Aging Mediterranean Restaurant Pinea Is Closing | Eater DC

"I saw that the companion Root Cellar bar, also currently overseen by Barry Koslow, is slated to be wiped away as part of the W Hotel's $50 million renovation, and hotel personnel could not provide a specific timetable for its closure or transition." - Warren Rojas

The lady that waited on us while checking out was not very friendly. While paying she addressed my grand children because my grandson put the honey bottles back on the shelf after looking at them without the labels facing forward. She told them to fix them. Wasn’t sure what she was talking about at 1st. We purchased $33.46 worth of products and would have returned but will not be going back. At 70 years old I was surprised that an employee/owner would treat a customer like that. Definitely part of their job.

I subscribe to the bounty box. I love my subscription. The option to pick up every other week fits into my budget. The Root Cellar ALWAYS ALWAYS accommodates my food restrictions, which have been beyond my allergies because of additional dietary restrictions for other medical issues. Even with those and thd Balsam of Peru allergy, I leave with the same amount of items as anyone else every time. They have also accommodated my fight with chronic pain, allowing me to pick up the next day. No complaints, other than I wish it was cheaper, but I want the farmers to have a fair rate. It's not more expensive than shopping at an organic market, from my experience, and it makes participating in a farm share attainable for someone on a budget. And I am learning about food I have never tried, like turnips, which are now one of my favorite vegetables!

The weekly food box subscription is such a neat concept. My husband and I are cooking more often now and with vegetables we would never have chosen at the grocery store. If you don't like or are allergic to something in the box, they will allow you to substitute items. I definitely recommend giving it a try! The only downside is that their pickup hours don't start until noon.

We're enrolled in the weekly food box program; we receive the Plowman's Box. Every week we are surprised at the excellent quality of the products and great it is to have a place like this. The Root Cellar is doing the right things and if you're looking to get produce and other agricultural products that are low impact on the Earth while increasing your health, look no further! I think my favorite part is how every week we get a newsletter with recipes I would never do, but every time I try them out and they work so well! Their recommendations are superb.

The food/product is high quality, all organic & some of it's local. All things I love. But the few times I've visited I haven't seen anyone use a scale to correctly price the vegetables by pound or ounce & the receipts aren't itemized. I'm glad to recommend their local selections, but all I purchase here anymore are the sticker priced items & local meat.

This is a great little stop for high-quality, fresh produce. Pricing is pretty reasonable, maybe a bit on the expensive side, but you definitely get what you pay for. At the very least it’s worth a look around, and I highly recommend buying at least one of the jars of jam.

This is a great little grocery store. I love all the local options and I've found things here I can't find in larger stores. Their weekly boxes are great too, I love the items it introduces me to and the recipes they include with the boxes. It's helped me try things I may not have otherwise.

We get a Bounty Box through the summer. It is a great way to support local farms and get a variety of fresh produce. The staff is very helpful. Not always a great place if you are in a hurry as the check out can get backed up with just a few customers.
