Cool atmosphere. Great service. Food? Mine was decent. I had the smoked turkey plate, and although it left more to be desired, my husband’s Smoked Meatloaf Sliders were a hit. The Mac and Cheese is Kraft, so be prepared (they did ask me for certainty). The drink specials were good, and truthfully the pricepoint was greatness. I’d return for the Breakfast Shots alone.

Our food was amazing. Service left a lot to be desired but shout out to the sweet woman that pre-bussed and bussed our table. She was on it!! Food was excellent!! You would have a hard time messing up your order if you picked any of the burgers. Decor and the vibe was great and we were able to dine in with kids.

Google
Roosters is a great spot to go eat on the weekends here in Denton. They have many options of American food at a surprisingly good cost considering they are right next to the square. I ordered the patty melt that came with 9 grain bread, 1000 Island, bacon jam, caramelized onions, American cheese, and provolone cheese.

Google
Quite possibly the beat burger in all of Denton. I had the pepper jack bacon burger. The homemade potato chips were absolutely out of this world. We also started our meal with fried jalapenos. Reasonably priced and a great place to hang out. Definitely recommend.

Went for lunch with my Husband. Although it is a BBQ place, I myself cannot eat red meat. The bartender (I cannot remember her name) was AMAZING. She recommended a chicken bowl which was DELICIOUS! My Husband ordered a patty melt and loved it! Would definitely go again!

Google
So good! Super cool inside with great food and great specials. I loved my smoked bologna! The texas heat chicken sandwich was SPICY but also almost too oily for me. I’d go back!

Google
Good food but was supposed the brisket wasn't more stand out. Expected a good pepper crust but more of a decent slice of meat without all the fat of some places brisket. Rooster tails, bacon cheese fries, everything was pretty good. Large portions.

Google
The employee who seated me was extremely courteous, and my waiter was kind and attentive. I ate the smoked tenderloin cheesesteak sandwich with the house chips plus an order of the rooster tails. Everything was great. They have good deals on boozy drinks on the weekend, which was awesome. No regrets.

Yelp
I love Rooster's Roadhouse! We've been coming here ever since I moved to Denton about two years ago for college, and it's become one of my go-to spots. It's such a classic Denton place, and it never misses. Their chicken nuggets are seriously so good--probably my favorite thing on the menu. Every now and then we try the special of the day, and it's always a hit. The food is consistently amazing, and the vibes are just right. Anytime I have family come to town, we make sure to stop by Rooster's. The service is always friendly, the food never disappoints, and the atmosphere is laid-back and welcoming. If you're in Denton, you have to check this place out.

Yelp
1st visit, Sunday before Labor Day. Arrived around 1pm and it was packed, so we took table on front patio. Waitress greeted us immediately and took drink order. Food order was taken when she came back with drinks. Menu has lots of options--typical bbq options of brisket, ham, turkey, pulled pork--and then they have multiple burger and sandwich options. We ordered tenderloin cheesesteak and a double burger, with a to-go order of ham. And then we waited..... And waited..... And waited for over an hour, before the food arrived. No fault of the waitress, she advised they only had 1 fryer working (needed for side of okra and kettle chips). Food finally arrived and it was good, but nothing great. We may give it another try sometime and will sit inside (seemed pretty lively and a good dive bar). Waitress saved the day today, felt sorry for her because there were some a-holes on the patio and she did her best to keep everyone patient.

Yelp
Avoid Rooster's. We were seated after a few minutes at a high-top table then waited at the table for over 10 minutes with no waitstaff stopping. Perhaps the person seating should alert the waitstaff that customers were seated in their area. We attempted to move from our table to a booth that just opened and were told we couldn't move and the booth was reserved for someone else. We left. One star - service abysmal.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and the food was excellent. Service was quick and the ambiance was fun. I ordered the two meat platter with sausage and pulled pork with side dish of slaw was very good and served with homemade chips and Texas toast. Other dish we had was their famous hamburger and it did not disappoint. A bit on the pricey side for two lunch meals $33.

Yelp
We stopped in as a party of 5 Sunday evening, and were acknowledged right away by the bartender but had to wait a little over 5 mins for someone to actually come and seat us. Our server was very nice and efficient. We ordered fried pickles and fried jalapeños as well as the queso, salsa and chips - everything was yummy. My kids both ordered the steak fingers and fries and enjoyed their meals. We ordered two single meat plates with chopped meat- chopped brisket onion rings and okra and the Tennessee Texas hot sandwich with chips. Tennessee Texas hot sandwich was misleading bc it was not spicy although the breading was red and was not flavored. It was very underwhelming but everything else was great. I will say, Bathrooms were small and dirty. My son went into the men's restroom and walked right back out stating it was too dirty for him to use. If in the area, we would prob stop again.

Yelp
Excellent experience. Wonderful, delicious food at a reasonable price. Ambience and cuisine is so TEXAS. Yeah... This is the good stuff. Try it.

Yelp
We stopped at Rooster's in Denton, Texas after seeing several positive reviews, but it turned out to be another swing and a miss on this road trip. The service was okay--our server was friendly but not very consistent when it came to drink refills. The food overall was average at best. My wife ordered the barbecue, which she said was below average. One of my sons had chicken strips, which were just standard--nothing memorable. My other son got a patty melt and said it was just "okay." I ordered a burger that was also just average--decent enough to eat, but nothing that would make me want to return. The atmosphere was about what you'd expect from a bar-style restaurant. There was good seating, and TVs all around, so I was able to catch some of the Women's College World Series while we ate. That was probably the highlight. Ultimately, while the experience wasn't terrible, it definitely wasn't great either. If I'm ever back in Denton, I won't be returning to Rooster's.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and the food, the Pit Sandwich, was awesome. Darien did a great job on running the menu down for us on the top three items. Service was excellent!

Yelp
Customer service outstanding! Shelby was attentive and made sure that I was good! Sushi tasted too cheesy; it could be my tastebuds though. I will try again because I had them in the past and enjoyed them. Shelt recommended the nachos they smell wonderful and are absolutely delicious! Black beans are seasoned well and just enough peppers to give it a kick.

Yelp
Birthday Bust at Roosters Roadhouse Ah, Roosters Roadhouse in Decatur--a place where dreams of a great birthday meal go to die. Went there for my birthday, and it was like attending a funeral for good food and service. The place was so slow, I thought they might be cooking everything from scratch... in a time machine set to the Ice Age. The food? Well, let's just say I've had better meals from a vending machine. The fries were as limp as my enthusiasm after the first bite, and the main dish tasted like it had been run over by the Roadhouse itself. As for the service, it was a game of "how long can we ignore the customer?" They won, and I lost--time, patience, and faith in humanity. I tried waving, signaling, even semaphore, but nothing worked. I half-expected to see tumbleweeds roll by. So, if you're looking for a place to ruin your special day, Roosters Roadhouse is your go-to. As for me, I'll be celebrating my next birthday anywhere but here.

Yelp
Took my wife and granddaughter on Sunday morning. We were almost the first ones there. Got waited on and ordered a couple of appetizer and our meals at the same time. The place started to get a little busier but not too many. They brought our appetizers out in good time then the wait for our meals started. People actually came in after us and left, still no meal. We are very patient but enough was enough. I walked up to our server and he said they just forgot about us, we were just three seats inside the front door. Never bothered to see if we needed anything including our meals. We decided to cut our losses and the server still brought us a check for the appetizers and a 20 dollar coupon to use toward the bill. No meal no visit from management just a bill. I think if you had any customers service in mind, you would have comped the appetizers and gave the coupon for another visit. I personally have been there once before and I bragged and brought my family back. Not cool!!!!

Yelp
Even on a Saturday night we were seated right away with a party of 6. The food is amazing. I love the chicken fried steak. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. Their drinks are delicious as well. There is so much good food in the Denton Square this is a place to make sure to visit. Good food good service!

Melanie P.

Yelp
Not t pet friendly! Bad attitudes! Ask to see when this would be available only to be approached by a manager telling me they're still working on the fire they had! Really I guess you need to take your sign down that says dog friendly because obviously you're not! Took over an hour to get a cheeseburger just letting you know, don't count on this to be anything but a bad experience
google avatar

Nisha I.

Yelp
The service was slow for a Tuesday and for a day that wasn't busy. I had the burger and it was okay! She didn't even bring me the sauce I asked for. And or utensils. She never came to check on our party either.

Yelp
The overall experience could have easily been a 5 star but the service fell short. The food at was delicious, but the service left much to be desired. Despite the tasty dishes, the inattentive server affected the overall dining experience. She seemed more engaged at all of her other tables than she was at our table, guessing she couldn't find a common ground . Watching the same server with a burst of energy at every other table was interesting . The King Brisket Burger was delicious- the burger was loaded from top to bottom, the patty was well seasoned and the brisket was tender. The fries were also good, there was an up charge of 3 dollars for switching from chips to fries ... . The restaurant was spacious and clean. I ordered a one meat plate to go ( brisket with a side of corn salad. It was delicious as well.

Yelp
It's been over 12 years since I last stopped in It was mine and my aunt's favorite place to go when she passed I quit going here but today I came back it hasn't changed a bit still has great food and wonderful service

Yelp
We have been to Rooster's twice, now and we enjoyed it very much. We will be back. And the menu has a lot to choose from.

Yelp
Great hole-in-the-wall restaurant/bar. We stopped in for a very late lunch driving through Denton. The waitress was very nice and attentive. We started with the fried pickles, and while it normally comes with ranch, we requested blue cheese. The full basket of pickles came out hot and quick. The breading was light not heavy or overwhelming; nice and crunchy, a little heavy on the corn meal for my taste, but great, nonetheless. However, I feel the frying oil was ready to be changed out. We both opted for the Pit sandwich because it seemed to be one of the house favorites. It comes with house chips, but I ordered mine with a side of rooster tails (fried onion peels), which came with a spicy thousand island dipping sauce. I didn't care for the sauce; the onion peels would have been fine on their own had the frying oil been a little fresher, and that kept me from eating more than two pieces. The sandwich was fantastic; served on Texas toast, two slices of sausage piled on top of sliced brisket and pulled pork with a little BBQ sauce and the BEST PICO I've ever had. This isn't your Tex-mex pico, it is a pickle relish base hint of sweet, with pickled jalapeño and onion. It was fantastic. Overall, if traveling back through Denton, we will make a point to stop here for a meal. Great service, atmosphere (loved the 80's music selection!), and great food.

Yelp
We were looking for a place to meet her daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter for a Sunday evening dinner. Denton was about halfway between the two of us. I hopped on Yelp and found Rooster's. It was very easy to get to. Since we had never been there before, we needed to read over the menu. The waitress was very nice and patient. We ordered barbecue and it was a fabulous choice. it came with chips, Texas toast, and spicy pickles. My wife thought they were too hot; I thought they were just right. She said she was a "weenie." LOL. It was kind of a mix of a bar and a restaurant. Very relaxing and comfortable. It also had TV screens all around...where I discovered that the Cowboys finally snapped its five-game losing streak and beat Washington. Would recommend and will go again.

Yelp
Food amazing, event going on outside so it was busy. Waitress pissed that I'm by myself so disinterested and snotty. Food was great patty melt an the rosett fries which are a fried up onion. It was perfection l. Never even asked me how my meal was. Which it was great.

Aliene M.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Amazing service. Ordered a combo of fried pickles and jalapeños. Fried jalapeños are made out of fresh sliced jalapeños, not pickled jalapeños. Some slices are mild, some are really spicy! Excellent!!! Ordered the pig tails. Hubby got the the cheesesteak. I got the smoked turkey. OH, and you gotta try the PB&J shot! We will be back! We will be back regularly!

Brittany R.

Yelp
My husband and I went here for a date night and it was such a great experience! We had Jackson as our server he was super nice and helped us with what to order! The brisket queso and double wells $4 drinks were 10/10! The food came out QUICK! I would definitely recommend this place! Good bbq, good service and good vibes!

Yelp
When you want all the flavor but can't eat a half pound burger try the great Texas Sliders. Delicious grilled onions and jalapeños
google avatar

Lori B.

Yelp
I was visiting a friend while in Denton and we went to Roosters because they serve Jalitos with ranch as an appetizer. I was not disappointed with their crispiness and the portion served. The Turkey sandwich I got for dinner was excellent and delicious. Our server was very kind, attentive and accommodating. The roadhouse charm was there in spades. We had a great, enjoyable meal here.

Max E.

Yelp
I was walking on the square and realized I needed to cool off pretty quick from the Texas heat so I ducked in this restaurant and sat in the floor. As I was trying to catch my breath, an employee with a dark beard with scraggly grey hairs in it began gently tapping me with his foot. He demanded I leave and didn't even ask if I was ok.
google avatar

Cathleen S.

Yelp
I wanted this to be a five-star review but like so many restaurants these days, a shortage of waitstaff leads to long waits while looking at empty tables. Hostess was frustrated with her constraints and defensive in her responses- tough gig. Food, though, was fabulous! Lots of variety on the menu, healthy portions, really tasty, up-scale bar fare. Ambiance- college town bar typical- urinals cut from kegs got our gents' attention and a chuckle. Kitchen service times and waitstaff were great for our large group- it made it worth the extended wait and surly greeting up front. We'll be back-maybe we can order ahead to go?
google avatar

Kayla P.

Yelp
Super chill atmosphere! Out waitress was attentive and efficient. The food came out really quickly and the burger I had was amazing. The prices are also super affordable. Also I definitely judge a place by its ranch and they did not disappoint!

Yelp
Met up with a couple do friends for a casual lunch in a Sunday, and they picked this place. Roosters is a cute and inexpensive spot with a menu ranging from bbq to southern staples like chicken fried steak. Wish I had been hungrier, everything we got was so good! The mimosas are $4 on Sundays, but they have different specials every day of the week. We ordered a table full of appetizers: chips and queso, redneck sushi, okra, and rooster tails. The breakfast shots were also good. Our server Shea was awesome, highly recommend popping in and seeing her! Parking is scarce right in front (typically is on the square) so we parked between Wells Fargo and the restaurants on industrial.

Tarou S.

Yelp
if i could give 0 i would. service was bad, food was mediocre, and the red neck sushi was stolen from the rusty buckle bbq company. then they have the audacity to call out a small restaurant in SANGER TX about stealing the brisket sushi. horrible manager. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Delisa C.

Yelp
Food, service, and atmosphere were great. Service was quick, cocktail selection was amazing. We had an appetizer plate, brisket burger and a salad. Would definitely visit again.

Richard J.

Yelp
It was a packed house for lunch but the service was great! Rooster tails and sliders was enough for two of us. Yep, you need to give it a try.
google avatar

Lysette R.

Yelp
Good serving sizes; was very full after eating. Had to pay extra for BBQ sauce, which was just in a tiny ramekin. Brisket was dry. Tots were crispy. It was decent.
google avatar

Sue H.

Yelp
Three of us ordered LEAN sliced barbecue sandwiches. One sandwich was so full of fat and gristle that it was an edible . We did ask for a new sandwich and was provided a much better lean sandwich. The other two sandwiches were very grizzly and chewy. Very disappointed that we were served subpar barbecue.
google avatar

Dia N.

Yelp
Great burgers and drinks at great prices. Salads are also solid. If we were closer, it would be a go to!
google avatar

Andrea B.

Yelp
Good fried food and burgers! The cheese fries are a good way to start dinner! I had the bacon ranch burger and fried okra. My daughter enjoys the hot dog and chips off the kids menu. My son had the barbecue plate with okra. The ranch is yummy too and that's always a plus! Service is good.
google avatar

Adam N.

Yelp
Food was really good and well priced for it these days. Had a brisket burger and it was delicious. The homemade chips were just right. And the bacon jam was a nice touch on the side. (i asked for it). It wasn't too loud or too quiet, and the service was just the right amount of "whaddya need" without too much over the top. Therefore a nice spot to pop in for a good bite and not a lot of pressure. Would definitely come back here again.

Tanner E.

Yelp
Extremely rude and food is basic. Called earlier and asked a quick question. they told me," honey it was lunch rush and call back later."

Yelp
We've come here for many years and have always loved this place. We come here for my mom's birthday, she passed away in 2015 and this was her favorite restaurant. When we came today we did not a very great experience.. I started off with a Buckle bunny lemonade and was given a water from the west. I had three people to try it to make sure I wasn't being dramatic, when I told the waitress what happened she gaslit all of us to say we were wrong. When my 1 meat plate showed up there was no bbq sauce, again no big deal. My sister ordered the brisket queso with no bbq sauce and was given bbq sauce in it. When asked for it to be fixed we were given attitude. AND THEY BROUGHT IT BACK WITH BBQ SAUCE. We then asked for a slice of cheese and pickles for my sister's sandwich and was looked at like we were crazy. Then when it was brought to us she basically threw it at us. In all just a bad experience. The attitude and the multiple mistakes was a mess.. we asked for a manager and apparently there aren't any on staff.

Yelp
Phenomenal BBQ at a great price. Not a "Traditional" BBQ type restaurant, but their pulled pork sandwich is unbelievable (especially with the pickled onions - which I can't believe I loved). Also their "Smoked Tenderloin Cheesesteak" is world class!

Yelp
Our favorite restaurant in Denton. We'd go every week when living in the area. Stopped by few weeks ago still good as ever.

Yelp
I have been trying out different BBQ places in Denton throughout the week. By far, this one is SUPERB! Came here on Tuesday and I ordered a burger with all different types of meat. Very well done and great attitude with the servers. Husband ordered a little plate with a side of chips. Sweet tea was good. Will be back.

Karen B.

Yelp
OH Texan in town from GA. Got take out 2 dif nights. Service great Food good. But, not as good as I remember TX Bbq growing up in TX

Randi D.

Yelp
Enjoy a bacon shot and a great burger. We went during a local event and the service was still prompt.

Yelp
VERDICT: After visiting two times, I really like this place! It does get pretty busy during lunch hour, so arrive early. Food is good and the prices are very fair for this area. BACKGROUND: This is a company favorite place to eat so one of my coworkers took me here. ATMOSPHERE It's got character! It's a divey place adorned with some really cool TX-themed signage and taxidermy. It's clean too. Though I haven't been out back, I do believe there's an outdoor patio area but no one is crazy enough to sit back there in this summer TX heat. It's not pretentious at all. All types of Denton-ites are here from all walks of life. I like it! FOOD So far I've stuck with their burgers, which are more akin to smash burgers without the onions. I just went with the cheeseburgers so far because its just the right amount of food for me not to go into a food coma an hour later. Yesterday though the burger was a bit too salty, so there's some feedback for the restaurant :) RETURN VISIT? Definitely. I've been meaning to bring my wife here too as I know the portion sizes will be more akin to what she can eat and plus the burgers aren't over the top extra (though you can order those if you like). Great job, RR!

Yelp
We were told to go to Rooster's as they had great BBQ. We ordered the brisket queso & chips. It was pretty good and she brought us more chips when we ran out. I ordered the Pork Sandwich. Our order arrived pretty quickly. My small portion of pork was on two pieces of Texas Toast and no sauce? I prefer a bun and bbq sauce as who eats a dry sandwich?? How about some pickles too? I asked if they had potato salad but was told they didn't have that. I guess I am used to these traditional BBQ dishes. My husband had to go ask for some BBQ sauce as the the server never showed up again until the end to bring us the check. I think we will go to Rudy's or try other BBQ spot in the area next time as overall, it was just ok.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 THE GREATEST BURGER JOINT OF ALL TIME. Rooster's just gets everything right. The burgers, the fries/tots, the beer, the desserts. Try the rooster tails as an appetizer, you won't be disappointed. Absolute perfection. Service: 5/5 The wait staff never lets you see the bottom of your glass, and they get orders out quickly! Environment: 5/5 Rooster's looks like a burger joint and has a great bar as well. Tons of room and a patio out front and in the back.

Yelp
While visiting our child over at UNT we were looking for a dog friendly place to eat, as we had taken our puppy with us. Found this great restaurant off the square, they were super busy so that was a great sign the food was good. We sat out on the front patio with our puppy. Enjoyed our food, great service. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be going back again.
