De Nederlanden

"De Nederlanden bears its name well. The decor, the charming service and the culinary style lend this former country hotel a quintessentially Dutch atmosphere. This building has plenty of character, combining historical charm with contemporary sleekness. From your table you can either watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen or take in the delightful view of the River Vecht and the drawbridge. It is clear from the menu that Wilco Berends loves his terroir. When it comes to produce such as lamb, eel and cheese, rest assured that the chef will serve you the very best the region has to offer. Be sure to try his oyster dishes – a speciality and a great start to your meal! What follows is the result of a blend of classic expertise and contemporary playful creativity. A shining example is the slow-cooked cod that chef Berends presents on crispy fennel brunoise, combined with cockles and mussels, and finished off with a sublime buttery jus based on the cooking water from the cockles and mussels. One final tip: If you want to experience De Nederlanden to the fullest, book one of the magnificent guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

My first experience in a michelin star restaurant. It was truly awesome. The dishes were gorgeous, suprising and extremely tasty. The staff and chef were really friendly, nice and felt genuine. We had the 8-course menu and every dish was perfect. Proportion also totally perfect. Only small note I had was that the time between the last 3 courses was slightly longer then perfect, but with the nice atmosphere and view. It was of no concern and the dishes were worth the wait. Great experience

Was invited for dinner. Great cookery and very well balanced set menu. Classic style with a modern twist and some dishes bordering the experimental without going overboard. Great play with texture. Tempo of service was very nice. Staff wasn't intrusive at all, it felt like they just knew the right moment to bring the courses or be available for wine choice or questions. Impeccable

Went for my Birthday, opted for the surprise lunch menu. We had drinks and a few bites at the river seating prior to the main courses. With it being a surprise meal we had wine pairing chosen my the Sommelier Sammy who was excellent as was the rest of the service and food. Couldn’t fault it and the sun was shining.

Exquisite food including some of the best cooking of fish that I have ever had the honour of tasting. I particularly enjoyed the subtle asian notes flowing through the layers of flavour. Two of our friends chose the vegetarian menu and their food looked amazing.. They said it tasted just mind-blowingly good as the fish/meat they tried on their last visit. I now want to go back and try the vegetarian options. We enjoy wine pairings but we were surprised that none were offered on the menu. The sommelier was unflinching though and expertly put together a lovely wine journey for us which we all really enjoyed. It's worth mentioning that the location and restaurant itself is just so beautiful. Service was very attentive and personable without a trace of stuffiness. If you enjoy fine dining this is a world-class restaurant you shouldn't miss.

I start with saying we could choose a fully vegetarian menu. Then, i have to say, I stood up full! I wasn't expecting it by looking at the portions 🤣 You pay for what you get. Location was great with view on the Vecht, welcome was also great they knew who we where before we said our name .. all is taken care of. Dishes are small, but every bite is an explosion of taste and flavours. New combinations and textures, never felt before. The waiters always present. We were sitting on the opening with the windows towards the vecht. Prepare to pay 20€ or more for few grams of cheese... But you won't go away disappointed! It wouldn't be my to go dinner place, but as a once in a long while experience I can recommend it! Unless your finances are extremely good 😬😬😬😬😬

Dinner is really well done and very classic fine dinning. It was really great that there was a "pairing" non alchohol drink menu. Usually we don't take full menu but it was definitely worth to try the 8 course. Rooms are super homie (though not meant for multi night stay which allows for nice hotel hopping in the area). Make sure you give your allergy requirements few times also for breakfast.

For long time we wanted to try this restaurant and we waited for a very special occasion. It was matching our high expectations! Very nice and friendly family feelings in a beautiful location. The environment and the surroundings are already extraordinary..almost like a fairly tales. The service is impeccable and the food is great. Overall a great experience.
