Opened in 1972, Rosa’s is an east-side favorite for pizzas, calzones, and red-sauce standards served with Bakersfield warmth. Frequently cited by the Bakersfield Californian, it remains a multigenerational gathering place with honest flavors and fair prices.

Love this place! 🤩 One of my top 5 picks for sure. My now go to is Always the chicken cacciatore! It's soooo yummy and a Must try! The starter salads are super good oh and can't forget the bread and butter 🤤 Their pizzas and calzones are super good and huge. The creme Brule treat was super good you must try it! I love the atmosphere and location if you haven't been check it out. 🙂

I’d heard nothing but good things about Rosa’s when my in-laws brought me here. The service was exceptional, very friendly staff. We were seated right away, and I’m glad we arrived when we did as the place became packed very soon after. Can’t complain about that, it means the food must be great! To start, the bread they brought out was soft and delicious. It was only made better by adding puttanesca sauce. I ordered lobster ravioli which was creamy and delicious. The pizza was also incredible. Puttanesca really added to that as well. Overall amazing and we would definitely return.

A hidden jewel of wonderful Italian food. Clean restaurant and friendly staff. Came in with a party of three for dinner, been here in the past, however I realized I haven’t reviewed it before. I ordered chicken Marsala, it was wonderful. We also ordered Chicken Alfredo, he loved it. We also ordered raviolis, she loved it. Minestrone soup was delicious. For dessert we ordered tiramisu that we split three ways. Can’t describe how decadent it was, wow, it is a must order! We are coming back here very soon.

Been awhile since we visited the restaurant. Went on a sunday around 6pm. Service was good, food was delicious. They served us bread and butter when we were seated. Bread was fresh and served with real butter. My only hang up and really not a big deal but going to mention it, butter was refrigerated and hard to spead on the bread. So my wife and I sat on the butter to soften it. We both had the Chicken Picata, it was excellent.

Google
Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in town, not to mention the city history that comes with it. Rosas had been around for decades and there’s a reason for it. Their food is heavenly. My family always partakes in their traditional Italian dinners but I HIGHLY recommend their pizza and put their putanesca sauce on top, it’s life changing. They have one of the best pizzas in town and their putanesca salsa is literally incomparable.

Yelp
We've always enjoyed Rosa's, but we haven't been for a while. We decided to try it out for lunch. Their prices are great and so is the food and the portions were huge for lunch. My husband had the lasagna. I felt that it could've used a bit more marinara and the noodles seemed a little overcooked, but overall, it was very tasty! I chose the chicken cacciatore. My only complaint would be that the chicken breast seemed a little tough; I just cut the chunks into smaller pieces and it was fine. There were tomatoes, onions, peppers and mushrooms in the delicious sauce. I would definitely recommend it and will have it again. My daughter had the chicken piccata which she thought was a little salty. We shared some tiramisu for dessert, which is my favorite, and it was delicious!! In spite of the parking lot being full when we arrived, we were seated promptly and the service was good.

Yelp
Like being in an Italian grandmother's home with fresh cooked, made from scratch food. The best blue cheese salad dressing I have ever had; made in house. The noodles of the shrimp scampi are fresh made in house as well, which is apparent in the taste and texture... absolutely delicious in a generous portion with fat and juicy shrimps, too. There are 3 different seating areas with many booths throughout. Not a white tablecloth restaurant, but fine dining indeed! The service was excellent as well. Our server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. The one item we got that I didn't love was the sautéed mushrooms, which had a seasoning on them I would've rather gone without. She said next time we can order the sautéed mushrooms without the seasoning added. Altogether, we ordered the lasagna and shrimp scampi, which both came with side salads, the sautéed mushrooms, a small margarita pizza, a root beer and a glass of Jeremy Cabernet for a total of just under $110 before tip. It was well worth every dollar and with some food to go home. This place is a Bakersfield gem! Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Came here with a friend for lunch because Mamma Mia & Urrichio's were both closed on Mondays. We so wanted a salad for lunch from these places. At any rate, we hopped on the 178 to the Eastside and went to Rosa's. I've never been before so this was a good chance for me to finally try their food. Their lunch menu was extensive and the prices were very reasonable. I spotted the Mushroom Ravioli with Alfredo sauce while my girlfriend had the Lasanga. She also highly recommended the sautéed mushrooms. Boy! Those mushrooms were so good and had a great deep rich flavor. Description just says button mushrooms seasoned and cooked to perfection. And perfection it was. I would go back there right away just for that deep, rich sauce. It was so darn good, I used my bread to soak all that richness and even spooned over the mushrooms and sauce on top of my ravioli and Alfredo sauce, which took the dish to a whole new level. There's a quiet quaintness about this place. The booths were cozy and provided you just enough privacy to enjoy your meal away from the next table. The service was expeditious. The lunch portions were huge and yet we had no trouble finishing our meals. I would come back here again. Those mushrooms are calling my name.

Yelp
Spaghetti with meat sauce and an added meatball was delicious. Service was great as well. The restaurant is very comfortable and quit.

Yelp
First time to visit Rosa's last Friday.... this medium well New York Steak and with Shrimp Scampi.... Is the BEST... in Bakersfield!!!! ... super delicious!!! I will definitely be coming back to Rosa's very soon and MORE often!!!!

Yelp
Rosas Italian Restaurant Is amazing! We ordered manicotti, beef raviolis, spaghetti and chicken alfredo. We've been going there for years. The portion sizes are large. When my husband and I order for pick up we have at least two meals each. Their pricing is very reasonable compared to frugotti's. It's one our go to places. You won't be disappointed! Sorry I didn't take any pictures.
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
Delicious homemade Italian food! The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is family friendly. They accommodate large groups. This place is great for a night out, birthday celebration, or any occasion! Their pizza is also really good!

Yelp
I'm fully surprised I liked this restaurant. Bakersfield, to me, doesn't have very good Italian restaurants. We usually stay away from all the Italian restaurants everyone in bakersfield says is good, because they're not. The only reason we went to Rosas was for a friend's birthday. It was actually good. It seemed authentic, rustic, and flavorful Italian food. We were pleasantly surprised. I would go back because fruggattis, urrichios, sorelas, etc. are trash. I did hear sorelas is related, but maybe the cooks at Rosas should show them how to do better. Good job rosas!

Amie F.

Yelp
Picked up a pizza and cheese bread, sooooo disappointed about both. I'm not lying but the pizza was 7 eleven status, cheese bread was compared to store bought. We came here 20 years ago, wasn't impressed, sadly it hasn't changed. Will not be returning, especially for that price.

Yelp
When I want a classic, family owned, delicious Italian meal, we head to Rosa's. They never let you down. We were greeted and seated immediately, and every detail was attended to. I went with a classic fettuccini Alfredo and my daughter ordered spaghetti. Our dinner did not feel heavy and the flavor of the sauce was right on. It feels as if you are at your families' table and we had a great conversation with more than one of the servers, and possibly an owner. The only down side is that we do not live closer to that side of town, but I do not mind making the drive. Rosa's has been around for a long time and it is sure to stay.

Yelp
We love Rosas restaurant. We've enjoyed everything we've ordered and have gone several times. The services is always friendly and efficient, and the ambience quite intimate. it's a low lighting restaurant with authentic Italian food. A real staple for north east Bakersfield.

Yelp
Our favorite little restaurant in northeast. Rosas has friendly staff and delicious food! We love ordering out.
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic service with a smile and a delicious meal at one of our favorite restaurants. Cannelloni plate was left bare- no leftovers here. Recommend the 1/2 carafe Chianti. Established Italian restaurant with a loyal clientele.
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Wow!! What an amazing Italian restaurant! The atmosphere was great as soon as I walked in I knew it would be great! Restaurant was clean and service was friendly! We ordered the large calzone to share. It was huge and we didn't even finish it -Awesome leftovers!! I will not lie it was hands down the best calzone I've ever had! It was unreal!! The bread was perfectly crisp, the cheese stretched over a foot after cutting it! All the ingredients were so fresh and authentic!! Can't wait to come back and try other items!! I wish I took a picture but I didn't! A must try

Yelp
I wish I could give this amazing local restaurant more than 5 stars. The food was amazing and only outshone by the service. Everything we ordered was made to perfection. Our waitress was kind and attentive. Highly recommend.

Jim S.

Yelp
5 stars for the pics of the food. This place is definitely on my bucket list, maybe tomorrow for lunch ! I'll get back to ya'all..

Yelp
Service was on point, even with our larger party of 8. Ambiance was the same as always. The food was great. The Cannelloni with all 3 sauces was fantastic. Large portion. I had a Antipasta Salad as well (that I forgot to get a picture of) it was superb.
google avatar

Gary P.

Yelp
Kinda expensive for the taste and quality of the pasta. Pizza was good. I just found the flavor of the sauce to be ordinary and unforgettable. Probably will only return for the pizza
google avatar

Yelp
Rosas never fails, no matter what we are celebrating. Rosa's is our place to go. Love the garden salad with the creamy ranch dressing and some time the Caesar salad. The cannelloni is the best. I call the Italian burritos. The fresh past sheet wraps the beef and covered with just the right amount of sauce and cheese. Love the beer served in a frosty cold mug. Does not hold the whole beer you take a drink and pour In The rest, the ice that formed and the bottom of the mug floats up to the top. Aahhhh. This will be my families place as long as we live in Bakersfield!!
google avatar

Yelp
Rosa's italian Restraunt, we have been going to for years when we are in town. Food has always been great. Service, we have always had a great server. Great place and fair prices Enjoy

Yelp
My wife and I love this restaurant. The owners are very friendly and take time to talk to you. The food is awesome, feel in love the very first time we ate there. Every plate is a masterpiece. They use no microwave to heat/cook your food, so you know you will be eating freshly cooked meals. Thank you for your great hospitality.

Yelp
Rosa's has been one of Bakersfield's best Italian restaurants for many years. I have always had excellent service here and tonight was no exception. They have a team serving method, which is so efficient. Our servers were were pleasant and fun while being very effective. My friend & I both had the Linguini with white clam sauce. It's a garlicky delight in an olive oil, wine sauce. As always it was a generous serving of deliciousness! The prices are very reasonable for the serving size an quality of your meal. They are family friendly as well. So if you don't live on the East side, take the ride anyway. It is well worth it. I highly recommend Rosa's!
google avatar

rana l.

Yelp
Going to come off effusive because I am a die-hard, life-long Rosa's patron I love this East Side place! There's no other pizza like it and the roasted vegetable appetizer is so tasty I wish I could have it everyday. The wait staff is always friendly, efficient and accommodating. Always a pleasure to eat there anytime for social luncheons or special occasion dinners. It might be an old KFC beef hut but it's interior is a clean, cool and comfortable. I love the food, the people and this truly is a treasure in East Bakersfield.

Leslie D.

Yelp
It might've been my fault for ordering seafood in bakersfield, I had ordered the Linguini with clam and got food poisoning from it. The bread they gave us was cold, and the chicken in the Chicken Parmegian tasted like a frozen chicken patty. besides that the tiramisu was good and the waitress was very nice.
google avatar

Rudy N.

Yelp
Service and food is always great. Today we had the Rosa's special pizza with meatballs for our appetizers. This old school gem is always are go to when we are in East Bakersfield.
google avatar

Benjamin K.

Yelp
Rosa's is always a delight. Unfortunately, the surrounding neighborhood has gone to hell, with zombies wandering around in a fentanyl induced haze, but that's not the restaurant's fault. We were seated in the back. It was dark and noisy, and the booth we sat in was a little worn out, with broken down springs and duct tape covering the tears in the upholstery, but oh well. It was still an enjoyable atmosphere. Our server was polite and attentive and kept us stocked on the free bread. I got the medium Calzone and it was humongous. The small would be more than enough and the large would be a mistake. The cheese, sausage and olive filling was delicious and the house made marinara dipping sauce complimented it perfectly. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and said it was terrific. I don't eat fungus so I took her word for it. All in all, despite some environmental issues the food here is excellent and is what keeps us coming back.

Yelp
I just moved from Arizona and was looking for good Italian food or a good pizza, fee people recommended this place. I honestly think this place is so overpriced and the food isn't good. We ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was so bland and flavorless. No flavor what so ever, the chicken was okay at least that had seasoning. Then we ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was okay- not the best but do able. And I don't know about you guys, but I love leftover pizza and this pizza was not even eatable after like once it got cold. It tasted weird, like had weird aftertaste. The girl at the counter is really nice though and when they do answer the phone, they're very patient with you when we went to go pick up our order. It looked like it was really busy. The parking lot was full. That just made me think, "oh the food is really good," but honestly, I don't know, what people see in the food. Just my opinion

Robin C.

Yelp
Rosa's is the best. They have great pizza, and excellent steak and scampi. For traditional Italian food you can't go wrong with Rosa's
google avatar

Dani O.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided to have some authentic Italian food so we decided to go to Rosa's. Our waitress was super friendly and greeted us and all her guests with a smile. I've been to Rosa's many times but this time I decided to order a Calzone. This was a first for me. It was delicious!! We ordered the Rosa's Special Calzone with extra marinara. The crust was delicious and it was stuffed with all the pizza greatness I've ever tasted. This place is a great family business. Go check it out!
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Had the Rosa's special pizza and Cannelloni half and half! Yummo The cannelloni was awesome and the pizza was terrific! The prices were reasonable The menu has a great selection The service was good Restaurant could use a refresh but it doesn't bother me! Old school Italian decor I wish they would open up the patio for dining again! It would be a great place to sit and have some wine!! Highly recommend

Yelp
Sad to say that when my family arrived at 4:30 today, Sunday, they were closed because of staffing issues. There was 8 of us. No one but me has been here. It's been years since I've been here. Why are so many people not wanting to work, and most of all this is a local family business. Bakersfield needs to do better. I will be back, and will review them at a later date.

Bianca H.

Yelp
This was our very first time here! We loved the antique look and the customer service! THE FOOD WAS SO TASTEFUL AND SERVED HOT! My 5 year old had pizza and said mom this is pizza was delicious! We had dessert crème brûlée so yummy.. thank you for an amazing experience... we also had my 4 month old he even enjoyed it lol he slept through the warm area with Christmas music and talks...
google avatar

Aaron J.

Yelp
You can't really go wrong if your going to Rosa's. A place that has a long history here in town and for good reason. The family run business is all about quality and taking care of there customers. You will not find a better bruschetta in all of Bakersfield! The pizza is top notch, the pasta is always fresh and the sauces are very flavorful! If you like spice the puttanesca is a must.
google avatar

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
We love Rosa's! It's been a family favorite my entire life! Best pastas, pizzas and salads! The service is great, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Price is reasonable for the quality of food that you are getting! Definitely give them a shot for some traditional Italian!

Yelp
We chose this venue in Kern County to celebrate my father's 90th birthday, hoping for a memorable experience. For many months he was looking forward to ordering chicken cacciatore (his favorite Italian dish) and a nice glass of red wine or Merlot from Rosa's. Unfortunately, the wine served was extremely disappointing, and we were NOT offered any alternatives. His food quality (chicken cacciatore) also declined since our last visit; it fell short of his expectations. The shrimp scampi, steak, calzone and gnocchi were good. Additionally, we were promised a private room for our celebration, but instead, we were seated in a larger space with several other tables, which diminished the atmosphere significantly. Overall, I'm not sure I can recommend this place based on our dad's experience alone. I'm uncertain if we'll return. I truly wish the staff all the best, but we were left disappointed. You are an Italian Resturant. I pray you get some decent wine in there. I think the overall biggest disappointment was we could not all have a glass of wine and toast to his 90th birthday!
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
I'm surprised with the ratings, I freaking love Rosas! The manicotti with red and white sauce is a must. It's a Bakersfield classic, in my opinion. I also love the salads here, and the ravioli.
google avatar

Terrie D.

Yelp
We went to Rosa's for my son's Birthday last night. The food was extraordinary. I had New York steak, which came with shrimp scampi, it was delicious. We also ordered an extra large Pepperoni Pizza which their pizzas are one of the best pizzas you can get in Bakersfield as far as our family is concerned! One person ordered Lasagna and one person had pasta and chicken. . Everyone raved about the food. Our Waitress was amazing. So gracious and accommodating. This is both an intimate setting if that's what your looking for, or in the back of the restaurant, is a more family oriented spot where you do not have to be afraid of your children being too loud or or you have a noisy bunch like we did, disturbing anyone. You will surely enjoy your dining experience at Rosa's!

Peggy M.

Yelp
Chicken picatta tastes like dirt. No crisp on chicken and no lemon. Huge mushrooms that not sauted. So bad and place dirty
google avatar

Yelp
From the moment I entered, I was welcomed. Service was excellent and prompt. The ambiance is very cozy and friendly. My server, Vanessa, came by several times to make sure I had everything I needed. Enjoyed the spaghetti with meat sauce. The salad with the Italian house dressing is simple, but very tasty. Wow. 5 stars. Rosa's is a hidden gem in Bakersfield. It will be my "go to" next time I visit, which is pretty regularly. Plenty of parking. Oh, almost forgot, "Corner."

Yelp
Delicious Relaxing place Awesome Customer Service. It's nice to go to a place where you walk in an everyone welcomes you with big smiles. It's just a vibe when you walk in, you feel calm an relaxed. Went with friends we ate share laughs an never felt rush to leave. Lobster ravioli was delicious, just the right amount of lobster in the Ravioli , it comes with their own sauce I ask for half Alfredo sauce but honestly their sauce was better than the Alfredo. The soup was delicious, their bread fresh an soft. Our waitress she was good , she didn't check on us often , when she did she was on it, Had to flag her down for a couple refills. She had to many tables . Highly recommend this place . Delicious

Yelp
When I first moved here, a local brought me here and I loved it....but it was a bit far from where I live and worked so I didn't go often. Fast forward a couple of years, when another local / foodie friend wanted to go here because - And here's the best part- it is close to where I work now! This has enabled me to go here more often, drag my boyfriend here, and I have had the opportunity to try different things. After lunching here, I would frequently come back after lunch, and gush about how amazing my meal was to my co-workers, making my co-workers jealous. (This was kinda mean, because some of the time one of my favorite co-workers was doing Keto.) They all love the food at Rosa's; in fact for the big xmas party they wished we had gotten Rosas instead of tamales and chicken... I digress... I really love and appreciate my co-workers, and feeling very festive, today I am treating them to a holiday FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA! I knew immediately, where everyone would want to go, and it is of course Rosa's. I recently have been carrying around in my purse one of their Take Out Menu's. (Is this weird?) I presented them a choice of picking out what they wanted: One co-worker wanted the Spinach Manicotti, with the marinara sauce; two wanted the Chicken Parmesan - one wanted it with spaghetti, the other wanted it with Rigatoni, one wanted the Chicken Marsala... I could not coax them to order more, so I ordered extra of what is now my GO TO ORDER: I get the Chicken Piccata with the wickedly delicious lemon, caper butter sauce over green veggies (broccoli and spinach) instead of pasta. I love pasta, but the sauce is so yummy, I don't even miss the pasta! And I can pat myself on the back for being semi-healthy....It is a very saucy dish, so if I want to be bad/carb eating, it is easy just to use some bread to dip in the sauce.... Then I ordered three of the Italian sausage appetizers. I had tried both the meatballs and the Italian sausage (our waiter thought the meat balls are better) but for me, hands down I just LOVED the Italian sausage more. The red sauce that the sausage is served in is soooooo good! I also ordered two of the large Italian Antipasto Salads. The ingredients taste very fresh; and I love their Italian dressing. I have also had the Chicken artichoke penne which is very good. Like another yelp reviewer suggested, I got some extra pasta and added it. That was a great suggestion. Still, I am partial to the Chicken Piccata, with that caper lemon butter sauce. After today's FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA I am sure I will be the darling of my work place.

Yelp
Great Food and Good Service , with a good atmosphere to relax and enjoy the wonderful food and Beverages Served. Too your Table

Holly D.

Yelp
Great service and liked the original vibe but the food was not at all what I expected. Had the chicken Marsala and it tasted like it was doused in wine. The alcohol flavor was very intense. It was my first visit and I may try again with a different dish.
google avatar

Patty M.

Yelp
Rosa's is a family favorite. Sometimes we go in and eat, choosing from their terrific menu. Or else we order a pizza for takeout. My husband and kids all claim their pizza is the best.
google avatar

Randy R.

Yelp
I truly hate negative reviews but i have grown up with Roses and have not been there in a couple years, we finally made the trek across town and lets say i was disappointed for sure. The lasagna and Spaghetti which I normally love tasted like it was from the freezer section. Hopefully i caught them on a off night. I will be back and really hope to adjust this review.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
This place is honestly good food at best. I don't see the big deal. The service from the wait staff is amazing. Started out with Ranch house salad (not good) Ordered Chicken Parmigiana, Chicken Artichoke Penne and Shrimp Alfredo. I've been in Bakersfield for 20+ years and thought I was in for greatness and it was more mediocre than I expected. I believe the chicken parmigiana was the smallest $20 plate I have ever had in my life. I don't know why they are so stingy with their chicken. Maybe I ordered a kids plate and wasn't aware. It also came out Luke warm. My daughter had the shrimp Alfredo and this is her review. (The alfredo pasta was lukewarm, undercooked, unsalted, and had no good flavor, they did give a good amount of shrimp but it seems as if 2 of them were undercooked and I had to spit them out. The bread was good but the butter was hard. ) My wife had the *Chicken Artichoke Penne* this was the Superstar and was hot fresh and tasty. They should put that sauce on everything.. The tiramisu was also a shining moment. I would totally Order those two items again no problem. Overall average with a few shining moments. People rave about their Pizza and Calzones. I will visit again to see if they can get the food right.

Yelp
Rosa's is one of our favorite restaurants and our go to. Food is great and Liz is our favorite waitress. She is the best and always gives great customer service. See you soon Liz.
