⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easily the Best Omakase Experience on Staten Island I had an absolutely amazing experience here. I tried the Omakase, and every single course was on another level — super fresh, beautifully presented, and made with real skill. The chefs were incredibly attentive and didn’t rush anything. They waited for me to fully finish each piece before preparing the next one, which made the whole experience feel personal and authentic. They also offer more than just Omakase. The carne salad was fantastic, and the sushi rolls were honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. You can really taste the quality in everything they serve. The staff was friendly, professional, and made me feel right at home. This was without a doubt the best sushi experience I’ve ever had on Staten Island, and I’m already planning to come back regularly. Highly recommend this spot to anyone who loves sushi or wants a true Omakase experience.

My family and I had the absolute pleasure of attending the tuna cutting event at Roppongi Robata, and it was truly an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric, filled with excitement, curiosity, and an incredible appreciation for Japanese culinary artistry. Watching the chef expertly break down an entire bluefin tuna right in front of us was nothing short of mesmerizing. Every movement was precise, skillful, and educational. The team took the time to explain each cut, the texture differences, and how each one would be prepared turning the whole event into both a show and a masterclass. And then came the sushi. Every bite was fresh, buttery, and bursting with flavor. The toro was melt-in-your-mouth amazing, and the presentation was just as beautiful as the taste. You could feel the care and craftsmanship behind every single piece. A special shoutout to Vincent, our host for the evening, who made the entire experience even better. He was warm, engaging, and made everyone feel welcome. His energy and attention to detail elevated the event and made it truly memorable. If you’re a sushi lover or even if you’re new to Japanese cuisine, Roppongi Robata is an absolute must-visit. The tuna cutting event is an experience you won’t forget. Exceptional food, outstanding service, and a team that genuinely loves what they do.

Came here for my birthday with my husband, we did the omakase option for 13 courses. All the staff here are super nice, food is phenomenal! Will definitely be back to try their regular menu.

Roppongi Robata & Sushi offers a warm, quiet atmosphere that makes for a truly pleasant dining experience. I started with a lychee martini made with smooth Japanese vodka and natural flavors—absolutely delicious. The appetizers were flavorful, and the sushi was addictive—especially the scallop piece, which was my favorite. I also had the whole red snapper and some Robata skewers, and watching the chef cook was such a cool experience. The service was amazing—the gentleman who helped us was kind, attentive, and explained each dish so well. Highly recommend for both the food and the vibe. 🥂

The Omakase tasting was excellent! Seabream and kumomoto oyster was fabulous. Traditional sushi bar atmosphere.

Just tried Roppongi Robata for the first time after walking through the doors, the atmosphere feels so authentic and smells fresh. The waiter and chef members were so welcoming and escorted us to our seats. We ordered the Wakakusa Omakase which includes a variety of different premium fish, from king salmon to the A5 wagyu paired with their sake and cocktail options were amazing. After the course we also ordered some A-La-Carte which we had the O-toro sushi as well as the botan ebi sushi and the presentation as well as the taste was out of this world. They also offer different type of seasonal fish as the chef stated. Definitely will be back next time to try the Robatayaki which is there traditional Japanese grilling method!!!

The service was impeccable, with attentive staff and an engaging chef. The sake pairings perfectly complemented each course. Highly recommend for an unforgettable dining experience !

Google
Found my new favorite sushi place. Unassuming on the outside, but beautifully designed inside. We were very warmly welcomed at about 7:30pm on a Monday night, our server was attentive and informative, and the food was all very fresh. Chicken gyoza and spicy Kani salad, and then our sushi rolls. There were some other really appealing things like their skewers and ramen, and a lot of interesting drinks that I want to come back and try. This restaurant deserves much more attention!!

Yelp
June 13, 2025 - This review is for their live Tuna cutting show: This was a fun little intimate experience where they serve a 98 dollar tuna cutting omakase menu. The bluefin tuna was as fresh as it comes and the omakase style of half raw half Robata-yaki was quite unique. The otoro and chutoro were extremely mouthwatering and melted in your mouth with ease! This was the first time having a yakitori style of the otoro which was extremely delicious. The bone marrow was also quite unique and flavorful even though it was only a tiny amount. The Akami robata-yaki was also quite raw compared to the otoro and tuna cheek robata-yaki (as evident in the picture) and made the texture seem off, so adjusting its cooking time to ensure it's at least medium-rare would be great! Overall, for their first time hosting a live tuna cutting omakase, it was pretty decent and fun to experience. My only recommendation is to potentially add a few more courses to enhance the experience even more. Nowadays omakase is overly saturated all over NYC, with many serving 13-18 pieces for less than 100. I think adding some variety by using the tuna to construct other appetizers would be the way to go, for the tuna avocado tartare seemed a bit generic albeit extremely fresh. From my experience, omakases with at least 3 appetizers provided the best contrast and balance when paired with the other main raw/cooked courses. Lastly, adding a soup and a dessert would have definitely elevated this fun experience even more, creating a more unique experience that can definitely set Roppongi Robata apart from other omakases. The staff, the service and the ambiance are perfect as is, so please don't change anything, for the staff were all so friendly, kind, and warm. I truly believe that being just a bit more generous in its portion and/or course selection would definitely help diners feel like they got more than their moneys worth and would keep them coming back for more. I wish Roppongi Robata & Sushi nothing but the best, for they have the potential of being one of the very best omakase restaurant in all of Staten Island as they work towards finding their niche to set them apart! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Yelp
Yes these are Manhattan prices in Staten Island. But the quality is way worth the price. The crispy rice for the omakase was 2 bites for me. Typically a crispy rice in a Manhattan in omakase would be 1 bite. The vibes are great. The service is very quick and the staff like to get to know their customers. Great job Roppongi.

Yelp
My wife and I recently chose this location for the celebration of our 7th wedding anniversary. While the venue is modest in its physical size, the dining experience delivered was of the highest caliber. We found the cuisine quality and, specifically, the service provided by Vincent is the most professional we've had in a long time , he did not hesitate to welcome us nor did the sushi chefs . This japanese cuisine offers a premium dining experience we will never forget.

Yelp
This is a straight up bar counter service with excellent food and service. Max room for maybe 15-18? The corner being the optimal seating for more than three but you'll have to get lucky as the reservation for the coveted corner is never guaranteed. Ambiance is simple as the forward view over the bar is what demands your attention. They do a Japanese Roppongi style of food preparation for the hot dishes wherein the chef will kneel on a pad in front of a grill to make food preparations. Then you can be served with the extension of a serving paddle! Always fresh and hot and delicious. You can watch the sushi chefs wield incredible skills and knives to slice fish like butter. There are an enormous amount of choices from lamb chops to special shelled offerings. Ramen to sushi with all manner of specialty rolls as well as sashimi. Best to review the menus prior to going to get the lay of the land. It can be overwhelming. They curate a select sake selection as well. Very enjoyable but not on the cheap side. You do get what you pay for however so expect to pay 50-60 per and more of drinks are chosen. Well worth it for a special night out. Near the Atrium movie theater on Arthur Kills.

Yelp
I came back here to try their ramen and some sushi rolls. Our server was sweet and very attentive. It was freezing today, so a warm bowl of ramen was the perfect meal. The server started us off with a warm hand towel and served us a nice cup of hot green tea. When our ramen arrived, everything was fresh and delicious. The eel avocado roll was perfectly made. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in Staten Island. One thing to note: the restaurant is cozy, like a spot you'd find in Japan, so it's pretty small. Be sure to call ahead and reserve a spot!

Yelp
We just participated in the tuna show. It was so exciting and delicious! Would highly recommend it to fish lovers and adventurers. Many thanks to the Rappongi crew who were entertaining, knowledgeable and soooo very talented.

Yelp
Wow! Unexpected! The Tri Color Roll, the Salmon Avocado , Spicy Tuna Roll were all surprisingly good. We popped in here to have a quick bite, but we were take aback by the service , decor , and quality of food. The platters and flatware were really nice. The Robata bbq was a draw and a lovely experience. they cooked in front of you and handed it to you immediately. The price was really affordable.

Yelp
We had gone a few times to an excellent Omakase that had opened on SI but that was pricey. We awaited Roppongi Robata opening from banner, when we hit the next door movies for a year. When they opened, we went. There was an Asian family in front of a small sushi bar glass case, so we sat at the end, my wife kept telling them how Uni was my super favored fish, they basically ignored us for the first 20 to 25 mins., no tea or soup or starting appetizer like at other places we had tried. There was an Omakase experience was minimal at best. We went for the higher priced one. They opened a wooden box and pulled out one small piece at a time giving it on plate with a very long paddle they use while behind bar. Nothing presented beautifully, the fish was small but okay, not even an extra piece of Uni, nothing, only thing my wife liked was they allowed us a coupon discount. She's not big on some fish, so I ordered her, besides spicey tuna, the large skewed shrimp prawn special, what came was a small uncleaned prawn on a stick, by the time I pulled the head and tail off and cleaned off shell, there was nothing left much for her to eat. We would rather spend more and get a real, amazing Omakase experience with beautiful presented courses at Omakase ichi in Great Kills, Roppongi was a disappointment and we haven't returned.

Yelp
Blown away by this spot! -lived in Japan and this felt like being back Ever single aspect of our meal was exceptional. Outstanding freshness, incredible service, and flavor profiles that had me sitting in silent bliss so I could savor every ounce of deliciousness. One of the best lunches I've had. It was very clean, and everything was very high quality. Fell in love with uni again - sweet uni from Japan We went with the 15 course Omakase and were absolutely enchanted. It left us feeling perfectly full, but not too full. Flavors were indescribably excellent. Alan, the sushi chef, has incredible talent, and his sushi is true art. Vincent is a wonderful host and made us feel so at home. Already making plans to come back for robata!! (I almost don't want to leave this review so it can be my secret) They have FRESH wasabi and fly their in from Japan fresh. Everyone gave such attention to detail and care to every dish, every course, every conversation. Make a reservation or come for lunch to ensure you get a spot.

Yelp
The fish was very fresh, great atmosphere. My husband tried a few items from the grill and loved it. Very interesting combination of menus. I highly recommend this place definitely something different on the island.

Yelp

Yelp
Tried to order the red snapper ($20) but they said it was sold out. So they suggested another fish from their specials that's similar to red snapper so I got that. Its price wasn't on the menu or up on their specials board or anything. I got my bill and it was a $120 fish!! To go from wanting a $20 item to them recommending a $120 without telling me the price is TERRIBLE customer service. Now granted I should've just asked what the price was. I paid it anyway and didn't dock them on their tip but I politely informed them that while the food was good (not $120 good), they still should've given me a heads up on the market price. I will not go here anymore. And it's a shame because the omakase that my friends got looked really good! I didn't order it because I didn't want to spend $120+ on my meal. But the jokes on me!!! (their omakase cost is/was $128 for mother's day weekend)

Gabriella R.

Yelp
Probably the best Japanese restaurant on Staten Island! All the food is so fresh, delicious, and seasoned perfectly! The ambiance is also a plus it's very comfortable. The "yuzu sour" drink was so refreshing and the matcha ice cream was the perfect way to end our meal. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So I have been reading reviews since opening...All i can say is. WOW!!! This place is what sushi really is all about..if you are used to eating designer rolls and say you are going for SUSHI..then this is NOT the place for you...this place is about fresh top shelf fish and traditional Japanese custom eating..Alex is amazing and it has seating only at the sushi bar. REAL JAPANESE...every fish I ordered was incredible..from the Shima -ji..madei...big eye tuna..yellowtail..ikura..spicy tuna. Sea breem.....and pork belly yakatori just off the charts....def will be coming back for another amazing meal. I actually felt like i was back in Roppongi in Tokyo....BATTS loves this place....

Yelp
One of the best sushi places on the island. Amazing omakase or a la carte. Very fresh sushi, prepared in front of you. Chef seating only. There are no tables. Superb service as well. Great beer and sake selection. Been here twice and can't wait to eat here again!

Yelp
15 piece omakase was great. Feel like I was back in Japan. Great sake and beer collection too.

Chris B.

Yelp
Went there as a group of four tonight (Sunday night). One person ordered omakase, the rest of us ordered off the regular menu. We shared appetizers, entrees and desserts. Highly recommend the pork belly and hamachi Kama - both are delicious and cooked to perfection. Yellow tail jalapeño appetizer was also very good! The person in our group who ordered omakase said everything was excellent. The desserts were a nice treat. The taiyaki has red bean paste - so good! Nice ambiance and the service is excellent. Will be back very soon!

Minahil S.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance, sushi is always fresh and delicious, highly recommend. Fav spot in Staten Island

Dan C.

Yelp
Ordered the sanshoku don lunch donburi. You get two pieces each of tuna, salmon, and yellowtail sashimi. Everything was doused in mayo. Gross. Would not recommend.

Yelp
Went to Roppongi last night, and tried the main Omakase and the Sushi Omakase for two. It was so much food, but each bite was great. While some things might fall in to standard sushi/sashimi fare you might be able to find elsewhere on the island, other pieces were amazing and really elevated the experience. Service was great, and then location was nice and cozy -- I would've loved to have sat closer to the robata grill - maybe next time!

Gabrielle D.

Yelp
Freshest sushi I've had on the island!! The owner/manager was so kind. The restaurant is brand new inside and super nice to eat in. Definitely reccomend

Suzanne P.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. The robata items we ate were delicious and fresh. Will definitely go back and try more from the menu. Nice to see diversified restaurants coming to the area.

Michael ..

Yelp
Came here with my wife during the first week they opened. The ambiance was very nice as everything was new and arranged beautifully in the long bar style seating. The staff was very friendly and warm upon arrival and through out the evening I had high hopes going in that this would be a great new Japanese restaurant to frequent. Not knowing what this place was going to excel at I got the $150 omakase which included everything (hoping to experience the best of what they had to offer Robata & Sushi) and my wife did just the sushi omakase. While they gave a lot of dishes to the point we were very full nothing stood out or struck us as exceptional that would have made us come back especially for the price. The rice for the nigiri wasn't seasoned well at all even tasting cold and hard at times. Did not taste any different from any local restaurant which is acceptable for rolls but not for an omakase sushi experience. Some of the grilled vegetables were good but the meat wasn't anything exceptional to leave an impression. The pacing for the omakase was honestly the worst part. It was so rushed I had plates crowded in front of me almost making me rush to finish just so there would be room in front of me for more was not an experience to enjoy the flavor or these dishes. The same thing with my wife who just did sushi had nigiri piling up in front of her as which just doesn't happen in any worthwhile omakase sushi place. It was so rushed that her dessert dish was served to her before she got her last piece of sushi in the set. To be fair it was the opening week and I'm sure things needed to be ironed out but I could not recommend doing omakase here. Was disappointing because upon entering the beautiful ambiance and the warm staff I had high hopes but this really fell flat for us especially for the price point.
