Cha Cha Tang Opens in the Former Hancock St Space | Eater NY

"I mention that Tang’s name has recently been tacked onto several projects, including the Lower East Side bar Romeo’s, as part of his effort to broaden beyond being labeled solely as the “dim sum guy.”" - Jess Eng

I currently live in Europe and occasionally have cravings for certain American foods. For the last several years, chicken fried steaks and pancakes with maple syrup have been at the top of my cravings list. Thus, when the waitress placed the two plates containing these foods in front of me, it was nothing short of a miracle. The chicken fried steak was crispy and juicy and covered in ample cream sausage gravy that blended beautifully with the hash browns. The pancakes were substantial yet absorbent enough to retain lots of maple syrup and melted butter. They were absolutely divine. My thanks to the chefs for cooking such wonderful food. If I ever return to Salida, I will be sure to stop again.

This family style restaurant offers great and consistent food. The servers and cooks are the friendliest in Salida and the food is served fresh in less than 15 minutes.

Some co-workers and i stopped in for lunch around 1 pm. Since breakfast was available, I had the #4. 2 eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and pancakes. Hashbrowns were perfect. Nice and crispy but not over done. Over easy eggs and bacon were spot on. Pancakes were also good. 5 of us in total, and no complaints! Would gladly return when back in town.

Read the reviews online and decided to try this place out and it did not disappoint. I ordered way too much food and took half of it to go. The pancakes are top notch, but everything was delicious. I got one pancake, biscuit and gravy, and ham and cheese omelette with hash browns. The hash browns were almost perfect. My son got the chocolate pancakes and absolutely loved them. This place is a must go if you like breakfast.

Google
I absolutely loved this place. It was recommended by a local in Salida when we asked for the best breakfast. He wasn’t wrong! We had the banana pancake and it was fluffy and huge. Came with syrup and banana syrup. The crispy fried chicken breakfast bowl - huge bowl! Came with eggs, green chili, crispy potatoes, fried chicken and I could barely even make a dent. It was absolutely delicious. My husband had the omelette which was also really good! Staff were nice, clean and attentive.

Google
I think this place probably has good food overall but I was disappointed in my biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were just bread rolls. If it wasn't for that it would have gotten 5 stars. The gravy was great and service was top notch. Coffee carafe given for the table is a huge plus for me. I want this to be my go to breakfast place but without real biscuits I can't do it.

Yelp
We stopped in here for breakfast on our way out, and it was delicious. Hubs got the ham and cheese omelette with hashbrowns. The omelette was god and had a lot of cheese and ham in it; they definitely did not skimp on the ingredients. His order came with pancakes, so I asked if they could substitute the plain for the banana pancakes. When they came out, I had two pancakes with one slice of banana on top. At first, I thought this was not going to be good because there were no bananas. When I cut into them, I found out where those bananas were and those pancakes were delicious! They also serve them with a banana syrup, which was very tasty. And in the area, we will return!

Yelp
We stopped by on our way home for breakfast. Classic breakfast diner feel. My husband got the huevos rancheros. I got French toast. Both were great. Service was a little slow, but it sounds like they're generally short staffed so that's to be expected.

Yelp
The fluffiest pancakes I've ever had in my life! The omelette was delicious and service was on point!

Yelp
This place cooks home style breakfasts. I had the kamikaze burrito and my wife had the cheesecake pancakes with bacon. Both were amazing and served hot with a nice pot of coffee. I would eat here again anytime!

Yelp
Hash browns have what tasted like season all on them, when asked the waitress she said no there is no seasoning, just salt. Salt is not red and orange in color. You could see that there was seasoning. the menu says nothing about seasoning on them. Then she just kept saying they are fine, they are fine and walked away. The toast was not toasted, it ws grilled on one side on the grill and soggy. She the went to the area were they pick up orders and I then have several different employees looking at me and saying derogatory comments about me. Waitress did not come back to table until husband was done with his food. She then asked if I wanted something different. Well no not now and why didn't you ask when I made comment about food in the first place. After waiting for her to take payment I asked another if she would please take and cash us out so we could go. She did and as she left the receipt for me to sign I heard the original waitress tell her well I comped $2.00 for the hash browns and offered to get her something else. Well you don't do that when the others at the table are finished eating and wanting to go, beside you never came back to check on the meal or refill drinks.

Yelp
The cheesecake pancakes were light and fluffy, and my eggs were cooked perfectly to order. My husband's breakfast burrito was enormous and looked fantastic. The service was friendly and fast.

Yelp
Terrific Pancakes!! Definitely go with the pancakes, you can't lose! They are large and real!! Delicious!! Nothing fake tasting. Coffee is good too! Eggs Benedict not the best.

Yelp
Great food and great service! One of the best places for breakfast in the area. You can't visit this place and NOT have their pancakes!

Yelp
A yummy breakfast spot right off hwy 50 in Salida. The restaurant was clean and the service snappy. Everyone in the family tried something different for burgers to waffles and the breakfast burrito. Would eat here again

Yelp
Exactly what I needed. Food was great. Service from a sweet nice spoken and attentive waitress who came to my table frequently. The comfort and surroundings were classic and clean. Pleasant Marianna and the never resting support from her team was a nice return to better times in dining. NO POS demanding ridiculous tips before resting and dining. Thank you

Yelp
Great service and food! Visiting from Denver and we've had breakfast twice. Cinnamon roll is so yummy.

Yelp
The food was delicious, hot and came out very quickly. This is a new owner, menu and you can tell they have made a large investment in being successful. The service was outstanding!!! Very clean and I was impressed with the young people running the show. They were all very professional, presentable and courteous. I wish them the very best of luck!

Yelp

Yelp
Good service. Busy for breakfast and many locals so you know it has repeat customers. Fair prices. A bit noisy but still OK. Nothing fancy, just a good place to eat when you don't want to go downtown.

Yelp
I like Romeo's. Nothing fancy but good basic breakfast. Pancakes are always good and always have a pleasant experience overall.

Yelp
First, it's "Romeo's" not "Romeo". I confess, we were disappointed to find Romeo's instead of Patio Pancake Place. And to be fair, the new establishment doesn't compare. But then, not many could. Patio was a rare gem. Most of the food is okay--sort of like a more expensive Denny's--and it's served quickly by friendly staff. But we had a couple of complaints. One, the cheap silverware cuts into your fingers when you try to chop food on your plate. Painful and annoying. Two, our 'extra crispy' hash browns simply were not edible. Just my guess, but they were deep fried in oil that had long passed its expiration. Gross. I wondered how often the waitresses pick up plates of unfinished hash browns. That's about it.

Yelp
What a wonderful find....we enjoyed breakfast-solid pancakes and great service...they have a wonderful option if you are so inclined to buy a meal or more to leave on a board for people who are in need! Give to someone who is in need, it will nourish their life and fulfill yours!

Yelp
Quite popular, our first time here, since our other favorite was closed. Service was good, and attentive and very polite, I had the breakfast bowl which was quite good and filling with sausage gravy, my wife had the patty melt, which we assured was really good. BUT, when the patty melt came it was overcooked asked for medium rare, it was on regular wheat toast American cheese and some chopped onions, a smattering, not worth $10 which I could have done at home. The coleslaw was made with straight mayonnaise not good. Not come the bill, $48 before any tip. $3 for coffee, $5 for a Diet Coke, $3 for a cup of gravy for the leftovers, I mean come on! NOT WORTH IT, WILL GO TO THE GAS STATION AND GET A BURRITO

Chris M.

Yelp
It was busy but I was seated right away. The menu was simple and had exactly what I wanted. The coffee was good and they gave me a carafe so I would not have to ask or turn them down if they offered more before I was ready. I had eggs with toast and hash browns covered in sausage gravy. The food came very fast and was perfect. I eat at many little dinners like this and can't remember any better breakfast. It was perfect. They took my plate the moment I was done.

Yelp
Affordable breakfast and lunch. We eat here at least once a week. Even when crowded, in and out in 30 minutes. Pros;; omelets that are light and fluffy; pancakes that you would walk 5 miles to eat; loaded hash browns-literally you can add any item-scrumptious; biscuits and gravy; coffee; excellent t service! Cons; none Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pancakes have the most wonderful vanilla flavor. Biscuits and gravy were spot on good, and great before a hike. Friendly staff!
