Rosario’s is literally a hidden treasure. It’s hidden by the elevated MTA subway stairs. I heard great things about Rosario’s pizza in particular and of the owner. I ordered 1 square and 1 regular slice to go. They also have a deli counter if you’re feeling a sandwich. On the opposite wall you will find well stocked shelves of imported pasta, sauces, and other treats. I started with the regular slice. It held its form and after taking that first bite, wow! Damn good pizza. Crisp crust, the tomato sauce had a hint of sweetness and topped with fresh mozzarella. After devouring the regular I moved on to the square which was equally as good but hearty and light. You will be hard pressed to find a slice that good in Queens.

Amazing place. Enjoyed the low key, the service and the ambiance. Felt like i was jn the 80’s and this was inspiring and unlocked memories. Enjoy

It's absolutely phenomenal pizza. I've heard a lot of good things about Rosario's pizza and had the pleasure of trying it myself. That fresh mozzarella made in-house is so soft and flavorful. Nice shop with specialty Italian imports. I can't wait to come back& get my hands on another pie. 18" pie is $22.50 at the time of this review 06/2025.

Really charming Italian spot with everything from cheese and deli items to pantry staples and fresh pizza slices. I grabbed a slice to go and it was really good — definitely coming back when I’m in the area. The store has a great selection and the staff is super friendly. It feels homey and cozy, like a neighborhood staple. Only thing to note: the pace is very relaxed. The cashiers and staff take their time, so just be mindful if you’re in a rush. Still, worth the visit for the quality and atmosphere.

$3.75 for mozzarella like THIS on a slice?! Yes please!!! Grandma’s slice 😙👌 + nice big counter table you can sit at too.

Sauce was very good, fresh, very well seasoned. Customer service was great, no complaints there. Matter a fact they work really fast on their feet. The head hancho is still there whipping up pizzas til this day that’s how you know it’s good. When i’m in the neighborhood: it’s the best option for a quick slice without a doubt!

I've been going out of my way to come to this old school Italian deli for decades. Now everybody knows his pizzas are good and it gets crowded. I'm happy for their business, but bummed for my wait now, but it's always worth it. You really can't beat Rosario's prices for meats, cheeses and olives. They also make their food from scratch and it makes a huge difference in flavor and dare I say health. *I'm realizing this is going to make my even wait longer.

Rosario's is an oldschool gem of Astoria, Queens. The type of oldschool delis & shops that are being runover and pushed out in the city of New York to make room for fancy apartment buildings. Rosario's has survived! They have a huge selection of imported Italian goods. Chocolate croissants, biscuits, sodas & other pantry items. I was here for the pizza though. I've read & heard a lot of rave reviews of the pizza here. I can proudly say they deserve all the hype they get. They make their mozzarella fresh in-house which I appreciate so much. That mixed with their light sauce & slightly char on the bottom & slightly burnt cheese bubbles makes for an epic pizza! You just have to try it for yourself. Rosario's can go toe-to-toe with any of New York City's heavy hitters in the pizza game. Staff is very nice & friendly. Prices are very fare. Large regular 18" pie was $22.50 as of this review 06/2025.

Rosario's in Forest Hills is one of those neighborhood staples. Whether you're grabbing a quick slice or sitting down for a full Italian dinner, this place hits the mark. The pizza has thin crust, perfectly crisp, with just the right amount of cheese and sauce. I tried the classic margherita and a vodka slice, both were excellent. The vodka slice especially was creamy, flavorful, and indulgent without being too heavy. I also had their chicken parm hero on a whim, and wow crispy, juicy, and drenched in delicious marinara. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you nostalgic even if you didn't grow up eating it. The atmosphere and the staff is fast, friendly, and always on top of thing even during the dinner rush. Prices are more than fair for the quality and portions. It's casual, but you can tell they take pride in their food. Recommend!

I wandered into Rosario's on my way to the Astoria-Ditmars (N) station one afternoon, simply because it looked like a charming little vestige of pre-gentrified Ditmars Blvd. The storefront is fairly large, and the shelves are packed with pantry goods ranging from olive oils to tinned fish imported from Italy. I found the prices to be quite reasonable and really enjoyed the large selection of goods available. While I was quietly perusing the shelves, I noticed that a majority of customers who walked in made a beeline to the right side of the store, where the deli/pizza counter was. I wasn't able to try a slice at the time, but after hearing rave reviews about their pizza, I was finally able to get my hands on their Polpette pie ($27) which features meatballs from a family recipe sliced thinly to resemble pepperoni. I'm not a huge meats lover on pizza but I was pretty blown away by how delicious it was. The marinara sauce was bright and perfectly acidic, the meatball discs tender and seasoned, and the dough tossed thin enough for a good crunch but robust enough to prevent any floppiness from the weight of the mozzarella. I've eaten a good amount of pizza in Astoria, and Rosario's easily takes top 3 (maybe even top 1)! I'd love to return and try their margherita slice and their sandwiches too.

The pizza is all over the box when I open it, also the pizza is burned,the experience is not good'

This is a rare hidden gem. Great food whether their house made pizza, house made chicken parm or house made roast beef. Great sandwiches and Great food offered in the refrigerated counter like broccoli rabe or house prepared pasta (wonderful spinach lasagna or meat lasangna).The food is prepared daily at this family business with many imported items from Italy at reasonable prices. Parking may be difficult but worth the effort. Manhattan Special and Boylan beverages are in the cooler. Fresh bread for the sandwiches.

Best Italian market & delicatessen & pizzeria in a great old neighborhood in Astoria, Queens

***First things first, be prepared to wait because there's always a line.*** Other than that, the slices are so fresh and light, you could easily eat a whole pie. I'd come back for a slice or a whole pie. The crust was so thin and airy, not oily. They have a great selection of beverages and sodas. I'd come back for their market items for sure

I had the eggplant parm sandwich. I enjoyed the crispy bread, and there was a pretty substantial amount of cheese. I felt like it needed something to cut through the richness, but the sandwich was otherwise pretty good. It's a lot of food, which justified the $14 price tag.

What a stellar lunch spot hidden on a busy block! Rosario has been here FOREVER. Him and his daughter are here every single day. Rosario is making pizza, pulling fresh mozzarella and chatting it up in this family like atmosphere. His daughter is keeping this place a well oiled machine and making sure everything is great and the quality remains consistent! "The famous one" with cherry peppers is the hero that keeps me coming back over and over! Do NOT miss out on getting lunch here

Hidden gem pizzeria inside of an amazing Italian deli!!! WOW to this pizza! Incredible crust, sauce and fresh cheese. The owner and his daughter are a sweet and kind duo behind the counter. The regular and mushroom slice was beyond delicious and I could probably eat an entire pie to myself. Must try this place if you're in Astoria. Came all the way from Long Island to try!!

After listening to Action Bronson rave about the pizza here on The Roommates Podcast ( Go Knicks!), I just had to give it a try. Located right next to the N/W train station amin Astoria/Ditmars, this place was easy to find. The pizza shop is inside an Italian grocery which instantly gave it old-school vibes. The dropped by on a Thursday early afternoon and the place was not too crowded. I ordered a cheese slice and my food came out in less than 5 mins from ordering. Seating is communal. The pizza here is solid, nice, light, and crispy. It reminded me of the neighborhood slices I had as a kid living in the Bronx. BUT, it's missing that chew that I'm looking for. That mix of crisp and chew is what makes the best pizzas for me. Something that my all-time favorite Bleecker street pizza has. Slices here get a 4/5 from me. Also tried their Giuseppe sandwich. It's thinly sliced Porchetta with Provolone and broccoli Rabe heated on a roll. A classic combination. The sandwich is solid. Nice and hefty, it could easily feed 2 people. At $13.50 though it's a little pricey. The sandwich gets a 4/5 from me. Stop by for a good, classic, neighborhood slice.

Left hungry. This place was extremely busy, which is fine, I don't mind waiting as long as i eventually get my food. I asked for a margherita slice and they said they dont have any right now and it will be a while, maybe 15mins so i said i can wait. The guy said he will charge me when it comes out. I waited for close to 30mins and eventually went up to the counter to ask what slices were ready since i was hungry, to which the guy answered "you can take a look yourself ". Not to mention complete chaos between people trying to order. Left empty handed. Wish they would have at least told me nobody was preparing my order instead of just letting me sit there waiting.

I really have no idea why, as a lifelong Astoria resident, I only had Rosario's pizza just this weekend. OMG, it did NOT disappoint. It has become my legit go to pizza in Astoria. How did I sleep on this? The sauce is delicious. There is some sweetness to it which I absolutely love. The cheese, so fresh. The crust on both the Traditional and Grandma (Sicialian) was so damn tasty and just as good reheated. DO NOT SLEEP ON THEIR PIZZA. Get it. Enjoy it. Savor it. So delicious! While on line waiting to order, I also got their macaroni and potato salads. YUM YUM YUM. The macaroni was so vinegary. Just how I like it and the potato salad was closer to the german kind (which is my favorite in flavor). I'll be back. I will definitely try the rice balls next!

This place is a special place. Excellent food, large portions and reasonable prices. Everyone talks about the pizza which is amazing, but their sandwiches are excellent. Chicken parm hero and their turkey hero are great!

The sandwiches here are amazing and we also noticed the service was super fast. I also recommend you get their Italian bread if you want to make your own sandwiches at home.

I came here for a quick slice of pizza. It's more of a Italian market with a pizzeria inside. There were two guys that were behind the counter that ignored me while I was at the counter. A third worker acknowledged me and took my order right away which was just a slice of cheese pizza. They have like two tables off to the side which was nice. It allowed me to sit down and enjoy this pizza. The slice was large and had a very thin and crispy crust. The cheese and sauce ratio was also just right. Overall a very New York style pizza for an affordable price. It's not the best I've had in NYC, but I wouldn't hesitate coming back. I just hope they don't hesitate acknowledging their customers though.

Cheese & Sicilian Pizza. NOTHING SPECIAL. The Cheese Slice was adequate in taste being more flavorful than the Sicilian Slice. Surprisingly the Sicilian Slice had no Tomato Sauce dominating its flavor profile. Instead it tasted mostly like Bread with a slight hint of Mozzarella Cheese which I found off putting. Social Media has been praising the Pizza sold at ROSARIO'S as some special find which can be purchased at the back end of the DELI counter. I tend to disagree. WALK DON'T RUN.

Yeah, this place is awesome. This place screams Italian deli. It's so old school and it is awesome. It's an Italian store, sandwich shop and pizzeria in one. I love the old man that is in there, he looks like the perfect person to be in a place like this. The food: Pepperoni Sausage Pizza- Made with homemade fresh mozzarella cheese, homemade sausages, pepperoni and tomato sauce complete with hand-tossed dough. Great smell, the smell was very distinct. I thought the overall flavor was great and I liked the dough that was closer to the crust since it was a bit thicker and the crust was great. The thing I loved, it wasn't dripping with oil when you do the fold. The Famous One Sandwich- Chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, roasted peppers. I thought the chicken cutlet was excellent, really flavorful and juicy, they added a nice seasoning to the bread crumb when they cooked it. I thought the mozz was amazing and the roasted red peppers was a nice addition but I found the sandwich to be a bit dry or missing some nice tomatoes or something, even some balsamic would have been nice. I also found the bread to be on the dry side. Tirolese Sandwich- Speck, arugula, tomatoes, and shaved parmesan cheese. I thought the flavor of the speck was really nice but a tad too salty for me. There was such a pronounced flavor from the speck. The shaved parmesan was really delicious, it really added so much flavor to the sandwich. But just like above, I felt the sandwich came off on the dry side, I felt it was missing some kind of dressing and the bread was dry. Overall, a delicious sandwich but there were notable flaws.

Quality has been steadily declining in this neighborhood for some time. All utilitarian shops are slowly disappearing in lieu for bars and restaurants. The shops that remain must evolve by cutting corners in order to afford the rent, which is understandable. However, when it comes to food, I find it inexcusable. I've lived in Astoria most of my life. When Rosario's first opened, his products were impeccable. This had a relationship with Alps provisions as a supplier who was known for quality meats and cheeses, both domestic and imported. Yesterday i bought some fresh sausage, which from past experience it was made the way Italians make sausage, chunks of meat, not ground up garbage. Unfortunately, what I received was the equivalent of restaurant depot sausage. I would not even attempt the prosciutto since its sliced with 2" of fat instead of being trimmed the way it's meant to be. Most transients new to Astoria know squat about Italian delis so they feel they've uncovered paradise. I however will seek true quality in an Italian delicatessen, so all of my purchases require a longer walk up Ditmars to the deli department at Berry Farm. That's a deli.

This was the first slice of NY pizza that I got to try during my visit. I was a bit out of water trying to order because I didn't expect a half pizzeria and Italian shop, but it was great to get drinks and see what a local shop truly is. Int the back corner the pizzas are on display, they had the usual fare but one caught my eye. It was a kimchi pizza, with mushrooms and parsley. While my partner ordered a slice of that, I got myself a simple cheese just to get the pure gist of it. The pizza itself was great. The dough had a bit of give to it, but had an incredible crust edge. What I also noticed was the sauce was sweet and had a little bits of tomato, it was unexpected because it was my first, but it was a solid slice with the dough and tomatoes. I didn't notice anything particular about the cheese, it was a straight mozzarella but I don't know how fresh it was or if it was whole milk. Either way, I wish I could have more time here to sit back and enjoy the neighborhood feel. Definitely buy some local soda and extra bread to have a really good hometown experience away from home.

Definitely one of the best Italian deli's around. Great selection of deli meats along with boars head. Great fresh mozzarella, selection of other cheeses and Italian deli meats. This place is also a secret gem for their pizza. Great fresh pizza in the back. Love this place.

Super fresh, high quality ingredients! Great Sicilian owner on premises! Eggplant Parmesan hero is terrific, veggie hero is terrific. I can't wait to come back and try more. This place is a gym and a truly special order who really cares about his business.

Old school neighborhood Italian deli and grocery in Astoria. They serve exceptional NY style pizza that's a touch more traditional than most. Sicilian slice is just a tad lighter and airier than most of the city's. The cheese was a little thinner with a slightly sweeter sauce. Imported Italian sodas really round out a meal at a few sit down chairs in the back. All kinds of imported Italian staples from pasta to wine are here too.

I recently visited this place with my wife after a doctors appointment nearby, and had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite standing right in front of the counter with no one else in line, the owner didn't acknowledge us at all. It was baffling--there was no reason for the lack of service. When we finally received our order, the sandwich was low quality, lacking flavor and effort. It felt like a complete waste of time. To be honest, there are two other sandwich shops just around the corner that are vastly superior in both quality and taste. Yes, they have lines too, but the wait is actually worth it--and you don't get the attitude like we did at this place. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

Rosario's is a must-visit for sandwich and pizza lovers! Their sandwiches are packed with flavor, with fresh ingredients. The pizza is amazing. Highly recommend it for anyone craving delicious, satisfying comfort food! It can get busy around lunch time though so order ahead.

Best Pizza my entire visit in New York! Only bad part is Rosario's officially ruined all pizza for me. Best pizza I've had in my entire life. Sauce and mozzarella made from scratch. Incredible. Must stop on your trip to New York.

Great ingredients all fresh everything made to order good food would definitely come back

Easily the best pizza in queens. The key is the simplicity and quality of the ingredients used. A simple BUT elegant pizza. Also the daughter that works the store with her father is the most genuine and pleasant person you will ever meet. Just a gem of place. These delis (like the Jewish delis) are a dying breed.

You can't help but get hungry when you walk into Rosario's! So many aromas , the cold cuts get me every time. I always grab the imported mortadella here, it's always fresh and inexpensive.

God bless, Rosario's is still open. I used to come here when I was a kid with my mom. Everything was always so fresh. This is the real Astoria.

Sandwiches are fantastic. Mozzarella. They cut cold cuts perfectly and great salumeria to get authentic imported goods. Higher than 5 stars!!

As a simple newyorker always look for something decent not the highest one But at least taste a bit good That is Rosario's

As an Astoria native who has been eating in Queens restaurants since Donald Trump was a virgin, I would like to praise Rosario's "The Famous One" Sandwich in the cadence of William Shatner: The. Best. Sandwich. Ever. Anywhere. Huge, tender chicken cutlet draped in prosciutto, layered with mozzarella, topped with cherry peppers. I'm a guy who could eat a whole pie from Frankie's Pizzeria in the 70's, but had to struggle to finish this. Go with a friend, share it, then hoist yourself off your chair to have a lemon ice at LaGuli's, which a New York Times food critic called the best Italian bakery in the outer boroughs. But that's another (five-star) review.

Probably one of the more underrated pizza joints in the city. The slices are solid, but in an Italian market, underneath the Hell Gate Bridge, spitting distance from the Astoria-Ditmas subway station on the N and W trains, it truly is a secret best kept by diehard pizza connoisseurs. The owner is an incredibly nice man, who also happens to be a big Mets fan! (Score points for me, a fellow Mets fan). He is a native Italian who speaks with a heavy Italian accent. He is a bit on the older side, but he is smart and savvy and has a loyal customer following. If you go enough he will eventually know your name! Then again, it is Astoria, one of the nicer parts of Queens. People want to be treated a certain way. As for the pizza, the crust of the slices were extremely crispy and a bit well baked. So much so that I could not fold them right away. They also tasted extremely hot, and had to wait a bit for them to cook down. Once they did, they taste absolutely amazing. Well balanced cheese to sauce, and despite very paper thin crust, the pizza manages to hold pretty well. They only serve plain slices by the slice, but that is okay. Pizza is pizza. If you come here for your meats and cheeses, you must also stop in for a slice and say hi to the nice owner. It will make your day pretty special!

I got some overcooked pizza and a soggy chicken parm hero here. I don't get the hype. Will try again, maybe it was a bad day?

Nice Italian Deli with good food and prices I ordered two slices of pizza, one plain and one Sicilian and the famous specialty sandwich and the famous one specialty sandwich (chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella, cherry peppers. At the time I arrived they didn't have as many pizzas as I expected. so that was a bit of a disappointment. All in all they a very good Italian deli. I just expected to see more pizzas on display!

Don't have to say much about this place. Wish I knew about them earlier. Only ordered delivery through uber eats so can't imagine when it's fresh out the oven. I give this pizza a 9.8/10! Best in Queens!

I go to rosarios store for many years. I travel far away to enjoy their food. I never had problem with the helpers until yesterday that a spanish person helped me and he was not helpful at all. One of the cold cuts was finish. It was only fat left. I told him he he can get a new piece and he refused to do it. I could not buy the 1/2 pound of cold cut i wanted. In general i was very disappointed with this person, he was not helpful at all and i make the trip for nothing. My error was not to speak to rosario and conplain to him about that person's attitude. I was very disappointed because i never experienced something like that. Thanks

Great Pizza !! Delivery was fine , just heat up in the oven and it's great . Had the square pizza and the pepperoni round . Tge square was epic the round tasty but failed the flop test so not as good

This place sucks. I came here today all the way from the other side of town hoping to get my hands on couple slices of pizza. When I came here, the owner who looked like he was past his prime and had no heart in providing a good experience for his customers. On display there were couple old looking slices of pizza which I had no interest in. I asked the owner if he had any pepperoni pizzas and he mutters to the young kid about preparing a pepperoni pizza for me. I went over to see what the kid was doing and he took one of the stale looking plain pizzas and without gloves, he was adding pepperonis on it. I was hoping to see couple fresh pies on display but just saw junky looking food. It just looks like a dirty place to eat pizza or chicken and whatever else they have cooking back there. I only came here because someone on tik tok said they had good pizzas here. I gave it a shot and left empty handed, did not stick around to taste whatever that kid was preparing. Overall terrible service and I won't go out of my way to come here. I doubt I will ever come back. I'd give it zero stars if I could.

Coronavirus Day 412 - 4/30/2021 We're hosting a game night. Have you played 'Virtual Signal' before? It's a fun game! We ordered 2 pies of pizza from Rosario's just to try out. We ordered one pie of pepperoni and another pie of meatballs and artichoke. Small pepperoni was super cute and tasty. For some reason, I could not find any artichoke on the other pie. Perhaps, it was spread very thin; it tasted amazing nonetheless.

Where do I begin? Great food and friendly service. Love the pizza, the croquettes, the chicken cutlets, grilled chicken - all of it is really delicious, each and every time.

Not the greatest, but decent solid pizza! (I would give it a 3.5-4.0 star.) I ordered a Margherita pizza and Orangina Italian soda for delivery, but ended up receiving their "La Tradizionale" pizza instead. Overall the pizza was decent, but the bread was a touch too salty. I normally eat the pizza crust but I couldn't get myself to finish the full crust. The pizza was cooked well though. A number of places tend to overcook the pizza, but it was cooked well. A little disappointed I didn't get the Margherita pizza, but the have a bunch of leftover from the similar large 18" pizza!

This is a problem. I can never look at pizza the same again. I literally booked a flight from California for three weeks later, after coming home from New York, to have more slices of Rosario's pizza. I nearly cried when I had my first bite. And to those saying it's too crispy - go eat somewhere else, and don't ruin it for the rest of us.. or grow some taste buds. This is how the lord intended pizza to be made. I'm kicking myself for having been going to that other dumb place with the red writing all these years - never again. The arancini (rice balls) were to die for as well. Rosario's lovely, super sweet and super welcoming daughter, who was skillfully baking and serving the pies during my visit, made the whole experience even more pleasant. The grocery selection was very special and had many hard to find Italian items. The fridge had 4 different brands of my favorite Italian soda flavor, which I have trouble finding even one of. This upcoming visit I will definitely be getting a sandwich to pack for my return flight. Truly one of the wonders of America which should never be taken for granted. Thank you, Rosario's, for existing.

I have to check into my old neighborhood to see which businesses survived the pandemic. I am overjoyed to see Rosario's is still going strong. They honestly have a amazing variety of products and one of the best places in the area to get fresh mozzarella. Still warm and milky. Meats and cheese! It's just a ridiculous amount of deliciousness. Also, although it's not solely a pizza place, they make amazing pizza using the fresh ingredients they just made. Ever have pizza with mozzarella made like within the hour? Yeah it good. Also, they carry locally fresh made pasta from Cassenelli's down the block. Shopping at spots that been around for decades you get the advantage to experience the of the community. Astoria is for food lovers no doubt. This spot for me is a must.

I had a margherita slice, the dough was very tasty and the pizza was more acidic and wasn't as sweet as I'm used to but it was goodI was charged $22 for margherita even though on their website and delivery apps it was priced at $20(a little weird since they usually upcharge a little) I'm not sure why was charged more for phoning an order.
