Root 81

Can not recommend this restaurant enough. A refreshing break from the usual food. Food was excellently prepared and presented. Staff were excellent too and for one who appreciates glass and tableware, a big well done. This was our first time but can not wait to return. 👏👏👏

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Root 81 in Rabat. The food was not only beautiful to look at, but each dish was full of depth, harmony, and little surprises that made every bite special. It was one of those meals where flavors keep unfolding, a true pleasure for the senses. The service was warm, genuine and attentive, and the view over the Maltese countryside made it feel even more peaceful and memorable. We came here on recommendation from locals, and we immediately understood why. Chef Robert was not there during our visit, but we would like to give our heartfelt compliments to the chef who was in the kitchen that day, the skill, balance and creativity were truly exceptional. We hope to return again soon, and hopefully meet Chef Robert next time. A place we will definitely come back to.

We are staying near Dingli approx 10 minutes from Rabat. It had been a quiet day by the pool and we booked Root 81 on a whim. I cannot fault anything about the experience. The food is high quality, perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive. I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I've had anywhere let alone Malta. A lovely evening all round.

It’s clear that each dish is crafted with genuine care and love, and it shows not only in the exquisite flavors but also in the stunning presentation—every plate looked like a work of art. The taste was simply delicious, bursting with freshness and perfectly balanced. What’s even more impressive is how affordable this wonderful dining experience is. The pricing is very friendly, making every euro spent feel completely worth it for the quality and generosity of the meal. The service was impeccable—attentive, warm, and professional—making us feel truly welcomed throughout the evening. All in all, Root 81 offered me the best dinner I have had in Malta. It’s a unique gem where great food, amazing views, and outstanding hospitality come together to create a perfect evening. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit if you want to enjoy exceptional cuisine in a serene setting—you won’t be disappointed!

If you are looking for Michelin grade restaurant without hundreds of $$ hitting your wallet- this is the place. Presentation, quality of food and pleasure to your taste buds are here. For $200 a couple you can have an experience of real Michelin establishment.

The food was absolutely divine. Amazing cocktails especially the pink gin cotswalds one. Nice atmosphere and great service. Definitly will return.

It was truly a gastronomic experience of the finest kind... The food was exquisite, the service impeccable... Really enjoyed our evening... We Will surely be back.
