy hour just to enjoy the interior/ambiance.

Carrie M.

Yelp
Such a great server. Enjoyed our experience and Italian meal. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The food at this place was amazing, leaving you drooling before it ever hits your pallet. The service is on point. The staff is very attentive from the servers all the was to the GM and owner. This is the perfect spot for a first date, the ambiance it romantic and definitely sets the mood for fun, laughs and lots of love

Yelp
The food was really mid I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken and it was really runny and didn't have much flavor until I doctored it up myself. My boyfriend ordered the lasagna and we both agree the he frozen version from Costco is better. Our drinks were canned and they were really flat and not really cold. This place is pretty expensive for the quality of the food. Our server was really sweet and attentive though I can't complain about that. The environment itself is nice but we were sat outside and i constantly was swept with the smell of piss. Not a great scent while I'm eating. I don't think I'll be coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
Tasteless food that was way overpriced. $14 in water to start the meal. $28 muscles/clams that were the smallest I have ever seen. $36 lobster ravioli that wasn't as good as store bought. Barely saw the waiter and waited 15 minutes after the plates were all cleared to get our check. Would never come back.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
I have NEVER been to a restaurant that charges you for bread. The server asked at the beginning if we wanted bread and I said yes, no mention of there being a charge for it. Ordered the charcuterie board, for $28 they can do a lot better on it. Olives had sliced almonds on them which was weird, the meat on it was less than desirable and cheeses were good but there was nothing sweet on it, ie fig jam, honeycomb, fruit so we asked if they had some fig jam and server brought it out and charged us $3 for a few tablespoons. There was also a $3.75 up charge added to bill. My daughter had the Alfredo and I had spaghetti carbonara, both were ok but nothing to be revisited, odd from an Italian restaurant. Service was less than mediocre and her personality left a lot to be desired.
google avatar

Parth S.

Yelp
Service is horrible. They get so much traffic that the servers choose which tables they pay more attention than other tables. I saw the table next to us getting phenomenal service but for ours, we didn't get a bread basket, didn't get condiments (chilli flakes/etc.), food took really long to come out, and the server didn't really seem to care. There are plenty of places to eat at near by. Don't waste your money over here.

Tina C.

Yelp
This was our first time here and we were very impressed with our waiter Fabio and with how authentic our meal was. Fantastico!

Yelp
Formerly known as Saltwater, this restaurant has now changed to an Italian theme. We came for happy hour and went crazy since the menu is so extensive! We ordered calamari, the mussels and clams, margarita pizza, polpette di coda pasta, Caesar salad, and the oyster and wine special ($25!). Everything was so good! I would maybe skip the pizza next time. Service was very attentive and fast! definitely on my list for happy hours

Yelp
The outside seating was grand. Saturday night, May 3rd.... So a lot of weekend traffic to people watch.... Thomas our waiter was dressed authentically, and quite attentive at each turn. His recommendations were spot on. Pasta, wine and delightful small convo. Thomas lead us through a grand evening, (and it don't cost nearly that much, lol.) Wifey had lobster ravioli, I had lobster something - (little ricotta cheese and green basil sauce) = absolutely spot on. Even the bread was delicious, prolly the best bread, i have ever had in public dining. Plus, (bonus) pour your own balsamic and oil . Yum. Just delightful. An Italian guy wondered by, maybe the owner, manager, A paid Italian guy to walk around... ( whatever). He was hilarious, authentically happy and didn't understand a thing I said. I laughed with him. We laughed together. Good times.

Yelp
What a cute little Italian eatery right in the middle of the action in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. The charcuterie was delicious and the homemade lobster ravioli with vodka cream sauce and warm bread sealed the deal. The service was stellar and our server Calogero brought knowledge. His accent is pretty special too! Do yourself a favor and stop by to say hello.

Yelp
Husband and I had dinner at Gaslamp yesterday. We tried this newly opened restaurant that just opened a week ago. It was a week-day, so it wasn't that busy and we were able to get in without a reservation. We got accommodated right away and were seated on a nice spot where I could see all of the beauty of the restaurant. The changes they made inside this restaurant is beautiful and very welcoming, we love the Italian vibe , the Italian music and the big Colosseum painted on the wall. Our server came right away and introduced himself as ALEC, he was very friendly and very helpful on explaining what was on their Menu, and with lots of patience too, waiting for what we will order. I like a server like that, he makes us feel like we aren't in a rush to order. We ordered the following. * NOT YOUR NONNA'S TIRAMISU *APPETIZER - VONGOLE E COZZE *OXTAIL OSSOBUCO *CALAMARI RIPIENI *DESSERT - LIMONCELLO While waiting for our food we also saw our friend at the restaurant with his Family. The food we ordered didn't take that long to come. My Not your Nonna's Tiramisu drink & our Appetizer, the VONGOLE E COZZE, came quick. My drink was delicious and the mussels and Clams were delicious. The size of the mussels and clams were good, thank goodness they weren't tiny ones. It came with a Fresh, hot toast. My husband and I enjoyed this Appetizer. Then our main meal came, the OXTAIL OSSOBUCO and the CALAMARI RIPIENI. Omg these 2 dishes that we ordered were a great choice, their OXTAIL OSSOBUCO was so tender, so soft, and so Tasty. I forgot to take a picture of how my Husband devoured his Ossobuco, like the bone is so clean with no meat left on it, that's how good it was. Now for the CALAMARI RIPIENI. The moment I saw on their Menu that it had STUFFED CALAMARI, stuffed with crab meats and fresh herbs, I didn't look further and ordered it right away. This Calamari is also a must get here, it came with 2 big Stuffed Calamari that was on top of my spaghetti. I first tasted the pasta and it has a good marinara sauce, and the Pasta was cook well, Aldente. Omg, when I sliced the Stuffed Calamari it was Filled with Stuffing! It's a Fat Calamari! The calamari is nice and it's not chewy, it's very easy to slice and to eat, it was a really good one. I kept going back and front from my plate and to my husband's 'coz both of the foods that we ordered were just that so good. For our Dessert they did not have a paper menu printed yet, but our server Alec explained to us what they have and we chose the LIMONCELLO . Usually I will only take a bite of the dessert we order at any restaurant we dine in and leave the rest to my husband, but this time it seemed that he was the one got a spoon of the limoncello only 'coz I ate most of it :) I did enjoyed our dinner at ROMANISSIMO . It has a nice ambiance, very good food, and good service. Also, thank you to our Friend who was on the other table dining with his Family and surprised us with the drinks and Dessert on him. Parking is tough even when we came on the week days. Oh well, it's downtown, it's always busy. We are always in Gaslamp and Little Italy, so we're definitely visiting Romanissimo again.

Yelp
Ciao this newly opened and locally owned Italian Restaurant at the Gaslamp District is truly amazing. The owner is very hands on and makes sure that his customers have a wonderful dining experience. The staff is attentive and the food is very authentic and delicious. The place is spacious and offers a pleasant ambiance. Parking is quite challenging in the district but you'll forget all that hassle once you're inside this restaurant. My family and I had a great dining experience. Grazie

Yelp
Valentine's Day turned into Galentine's Day for us out it towners. It was hard to get reservations for dinner or one without a pre-fixe menu. But luckily we found one with early reservations available. The interior of the restaurant was slightly dark but our server quickly place a small lamp on the table giving us plenty of lighting. We ordered our entrees with a couple of sides. My entree was delicious, Radiatori Al Suga. Yummy spiral pasta with tomato sauce and oxtail meatball. If you know about oxtails, they are tender and flavorful and these were no exception. The sauce included cubed carrots, onions and of course tomatoes. It was so filling that I couldn't, despite my best efforts, finish it. My friend said the Branzino was perfectly cooked, and that the sauce with the capers was phenomenal. Crispy on the outside edges, and just right on the inside. Service was great, folks were friendly...what else could we ask for?
