"Roost Bistro has closed after four years in business, though a sibling bakery remains open. Roost Bistro replaced the Creperie in June 2014 and served mostly New American bistro fare, such as salmon burgers, various flatbreads, steak tips, and a vast brunch menu including several takes on eggs Benedict." - Terrence Doyle

The place looks nice. The service is very slow (only two other tables besides us). I got french fries instead of white rice with my food, but after waiting for so long, I didn’t feel like asking for rice. The salmon was lacking flavor, it was just grilled with some parsley sprinkled on top (No hint of the “lemon dill butter” stated on the menu). The portion size was good for me, but my husband wasn’t fully satisfied with his chicken.

Great experience. Nice patio lunch, attentive waitress. All ingredients were clearly fresh, the food was cooked perfectly and the attention to detail was impeccable. Chef Dave personally thanked us for stopping in, had a nice conversation with us and treated us to complimentary cheesecake. This made from scratch dessert wasn't good....it was decadent and had no business being given away for free. Much obliged Chef Dave....dont pass by this spot when on Newbury .

Food mediocre, steak tips were "well" vs. "medium" , presentation on plate weak. No taste, and these are supposed to be their "specialty" tips. Wait staff did not check in frequently enough, or soon enough, never asked explicitly about the steak tips. After I provided feedback on steak tips, loud conversation heard amongst chef/cook about how they should be cooked....very unprofessional. Wait staff came back and offered free desserts which we did not want. Decor is unfinished with unused tables against one wall- haphazard look. Do not recommend. Understand now why there only a few people there primte time on a Saturday night. Too bad, great location!

Went to this restaurant last night with friends from work. The staff was phenomenal. Extremely inviting and pleasant. It did take a while for our food to come out, Chef Dave took great care of us and treated us to the best octopus I have ever tasted. Definitely don’t miss this place.

Terrible service. They ran out of the there "special burger (Roost Burger)". Ordered lamb burger instead. Waited 40 minutes. It was burnt Burger, burnt bun, burnt caramelized onions. The place sucks. Our waiter "Merci" says "I took the burger out of your bill". Seriously that is what you could come up with? I didn't even ate anything out of the plate. Obviously you would take that out of the bill.

This little bistro is fantastic! Great food at reasonable prices and they serve brunch until 4 p.m. EVERY DAY, not just on weekends. They use fresh ingredients such as grass-fed beef for their burgers. Fabulous service and good vibes. It is small so depending on the time of day and size of your party, you may want to call ahead. Dinner is served after 4 p.m. and the offerings look wonderful. I'll be going back here a lot!

On holidays from Toronto ( October 23rd 2016) while shopping on Newberry Street delighted to find this nice break for lunch. The food was fresh although the portions were very small and the ambiance was fair the service was satisfactory and upon our departure the waiter came running down the front steps to educate me on their tipping practices because we didn't leave him a 20% tip this waiter should realize we was tipped on his performance not on his wish list, needless to say we will never be back and I hope the managers educate the staff on proper tip etiquette and how unprofessional it was to chase down a paying customer! This was a horrible experience.

It took 35 minutes after ordering to get a drink. 50 minutes after ordering the waiter came over to say he forgot to enter our order. 70 minutes after ordering 1 of our meals comes but it’s missing a main ingredient. As we walked out our waiter heckled us and loudly complained to the rest of the staff that “We were acting like nobody makes mistakes.” You made three mistakes in a row then insulted us when we had enough. This is the worst restaurant I’ve been to in Massachusetts.
