Texas A&M University Campus: Where to Eat and Drink Around TAM | Eater Austin

"Destination dining comes to Bryan via this elegant farm-to-table restaurant. The menu celebrates the land’s bounty in dishes like eggplant and beet salad and housemade maltagliati dressed in globe amaranth, sweet peppers, and lemon oil. There are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Brandon Watson

The food was great. The farm bread was amazing. The chicken fried steak and gravy are definitely a must try! Good atmosphere, the tables are a little tight but it was Valentines Day when we dined here, so that is understandable. Our waiter was a little inattentive but again, it was Valentine’s Day, so I guess it’s to be expected. Overall, great experience. We will be back.. super excited to see how the menu changes with the seasons. Be sure and give Ronin a try if you have not. You will not be disappointed.

Where do I start…made a reservation and was seated immediately which was the best thing of the entire night! We started off with the Farmhouse bread which for $10 you get 3-4 slices of sourdough bread (fine with that). Moving on when asking about the menu the waiter we had didn’t really know much other than it being “farm to table”. I ordered a cocktail which came out in around 10ish minutes. The main course was interesting to say the least. My gulf shrimp were not cleaned properly before cooking leaving a gritty texture upon consumption. For $33 you would think they would at least clean their shrimp…My boyfriend got the pork belly which was fine. Very tender, had a nice smoky taste, but it came with these greens that smelt like wet dog. These same greens were touching my ice cold red beans and rice that was under my uncleaned gritty shrimp. A 45 minute wait for cold, nasty food. To top it all off this was all $119. I expected to pay this much on a date night…but not for low quality “farm to table” food with slow okay-ish service. I will not be returning even though i LOVE restaurants like this! Truly a let down :(

Google
We attended one of their farm dinners and while the ambience was amazing the farm tour fantastic some of the dishes just left us wondering why they serve them. Well, I’m usually a meat eater. I thoroughly enjoyed all the vegetarian dishes. However, the beef belly stew that they served for a main turned out to be three pieces of nothing but fat with great flavor.

Google
Very nice beautiful place. The menu is seasonal and the food was delicious.I can't wait to come back and try something else. I had the chicken fried steak, potatoes and greens. Tender, well seasoned and delicious. The cocktails were also tasty. The server we had was ok. The one serving the table next to us did a fantastic job. We over heard him explaining the menu in great detail for them. Hope we get him next time. For sure give this place a try!

Google
This place does farm to table right. Might be the best burger I’ve ever had. Candied bacon, grilled onions, bread and butter pickle spear. No detail is left unattended to. The craft cocktail menu is the stuff of legends. The staff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable… in short fitting everything else that is Ronin. Go out of your way to make a stop here and you won’t be disappointed.

Google
We had the best time here last night. The food was creative and tasty. I love the story of this place. They grow many products on their farm that they cook here. The wine list is extensive and great. Such a great vibe. Abby the bartender was great and split our dinner without even being asked to do so which made it so much easier for my husband and I to share. We will be back when we are in the area.

Love this restaurant! Thankful for their hard work! We visited from the early days at the farm and many Aggie celebrations. Last night, we celebrated again, daughter/granddaughter Aggie ring. We're sad that the restaurant is closing, but know we'll be back to the farm soon! Thank you for years of hard work. We get you. Love from Freedom Harvest Farms.

Google
We’ve have dined here several times over the past few years. Both or our children attend TAMU and we like to take them out for a nicer dinner when we visit. This is actually the place my daughter requested for her 21st birthday. They have craft cocktails and she was excited to try a few. The food has always been fantastic and the atmosphere is great! Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
Booked a reservation in advance and made a 2 hour drive from out of town for a Saturday night dinner. We loved this place and have been here previously. The vibes and location are so wonderful with the communal seating, low light and seasonal, farm to table menu. Once we were seated, we didn't see our waitress for a while. We put in for jalapeño popper appetizer and cocktail. The cocktail we ordered, "Godson" was decent. With whiskey and amaretto. The jalapeño popper appetizer was 1 and 1/2 jalepenos, cut in half and fried with cheese filling. Maybe 5-6 slivers of picked onions and a tablespoon of ranch dressing for nearly $15 dollars. Our waitress and the staff were not very present despite hanging by our table and our cups of water empty. We maybe saw our waitress three times. We split the Shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. It took almost an hour before we received our entree. It sat at the pass for a long time before we got it served to us. Many walk-ins and other tables seared after us received their entrees before us while we waited. By the time we got the pasta, it was lukewarm and congealed from sitting in the pass for so long. $40 When we explained to our waitress that it wasn't hot and we weren't satisfied, we were asked by the waitress, "Do you want to box it up, to take home so that you could heat it up in the microwave later?" It's sad and disappointing to see a great place like this decline and have this kind of bad service and cold food. We won't be back and won't be microwaving $40 cold pasta

Yelp
On one of the biggest nights for restaurants of the year, Valentine's Day, we made a last ditch effort to dine at Ronin due to our reservation at another local restaurant not showing in their system due to an open table error. Upon arrival, we explained what had happened and asked if there was any way they had an opening. The host was incredibly understanding and sat us at their previously closed coffee bar. We were met by our waitress who was phenomenal- she got us a little candle and was honestly so engaging to talk to. The food was outstanding! So much so that I totally forgot to take a picture. My husband got a curried fish dish that was excellent. It had Smokey greens, black beans, and a full fish in a delicious curry sauce that I ended up mopping my fries in. I sprung for the burger that was so tall, my mouth could barely take a bite. The meat was juicy, and I cleared my plate. All of the cocktails were exceptional, and despite a rocky start to our night, the staff at Ronin managed to eventually find us a small table during an opening in reservations, which made it perfect for us. Ronin is farm to table and a huge supporter of local business which is a plus, not to mention their adorable restaurant is in a refurbished building, and the ambiance is exceptional for date nights. I would HIGHLY recommend Ronin to anyone headed to Downtown Bryan and thank you so much for turning our Valentine's Day around!

Yelp
I recently visited the Texas A&M campus. My host treated me to dinner at Ronin's. This is a farm-to-table restaurant with a farm about 10 miles away. This means that the menu can change to provide the freshest food in season. The menu has a nice variety of meat and non meat dishes. I had the salmon. It was cooked perfectly and served with a wonderful sauce with fresh vegetables. The service was excellent. Of course, I checked out what other diners were having such chicken fried steak, shrimp, or hamburgers. All looked wonderful, and people were enjoying their meals. There are also specialty drinks and a nice selection of wines. The restaurant is authentically rustic with a very nice ambiance.
google avatar

Tracey Z.

Yelp
Such a cute rustic little restaurant. I love the farm house vibes and the rustic decor. The staff were lovely and friendly and i really like that you can watch them prepare your food. Also I love that the menu changes so regularly depending on what is in season. I was not very impressed by the food however. I got the sweet potato dish because it was the only vegetarian option. Out came a teeny tiny platter of 4 slices of sweet potato on a bed of greens. For $22 was really overpriced. Not only that but my grilled sweet potato was basically just burnt. My sister got the shrimp alfredo. It tasted good but again was a tiny portion.

Yelp
First time coming here and enjoyed our food. Our waiter was nice but didn't give near enough info about the dishes like the waitress at the table next to us did. We paid with a Ronin gift card and they charged us a $4 credit card fee. On their own gift card. There was a balance after the gift card and they were going to charge the credit card fee again. We came up with cash to cover it to spare the added fee. Kind of ridiculous. The atmosphere was nice but probably won't go back.

Yelp
Probably one of the best restaurants I have been to in the Bryan/College Station area. Great food, service, beautiful interior, and overall a go to recommendation

Yelp
Our first visit to Ronin was wonderful! This farm to table restaurant was perfect for summer! The food was all fresh and light. Food had drink pairings suggested, which I like! Our waitress was being trained but did a good job. The set up of tables was unique with a floating table. Family time but spaced enough for privacy. Everything we ordered food wise was incredible!
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
We were in BCS for summer graduation and decided to try this farm-to-table restaurant. They state that the menu changes frequently, so check that out on their website before you make a reservation. We decided to eat outside and "watch the world go by", even though it was a bit warm. The people and train watching from what appears to have formerly been a loading dock was interesting. Even though we were the only ones outside, we received friendly, attentive service. My partner chose a cucumber cocktail and cucumber salad to start his meal. The salad had cubed cucumbers with fresh tomatoes and onions in a light dressing. Both were very refreshing. I started with a fresh tomato gazpacho that was mellow in flavor, the way I prefer it. For entrees, my partner ordered the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large, and the grits had a nice, creamy texture. Grilled summer squash came with the dish. I ordered half of a grilled pompano. It came out skin-side up and the head attached. Wow! It had been deboned and had a buttery, mellow flavor. On to dessert...my partner had watermelon soufflé, which came with a sorbet. The soufflé itself had very mild flavor. I had the cookies, which were tasty and a good texture. The meal was good and the service was excellent. Was it pricy? Yes, but I'll be back to support this farm-to-table when in BCS.

Yelp
Hamburgers were undercooked Too much dark meat in the chicken dish Charcuterie was great Bloody Mary was great. Cream cheese filled olives Salmon was decent Atmosphere is the best

Yelp
Ronin is a crowd favorite! Scratch-made, quality ingredients, creative cocktails, comfort food. Really warm service. And a cozy and warm yet super chic atmosphere. Worth a trip to downtown Bryan, if you're not already there.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is nearly always spot on, drinks are always spot on, ambiance is wonderful, and the staff all are delightful, and really attentive. Favorites in food are: the tempera fried farm vegetables as an appetizer, the raclette grilled cheese toast with jams is outa the universe, super special, as are all desserts. For mains, every pasta ever has been superb, they make it in house, as are all dinners. I enjoy asking the staff "what is something everyone is loving on this menu?"... and then I choose it, and am never disappointed. I also love telling bar staff, "I like something like this, but pls surprise me with a cocktail." Food and beverage are more creative here than anywhere, and consistently wonderful...a true gem in north downtown Bryan!

Mabry E.

Yelp
Way over rated tbh. Food was not good at all. Had a smash burger and would've rather had whataburger. It came out soaked in grease and cold. Fries were cold and had no flavor as well as the onion ring appetizer. Pompano was also not good. Flavorless and bland. The only thing that was okay was the chicken fried steak. But wasn't anything special at that. Waiter was fine. The only thing that was appealing about Ronin was the ambiance but otherwise not sure why anyone would come here.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Service was absolutely horrible and food was even worse. We didn't get a server until 12 minutes after we sat down and she barley acknowledged us. The food tasted like a rubber ducky and our drinks took 20minutes to get. After we were done with dinner we sat and finished our drinks and were laughing when a different server came over and asked for our cards very rudely as if they wanted us to leave. Worst experience ever at a restaurant and I'll never come back.

Yelp
My favorite spot in the College Station Area! If you are a cocktail person it's a must visit! This place is everything that is five stars. Excellent service & phenomenal atmosphere. Incredible spirits selection. They also make phenomenal cocktails. Bar staff is great. Perfect spot for a date or night out with friends. I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Excellent staff, food and energy. This was our second year hosting our retreat here and I loved it all. 15/10!

Tarah S.

Yelp
Okay food, service wasn't great by any means. You would think for a place like this they would treat it a little more upscale but it was as if something was missing. It was just average for the price point. We were sat inside under their dripping air vent and eventually needed to move due to the water. However, my drinks were fabulous, definitely get the lemon drop martini if you come in. Again, food was good, portions are smaller (which is perfect for me) so don't expect the normal super big Texas portions. It just all lacked a little something. I'd definitely give it a try if you're in town though, I hear their menu is always changing and fresh!

Yelp
Went here for a birthday dinner with the lady and let me tell you, everything about this place is outstanding. The service- World-class Food- Astounding Drinks-Spectacular Ambiance- Staggering The people at this restaurant truly went above and beyond to make our evening special. Much love for this place!

Yelp
Great space, the staff were so welcoming and helpful with drink and food recommendations. My group came for brunch, started out with the beignets and the cheese toast. Good portion size for the five of us. I highly recommend the cheese toast, it surprisingly had a bit of a sweet taste to it but very delicious! I also got the sourdough pancakes which were okay. They ran out of the peach sauce that goes with it so I used regular syrup. I paired that with the pretty in pink drink. Overall, great experience, I'd come back!
google avatar

Myranda K.

Yelp
The building and inside were so cool. The menu was very limited. My friend needed gluten-free accommodations, so our server said he'd ask. He later came to take our order and had forgotten to check on the gluten-free options. The options were sad at best. We waited around an hour for our meals. We ordered the $29 cheese board and that was the highlight of the visit by far, though I'm not sure it was worth the price. We enjoyed the jam, cinnamon nuts, and cheese. Wish they'd had gluten-free crackers. I got the pollo asada and it was one-note; spicy. Absolutely no salt and the rice was a bit dry. This was not worth anything close to $29. I was excited about the strawberry salsa that came with mine, but there was only heat with no sweetness from the strawberries. My friend disliked her shrimp alfredo as it was flavorless and the shrimp was over cooked. My other friend ordered the salad with shrimp. The shrimp were over peppered and the salad did not come together. We won't be back.

Yelp
We stopped by for Sunday brunch. The food and service were very good. We had the chicken fried steak and eggs and cowboy eggs. We had peach mimosas. Everything was delicious. Then we were celebrating an anniversary so the chef gave us a serving of the peach ice cream. That topped it off. Over Excellent experience!

Yelp
Perfect spot for a date night! Me and my boyfriend came here on a Thursday evening during Happy Hour (5-6pm). BTW their happy hour consists of 1/2 off cocktails!! We had the Paloma and the Morning After and both were super refreshing! Next, we ordered the Fried Chicken Wings with Ginger Garlic Sauce and Chives, which were spectacular! It came with 6 wings which was the perfect amount for the two of us. For our entree, we kindly asked if we could split the red snapper and it was honestly the perfect portion. The snapper was cooked to perfection and the avocado lime sauce complimented the fish very well. The red snapper also came with tempura and roasted veggies. Last, we ordered the milk and cookies, which were EPIC!! I am honestly still thinking about the warm cookies days later. One was toffee nut and the other was fudge chocolate I believe. The warm cookie with the cold milk was the perfect way to end the meal. The quality of food was incredible! Our waitress was also super kind. It's awesome being able to eat a meal this good in the Bryan college station area. They also have special dinners at their farm, where they source most of the ingredients. Definitely check out their website or Instagram. I can't wait to come back one day!
google avatar

Yelp
Ever changing menu that will delight you again and again. The staff is very helpful and can direct you towards what is right for you if you have any questions. We tried the freshly baked bread (which was just like my mom used to make) the tomato salad with cucumbers, chicken fried steak and finished it off with an amazing Irish coffee and blueberry soufflé.
google avatar

Derek W.

Yelp
Amazing bourbon roster and the chicken fried steak (made from wagyu) is the best CFS I've ever had!
google avatar

Holly E.

Yelp
The seating is group style, which I am not a fan of. The steaks also have a lot of gristle in it. Probably won't try this restaurant again. Ambiance was nice though.

Kristi F.

Yelp
The food. The ambiance. The service. The drinks. The location. Every single time here has been perfection! Clean and locally sourced ingredients provide an excellent experience. I love that I can make reservations! I love that the local owners are on site making it fabulous. And I love the creativity!!!! Thanks Ronin!
google avatar

Tim M.

Yelp
Great service, peaceful & comfortable ambiance...enjoyed the absolute best steak I have ever eaten...strongly recommend this place!!!

Shea L.

Yelp
Nothing compares. This place has been a go-to for a long time. My boyfriend and I moved to San Antonio in August due to our jobs. Since our December birthdays are a day apart, we decided to travel to Bryan to visit our favorite restaurant and celebrate our birthdays. We had Chef Brian's special--a 4 course meal. This meal massaged every taste bud I had. Chef Brian nailed every ingredient for our dinner. I am telling you not to go, but RUN to Ronin. Living in San Antonio now, I am telling you there is nothing here that has this restaurants farm to table feature, delicacy, warm ambiance, familial servers and cooks, attention to every detail, and Michelin qualities this restaurant has. This restaurant is going to be big, start your connection now.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I came here for a birthday celebration with a friend. It was lackluster, sadly. We wanted to love it, but this wasn't it for us. We both got their steak dish they had the evening we went (menu rotates) and both thought it was too tough. Maybe the cuts just weren't good? They have an extensive drink menu so I opted for a vodka cocktail. Ended up not liking it as it was way too bitter, so I switched to an espresso martini, which was the best part of the night. The interior is cute. Farmhouse vibes + shared tables. I would not go back to Ronin.
google avatar

Christy P.

Yelp
I've been going to the Ronin Farm moon dinners for about three years, and have been following them on Instagram (ronin.tx) for months now. I've been drooling over the pics of their restaurant menu, so I wanted to finally try them out for a Saturday dinner. I started with a strawberry basil vermouth spritz--so good and refreshing and not overly sweet. We had a half order of the sourdough, which comes with salted and honey butters. Perfection! It wasn't hot from the oven, but the crust on the slices was chewy and the inside was soft and just the right density. For my main meal, I ordered the Ronin Farm Salad, which had onion, cucumber, squash, eggplant, mozzarella, and basil balsamic. The salad was full of thinly sliced and crisp vegetables with a slightly sweet and tangy flavor, almost pickled, with fresh basil sprinkled on top. Absolutely loved it! I also had the tempura fried squash/okra/eggplant with a smoked pepper sauce. The batter was delicious, and once again, the whole dish was so good. I also tried a bite (more like several bites) of the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and sautéed greens with squash and eggplant. *Best* CFS I've ever had. The potatoes weren't warm, but they still tasted great! At the end I stuffed myself with the entire heirloom watermelon soufflé. It had a side of frozen spicy watermelon. I've never had soufflé, so I don't have a frame of reference, but I enjoyed it--it was light and sweet. If you love supporting local farms and you're looking for something different--seriously give the Ronin Restaurant in downtown Bryan a shot. One of my most memorable and favorite meals in a long time, and one of my new favorite restaurants!

Yelp
Great food, always. Only downside is that tables are so close together you are hearing and sharing conversations with strangers.

AM W.

Yelp
Ran out of everything when we went. Had a great waiter though, but we got the end of the evening. The food was subpar. Service was great. Ambience was great but for the price and you got the leftovers that were not discounted despite the food they brought us I didn't think it was a very good deal. Not sure if we will be back
google avatar

Tom S.

Yelp
Really great place. A bit pricey but the food is really wonderful. The atmosphere is really beautiful. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Was truly excited about this place as I researched where wed go for dinner while in college station. Farm to table. Locally sourced ingredients. Great chef roots. What we got other than the ambiance and service was anything but spectacular heck it wasnt even worth mentioning to anyone i know that loves food. The wife and i decided to split the bone in wagyu ribeye and ordered it medium it came out mediem raree but no worries i like it like that two pounds plus of the most toughest piece of steak i e ever had if this was wagyu im a monkeys uncle maybe if wagyu had a tough life! This wasnt prime nor choice hell what rated less than select? The mashed taters were cold so we sent those back but got them warm and they had zero flavor zero! No way that was a $140 steak! Wowzers! It was so bad we decided to skip the dessert and have that back at The Stella Hotel where we stayed at. Our son had the blackened shrimp alfredo and ate the pasta left rhe shrimp i tried it and it was tough as leather. Maybe it was an off night who knows but it was not good.

Yelp
This spot was great for downtown Bryan. We sat outside on the porch that overlooked Main Street. The service was wonderful and our waitress was very nice and Attentive. I had the shrimp and grits, which was delicious and a good portion size. My favorite part was the cocktail I had. It was a margarita made with beet juice, which I thought would be strong in flavor but it was not. It was a beautiful colorful drink, and also yummy!! I don't think this place is kid friendly, especially not the menu. But great for date night or girls night dinner.

Christopher A.

Yelp
The service was poor as we barely saw our waiter while we were there. The food was also very bland for what we were expecting. Overall an underwhelming experience
google avatar

Phileemon P.

Yelp
This is a great farm to table restaurant in Bryan Texas. The cocktails are excellent and the food is well prepared. Only issue noted was that the promised purple hill peas on the tacos but it was actually black eyed peas (a true southerner knows the difference, purple hull are better). The wait staff is excellent and they are very welcoming. The decor is rustic and warm. I will definitely return for more food and cocktails.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
Went here for a work get together. They reserved an area for our group. The event looks nice and is in a good location. You have to park on adjacent streets and walk, but nothing too crazy. The food tasted decent, but a but pricey. The main reason it rates at a 3-star is they could only split our check up to four ways for the food, but could do individual alcohol tabs. So if you are looking to bring a group keep that in mind. Otherwise nice place with a good venue and good service.

Yelp
Let me start with my wife and I definitively having Ronin on a pedestal before ever walking in. Maybe because I LOVE to cook and am an avid foodie would I say is my biggest snafu when it comes to dining. We started with the full charcuterie board along with the housemate preseco. We enjoyed the distinctive characteristics of the cheeses and the salumi variety. It was suggested we try the jalapeño poppers and they were good also. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak and I ordered the pho which sounded great on the windy wet night. My wife's dinner arrived and her response as to its flavor was "Eh" as it was chewy, thicker then what she expected and was just OK. My pho arrived shortly thereafter and I was anticipating this complex yet simple dish! First off I was surprised that the side items were Hoisen and Sriracha sauce with no mung bean shoots, Thai Badil, onion, etc, etc... That presentation said I took my first sip of the beef broth and I literally dropped my spoon whereas another couple we'd been chatting with made the husband laugh and remark, "I knew you weren't going to like it!" I honestly couldn't believe the kitchen was calling my dish pho as it tasted overpowering of Hoisen, Star anise with a cloying sweetness minus the distinctive rich beefy flavor and the correlating ingredients that cook for hours and are then run thru a sieve and then cooked down more so your left with a clean, clear rich tasting broth. Our waitress saw my facial reaction and asked if I was OK and I politely asked that the dish be removed and if the chef was aware of the consistency and flavor!? Our very nice waitress said the chef tasted the pho and did not see an issue which I knew was a HUGE RED FLAG for me. I skipped ordering anything else, focused on the Chai Vqnilla Souffle which was good however the cookies dessert needed much work! The lemon lavender cookie was more similar to that of a scone and the small irregular shaped chocolate cookie seemed to be thrown together and trying to be presented as a cookie but fell more into a weak fudge bad brownie category. Our bill at the end was more exemplary of a solid fine dining restaurant and was no where applicable to our dining experience. To say I was disappointed was an understatement given the story of the restaurant and husband/wife duo making it happen however my opinion is this was in its entirety a truly bad dining experience.

Yelp
I like Ronin's concept, vermouths, spirits, and small dishes! My favorite drink is the burnt orange Poe vermouth, and it is thanks to their bar tender. My first visit I asked for a Campari, and because they didn't have it the bar tender recommended the vermouth. Since then they started keeping Campari, but I've stuck to the burnt orange and grapefruit vermouths. The cheese plate is worth the splurge. I love the pickles, candied nuts, spicy pickled watermelon rind, and fog jam. The bar bites are great! The soy glazed potatoes have so much flavor, as do the roasted peppers. I also love the farm house salad. The dessert chef makes fabulous cookies and other desserts. I called ahead of time to request brownies and ice cream for a friend's birthday dinner and she happily accommodated. The brownies were fudgy and chewy and perfect. My friend even took some home. Thank you so much for making my friend's birthday so special by accommodating this request. The staff really go above and beyond for their guests. The restaurant is beautifully decorated & I love the porch.

Matt S.

Yelp
Food and Dessert A+ Service A Ambiance A+ Would definitely try again when visiting! Thank you for a wonderful dinner with my family!

Kassidy L.

Yelp
I've been three times now and have been unimpressed each time. We went most recently with a group of 7 for a friend's birthday, and 5 out of the 7 did not enjoy their cocktails. My first one, a peach rum drink was fine, but the route 44 was nearly flavorless. The pomegranate drink my friend got was reminiscent of a Northgate vodka soda. Likely due to them having a cocktail list of probably 100 drinks and therefore being unable to keep the quality. The menu is quite small, as it's all "farm to table", so it's not the place to go if you like having lots of options/variety. They use basically the same ingredients for every dish which gets boring. The Birria lamb was lacking any real depth of flavor- both my boyfriend and I were really disappointed that we had ordered it. I'd rather get a Birria taco from any taco truck in town. The Moroccan chicken was an extremely tiny portion, but had a nice flavor. The appetizers were basic, something you could throw together at home really. The chai cake was yummy though! Like some other reviews stated, the server is also bartending, which doesn't make for the best possible experience, but he was a nice kid. Overall, nothing was worth the ~40 dollar/entree price tag and we most likely won't be back. Also, strangely, they added auto grat of 20% when their policy states auto grat is for parties of 8+....

Yelp
We were very excited to try out RONIN tonight for the first time. The ambiance is super great: very farm like/Joanna Gaines like decor. Everything is super unique: the plates are all different, the tables are suspended farm house tables, all of the flowers are from their farm. The majority of their produce is from their farm and they also buy from other local farms. The staff are very prompt and friendly. The flavors were on point with everything we had. They serve two small complimentary sampling. This time was an eggplant/bell pepper dish and a pickled cucumber dish. I would have asked for more but I'm not sure how much that would have cost if they charged us. The main reason I didn't give them 5 stars is based on the portion size with the price. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted so delicious! The lamb shank literally fell off the bone. I rarely order chicken fried steak but it was very tasty. I mostly wanted to order the chicken fried steak since I thought it would be more filling. We split both of those. They did allow us to order some side bread for our son- it costed $2 which the waitress didn't inform us of whenever we ordered it so that probably would have been helpful. The $2 was worth it for the homemade bread and especially since they don't have a kids meal. My largest suggestions for improvement are: some sort of kids meal (really I think this wouldn't be too hard as they could have simple things like Mac n cheese, grilled cheese, etc.), a strap on the high chair (they have an adorable wooden high chair but it's very unsafe because there isn't a strap at all to prevent the child from Falling out), larger portions of at least the fillers like the mashed potatoes or something along those lines (my husband said that the portion size was the only reason that he wouldn't give them 5/5)- I understand that they have their own produce and probably are limited on quantity but I imagine there's a way to creatively make sure your customers are full by the end of the meal Without having to spend an additional $20 on an appetizer. Another thing I think would be great is if they offered an option to sit directly next to people or not. I know that the idea of the tables is to be communal and interact with people- create something called "Social Seating" or "private seating" where you can choose to sit next to other people or be separated. We ended up talking to people around us but it was just more difficult and not as conducive to regular conversation. It's an idea :) their menu changes every week pretty much and they do run out of things on the menu so be aware of that. There are only a few items per category available. We will definitely return to try it again sometime and hopefully will make it to a ronin farm dinner

Yelp
Our food and drinks were amazingly unique, and the service was pretty good. Our chicken was a little dry, but everything else was great!

Yelp
This is a great spot for farm to table cuisine in B/CS. I grew up here but moved away 10+ years ago and am glad to see that there is finally a place that produces the same quality of food as bigger cities. Right when you walk in, you'll be greeted with long communal tables and a map of Texas outlining the vegetables that are being grown at the Ronin Farm currently. We went for brunch and had a pleasant time. Favorite items were... - Beignets (which they comped since we were celebrating a birthday) - The cheese board - loved the truffle cheese, goat cheese/feta & sourdough bread - Fries - Cucumber Ice Cream Everything was super fresh, vegetables were the best part. I wish there were more lunch items, but what we had was still good. Service was also great, very attentive and explained the items well.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time today and WOW I am impressed. The restaurant literally changes their menu daily based on the harvest. Most of the ingredients they use is from their own farm and the rest is from local sources. I ordered a tomato salad, chicken fried steak and a fig soufflé and it's safe to say that I devoured all of it. The tomato salad had fresh tomatoes, squash, cucumbers from the farm. It even had flowers that our server, Jacob, personally picked that morning from the farm. The combination of all the veggies really was phenomenal. I also ordered their baked bread as an appetizer and it was delicious. I have to say though that it would've been nice if the bread was complimentary. The Chicken Fried Steak was the star of the show. The beef was juicy and well cooked. It was served with mashed potatoes, gravy, eggplants and squash that complimented it perfectly. The steak was wagyu beef so it wasn't just any slab of meat. My friend ordered the scallops and it was nice and well-prepared but nothing really beat the steak. Finally, the fig soufflé. The soufflé was soft and fluffy. It literally melts in your mouth. The only disappointment about it was that the fig taste wasn't that apparent. I love figs but the taste was subtle and didn't really stand out. Overall, I'll for sure come back again if I'm wanting to have a higher end meal. Atmosphere is great, the servers are amazing and the food is fresh and delicious.

Yelp
My wife and I had a wonderful experience at Ronin for a date night! Our server was very helpful with both the food and drink menu and was also very attentive to us. The drinks were incredible and the food was cooked to perfection! The ambiance was very much our kind of vibe. We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Beautiful restaurant! But poor service and tasteless food! We were so excited to dine at Ronin's, but we will not be back. The food was lackluster in taste, the mashed potatoes ice cold and the salmon sticky and slimy. I think they served fresh okra on the side as an excuse for the slimy texture! But the okra was not the problem! Speaking of veggies: Farm to fork maybe, but they need a bigger garden because the veggies were sparse on all the plates. Tomato risotto was like rice gruel - not creamy, no Parmesan, and no tomato except for a couple of cherry tomato shavings. Ambiance cannot save this restaurant.

Yelp
Came here for a celebratory graduation dinner with a party of 9. Extremely disappointing and the manager didn't even say sorry. ): Got to the restaurant at 5:45 and didn't leave until 8 because the service was so slow. It seemed like our waitress was also bartending, so we didn't get the best service at all. Our drinks took forever to come out and our waitress only checked in every 30 minutes. It took us an hour to put a food order in. To start, the $40 charcuterie boards are enough for 2 people. Not worth the price. My dad's "New York Strip" was NOT a New York strip and inedible. My brother and sister's burgers were dry and unevenly cooked, fries were soggy. My husband's "Wagyu" chicken fried steak was extremely tough and borderline inedible. My orange chicken was cheap and comparable to the quality of a mall Chinese food stall... and then charged us $35 for it. LOL! Extremely disappointing and EXTREMELY overpriced. They comped us for some drinks and my dad's steak but like I said, didn't even apologize. Do better!!!!
