12 Hottest Restaurants in Charlotte, January 2024

"Room Service, an eye-catching cocktail and small plates destination from the same team behind mobile Black Moth Bars, is the newest addition to Camp North End’s offerings. It nails a minimal, non-cramped mid-century aesthetic with sit-down tables and a fun bar top, making it an appealing spot for a date night, a post-work happy hour, or a long lunch with a spritz. Visitors won’t stick to their typical cocktail order here; they’ll want to experiment with over a dozen inventive cocktail concoctions ranging around $14, from a blood orange agave drink to a bright gin and matcha creation. Room Service doesn’t limit itself to being exclusively a cocktail bar, as proven by the whipped feta with fennel jam and hot honey, smash burger sliders, and jalapeno salt and vinegar chips with sweet roasted corn and creamy cotija. The easygoing, accessible location, menu, and atmosphere hints at this spot being hot for a long time." - Kayleigh Ruller

I got together with a few other friends for Sunday dinner to try Room Service at Camp North End. We’d heard it had some great food options and, given the location, expected a lively atmosphere. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the experience we had. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty and it stayed that way the entire time we were there. Considering how large the space is and its placement within Camp North End, that was surprising. Looking over the menu, we quickly realized that many of the items recommended in previous reviews were no longer available. The menu has clearly been changed and is now focused mainly on burgers, sandwiches, and fries. On top of that, they were out of several ingredients and menu items, as well as a few beer options that were still listed on the menu, which was disappointing and made ordering feel limited. I ordered the Hell Raiser, a steak and cheese sandwich, which was fine. One of my friends ordered The Cure, a pressed ham sandwich, which was also fine. Nothing was bad, but nothing stood out either. To be fair, there’s only so much you can expect from a sandwich unless it’s coming from a standout sandwich spot. Our server was enthusiastic about the fry sauces, so we sampled several of them. Despite the hype, none of them really impressed me. Overall, I wasn’t thrilled with this place. Between the empty dining room, the pared down and partially unavailable menu, and the lack of anything truly memorable, this isn’t a place I’m likely to return to. Honestly, given the overall experience, I was surprised to see that they’re still open.

Great drinks! We got a Fairuza and an Earl Gray Garden spritz - both were fantastic. We also enjoyed the ham sandwich. We’ll definitely be back to try more items. The patio was dog friendly and you do have the option to take drinks to go.

Could not recommend enough! This place was so fun. Both indoor and outdoor seating options were fun and the atmosphere was awesome. Cocktails were 10/10. Their version of the espresso martini was the best I’ve ever had. and for that matter, their fries were too (and I consider myself a french fry critic lol). Fast, lovely service. Overall a great experience.

I enjoyed Room Service at Camp North End in Charlotte, North Carolina. The space is super cute. They have a big room with a bar and very clean bathrooms and then there’s also a patio on both sides of the building. The outside is very dog friendly. The service was spectacular. We never waited long to order, get our drinks or food. Our drinks were good. I ordered their play of a dirty martini. I didn’t think it was that dirty but the blue cheese olives were homemade and absolutely delicious. It was still an amazing drink. I also had a glass of their Sauvignon Blanc, and it was very good and not crazy expensive. The food was fantastic. We had the chipotle chicken wings. They were saucy and crispy. We also had the loaded fries that had braised beef on top of them. They were really delicious and there was a lot of meat, but I think next time I would order the fries extra crispy with all of the dipping sauces. The fries we had were slightly soggy because all of the things on top, but they were still so good, but I can’t imagine how much better they would be really, really crispy. We also had the chef’s salad which was full of meat and cheese, and we had the homemade honey mustard dressing, which was absolutely delicious. We also had the cure which was their play on an Italian sandwich. It was like a pressed Panini. It was also really really good. I cannot wait to go back and try other things.

We went to Camp North End tonight for the free outdoor movie date night and decided to grab Room Service for dinner before the movie started. We were seated quickly with no wait and got outside seating which was awesome bc the weather was perfect. Our waitress was quick and efficient but alas.. we were brought room temp water. Maybe thats not a big deal to other people.. I understand much of the world drinks room temp water.. but not here and not me. The last thing I want to drink is your room temp toilet water thank you very much, plz bring some ice. Anyway, I ordered the "classic smash burger" which I feel is kinda being a little overplayed.. or is that just me? Its like smash burgers are having their froyo moment and everyone has one or is adding one to their menu bc its a trending keyword. I was going to order the "southern smash burger" which I found via their online menu before leaving the house but apparently the online menu doesn't match the restaurant menu... bc it wasn't on it. The burger came with a single patty, american cheese, carmelized (grilled) onions, shredded lettuce, something called "party sauce", and house made pickles on a potato bun with a side of fries. The burger was good, not great, but good. I'm not the biggest fan of a bun that outsizes the burger (meat portion) itself which is what I found here, but every full bite of the burger taste exactly as I imagined it would. The fries were extra crunchy which I absolutely LOVED but they charge you for ranch which I feel like is a sin if you're in the South bc all fries should come with ranch by default. So between the toilet water, the micro patty, and paying for ranch.. I thought the dinner overall was good. I likely wouldn't have a reason to come back but I'm glad I tried a new place tonight. If you're in the area looking for a quiet place to enjoy a good conversation with good food.. maybe give this place a shot and tell me I'm wrong afterward.

This was my first time visiting this very quaint and cozy spot with elements of an 80s vibe. This was a Thursday afternoon around 4 PM so we were really like the only group in there at that time. The place is not large at all, but it's just a perfect spot to hang out with a couple of friends or a meet up for an early date. They don't really have an extensive menu of food and drinks, but what they do offer was pretty good and all of us seem satisfied. Would I come out and visit this spot again? Absolutely!

Well it’s time for some new wait staff. I’ve never felt so unwanted in my life. When we arrived we decided to sit outside to enjoy the nice day. We were quickly pointed to a table and menus thrown as us and seated. We got a chance to chat and look over the menu. A young man approached we let him know it was our first time. He stated he’d give us a chance to look at the menu. We asked for suggestions on drinks he had no words to offer and left. After what seemed to be 10’years he returned to take our order. No Shrubs and Odd Bird were the drinks of choice. A very pleasant young lady brought the drinks and a smile. We asked for waters as well that never appeared. Needless to say to say we NEVER saw the server again. Despite the lack of service we did enjoy the drinks and wanted others. Being that we never saw the server again we didn’t order them. He quickly did a spin dropped the check and dashed. We again felt the wave of unwanted guest. We dropped a card flagged someone down to take it even left a tip and left. This was a true never again stop. If you don’t wish to serve people why work in a service industry.

We’ve been before for drinks and that experience was so great we decided to host a private event with them. That was the best decision ever! The food is incredible, the bartenders are fantastic with amazing drinks, and the vibes are unmatched! Our crew had the best time and loved being in this carefully curated cool space! The service was impeccable! From the beginning to the end and all the in between! If you have an event you want to host, do it here, or at least stop by for a drink and tasty snack soon!! I know for certain we will all be back soon!

Yelp
Been wanting to come here since we love CNE, and we are excited for a cocktail bar so close to home! The food was unpretentious, enjoyable, and reasonably priced for what you get. We shared two sandwiches and were full after. Drinks were the same price as the food (~$15 each) which I guess is par for the course now, but they were delicious and we kept getting more. Their take on a martini was definitely the best one I've had in CLT! Fun mention is we really loved the glassware! Definitely been recommending this place to friends

Yelp
Cute spot perfect for a date night or girls night out. We had cocktails, wine, sliders, and fries. The fries are similar to the fries at Ace No. 3-super crunchy. We went on a Tuesday evening and it was kind of dead. I hope they do better on the weekends. There is a parking garage around the corner with 3 free hours of parking.

Yelp
This new spot in Camp North End is a really cool vibe. I came in with a friend on a late Saturday afternoon and we were seated immediately. The gentleman at the front who greeted us was really friendly and I wish I'd gotten his name. He had an awesome beard though. Sydney was our server and she was super cool too! Loved the whole feel of this place just from the folks working there and the aesthetics inside. I tried the street corn chips and they were absolutely amazing!!! Like addictive and I'm obsessed!!!!! I also ordered their plant daddy wrap and it was okay. It needed a little more flavor but it was cool. I didn't try any drink this visit but would love to come back! Great little spot in Camp.

Yelp
Great service, amazing food and drinks, kind staff, and a beautiful ambiance. I don't know what more one could want in a place. It's perfect for connecting with your guest or dining alone. One of the best additions to Camp North End for sure.

Yelp
I've dropped by Room Service a few times now for a cocktail & a snack. The cocktails are top tier. Great place to grab a drink with a friend or even a to go cocktail while you wander the Camp North End Area. The inside is cozy and the patio area is definitely nice with a view of uptown if seated facing that way. Great vibes and will be back!

Yelp
This is located in Camp North End. I sat at the bar. The service was pretty quick; I was able to seat myself and order within 5 minutes on a Friday afternoon. I ordered the sliders with fries, a la carte, with a Final Girl as my drink choice. Everything was pretty average in my opinion. From the food, to the atmosphere, to the drinks. That's not a bad thing since it's conveniently located somewhere with a lot of traffic. With that being said, the prices are definitely reflective of the location. I'd probably return out of convenience in the future rather than necessity.

Yelp
Wonderful cocktails, delicious food, and great service! We went on a Saturday and ate outside. We had the sliders, which had smash burgers and latkes...unique and scrumptious! Would definitely go again!

Yelp
I came in for a quick bite and drink after work and I was incredibly impressed. The ambiance was beautiful!!! Impeccable vibe. The dirty martini was the best I've ever had and the toast was simple yet still elaborate enough to feel celebratory. And they had one server working the heck out the floor. I'll be back.

Yelp
This is such a lovely spot for a great cocktail with friends or clients. The staff is so kind and warm. The drinks are creative and interesting. And if you're not feeling a cocktail, their wines by the glass are a great choice (and very well priced). I recently worked with the Room Service team to host a happy hour for a client's company and they nailed it. The client and her team had a great time and felt taken care of from start to finish. It's just a great vibe in a gorgeous location at Camp North End. Looking forward to warmer weather and enjoying a cocktail outside.
