"This former farmhouse, which is over 350 years old, has been turned into the lovely Johanniter-Kreuz Romantik Hotel, complete with a tasteful, rustic-style restaurant in what was once the stable. Old beams and a central fireplace lend the space a cosy atmosphere. The food is rooted in classical culinary tradition, with regional influences and close ties to the seasons. Vegetarians are also catered for, and there is a decent wine selection." - Michelin Inspector

I only ate in the restaurant. Lovely hotel in a quiet location, but still close to Überlingen and the B31. Certainly suitable for romantic getaways! Staff were friendly, though our waiter didn’t speak any English and when I spoke German, as best I could, he mostly chose to reply to my companion (who is German) rather than me! This was a bit insulting, though I don’t think he meant to insult - he was probably just trying to keep things easy for himself! I prefer a plant based diet, but there was nothing vegan on the menu. Restaurants should always have one vegan option on their menu, and should always stock a cow milk alternative - you don’t have to be a regular vegan to select a vegan option, and some people cannot take cows milk. Overall however, a lovely place.

While we waited for our rooms to be ready, we enjoyed a hearty lunch on the terrace - German ham, cheese and bread, washed down with a refreshing Grauburgunder. The dinner menu was nice enough, though the waiters seemed a bit overworked. The restaurant has a local reputation, a choice for special occasions and fully booked on both days of our stay. Huge, comfortable rooms with super bathrooms (lovely toiletries). It was during the heatwave, so thankfully there were standing fans. Decent breakfast spread, a spacious car park and a lift. I wish I'd had time to take more photos, but we were tied up with a family celebration.

We came for lunch after searching for a good restaurant in Überlingen. We were the first customers and got seated in the dark corner of the restaurant. The service was extremely slow. Even though it was not busy, I stood up after 10 min waiting to get the menu. The amuse bouche was disappointing. All cold. We ordered the starter with the Languste. The sauce and Languste were good. The soggy (which was supposed to be probably crispy) tortellini was not good. The beef with pepper sauce was ok, nothing exciting. The dessert with mascarpone cream was not a cream but a gummy ball which was not edible. Very disappointed. Will not return.

I was there with my girlfriend for a weekend for doing some wellness. The hotel is situated a bit far from the village (and train station) Überlingen so a car is certainly practical, however we went by bus and train and were picked up at the train station by one of the employees (prior notice is necessary!)||The first impression of the hotel was very good. There are enough parking lots (note that the hotel has also a restaurant and parking can be full on weekends) and the outter surrounding is clean and neat. |Overall the friendliness of the staff was very good. The hotel manager who also cooks comes every day and meal to check if everything is ok and if we are enjoying the stay. For us, who like such treating it was really great!|The food is also an absolute highlight! The breakfast buffet is big and versatile. The lunch and dinner is highly elaborated and really good! The Schnitzel as well as the beef was very tender and delicious! Apart from the food the waiters are cery friendly and competent and the restaurant has a very nice and relaxed athmosphere (in the sense of decoration, music etc.)|The wellness and Spa is quiet new and for this size of the hotel appropriate. It has a Sanarium, a Sauna, a small tub with whirlpool function, a fitness room (mainly machines for cardio vascular training) and a relaxation area.|||Despite the many positive things, there were also some negative points: the ventilation in the bath is quiet noisy (we were situated in the older party of the hotel). Furthermore, most of the jacks did not work as well as the two lamps next to the bed.|At some places one saw a bit of spiderweb and the linens as well as the bath towels had some spots of earlier use.|In the Spa the problem was that the Sauna was not turned on (on both days) and we had to call someone to turn it on. Even then the Sauna did not work until the Spa responsable person showed up in the afternoon. However, obe must say that the employees really tried to turn it on and male it work.|As a last point one can say that the internet is rather slow (connection and when surfing) but we were there for wellness and not working so it was fine.||All in all it was a great stay and recommendable, especially the food!

Paid a visit here recently on a business trip. I chose the hotel in a hurry and was disappointed initially that it was in a small village outside of the main town, where I had hoped to walk the promenade. Nonetheless, despite a slightly remote location, it was very tranqil, well-presented and the staff attentive. ||Restaurant pricer but good overall value for money, with several local (Baden/ Bodensee) wines on the menu. The room was nicely furnished with a corner bath. Breakfast was typical self-serve German fare but well displayed and appetising, the bread especially fresh. The town is worth a visit, upscale but not over-bearing. For this hotel you need your own transport as public transport connections are infrequent. Would stay again.|

This is a hotel registered with the «family» of the «Romantik Hotels» Group that assembles under its umbrella an ever increasing number of establishments that fulfill certain strict and elevated standards of service, comfort and ambience. ||We have found that most «Romantik Hotels» that we have stayed in through our travels in Europe do indeed offer a rather high standard of accommodation. ||Located in either historic towns or villages or most often in countryside locations of particular natural beauty they tend to treat their visitors to a memorable stay.||Hotel Johanniter Kreuz is one of them. ||Not far from bustling and touristy Uberlingen on the shores of Lake Constance the idyllic village of Andelshofen is home to this extraordinary place. An old farmhouse run for centuries by the Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem it is today in the hands of the Liebich family who for four generations are managing this property. And what an excellent job indeed they are performing in a modernized and comfortable establishment with respect to the history and the traditions that they inherited.||Andreas Liebich is a talented and multi awarded chef who runs his kitchen in an impeccable manner producing dishes of high culinary value.||The ambience of both dinning rooms is of equally high aesthetic standards and every meal that we consumed during our stay at the hotel has been a memorable experience.||The breakfast buffet is typical of a place that respects the tastes and the varied morning habits of its guests. There is an incredible choice of quality offerings both in abundance and taste. ||Finally the rooms. We stayed in the old but renovated wing of the building. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and above all clean in every aspect. Old wooden beams on the ceiling and the walls created a cozy country cottage style atmosphere. This review would not be complete unless the absolutely professional performance of the personnel was mentioned. Every member of the staff that we came across expressed with a smiling face their eagerness to help us in anyway we might need help.||This is a place where one feels that LOVE is all around. Romantic hotel at its best !

Although the Hotel can be found under Überlingen, it is about 4km outside the town centre. I was on my bike but this did not present a problem. The hotel was super. I had a wonderful double room in the new extension. Spotlessly clean, a large room with super comfortable double bed. Bathroom with a separate shower and toilet also separate. The only thing that was missing were a few extras in the bathroom, such as body lotion sewing kit, shoe horn....||A tea maker (Hot water boiler) would also not be amiss. This is standard in all B&Bs and hotels in the UK, Ireland and some of the Commonwealth countries.||The restaurant was very good. Menu is not too big but what is on there is superb. Again, only critic would be that with an after dinner coffee a chocolate or truffle would be welcome.

This was our first visit to this great restaurant. The food as well as the service is excellent. The presentation is also very nice. The waiter explained the dishes with great spirit. A must visit. This is Food Lover's Paradise.
