A Complete Guide to Austin Restaurants Featured in Movies and TV | Eater Austin

"A family-owned business that has served Sicilian style pizza for over 25 years, Roppolo’s Pizza brings a delicious authenticity to downtown Austin. Its familial aspect infused with the party atmosphere of Sixth Street made the pizzeria the perfect background for a love montage scene in actor and director Drew Barrymore’s roller derby drama Whip It. As a couple playfully frolics on foot down Sixth, they stop in front of Roppolo’s to do a quick piggyback ride, which is just enough time for their grab-and-go pizza slice options. Roppolo’s is open for dine-in, to-go orders, online ordering, and curbside pick-up." - Marisa Mirabal

Google
It’s a good street pizza. I think their storefront location close to campus tastes better, but still better than a chain pizza. Service was great… but it is pricey. I think it was like $7 for one slice. But hey when you don’t have competition you can charge it. And if you don’t want to eat there, don’t. I’m sure the rent for that location is extremely expensive

Google
Roppolo’s Pizzeria on 6th Street is a must-try in Austin. The giant pizza slices are fresh, flavorful, and perfectly crisp. Excellent quality and the perfect late-night stop downtown

Google
I dropped in here (well, dropped im for takeaway) several times. It only opens early evening, but keeps going until the small hours. The pizzas are fabulous, and after a few visits, this being my first visit to Austin, I felt very welcomed. Very tasty! 🍕

Google
Stop here late night for a bite to eat pizza was freaking amazing, staff was even more amazing. This was my first time to Austin and I didn't expect to find this delicious New York style pizza. They had amazing combinations tons of toppings pizza was hot and fresh with just a right amount of chew and stretch with the crust. First time here from Utah!

Google
Late night pizza place when hanging out on 6th Street. Great- quick service. Reasonable pricing. The crust was a little chewy for my liking, however it tasted really good. Overall for some quick food and a nice big slice- I'd totally come here. Many different options in their cases. Yes, they do reheat the pie when you order. Although, it seemed to be done in an actual oven and not in a microwave or anything like that.

Google
Amazing pizza! The crust was cooked to perfection, with the slightest crunch and the overall taste was delicious! My friends and I agreed this is the best pizza we’d ever had. The dining area was big and there were so many fans so we stayed cool from the summer heat! The service was extremely efficient. we were served immediately because of how attentive the staff were! Although the staff is very loud when calling the next summer, I appreciated the efficiency :)

Google
Dylan & Roberto were very friendly. Comfortable atmosphere food was nice and warm. Very accommodating. They checked up on us frequently made suggestion on the food since it was our first time eating there. Garlic cheese bread was very delicious lots of cheese. They were quick to clean up after customers left.

Google
Great spot to get food around 9 PM on 6th street. The pizza slice was very big and the crust had a crisp to it, which was really nice. In the back, there was seating area that made you feel like you were in New York, which was pretty cool. The people working there were super nice, and had a great attitude.

Yelp
Great pizza for what it is. It's everything you would need at any point you're on the dirty 6th. A slice to keep you going through the night if you forgot to eat.Or something to soak up all the liquids. If you head further back in the establishment you will find seating and a staircase leading to more seating.Otherwise hit the street with your paper plate. Slices are about $4.50 a slice. They accept Apple Pay.

Yelp
service was ok. staff seemed short that day and they were too friendly. it wasnt even busy when we stopped by - so... moving on. ambiance - we got a few slices for takeout, nothing stood out in particular. food - we grabbed about 4 slices to go. they were not properly heated up for us, so we ended up waking 20 mins back to our air bnb to reheat it ourselves. nothing special about any of the slices we got. dough was a tad too dense, overall it tasted pretty mediocre in my opinion. definitely needs more sauce..it wastoo dry.

Yelp
Not sure how this spot is getting bad reviews. We really enjoyed the pizza! Made fresh and very good! Full of flavor! Food: we shared one slice of pizza. Like I said above we were both very impressed! Made fresh and came out piping hot. The customer service is really good too. Not sure how or what they are getting bad reviews because we really enjoyed our slice. Would definitely go back if we were I. The area. Reminded me of New York. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Some good pizza! We ended up here after a show at The Mothership. My wife pointed out the pizza shop and one of the employees enthusiastically waved us in. We went with our go to; a slice of cheese; the best way to taste how the pizza really is. It was good! Service was quick and the slice was plated and served hot. So glad we randomly discovered this place for a nice snack on the walk back to our hotel.

Yelp
We got their pizza delivered on Saturday night and it was solid. Both their cheese and pepperoni pizza were enjoyable. The only downside was it took about an hour to get the food delivered. Although we also ordered at 11pm when many other pizzaerias were probably closed for the night, so there's that too.

Yelp
I love a good hotel bed pizza, so I was excited to try Roppolo's after the hotel staff recommended it. When we first walked by, their lights were all off on the truck so we thought they were closed. But that was kind of weird because it was a Friday night and not that late... so we ended up at the gyro cart across the street. Then we looked again and the lights were back on! I love a good slice, so I went back over. I had ordered two slices when I realized I forgot my wallet in the hotel room. Luckily they took Apple Pay, which was great. I got a margherita slice and a pepperoni, sausage, and jalapeno slice. I was kind of shocked when the total was $20 (that was including a decent tip as the guy was really nice), but hey, when in Austin I guess. The pizza was just 3-star ok. The margherita pizza was underneath the other slice in the box and had kind of started falling apart and was really soggy. The pepperoni slice fared better and stayed intact. I prefer the pizza slice places where they run it through an oven right before they give it to you, but that's just not what this spot is about. Convenient and quick is what this Roppolo's has going for it.

Yelp
Best pizza spot on sixth Street. They have buffalo chicken, Margarita, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, and jalapeño, Hawaiian pizza, they have everything you could want after getting drunk on sixth Street. Love the spot, it has plenty of space outback for seating.
google avatar

Miles S.

Yelp
Took this pizza off 1 or 3 drinks. 6th street, late night pizza. You know the vibes. Not about to change ya life but when you had a couple 21+ dranks, this your spot! Quick service.
google avatar

Marissa G.

Yelp
I went to Roppollo's Pizzeria with my family for a late night snack after a concert. It was a cool little place to stop by and get some pizza. The guy at the front taking orders was nice and he gave us time to figure out what we wanted. He put in our order and they started taking care of it. I got a slice of Hawaiian pizza. It was a big slice. It had, bacon, ham and pineapple. It was good. It was probably equal to about two regular sized slices. The interior is okay. It's a small dining area but there is a lot more seating outside in the back in a huge deck patio area. The parking area is also small and located at the back of the building. It was a good slice of pizza for a late night snack.

Yelp
Conveniently located right on 6th Street the spot if you are looking for Kate night pizza. They serve it by the slice or you can get a whole pie. The pizza is always hot and fresh and cheaply priced. You pay what you get nothing really special about the pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
Late night bites after drinking...go to Roppolo's and get you some delicious pizza! Soooo good and the large is massive for only $23.
google avatar

Sarah R.

Yelp
100% recommend.. had ordered the Papa Calzone, and a large pizza for myself and co-workers. Talk about delicious, and so filling. Everyone LOVED IT! Really fresh, and top quality ingredients with a crust that is undefeated! Will definitely be ordering again
google avatar

Jesmin N.

Yelp
The perfect place after a night out for late night pizza! Slices are big and filling. It's nice that they have a non peperoni option that isn't just cheese. My only regret is not being able to eat more than one slice at the time. My smallest and quickest review yet.

Benjamin O.

Yelp
This pizza is absolutely amazing.. I've lived in both NYC and CHI, and this rates a 9/10 for me.. Customer service was maybe a bit grumpy while I was there, but overall a great slice of pizza!
google avatar

Yelp
This family is a fan! We placed an order and my husband picked it up. Accidentally ordered during a crowded SXSW evening spot took us a while to get there. It was a long drive home but most of the car was asleep anyway. When we did go at it, we enjoyed the taste, texture, thinness of our pepperoni pizza. It was great on the 2 reheats as well! I'm not sure if we will make the trek all the way back, but Roppolo's made us a fan!
google avatar

jenna r.

Yelp
Pizza crust was very doughy and came cold when we ordered delivery, needs to be cooked longer. Did come very loaded with toppings.
google avatar

Michelle O.

Yelp
Placed perfectly on sixth street, so a great stop for quick bite in between bar hops! I got the pizza here two days in a row as my friend's and I favorite pit stop - love that they heated it up so the crust was warm and bottom stayed crispy. Also loved that they have seating inside if you needed a little break from drinks and just a breather from the busy street
google avatar

Dariusz Z.

Yelp
Really fresh. Lots of selections. Fresh and quick. Right on 6th in between all the bars and live music. Late hour open. Perfect anytime
google avatar

Casey C.

Yelp
Best pizza in the best location. It was so clutch after a night of bar hopping to have good pizza to soak up all the alcohol and refuel us for the walk back to the hotel. If you're on sixth, you're probably stopping by here at some point in the night.

Noelis T.

Yelp
If you're gonna listen to anyone about pizza you should listen to someone who doesn't like pizza and still has amazing things to say about this place. You walk in, it's humble little pizza shop. Super nice and attentive staff yadda, yadda, yadda, now to the good stuff: THE PIZZA. If you're just popping in for a slice, which is what me and and a friend were doing they throw it straight into the oven to get it nice, CRISP and UNIFORMLY warm and gooey. I wasn't even that hungry and the pizza had me ascending to the heavens. I will 10000% be back asap. Probably soon. It was perfect- again from a person who isn't really a pizza fan. We practically inhaled our slices by the register so we didn't get a chance to sit down but the environment in there was definitely welcoming- so we would have if the pizza wasn't so good we couldn't help but eat it as it was handed over.

David L.

Yelp
They didnt even attempt to get my order right, ordered 2 20" pizzas with different toppings, a garlic cheese bread, and a side salad. I received 2 16" pizzas with the completely wrong toppings, no cheese bread or salad at all. not even close

Yelp
Great NY style pizza. After a night of drinking you can't beat it. Sausage pepperoni is awesome!!!

Natalie V.

Yelp
Food is tasty. Giant slices of reheated yummy pizza. The ambiance is chill. Wifi is great. The service needs tweaking but satisfactory all around. It's a great place for a bite and to study. I love when they open the glass doors towards the street ^_^ A few recommendations: For the Womens restroom, some disposable toilet seat covers would be great for a public restroom. A soap dispenser that isn't a plastic bottle of dish soap would be nice lol maybe one of those push press upside down ones would be cool. And some paper towels for hand drying too. Also, a foot pull/opener for the bottom of the door would be awesome! For the margharita pizza, if the basil toppings are added after the pizza is cooked, I think it would add to the visual appeal. Like that they aren't burned up in the oven. And for the Caesar salad, bitesize bits of the romaine lettuce would be great, just so people don't have to unhinge their jaws like anacondas to put 2x2x2 inch pieces of lettuce into their mouths ^_^ After 33 years, you guys know what you're doing. Like I started, just recommendations :) here's to another 33! Thank you for the meal

Yelp
Totally got rude service because???? Maybe they need more cheese? I do NOT recommend their sub par pizza and super RUDE service
google avatar

Thaddeus Y.

Yelp
Stopped by this place after bar hopping because the smell of pizza was too good not to check out. Went in to see that it was similar to New York styled pizza joints, which was a pleasant surprise! The service was quick and simple, someone will just go up to you from behind the counter and pick up the slices you choose. They proceed to heat it up immediately, which is fantastic on a cold night after several drinks. I personally got the pepperoni and sausage pizza and it tastes DELICIOUS. The sauce was sweet and hearty, cheese had a good pull to it, meat was flavorful but not greasy, and the crust was crisp yet chewy. Plus the size of the slices are huge!!! This is my first time visiting Austin, TX and I will definitely be going here again when I come back the next time! It's a must if you're hanging around 6th street!!! Highly recommend for pizza lovers and foodies!!
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Perfect place to go for a late night slice after drinking on 6th. The service was fast and we ordered a supreme pizza. Crust was amazing.
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
Great spot for late night pizza! They do huge New York style slices which you can buy by the slice. Each slice is about $5 so it's not a bad deal. I got a slice of pepperoni and it was really good! The texture of the crust was crisp but chewy, and the flavor of the sauce was nice too. I was pleasantly surprised by how good this pizza was, so give it a try!
google avatar

Taylor L.

Yelp
A must stop after any of my nights on West 6. The slices are a decent size, I wish it was less than $8 a slice though. My favorite is to ask for a packet of ranch, makes it even that much better!
google avatar

Danny J.

Yelp
I love Roppolo's pizza! Been getting their pizza for years. It's dense and delicious and the bacon toppings are fantastic.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
Very good, quick pizza. Kind service. I ordered a 16" pepperoni pizza for carryout at 11pm on a Thursday using the Slice app. The pie was ready in just over ten minutes. Pickup was smooth and fast. The pizza was delicious. Nothing fancy, wonderfully made, it really hit the spot. The cherry on top of the experience: It was a very rainy night. The man who appeared to be the manager or owner handed me my box of pizza. He asked if I was walking and if I had far to go because he didn't want my pizza box to get wet. I told him I was driving and went on my way. That extra bit of care made me feel VERY valued.
google avatar

Alexa F.

Yelp
Very good pizza. They are MASSIVE. Got three larges and that could easily feed 8 hungry people. I like that it's mainly thin on the bottom but then it gets thick around the sides of the crust. Got a cheese, pepperoni, and a Hawaiian. Was a 5 min easy walk from our hotel and they make the pizzas quickly. Open late too!
google avatar

Niki D.

Yelp
I was walking around 6th street looking for a gluten free vegan spot and stubble across this place. I order a gluten free vegan veggie pizza (large). It was around $25. The service was amazing m. The owner was probably the most kind and patient person I have met while visiting Austin. I explained my food allergies and he made sure I could eat there. When the pizza came it was extremely HOT and fresh and the vegan cheese was melted nicely. It was seasoned well too. After taking a bite I realize there was fresh garlic all over it. I was annoyed with myself because I forgot to mention my allergy to fresh garlic. I threw away the entire pizza and went to order a new one. The owner would not allow me to pay even though it was my fault. He wasn't even upset, he just made another one! He talked and joked with me the entire time. And I even witness him giving out free pizza to a homeless man who said he was hungry. The pizza was Soo good. I'm not sure why this place doesn't have a 5 star rating. Please go and support this business. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Sheronda S.

Yelp
Went here because I needed some food to soak up the alcohol, they had just opened. Pizza was fresh and tasted very good! The sauce was perfect not to little and not too much. I will definitely try them again. I had the cheese and combination slices.
google avatar

Maria B.

Yelp
It was late night, and I was excited to see that they offered GF crust but: NOT THE CASE. Please, if you're Gluten free, celiac, intolerant... do nottttt order from here. I got so sick that night and into the next day. Very disappointed unfortunately.

Ki I.

Yelp
Pizza was big but taste wasn't super great. Wasn't bad though. Fair to say I didn't get a regular pepperoni slice so might have just gotten the wrong slice.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
$6.50 for a regular size slice of mediocre pizza is a total ripoff. They are trying to take advantage of you.

Sarah N.

Yelp
Hosted a dinner for 40 and Roppolo's was amazing. Very accommodating and excellent food. Super casual spot that delivered exactly the laid back atmosphere we were searching for. The pizzas are bar none! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Hailey R.

Yelp
I love their pizza! Big slices, yummy crust, and super friendly employees! It's a definite must if you're on 6th!
google avatar

Emely R.

Yelp
Every good pizza right on 6th street especially when your out late drinking haha. Prices are very affordable and staff are very quick too. If you go to the back section they have an upstairs lounge and bottom lounge too for when it gets really packed they have enough room for everyone I really liked that. They are open till 2am almost everyday!
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
This location is small and you could clearly see the oven from the waiting area. The employees were poorly groomed and their clothes were dirty/sloppy. The guy working the register went to take my pizza slice out with his bare hands, it was obviously very hot. He threw the pizza on the counter and put the tips of his fingers into his mouth to cool them off??? Then he picked up my pizza slice with his extremely dirty hands and placed it in a box. It was disgusting, luckily there was homeless man camping by the entrance. He was happy to eat it, I truly believe this place is kitchen nightmares dirty.
google avatar

Tyler B.

Yelp
I really enjoy getting just a huge slice of pizza from here. Crust is crunchy and i have no complaints. 2 slices is more than enough for me.
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
WTF?!?!?! Growing up in jersey, close proximity to NYC and Philly, I know what good pizza is. Texas typically has sh**pizza, but holy heck! This pizza was SWEET, JUICY, SAVORY, CHEWY, CRISPY!! Huge slices, quick ordering. It is THEE best decision you will ever make in all of the decisions made on 6 street!
google avatar

Kaya S.

Yelp
We ordered a cheese slice, two veggies and one magherita slice. All of the were good the cheese was just ok for me but my partner liked it. The staff is great highly recommended if you are in the area
google avatar

DeWayne R.

Yelp
We were looking for something to eat, after a date night of playing pool and darts. We passed this place up, while we were walking down 6th street and decided to go back and try it out. There was a long line, so we knew that either this place was good or people were just hungry after drinking, it was the closest thing to the bars, and either of those worked for us! The pizza sits in the window, you pick what you want and they stick it in the pizza oven for you. We got a few slices and they did not disappoint.
google avatar

Emm T.

Yelp
They fed me with speed and no judgement when two other food establishments didn't even come by to offer water. Pizza will never fail you.
google avatar

Tyler C.

Yelp
Micro slice pizzeria sandwiched between the bars of 6th street in downtown Austin. $4.5 for an extra small slice too hot to eat with a whiff of cheese and the memory of tomato sauce from other slices before it. I'd suggest this place after a night of drinking. Not a destination otherwise. They do have r-shirts and hats though. Which are promoted more than the food Asked if I wanted a salad "oh yeah, we don't have salad", so no, there is no salad here. I do think it qualifies to be classified as "pizza" as it has dough and cheese and is cooked in a pizza oven.
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
This place was Awsome! Got into Austin late last night, walked downtown and these guys were open and super nice.. warmed us up each a slice of Pizza and let us sit in the back with the heaters! 10 out of 10 recommended
google avatar

Bruce B.

Yelp
You know whenever you're in New York City and you walk into a random pizza outlet there to get a slice and it's like the best thing you ever put in your mouth? Well, the pizza served here is the closest you're going to get to that in the entire Lone Star State. I don't always eat pizza when I'm on Sixth Street, but when I do, it's always gotta be a slice from Roppolo's Pizzeria.
google avatar

Jake H.

Yelp
Roppolo's Pizzeria is conveniently located right in the heart of 6th street and is open even after the bars close so it makes sense for their business. It's not the best pizza and the window pies have been sitting there for quite some time. If you are looking for some fresh pizza, you gotta go elsewhere but if you are looking for a quick bite late into the evening, Roppolo's is open.
google avatar

Joseph H.

Yelp
Warm. Crisp. Robusto. Warm temperatures (...wait a few minutes and then take a bite - you'll thank your palate later). Crisp texture that scores a home run right from the very start of your mouth down to very core of your stomach. Robust flavors that will keep you coming back for more.
