The Bangkok Restaurants You Can't Miss

"Perched on a rooftop across the river from Wat Arun, this lively terrace is known for cocktails spiked with lao khao and a dinner menu that zeroes in on comforting Central Thai dishes such as rib eye krapow and playful plates like watermelon cubes topped with sun-dried snakehead fish." - Chris Schalkx

Rongros

"Meaning ‘House of Flavours,’ Rongros preserves the taste of traditional Thai cuisine on the banks of the Chao Phraya River with a stunning view of Wat Arun. Highlights include the green curry with rib eye beef served with roti and the tangy glass noodle salad. The vintage décor, including the chandeliers, painted Chinese panels, and wooden furniture only add to the experience. Book a table on the terrace for dinner to take in the view at sunset. Keep in mind that this restaurant is a favorite spot for tourists, so it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance to secure your place." - Michelin Inspector

Food 3/5 Whoever came up with the original recipes is probably a good chef. Unfortunately lots of love and attention to detail got lost along the way. Can't imagine the person who cooked our meal tonight was the one who got the Michelin stars or recognition. Stir fried cabbage lacked the typical charred flavour and crispy giant shrimps were not crispy at all. Given the hype around this restaurant I was surprised that nobody even bothered to ask whether we liked the food or not. Service 2/5 What a let down. Our waiter was super inattentive. Chatting with colleagues, or checking his phone were somehow more important than "reading the room" to see whether any table might need anything. I counted around 5 waiters for probably 15 tables in total (yes the restaurant is quite small). Not really stressful but yet service left a really bad impression. Atmosphere 5/5 Not much to say. Great view of the temple across the river..

It was our last night in Thailand, and we were hoping to enjoy some authentic Thai food with a beautiful view. When my partner made a dinner reservation, he asked for seats upstairs to see Wat Arun. At first, they said it wasn’t available, but after he explained it was our final night in Thailand, they kindly arranged seats upstairs for us. The view of the temple—especially at night—was absolutely stunning. The food was delicious and full of authentic flavors. I ordered the green curry, which was a bit too spicy for me (I’m not great with spicy food…), but it still tasted really good. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. When a table closer to the water and with a better view opened up, one of the servers asked if we’d like to move—such a thoughtful gesture. Later, when it started to rain, they even handed out umbrellas to customers sitting outside. The restaurant itself is quite small, and the staircase to the upstairs seating is narrow and steep so it can get crowded quickly but the incredible view makes it totally worth it.

We heard great things about the food it was on the Michelin guide for a good local restaurant. We emailed for a reservation because we could not get through on the phone & had trouble with the app. After a few days they got back to us & they said there was a table up on the deck but not a good one. To be honest it was more about trying the highly recommended food so we took it. The reservation was for 8pm Which I found strange as the kitchen closes at 9pm. It meant meals were all rushed out quickly. We over ordered to try everything & a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which he repeated the price of a couple times. Perhaps we didn’t look like we could afford it lol. The food was Amazing! Highly recommend, persist with the booking process. Service was attentive until 8:40 when I had to put our own wines (which I prefer). We both wanted to use the bathroom on the way out but a staff member had hosed out the one bathroom for all & water was everywhere so no way you could use it & it was 8:50.

Great atmosphere the restaurant is not just the well located right of Wat Arun. Extremely Beautiful sunset! The temple is amaze. The food is real Thai authentic. The dishes were beautiful decoration also much more on the taste.Service is great. The restaurant is quite difficult to book. Must well plan in advance especially if you want to see the sunset time. and the table also need to turn. Love the noodles salad and drink

Had the best meal here during our Bangkok trip. Everything we ordered was very delicious! We had the wok fried vermicelli honey pickled garlic, chargrilled NZ ribeye Isaan Style and wok fried garlic chili prawns. For dessert, we had mango sticky rice and coconut ice cream. Service was spot on! and they gave us a surprise.... watermelon and aromatic snakehead fish piquant which was surprisingly good (!) and 2 lychee pomegranate juices....all complimentary! And of course, the view!!!

The 4th time I came to Thailand and booked this restaurant. The booking channel changed to via Line, email and a clear phone number with clear conditions and information. I personally booked for the evening 3 weeks before coming. Although I didn't get a table by the window or the river view, I admit that this restaurant has the most beautiful view. I ordered many dishes to eat with friends. The atmosphere is good, the food is delicious. I recommend trying it once. The restaurant supports walk-in customers, but not many, because some tables are booked.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The traditional glass noodle salad, three-smelling fried rice, and traditional dry-fried braised pork are very delicious. The young staffs are very polite and recommend good food. The atmosphere in the evening is beautiful along the Chao Phraya River. I recommend coming here. It is a small but cozy restaurant.

Authentic Thai food with great view of Wat Arun. We tried “Gang Kia” turmeric coconut curry with king mackerel and minced pork cake with salted kulao fish from Takbai (south of Thailand). They are superb and authentic.
